Bad AC Adapter for Inspiron 17r Special Edition

My ac adapter has failed all of a sudden. I use this laptop as a desktop replacement and keep it plugged in most of the time on my desk. I went in tonight and the laptop was off. I hadn't shut it down recently so turned it back on, and it shut down right away. I realized it wasn't getting power. Checked my ac adapter and the blue ring that normally lights on the male end of the plug wasn't lit. I tried the adapter in a few different outlets. No change. I wiggled the connections around. No change.
This is a 130w adapter, model DA130PE1-00, dell p/n wrhkw
I took an older dell adapter i had, 90w, and plugged it in and it worked fine. That tells me it's not the laptop or the wall outlet, but indeed a bad adapter.
This should be covered under my extended warranty plan. I sent an email regarding this but wasn't sure if it would be better to post here or not. Does dell tech support monitor these forums?

I understand that you are trying to use the standard keyboard on your HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010 All-in-One Desktop PC. NowI have gone through the User Guide for your computer and found nothing on disabling the HP Keyboard that you have by default.
I did however find something that may do the trick. In your BIOS which you can get to by restarting and tapping the F10 key you will see under 'Security' a sub-section named 'Secure Boot Configuration' that has a setting for Secure boot > Key Management > Key Ownership. If you go there you can change it to 'Custom keys', which I believe will resolve your keyboard issue. I am posting an image to help below.

Ipod touch 32gb red special edition will not turn on - looking for advice

my daughter has a red special edition ipod touch 32gb but for some reason it is refusing to turn on - looking for any assistance on this?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 and WLS 8.1 sp2

Hi,
I'm a newbie for WebLogic Server. I started with WLS 8.1 sp2 since I got the book "J2EE Applications and BEA WebLogic Server 2nd Edition" which was written for WLS 8.1.
While XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic (version 5.4 something, built in 2003) is indeed packaged with WLS 8.1 sp2 and can be installed, but it'll pop up a window (ALTOVA License Manager) everytime when I try to use it. This window pops up because the license key is not installed during the installation and therefore can't be used unless a valid key is provided.
I wonder whether I really need to get XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 working in order to use WLS 8.1 just for the purpose of learning. If so, can someone share with me the the key-code for XMLSPY Special Edition for BEA WebLogic 8.1 please?
BTW, I tried to find something useful to this question/problem at ALTOVA website, no luck at all.

Thanks very much for your very helpful reply.
I got into the problem with xmlspy while I was trying to figure out why the WLS admin console missing the left pane/sidebar. There was only one non-expandable dot sign at the lefttop in the admin console. When I right-click on that little dot icon, the pulldown menu shows one option is to use XMLSPY to check (something along that line). Also, I see the XMLSPY button at the left bottom of my W2003 windows (just next to IE button). So, either way when I invoked XMLSPY I would get that pop up window which tells me there choices: type in a key-code, request for a trial key, or buy a license key. But eventually, I figured out the way to fix my problem - installing a newer version of j2sdk code. However, I wasn't sure whether the xmlspy issue would a hidden problem further down the road for me to learn WLS 8.1.
You're absoluately right commenting on the the right version of WLS to use at the beginning of learning WLS.
I have been VMWare Workstation for several months. I've created a CentOS 5.4 VM with WLS 11g installed. I played with with WLS 11g for a while and even followed through an Oracle online tutorial for that version. But I'm just used to learn something with a hard copy of book and I happen to have this old book on WLS 8.1 which seems to be highly rated before. I may continue to go through this book quickly if I can. However, if I experience too many hard problems down the road, I won't waste too much more time on this path. My long term goal is of course to learn more and better about WLS 11g and other Oracle related framework and tools. There is too much to learn. But the good thing is that Oracle provides everything free to learn. Also, I'm very encouraged by the quality of the Oracle tech group where I can turn for very useful help.

Because unless any of us is related to a Verizon Employee the only way were going to get to see one and Drool over it maybe is by way of Picture's or by Video or if a friendly Rep wants to show his or hers.. Female to femal adapter for external iSight?

I have a 2011 mini and an external iSight connected by a 6pin - 9pin cable that I got with a hard drive. It works fine but I cannot use the apple mounts because they only work with the apple 6 pin cable. I know I can use a 6 pin to 9 pin adapter on the OEM cable but it won't work well where I have my mini situated because it will increase the back area needed by around 5 inches.
So my plan is to connect my OEM cable with the 6pin-9pin cable I already am using. Would this work with an adapter like this ?

This should effectively turn the apple cable into a 6pin to 9 pin. However I am worried that the 1.8m + 3feet would be too long and cause problems. Anyone try out this method?

I have not tested what you describe.
However, adding three feet to a 1.8 m cable will not cause a Firewire cable-length problem. Maximum (total) supported Firewire cable length for Mac is 4.5 meters: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2952
One more thing for your consideration, though: External (Firewire) iSight may not play well with multiple connected Firewire devices.

In my experience, Firewire compatibility problems are also possible with certain cables or adapters. Therefore, if you experience a problem in your first test, I suggest you disconnect all other Firewire devices during testing. You can then try at least one additional different connection alternative to determine whether your problem might be related to a bad or incompatible connector.

HP Special Edition L2000

I was given a non-working HP Special Edition L2000. I like messing around with old computers and laptops to try and see if I can fix them. Sometimes I can fix them sometimes not. This laptop seems to be in pretty good shape. I have found I need to purchase an AC adapter as the battery is very low. The question I have is there is a empty slot on the left side next to the little picture that is a padlock. Can anyone tell me what is suppose to be in that slot and do I need what goes there to run the laptop?
I am trying to get this laptop going so I can give it to my grandson. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's either the Kensington security lock or the PC Card slot...depending on which spot you're looking at. This walkaround will identify it for you.

HP special edition 15 notebook - no bass

Hello, I recently purchased a new hp special edition beats audio notebook and I am pretty happy with it with one exception. My audio is terrible. Even by traditional standards this laptop offers very little in the sound quality area and the main selling point for the laptop was that is was supposed to have great sound and "rich, deep bass", which is not the case. There is virtually no bass and I have tried doing the fn+B thing and the bats audio feature is enabled on the control panel. Is it just that bad or does something need to be downloaded or the sub just not working correctly. When I hit fn+B it sounds like it switches to sonther feature but the sound quality is virtually the same. Need some help here. Thanks!

Adding second monitor to HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010xt All-in-One with HDMI Cable

Trying to add a second monitor to all-in-one using HDMI cable. All-in-one is HP Beats Special 23-n010xt, second monitor is Samsung SyncMaster S24B300, Op Sys is Windows 8.1. Both are connected with HDMI cable, but Windows is not detecting second monitor. Have also tried a new cable, no success. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Here are the specs for your HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010xt All-in-One CTO Desktop Computer. Based on the specs, this model doesn't have a video output of any kind. The HDMI port on the side is strictly an INPUT.
The HDMI input allows you to use your computer screen with a game console or video player. To connect your computer to an external display, you will need to purchase a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 or many other adapters on the market.

Headphone Jack Problem HP Pavilion dv6832tx Influx Special Edition Entertainment Notebook

Hello.
My laptop has spontaniously stopped outputting sound to my head phone jack. I ran trouble shooting and came up with no problems. Checked the sound and could hear the chimes but not any other program; music, game or otherwise.
After a bit of searching I tried the fix on the Windows 7 discussion board and 'rolled back' the drivers for the headphones. Too bad it made things worse. Now my computer no longer registers that anything is plugged into the headphone jack.
I found a few other fixes on this website that suggested to redownload the audio drivers. However, I cannot find drivers that match both my Notebook model AND O.S.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6832tx Influx Special Edition Entertainment Notebook and run Windows 7.
How important is is that I have audio drivers for my specific model? Should I only worry about the O.S the drivers are designed for?

HP Pavilion dv2799ea special edition - NVIDIA Faulty graphics chip!

My HP laptop has stopped working as a result of an NVIDIA faulty graphics chip. The HP Pavilion dv2799ea is now unusable unless I replace the motherboard. I am horrified to discover that lots of other models with the same problem have been granted a free replacement motherboard but my model is not on HP's list of products they are prepared to repair, therefore apparently I am not eligible for the 2 year extended warranty and repair.
My laptop is less than 18 months old, cost £1000 and I now have to pay out £300 to have it fixed!
This has got to be the worst experience I have have incurred from any product or company in my whole life.
How come HP will replace other models with the same problem but not my version?
This is apparently a known issue across the world and NVIDIA have admitted they have fitted models with this faulty chip so surely it is HPs responsibility to repair anyone's laptop that has this fault?
I bought this expensive equipment from HP in good faith, trusting that they would supply a product that would be reliable and of excellent quality. Quality worth spending £1000 on.....What I got? A low end budget laptop version that is faulty just outside of the years warranty and an expensive repairs bill!
I wish I had only bought a cheap one. The blow would not be so bad.
I warn anyone out there who thinks that spending a lot of money with HP will buy you quality and durability..Think again! HP are obviously happy for their customers to be out of pocket and apparently are not concerned that customers would not buy from them again. I could now never recommend their products to anyone, their products are not worth the money and the after service is even worse!
If anyone has any ideas as to how I could get this problem fixed without it costing me £300 I would be grateful. I cannot afford to get it repaired right now so will be without it until such time as I can get the funds together.
When I bought this 'special edition' I did not realise at the time quite how 'special' it was going to end up being.
I would also be interested to hear from anyone who has the same model and has experienced the same issue as myself.

Getting two Displays to Work on a Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition

Hi Folks
I am reallt having difficulties here. Let me explain:
1. I have a Power Mac G5 (2004) Dual 2GHz WITH 2GB Ram (http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G5_June2004.html)
1. I have just purchaed two 24" Dell Displays that come with DVI and VGA leads (http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=bsd&cs=ukbsd t1&sku=59234).
2. I have also purchaed Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition 256 DDR (http://ati.amd.com/products/radeon9800/radeon9800proseme/specs.html).
3. I want to connect both displays to my 9800. One of them can go into the DVI port, but what do I need to get the other monitor working on the 9800? I presume I will need some kind of adapter?
I have spent literally hours, and hours seaching forums and google to find the answer to this.... just can't find the solution.
If anyone can help I would be indebted.

Thats great. I have already bought the 9800 so unfortuantly Im committed. I managed to get it for about $200 brand new so I felt that was a reasonable price.

Apple dvi to video adapter for macpro working?

is it possible to use the adapter for the geforce 7300 in the macpro for pal video output? will it work? the apple store lists the adapter only for g5 and mini, but i see no reason, why it shoud not work with the gforce...

I have wondered about that G5 support since others have had bad luck with Nvidia boards and the video adapter. e.g. it doesn't work with the 7800GT, which is a G5 board. All current ATI cards on their web-site show support for it but the MacPro card is not on ATI's site.
The adapter seems to have disappeared from the displays section of the Apple Store.
Another option is a VGA to video adapter
