Bad %%BoundingBox: comment seen!

I get this error message in my printer dialogue box with every file I try to print in Photoshop to my HP CM1312.  Used to print fine. Files print out with part of the graphic missing.  When I place in InDesign they look fine, but print the same as in Photoshop.
I can save as PDF and print ok from Acrobat, and I can export the files from indesign and the print out in Acrobat.
If I print in print preview from photoshop Oranges turn to blues.  Same thing when I print as pdfs from the print dialogue box.
Any cures?

No notes. It does the same with all files.
I hooked it up to an inkjet printer and it works ok.  So I think it has something to do with postscript.

Okay, I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers...worked until some new update or who knows. I've added my printer as an IP printer and typed BINPS, etc.—didn't work, still had error.
I'm sick of this. Somebody needs to fix this problem. I'm printing magazine proofs and get better quality printing from Photoshop than Preview. Preview is not a good enough option.
What can fix? Printing to an HP Color LaserJet 2605dn

  • Photoshop CS4 won't print "Bad BoundingBox Error"

Can't seem to print from photoshop all of a sudden. Always worked before. Can't seem to find a solution to this anywhere other than a work around to use the print preview button which works but I don't feel I should have to do that. So I have two printers an HP Laserjet 4500 and a Xerox Phaser 8550. Both return the error Bad %%BoundingBox: comment seen!
Any help someone can provide would be much appreciated. I already tried clearing photoshop's preferences. I never had problems printing from PS before.

There are lots of people with this issue in PS CS3 anc CS4. Trouble is, no one seems to have found a solution to it. One iMac we have here developed that issue out of the blue. Nothing we've tried has helped.
The only "solution" I've found noted on the web is to deactivate and uninstall PS. Then reinstall the OS and reinstall PS. If that doesn't do it, the only true fix is to wipe the drive and reinstall everything.

  • Error:  No %%BoundingBox: comment in header!

When we attempt to print a jpg or psd file we get the following error: error: No %%BoundingBox: comment in header!
Am in a computer lab setting using intel iMac, OS 10.5.4, CS3 Photoshop along with an HP5200tn NETWORKED laser printer. All updates have been loaded as they became available so all is up to date.
No printing problems other than in Photoshop.
Called Adobe and they say it is not their problem/fault. Called HP and they blamed adobe. Meantime, I DID get prints by clicking on the old "open using rosetta" in Photoshop but wonder what new problem THAT solution will cause. Plus, I resent having to use rosetta with nice new macs with up-to-date software and drivers. We do not have any gimp drivers installed nor any sketchy software.
Can anyone offer any viable suggestion. Thank you in advance.

Long story short. This " No %%BoundingBox: comment in header! " problem showed up on my Brother MFC-8640D. After hours of troubleshooting, I found the problem. As indicated in this thread it is a Postscript issue. Somehow, Mac OSX switched from a the "CUPS" version of the driver in OSX to the Postscript version, thus communicating with Photoshop that it is a Postscript printer, which it's not, so Photoshop ends up printing code instead of the print.
Solution: Follow these instructions. Should be the same even if your printer is not a Brother.
    First, uninstall the printer driver:
    http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/us/usot/en/faq/faq/000000/000300/000014/faq000314_003.html?reg=us&c=us_ot&lang=en&pro d=mfc8640dus&Cat=
    Second, reinstall the printer driver:
    http://pub.brother.com/pub/com/pdf/macosx/mac105driver_ipd.pdf
Follow the instructions and make sure you install the "CUPS" driver, not the "Postscript" one.
Restart and all your prints should now print normal. I get the same override warning on postscript that one gets using a photo inkjet because now the OS knows your printer is not a postscript model. I can't believe Adobe and others didn't just come up with the solution. Crap, it took me hours of investigation and trying all these work-a-rounds (some worked, but added additional steps and greatly increased the load and print time, sometimes by 500% or more....too slow).
How the driver is OSX changed over from CUPS to Postscript, I'm not sure, but a while back I reinstalled the scanner driver and may have done something? Anyways, this solves the real problem. No need for all the other time consuming work-a-rounds.
    Good Luck

  • No %%BoundingBox: comment in header!

I get this message in my printer queue when printing from PS CS3 on a new MacPro running 10.5.7. This happens when printing either to an Epson 4000 run by Colorburst or to my little HP Laser.
I've searched the forum already and found some discussion of this problem, but no definitive solution.
I've upgraded from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, tried printing various file formats, reinstalled printer drivers etc. with no luck.
    Any insight appreciated.

My sympathies are with you, I just wished I had checked the Toshiba forums before making my purchase. I too have run into the non existence of their customer service. How on earth are you supposed to email Toshiba for some help. When I finally found an email Toshiba link,, it was a dud !! Comes up as an error ' no such address',, did a Google search for an email address,( that usually comes up trumps as someone that has been down that road and found it usually list it just to annoy,, and good on them) but could only find posts from people that had found the same as me... A dead end.."what does it say about a firm that deals in the world of communication, yet is frightened to be communicated with".
All I wanted to do was to put two more Gigabytes of Ram into my laptop, just wanted to make sure that I was buying the right ITEM.. As it is near impossible to find anybody that has this 'what you would think would be everywhere' item in stock.. Found someone ""OFFTEK"" -DON'T USE THEM !!! Unless you want to get shouted at.!!  And sent the wrong item.. Who said they had the memory I wanted in stock as I had found the right part number :- PA3669U-1M2G.. • PSD CS4 Bounding Box Error

Have been printing to a cheap HP Laser no problems. Just purchased a Kyocera FSC5200DN, connected to a iMac with OSX 10.5.8 through ethernet.
When printing from PSD file will print, takes forever and get an error that reads:  Bad %%BoundingBox: comment seen!
Can open file in Preview or Illustrator and print just fine.
Anybody know a fix for this photoshop problem.
    Thanks, Mark

Had the same error this morning. Had no problems with my HP Z6100ps and PSD CS4- then I updated the printer firmware which, I'm told, was grievously outdated. Tried printing a 24" x 36" poster from my mac tower, 10.5.8, and got the message as the file wouldn't stop spooling. The problem is also on the Apple forums and the HP forums with no solution, just the workaround to print to PDF, then print from Acrobat or Preview. That worked for me, but I hadn't considered opening the PSD file in Illustrator. Next time I'll give it a try.

  • Packing data at delivery user exit or BADI time

I create a delivery and enter associated packing data (handling units HU), then save the delivery.  At user exit time, the delivery header is available via XLIKP and the delivery items are available via XLIPS tables, but the packing data is not!
Now, program SAPMV50A has a table called CVEKP, whose structure is VEKPVB, the handling unit header, but this table is always empty.
I thought I had a solution: instead of putting my custom logic in user exit MV50AFZ1, I tested putting my logic in the "Delivery Publish" BADI.  Supposedly, this one is executed after the commit work, and so I could then read table VEKP directly and get the handling units. No such luck!  Unfortunately, at the time the BADI is executed, the VEKP table may or may not be updated.  Even adding the WAIT option wasn't 100% effective.
But these attempted workarounds still leaves the big question unanswered: "Where are the handling units data stored during execution of transaction VL01 or VL02"?
    Anybody know?

which BADI u have seen ?
    what abt ur requirement ?

  • The display becomes blocky, and can no longer be read

Websites develop distortion in both text and pictures, thought it is more noticeable in text. Horizontal lines shift from left to right a pixel or two, sometimes more when it's really bad. i've seen some shift entire letters. this makes it very difficult to read, especially since it more spreads the text than shifts it cleanly. if i highlight the text, it disappears. if i start a new page, it disappears. it seems to inconsistently get worse the more activity there is on the page, or if i scroll up or down. No other program on my computer has this problem, and i checked today that all my drivers are up to date. i also checked for viruses on the computer and in mozilla. i have gone so far as to uninstall and reinstall the program without the problem going away. i have also seen a similar issue in your foums, but have not seen a solution given to that post from 2010.

  • Time machine backips

I recently had a very harrowing experience rebuilding my IMAC from disks and a Time Machine backup. It all started when I accidentally pressed the wrong button on a duplicate file finder program and sent files to the trash can instead of just viewing the duplicates. I may have recovered easily from my mistake if restoring files from the Trash Can were possible like it is with the Microsoft Recycle Bin. This should become an improvement for Snow Leopard.
I fully expected to get my IMAC back to to its exact state prior to the problem by using my Time Machine backup, but that was not the case. I even had help from Apple support with the restore. I had to spend 4 more days just to recover completely. A good backup program should restore a computer to its EXACT state prior to the problem, and Time Machine doesn’t even come close. I wonder if there is a better backup software program available for Macs. I was told by a support person that Time Machine is only designed to backup photos, pictures, and applications, and not to restore the computer to its original state. If so, that is a rather poor approach to designing a backup program for the Time Capsule hard drive.
I had to update Leopard with 5.5/5.6 combo although the backup was done after 5.6 was installed recently. The process didn’t even restore to Leopard 10.5.5 which I’ve had since it was released. Software Update had to update Pages, Numbers, Iweb, Airport, Itunes, Quicktime, Remote desktop, Safari, Digital Camera, and Java. Apparently the backup failed to back these up correctly.
My ForcastFox add-on to Firefox was missing all its configuration settings. Settings for other applications were missing. The Yahoo Widgets on my Desktop were missing and had to be set up again. All my Dashboard widgets were gone and had to be set up again. I have a utility which allows me to have multiple Docks. Two of the docks were reset to Apple’s standard icons, and the main application dock was number 2 dock instead of number 1 dock. Three of my 5 docks had to be reconfigured. I’m still unable to re-install Istat Menus, a great menubar program that shows system status.
I had trouble accessing the Internet because some obscure network setting called web http had been checked somehow in the proxy section. Un-checking it restored Internet access. I had trouble connecting back to the Time Capsule, but that problem magically disappeared. However, the Restore button was grayed out now when I highlighted a file or directory. That problem resolved itself also. Although the Restore button was grayed out, I was able to go under the toolbar Action button to restore files to ANY directory, not just the original directory.
Another headache is that the Spotlight comments seen in Finder’s comment field ( View, Show View options, Comments). Right click on a file and choose “get info” to add comments. This function is totally unstable, flakey and broken and should be fixed ASAP as a serious flaw in the OS. There is no reliable way to keep these comments. They seem to appear and disappear at will, and other folks on the Net have complained about comments disappearing. I have over 200 programs on the application directory and use comments to describe what the programs do. I can’t do without comments.
The hidden file .DS_Store file store these comments, but I think they are stored elsewhere as well. I’ve had some success getting comments to appear by reindexing the Spotlight. Sometimes they have appeared just by going into “get info”. I’ve also had to use the program Tagbot to get them back, but they don’t always remain. They can disappear just by rebooting the computer. I’ve also added comments, exited Finder and the comments are gone when I go back into Finder. I’ve had some success just deleting the .DS_Store file which is automatically recreated.
The best success I’ve had in restoring the application comments was to use the restore function in the Time Machine toolbar Action button to restore the apps not to the Apps directory but to the Download directory. All the comments show up there while they are missing on the Apps directory. I then delete the .DS_Store file on the Apps directory and before the OS can create a new one, I move the .DS_Store file from the Download directory over to the Apps directory.
I think a nice new feature in 10.5.6 ( at least I didn’t notice it before ) is the ability to change the Finder highlight color to anything I choose. This is done in “Appearances” in System Utilities. However, I’m very disappointed to find that blue and graphite are the only 2 selections available for the overall appearance of menus. Why not more color choices like the highlight color?

yes, it does. TM can do exactly that. I sympathize with your plight but you just got some extremely incompetent advice from apple support. You can use the restore utility on the leopard install DVD to restore the computer to the exact state it was in at the backup time. if you kept the TM backups you can do it even now.
Boot from the leopard install DVD and choose "restore system from backup" from the Utilities menu at the top.

  • MSI R4830 OC : The exploding capacitor issue still continuing?

    For reference, my system spec:
    MSI 790FX-GD70 mainboard
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
    4GB OCZ Platinum 1600MHz memory
    MSI R4830 OC graphics
    1TB WD & 500GB Seagate harddrives
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
System isn't overclocked and has never been.
    The story...
Today after doing a bit of gaming (WoW) all of a sudden my computer BSOD'ed and after the auto-reboot of W7, the bios gave me an error notification saying: "a hyper transport sync flood error occurred on last boot. Press F1 to continue". After just continuing Windows booted fine and I was able to run the regular programs without any issues. Wanting to continue gaming, I again started WoW, and even before I got into the login screen, windows BSOD'ed again, after which the bios again came back with the hyper transport sync error.
Doing some research on the error, I came to a conclusion, that there apperently are many reasons why it occurs, but no single sollution to solve it. So I just continued, let my computer be for a moment, and idle'ing it for a couple of hours. During that time no issues at all.
Until about an hour ago... I wanted to try to get WoW started again and amazingly it did, without crashing. Until I was in the game for about 5 minutes and then the computer did NOT BSOD this time, but immediately did a full powerdown. Trying to power it up again after that failed, after taking the PSU of the mains and plugging it in again, the system would "turn on" for less then a second and immediately powered down again.
Time for some hardware inspection then. Took of the harddrives & dvd (power & sata) to no avail. The system would still only "turn on" for less then a second. Next to be taken out was the graphics card (MSI R4830 OC), after removing it the system would turn on again and stay on this time. So there it was... some sort of failure in the graphics card. After powering down again and inserting the graphics card again and then again trying to turn on the system, back to the previous situation where it would only "turn on" for less then a second.
This made it obvious that there was only a single cause to the entire situation and that's the graphics card.
After inspecting the graphics card I noticed the following:
(Click to see a larger version of the photo)
Note the upper most capacitor, it was bloated and had been leaking. Off all the capacitors on the board (most of them are solid-state caps, only 5 classic caps) this the only one that burst.
Seeing this immediately makes me remember the situation we had about 8 years ago, with exploding capacitors all over the place (I have seen much of my hardware in those year fail due to exploding caps): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
Considering the location of the capacitor near the power connector of the board, I suspect the capacitor to be related to handling the power supply from that connector. If that is the case, most likely the board might not receive (enough) power from the PSU to power the board, causing the PCI-E power usage to run to high, in turn causing the mainboard to turn of for safety.
How long this capacitor has been blown I don't know, but I wished I would have noted earlier. Until today everything worked fine, but it could very well be this cap was already blown for months.
As a final question, has anyone else recently had any exploding capacitors on MSI products (and I'm not talking about hardware from the problem era, but rather the more recent hardware, in which the capacitor issue should have been solved long time ago)?

The card is produced early 2009, so technically from the period after the issues there were with the bad Taiwanese caps. Out of the 15 caps on the board in total, 10 are solid-states and only 5 are still the old electrolyte ones, of which one obviously blew.
And indeed I am aware of what they are used for and what issues they cause if they go bad. Have seen approx. 20-30 motherboards & another 10 graphics cards fail due to exploding caps during the time where the issue arose with the stolen electrolyte. (Luckily only a few mainboards were actually mine, but had many friends and family members with the issue).
This is the first time I've seen the issue come up since around 2008 when an old socket 7 board blew which was owned by a family member.
I do wonder though how the unstable graphics card is related to the "hyper transport sync flood error", if at least this blown cap is the one and only reason my system BSOD'ed.

  • Opening an EPS file in Illustrator

    Hello,
How come Illustrator doesn't honor the BoundingBox comment of an EPS file? Whenever I open an EPS file in Illustrator the page size is always the default size, not the size specified in the BoundingBox line of the file. Is there a setting within Illustrator that will enable this?
    Thank you,
    Paul

    Hi Karsten,
The EPS files are for use with LaTeX. Some of the EPS files I have were produced from other applications and are a lot leaner in size than if produced by Illustrator.
Also, when I save an EPS file within Illustrator, I have to open it up in a text editor and remove everything after %%EOF.
Is there a special PostScript code for specifying the page size for use in Illustrator?
