Bad camera quality

I resently update my lumia 620 in black, my camera not taking good pictures like before plzzz do help, and another issue, plzz make it posible 8.1 update for lumia 620

@tiny_chef
You should know by now that there is a huge camera quality drop since the Amber update (which was not repared by the black update).
If you don't know yet, then I suggest that you do some reading through the various forums about Windows Phone and Nokia : I think that you really need an update before to post/answer on this subject !
The photo quality with my friends L920 was superb when it still had Portico.
That is why I bought 2 L925 phones, but I discovered immediately that the photo quality was a lot worse than my friends pictures.
When my friends L920 got he Amber update, his photo quality dropped as well.
What were/and still are the quality drops
- The photos are not sharp enough anymore after the amber update, they are smoothened.
- All photos get a horrible yellowish tint
- Photos taken with flash are completely yellowish
The Nokia phones were known for their camera quality - Amber and Black destroyed this advantage completely.
Restarting the phone, etc etc etc does not help and you should have known it by now.
You guys at Nokia do not read what the customers are complaining about, or you think that we are just whining (rest assured, we are NOT WHINING without reason).
We love Nokia too much to let it get spoiled by developers who do not want to listen to us.

  • Bad DVD quality. Camera or Settings?

    Hello.
I've recently finished a DVD for my high school's drama department. I'll fess up right away and say my camera (a Sony HDR-HC3 HDV minidv... 5 years old) isn't the best to film in extremely low light conditions. It doesn't look ungodly on my computer however (im sure the macbook pro's glossy screen helps this).
When put onto a DVD and played back onto the 46 in HD TV, it looks pretty bad.. i guess its passible for a high school show DVD, but im hoping to get into more professional settings (school for video production), and this would be mocked and i'd never have a job again.
The project, was quite long (about 136 minutes) so when i was finished editing within FCP (and color correcting the footage to reduce graininess with an external monitor) I rendered, then exported as a reference file. Imported to Compressor, applied the 150 DVD Best. I upped the bitrate to around 5mbps (just enough to fit the video onto a 4.7 gb DVD) and set the deinterlace filter to Best.
So camera quality, bad/dark lighting, inconsistent lighting vs. DVD compressor settings?
I would like to lean towards the camera/environment. I'm saving for the Canon XA10 AVCHD HD Pro Camcorder which has great low light picture quality.. im hoping this will help the quality of my DVD's.
    Any insight?
    Thanks!

    That was harsh..
Okay, there's obviously things I could have done differently. I wasn't really aware of being able to rent equipment (for cheap) in my area. I've seen stuff advertised online for lower end professional cameras but those still run around more than a $100.00 per day, and my budget isn't what I would consider to be flexible. Also, I was literally asked by the director to film the show the day of the performance. There wasn't much room for obtaining better equipment, BUT I will keep that in mind for the next time.
The tapes, okay I was idiotic. But I think its best to know you did that was stupid in order to never do it again.
As far as the video that was shot, i'm not sure how I could have made it look better given my lighting conditions. I used what manual controls I had, and it made the scenes with the lighting scheme I was adjusted to look good, but it had issues adjust to rest. My biggest problem was artifacts and graininess in the black areas. Im not saying there isn't much i have to learn about getting the shot, but i feel like the camera was limiting in its low light capabilities. Of course, I should have rented something better.
As far as the editing portion of it goes, that is my strongest point and the area I want to focus on in college. I filmed the show on 2 nights and combined footage/audio bits from both nights. This included cross dissolve shots between near and far shots (from 2 different nights) and matching them so they appear to have been from the same show. This also involved mixing the audio in a way that one couldn't tell when the "transition" from audio night 1 and audio night 2 took place. During the orchestra bits there were parts where they messed up on one night, and played it perfectly the next night, so I combined orchestra audio and had them fade into eachother. The end product makes it seems like the orchestra played perfectly. So in some ways i don't lack the creative ability to work with what i have.
I burned a couple more test copies and it looks fine on a standard def TV, and the sound is the best i've ever had. It doesn't look the way i would love it too on the 46 inch, but its better than previous theatre projects since i went through and color corrected all the clips.
Like i said, its a learning experience.. sometimes being harsh is what gets one to learn.

  • I crack my screen badly, does this effect my camera quality?

I cracked my screen badly. I have an Ipod touch 4th gen. Anyways, now there is no glass covering the camera. Does the camera need the screen to enhance it's qualtiy or does it just need it for protection? Basically I want to fix the camera quality, so if I get the screen replaced will it fix it? or do I need to just go ahead and buy a new one?

I do not know. How does the camera work now with the broken screen?
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for the 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • Camera quality bad after Upgrade

I had been fairly pleased with the upgrade to my phone until last night.  My camera quality is really grainy now.  Is there a fix or is this just something due to the upgrade.  That is really going to disappoint me because before the upgrade my camera took really great photos.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I had the macro setting enabled and after the update, I took a couple of grainy photos, but when I changed the setting back to automatic, it started taking pretty decent pictures. In fact, Gingerbread features a continous focus when taking a picture, which is supposed to reduce by 40% the time it takes to take a picture. Check your settings and good luck.
Where can I check my camera settings?  I can't find where to determine if I am set for Macro vs Automatic?
Launch the Camera App -- turn the phone Horizontal. Tap the screen, once. A set of Options will pop up along the right side of the screen. Click on SCENES ....  Now swipe through them - there are 5 in total; one of them being Macro.  (I don't know why you can't get to these in Portrait mode. Stupid, IMHO.)

  • Camera quality

I have a problem with the camera quality. The photos I take at dim light are really bad and the.photos are too grainy.Anyone faced this problem too.how can I fix it

In very low light situation camera fails to get a proper white balance, the reduced resolution and small sensor don't help... but it's true ... color is greenish... this could be because there are twice the green photodiodes (or they are bigger) on sensor and the other ones don't get enough light...
The reason for green photodiodes are in greater number is because our eyes sense green light better ...
Anyway ... use the main camera >_> ... secondary camera is just for video calls ... and you don't really care about color correctiness but detail (other person prefer to recognize your face on green than just see a blob of pixels) ... if, for any reason, you used the secondary camera, you can always correct white balance with an image editor...
5800xm on a blender ... will happen sooner than expected.... v51 is a failure as an update .... v52 just postponed its fate....

  • 10.6.2: Bad image quality with SIPS

I used to convert my PDF documents with SIPS like this:
    /usr/bin/sips --setProperty format jpeg --setProperty formatOptions high -z 400 200 sourcefilename.pdf --out targetfilename.jpg
This results in a very bad image quality after updating to 10.6.2 (the text contained in the source pdf file is nearly unreadable in the resulting image, especially when using the -z attribute for downsizing).
I could reconstruct this behaviour with several machines today: when using 10.6.1 the quality is fine, but after the update to 10.6.2 the resulting image quality is unacceptable.
Any ideas? Or could this be a bug? The man page for sips does not contain any information about new parameters and the image quality for other target formats (tif, png, ...) seems to be ok.

That picture looks like it was taken in a dimly lit room.
You could try using night mode but you will need a very steady hand.
Most basic phone cameras just cannot produce good pictures indoors when not in brightly lit areas.  LED flashes just cannot do a good enough job when compared to real cameras.
Megapixels don't equal quality, it's the lens and flash that make the biggest difference.

  • PE 7 with Canon 5D Mark II - bad slowmotion quality

    Hi,
I've used the trial version for some days now to set up a video with shots from my Canon 5D Mark II.
I want the video clips to play in slowmotion so I've set the speed to 50%.
When I render the video I get bad quite quality (jagged playing) and I want it to be smooth.
Does anyone know if this is a know problem and could be solved in any way in PE 7?
If not, will it be the same problem in Premiere Pro version or does this version have a lot better render quality?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
There are a couple of articles on this forum on "Canon 5D MK II" footage, and many more on the PrPro forum. Pay special attention to links to other articles and also comments from Jeff Bellune, a noted author and Community Expert. While I do not recall "slow motion" being discussed, there is much discussion on the .MOV files from that camera.
The Adobe fora allow one to search by both Subject and by People.
If I find some of the links, I will post them here.
Good luck, and have you done a Render (hit the Enter key) to Preview in the best form possible?

  • Bad overall quality

    Hello,
In the last few years, Nokia dramatically decreased the quality of its products. I know of 4 people that bought a Nokia phone in the last 18 months, all of them had to be returned already in the warranty period:
Two Nokia 6110 Navigators: one had a micophone that didnt work anymore overnight, the second was unable to chrge after a few months and the camera wasnt working anymore (screws had to be tightened to fix the camera). On Nokia 6110 Navigator, you also notice the bad building-quality, as you can move the slider, even while closed, at about 2 millimeters, on both phones in same direction. (from beginning!) A known issue.
Thrid phone: a Nokia 3120classic, bought 3 months ago, now speaker not working anymore, phone did never fall down.
Fourth phone: a Nokia 6220classic: tried a firmwareupdate and crashed during the update, had to be returned to Nokia Service Center. curently Nokia is investigating these problems with 6220classic and N82.
Besides the bad quality of the hardware, the firmware/software also got so many bugs. On Nokia 6110 Navigator there are so many known bugs, at the beginning (for a whole year!) there were so many obvious bugs (even the daily alarm-clock didnt work correctly!) that we have to wonder whether this phone was ever tested by anyone at Nokia. Nowadays we got used to the remaining bugs, that are also partly in 6210 Navigator and a few of them are all on Symbian-OS60-Phones. As there are tons of bugs on 6220classic too, if you try to update your phone, it is a really big "chance" to get a broken phone.
Great thing, isn't it? The bad quality keeps ongoing on the new products, if you read some reviews of the newest Nokia phones. No wonder, as phones that are soon 2 years old, still got so many (partly obvious) bugs, how could a new phone work the way it should? And the hardwarequality rarely improves if you build the phones in countries in cheaper, eastern countries...

Quoting: mccbleues answer to something i didnt mention:
The old "I never allowed my phone to get wet" story is very, very tired. All Nokia phones have a label inside (in some models, it is visible in the battery compartment, in others it is completely insude) which changes colour when exposed to sufficient watre to cause damage to the phone. No warranty repair rejected for water damage is a guess, it is a water-tight case with strong evidence against the owner.
As for dust getting in, this again comesdown to the phone being somewhere where there is a lot of dust. It has to come from sowmewhere, I and stand by my statement that these modern phones are sophisitcated devices not Fisher-Price toys, if a phone is left fumbling around in a pocket or handbag, or accompanying its owner in a dirty environment, it is susceptible to problems.
Answer from me: Sorry, but do you read what I have written? Obviously not, as all of the phones got repaired for free during warrantyperiod, as Nokia saw that for example there was nothing broken due to water getting inside or dust, or whatever, all had defects caused by bad quality or assembling. Anyway, the problems were not at all related to this kind of things, and I simply mentioned that the phones were always kept in save places, to show you, that it WAS not the customers fault. All 5 phones got therefore repaired for free. I am not complaing about their reparation, because that is OK, Nokia service centers are doing a good job.
The fact is, that I wonder how this can happen, and about the quality of the phones from the beginning on, so i notice a very high number of phones getting broken just due to bad quality of hardware or other technical problems that occur. Even if you might purchse the phone, and only leave the phone turned on and charge every time the battery gets low, without touching it or using it, it might get broken. The Nokia 6110 Navigator that got broken over night (microphone) while lying on a table at around 20degree celsius is such an example. How can this happen? I thought it was impossible to happen, but it happened.
This is definitily a result of bad quality, and not of customers usage-behaviour.

  • Drop in 5800 camera quality

After updating my 5800xm from software version 30, the main camera quality became bad giving white cloudy images. I still did subsequent updates up to version 52.0.007 but there's no improvement. Both soft and hard reset didn't work. What should I do to regain the camera's quality?

  • IMovie - Inspector options not enough for a bad camera angle

I've created a clip path (yellow line) on several seconds of a really bad camera angle. There is a music track so deleting cannot be done.
When I go to the Inspector, the options just modify the color/clarity of the image which is not what I need. I need to break up several
seconds in the image with a Transition effect, such as a cube or mosaic.
Dragging a Transition into the clip path does not work.
There are three hours of video and the project is ready except for about five seconds which is visually unacceptable.
How can I put a Transition effect into several seconds which are surrounded by the yellow line?

I would not suggest a transition for what you are doing. A transition is likely to alter the audio track.
I would suggest instead that you use the Cutaway feature. You can drag another clip, or even a photo, onto the clip where you want to replace the video. When a popup menu appears, choose Cutaway.
See this Tutorial for more on Cutaway.

  • Still bad video quality

even is catalyst cs 5.5 two of my problems do not resolve.
bad video quality in fullscreen. i have some videos for offline view (768x576 @ 2600 kbps) but still fullscreen view is messed up, all blocky, not proper video interpolation. in vlc or any other player the flv file looks fine!
the videos also have a 4:3 ratio and show white borders in fullscreen on a 16:9 screen in letterbox, how can make the borders black?
    is there any solution?

    Hi
    as example
Creating a PAL movie in iMovie HD 6 then import this into a NTSC iDVD project
    • Works but with a losy quality
I do use JESDeinterlacer3.2.2 and let this do the PAL to NTSC conversion
Now burned as an NTSC iDVD project
    • Best result possibly without buying PRO-applications for $$$$$$$
This way should work the other way around too.
Most modern PAL DVD-players can playback NTSC (if TV is old in Bl/W)
Most modern NTSC DVD-players can't playback PAL
If playbacked on a Mac PAL or NTSC is of no interest.

  • Possible to adjust video camera quality settings?

I realize this is a shot in the dark, but is there any way to adjust the video camera quality settings on a 5th-gen nano? I'm wondering if the poor quality of the video is a result of the hardware or the built-in compression settings.

    Hello Matt,
is there any way to adjust the video camera quality settings on a 5th-gen nano?
No. What you see is what you get.
Here are the specs for captured video on your nano.
H.264 VGA video, 640 by 480 pixels, up to 30 frames per second with AAC audio
Not exactly top notch, but still decently quality for a decent price. It's more than likely due to both reasons. This may improve with future generations.
