Bad Creative

I have spent alot of money on my sound system sound blaster card and the GIGAWORKS S750 SPEAKERS. I got the speakers on 2-11-07, they went out friday. Thats $538 total with shipping. Talking to a person is a joke. Email with this company is a joke. But they don't mind taking your money.
For those of you that read this do not buy these speakers, Some may work some may not, But $538 is alot for (may not).

If your wife is a member of the State Bar of California, you should show her the hard copy (or the one from Creative's site) of the warranty statement. I'm sure she can explain what your rights are under the terms of the warranty or refer you to someone who is a specialist in Consumer Law. There are very few products where a product being replaced under warranty is renewed for any in it's entirety, and certainly nothing in the consumer electronics sector.
Of course, one should also bear in mind the addage that legal advice received in internet forums are worth exactly what you paid for them. Also, folks in California should check the rate schedule for their respective counties for Small Claims filing fees. A lot of counties have implemented a graduated scale for people who file a lot of small claims cases, where the filing fee may be increased to $00 from $30. The filing fee is also on a graduated scale based upon the amount of the claim, it is not a flat fee for any amount.

Small Claims is a great way to get your money back on these matters. And you can not bring in a lawyer?(Either side). Just show the court all the complaints on this forum, Thats all you need.

I was just commenting on how great creative handled the RMA process, even though I had a ton of worries about it and all. I m about to tell a story about how bad Creative support is. First I email them. I ahve to send what year I bought my card. I put a random date cause I'm to lazy to look for the invoice. I theng et a email a couple days later saying they won't help because my card is to old. I then email them again but saying I bought the card within a month. They then email me back a couple days later again giving me a couple obvious things to look up that had nothing to do with my problem. Then I reply back giving so much detail into my problem that a 5 year old would understand it fully. Then I get a reply a couple days later and it links me to download the latest drivers. OMG I ALREADY HAVE THE LATEST DRIVERS. If Creative wants to call it sound cards for gamers then they should fix a major problem for the most success online action game of all time Counter-Strike. What I've been wanting all this time is for them to code a locking tool into the surrond mixer so you could choose to lock the voice to only mic. I jsut though of a slogan for Creative "We are Creative and think of Creative-vly bad responses to your support emails. I have all the recording settings for my mixer and select Line /Mic, and it works before I play a game, but whenever I start CS it sets the recording device to Wave Out Mix, instead of Line /Mic. As a result the game engine is binding it's mic input to the wrong source on the sound card.
I can alt-tab out of the game and set it back to Line /Mic then it works for the test in the options menu, but when I join a Server it puts it the mic back to Wave Out Mix again so my mic won't work.
How do I fix this?

Other software applications like CD Recording programs can change the wavein input to come from the CD player instead of from the microphone, then when players try and use their microphone in the game it won't work.
To solve this, the HL engine tries to make sure the mixer control settings are set properly when the game runs, but not all soundcards work the same way, especially very high-end sound cards like Audigy 2ZS pro cards.
To prevent the HL engine from trying to set the mic input, players need to set this CVAR in their userconfig.cfg file or in the launch properties of the game.
Add this line in userconfig.cfg:
voice_forcemicrecord 0
or in the launch properties for each game you play:
+voice_forcemicrecord 0
(you don't need both)
This will prevent the engine from attempting to configure the mixer settings.
You might also check and make sure these settings are correct:voice_enable ""sv_voiceenable ""voice_scale "0.75"voice_enable ""voice_modenable ""voice_dsound ""voice_modenable ""

Creative Zen 8gb- unknown error/access denied when adding mu

This is so frustrating....please help!? I have already reformatted, disk cleanup, reset and still nothing. When I'm trying to add new music to my Creative Zen 8gb I get the both error messages : "unknown error" when using the Media Zen 'browse media' option and when using the Windows Explorer drag and drop selection "access denied". Please help I've tried almost everything and it won't copy any music not even pictures.

What operating system do you have? Win Xp (sp2) (sp3) or Vista?
Note: I can only help you on Win Xp (Sp2)
Try this:
. Go into the "Recovery Mode" on the Zen disconnected from the PC and clean-up & reboot.
Check to see if this fixed your problem?
Next
. Connect your Zen to the PC
2. Select "Organize media files in this device using Creative Media Explorer"
3. You should have a "docked screen" ?
4. Under Windows, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager then look under Portable Device then
look for Blue (Yellow is bad) Creative Zen then check to see if the device is ok.
Do this for error code (0)

Apartment Bookshelf Stereo Solution with Creative mp3 Pla

I'm looking for a recommendation for an at-home speaker setup for the Creative mp3 players.
We li've in a small apartment with a small living room, so we do not need that much power. We just want to have a convenient way to play our mp3s and listen to the radio.
The ideal setup would be a small unit of speakers (or separate speakers) with a drop-in dock for the mp3 player. A remote could be used to adjust volume, go to the next track, or turn power on and off. FM radio reception would also be nice. It MUST provide power to the mp3 player so the mp3 player is not running on batteries. I've seen all kinds of products that do this with iPods, but we already have (and enjoy) our Creative products.
Of course I can just connect one of our mp3 players to a bookshelf stereo. This is not a terrible solution as long as I have the A/C power cord close by. No remote and no easy dock, but it works... I already do this in our bedroom using the little bookshelf stereo we have.
The big downside to this is that I have read in the manual for some Creative mp3 players that you shouldn't leave them plugged in an charging all the time. That's a bit of a problem if we want to leave it connected to the stereo most of the time, and don't want to worry about having to recharge it.
We have older mp3 players like the Jukebox 3 and the Zen Xtra. I've seen the portable docking device for the Zen Micro, but no way do we want an mp3 player with such a tiny hard dri've. We need at least 20GB.
How about connecting a Zen Vision M, or an older Zen/Jukebox to something like the I-Trigue L3800, or to one of those iPod devices like the Klipsch iGroove? The I-Trigue with the Creative Wireless Remote I200 is one option, but is it safe to leave the mp3 player plugged into AC power all the time?
I've also considered a WiFi stereo component that can pull songs off the computer, but with that the computer always has to stay on. When we have a house maybe I'll build a media computer/server that stays running all the time, but for now we just want a very basic setup for our apartment.
I wouldn't mind upgrading my mp3 player, so I'm pretty close to just purchasing a 30GB iPod and one of the many drop-in solutions for playing your iPod tunes in the living room. Too bad Creative doesn't offer such an accessory for the large-capacity Zen mp3 players.

Hmmm... I am now finding some intriguing accessories... like the Cambridge Pladock that can play and charge Zen players. A little pricey for what probably isn't the best-sound, but all those iPod solutions from Klipsch and Bose are pricey as well.
Looks like the Zen Vision M docking station might be a good solution. Does anyone have one of these that they just leave connected to the stereo and/or tv and AC power? How do you like it's I guess this might be more versatile than the Playdock.
Not quite as slick as the many iPod solutions out there, but I like the Creative mp3 players we already have, and the Vision M looks like an awfully nice updgrade from my Jukebox 3 (which has been a little buggy since a recent drop to the pavement). Suggestion for renaming new Zen 4GB/8GB/1

Just bought myself a new "Zen 4GB". I think Creative should rename it to "Zen Paperclip". Seem i
need to reboot it several times (7 times in 2 days). Talk about product quality issues. What
a waste of $30.
No mention on the box either that it doesn't support UMS - how many media players out there don't
act as a mass storage devices these days. Even my old 3rd gen ipod can be mounted on my Linux box
as a disk and i can copy files onto it and play. Maybe even "Zen Microsoft" as a name ?
My wife's calling it the "Zen paperweight" - it's too light for even that job...
Off to the Apple store.. The new iTouch looks nice. Well it doesn't have a SD slot, but that doesn't
work too well according to this list, and no radio, but i can browse the web, and have a lot more apps
soon, maybe even internet radio.
Bad Creative, bad..

I was not comparing a 4GB model with a 8GB iTouch which is their base model iTouch. So there's only $00 in it if you compared 8gb with 8gb. Plus you are looking at much better features and stability on the apple (or so my friend tells me). Half the so called features on the Zen don't work very well, and i'm not the only one. Look at this very forum.

I told you. I have one, and it doesn't support UMS. You cannot plug it into a Mac or Linux and see the device. You are limited to MTP support only ! If you give your player to someone else who doesn't have the MTP driver installed in windows it will NOT work as a plain storage device. Try it before you respond.
And no i don't disconnect it while it's docked when it decides to crash/hang. Even if i did i'd consider it a bug in the firmware nevertheless.Message Edited by terraforma on 0-4-20072:46 PM

Zen micro power dr

Glad to see Zen Micro users figured out why I never got more than 5-6 hours of play time from my Zen. Too bad Creative didn't figure it out and notify its customers. I will download the firmware fix but it is not enough. The 4 hour standby is still too long. It should be user selectable. When I turn my Zen off, I want it off, not spinning the hard dri've for another 4 hours. What are these engineers thinking when they program these things? I'd also like to download OverDri've audio books from my local library if Creative is reading these messages.

OverDri've audio books are in WMA DRM format; their "compatible players" link is to the PlaysForSure site. They should definitely work with 2.x (MTP/Janus or PlaysForSure) firmware; they probably will work with .x firmware as well, but you may have to use WMP, MediaSource, or ZMME to transfer them. (.x is not PlaysForSure because it uses a proprietary driver, so it's likely the OverDri've software won't support it directly.)

Zen Sleek and battery charg

I just purchased a Zen Sleek and I am currently charging it. The manual says it will take approx. 2 hrs. to charge, but it is running on 4 hrs.
It zipped past bars one, two and three. It is currently still showing as charging on the third bar, and has been like this again for 4 hrs.
How long does it take to complete, I'm hoping I don't have another bad Creative product on my hands.

It looks like I got my second defecti've Creative product in 5 months. FIrst, my Micro goes back for a refund because of the headphone jack, now the Sleek has an issue with the battery not fully charging. I read their knowledgebase, but I have found posts regarding others who have had to return their Sleek because of this defect.
Well, I will get a refund, and will NEVER touch Creative again, I have a Rio (which works great 00% of the time). Since they're gone, I will find a manufacturer who doesn't ship defecti've products at least in my case 00% of the time.

Np your english is fine. Ya I also tweak other stuff in the inf. You can change setting on your own but you have uninstalled reinstalled each time. There also vocie vocal tweak and mid range tweaks make sound improve in speach and other stuff give the set a try.

I have sent this letter to creatives customer support email. I wish more would so they see the severity of all the problems. Dont suffer in silence! I post it here, and it will be followed by the answers i get. Beginning of mail. " Please do not insult me by sending a standard answer. I do not use playlists or music styles to play my music. If I could sort the list or only show certain files when I look for music or books I would be a bit happier.
I have a ZEN X-Fi and I like it so much I made the mistake of purchasing the MX SE thinking it would be a similar layout. BIG MISTAKE!? The combination of the four-way controller with the lack of being able to manage the files or use folders make the MX SE nearly unusable unless you seperate everything into playlists which will take many hours and with the Audiobooks make the use of the current menu system nearly useless.
I like the size of the player and the larger storage capacity is exactly what I needed, but without being able to use the menus easily make the player total crap.

HT3964 a letter not recognized on pad

I have an Imac that the key board Y was broken. I purchased a new wireless keyboard and still the letter y is not recognized. Do I need to reset something in the settings?'

Primus - that is exactly what our ZVM does, charges on the USB but will not dock. I tried reloading drivers, checking devices, but it does not show up anywhere. I tried to open it with Creative Explorer - nada, it says there?was no device connected. I am going back to Best Buy today, to try and take it back, or let them try something. Bad, Bad Creative. If I didn't use subscription music, I would get an Ipod in a second.... BTW - there is lots of tips on the other Creative board for media devices too for ZVM. I tried them all, and nothing, but there is lot there....

Xfi Crashes Ga

Hi, Ive been reading the posts regarding the random lockup/crashes on games such as battlefield 2, I have the same problem and was looking for a solution. Ive been able to work around this problem by lowering the sound settings in bf2 to medium. But this is by no means a solution. I didnt pay $50 to put my settings on MEDIUM. Its very unproffesional on creatives part to not even acknowledge these posts regarding this issue.
Lockups and freezes that cause people to have to do a hard reboot is very damaging to thier systems and to not have one single admin say SOMETHING is very scary. It makes one think that they know, but they dont know what to do about it. So, Ill check back on this post every so often and if i dont get a response, I will just start a new post, and so on until I do. I see it as a way of protest on my part and if anyone else is having this problem, dont reply start a new post!
I had the card in another comp for a couple of months before putting it into a gaming pc I built. It worked fine on games in the other computer. I, like other people have taken the card out to see if that was the issue. Once I did not one single problem. But I refuse to let $50 go to waste so I put the card back in and tweaked my settings. They seem to be ignoring this problem, so if they release another driver/patch whos to say it will fix it when they cannot even respond? When will that patch come out? Will I be waiting for nothing just to see the patch has done nothing to resolve this issue?

i have the same problem with the X-FI Titanium pci-e card.
since i have this soundcard i get random game crashes/freezes/bluescreens.
ut3 worked without ANY problem with onboard sound, since i have this piece of .... it crashes or totally freezes the computer after some minutes.
5min ago i played stalker, ended in a bluescreen with looping sound. i ran the debugger to analyse the crash minidump -
