Bad Download

i have tried several times to download Flash Player
without success. Each time I just get a smal coloured box come up
where the animation should be. I have WIN XP Pro. Use Zone Alarm
firewall and AVG anti virus. Any suggestions please as this is
becoming frustrating?

Is it a bad download or a crappy ipod?

I downloaded some TV show from iTunes and when I watch some parts, it sometimes gets all pixely and looks really crappy. Was it a bad download or is there a setting on the ipod that makes it do that?

Only when it is a dark color on the screen. Like when someone is in a dark room. It gets pixely in some parts of the screen...And I download all of my stuff from the same computer...Ugh. I must've spent a lot of money already...darn...

Cannot install trial of Captivate 8 due to a previous bad download which won't shut down

Hi, I have tried to shut down a previous bad download of Captivate 8 on my Mac but the installer still will not let me proceed even though I have quit the program and closed in Applications / Activity Monitor. In actiity monitor I select Quit for the Captivate program but it will not quit. What can I do. I am downloading a trial of captivate 8

Sea Swimmer you may want to try rebooting your computer and then try the installation again. If you are being prompted to close Captivate files it is likely you have downloaded the installation files and are attempting to install the software. By default the installation files are saved to the download folder for your User account.

I just downloaded an iTunes album and the first (2) songs won't play on my computer -- they skip to the 3rd song every time.

I downloaded an album and the songs all cut off before they are finished. Does this mean that they were bad downloads? When I sync my ipod the new album doesnt get synced to my ipod. What should i do?

It's possible. You can delete the album and download it again to see if that helps.

Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I downloaded a movie from iTunes to my iPad. It seems to say it's downloaded but it must be a bad download as it doesn't give me an option to "play" the movie. I even waited the 30 days hoping it would disappear and I could recover my memory but no luck. I just want to get rid of the thing. What do I do?

I guess it wasn't clear that you need to play the movie from the videos app. I was trying to do it from iTunes store. At least now it said the rental period had expired. Hopefully my memory has been freed up. Thanks for the help.

HT4623 If you get a bad download how do you re-install the IOS

I have an Apple 4 I phone. I recently downloaded the update to IOS 6 and immediately afterwards my phone started acting up. During a phonecall, the microphone (speaker) seems to disconnect. I can hear the other person but suddenly they no longer can hear me. I have hit the "speaker button" to see if that would change things but it does not. The only thing that appears to be wrong is they no longer can hear me.
I use this phone as my primary phone. I have done the reset. I have done everything I can think off. Occassionally if I turn it off for about 5 minutes the thing will work properly again. So I did it this time. I then called Apple Support line to ask them how to fix the problem and guess what....... they could not hear me
So I assuming I got a bad update or something is wrong with the software. So how do I reinstall IOS 6 or is that what I should do?

Can a bad download cause my spin retry cycle to suddenly fail?

Hey everyone,
So I recently left for a few days on vacation and my younger sibling was using my macbook pro while I was gone. Well, they were downloading something and all of the sudden application stopped and internet cut out. The Internet wouldnt come back for 6 hours (thats how long it took them to fix it!). He was afraid and stopped using my computer (im guessing he was using utorrent or something equally stupid). Well, when i came back and started to use my macbook, it would not stop screen freezing. I get the beach ball of death CONSTANTLY, and its become a terrible hindrance to my university work.
So after trying everything, I downloaded techtool pro 7. I have used the Smart function, and was astonished to see that everything was perfect except one category. Spin retry cycle is very high, to the point where its almost failing. After smacking my sibling around in anger (kidding), i now come to everyone here for some solutions! I have read that spin retry cycle is a imminent indication to hard drive failure, but I really cant see how this is possible. My macbook was PERFECT before I left. All my sibling did was do the download, have the download suddenly freeze, have the internet cut out for some reason, and then in fear shut down my computer. The freezing started immediately after this "frozen download". Could this spin cycle warning be from something other than hard drive failure? Like I said, this was an overnight thing. Perfect to freezing. Could the download have corrupted a file or fragmented a file to cause this? Is there any possible way other than replacing the whole hard drive to fix this? Will defraging help?

If the Safari reset or Font check doesn't help, the issue is either at the software (OS X) or hardware (hard drive) level. In the IT world it all comes down to how much time you want to spend dealing with/fixing the problem.
This is a shot in the dark, but create a new user account, see how the performance is.
The last thing in my bag of tricks is to re-install the MacOS.
Run a Time Machine backup to an external hard drive first.
Be sure that you have all of your licence keys and installers for any paid software.
Then boot up in recovery and connect to the internet
Erase the disk
Run the MacOS installer.
Otherwise, if performance is not better with a fresh Lion installation, get a new disk

Mathematica 8.0.1 works fine here on Arch x64. Maybe the image that your university provides is corrupt. Maybe you could try to change line 4 in "Mathematica_8.0.1_LINUX.sh" to the MD5 sum that is computed in your version of mathematica - just to see if it installs then.

Bad download link, extra crap on computer that I can't delete?

My coworker was having trouble viewing some photos with Internet Explorer. I could view them fine on my computer so my solution was to download Firefox on hers.
I hastily went on Google and searched for "Firefox" and quickly chose a link on the first page (unfortunately I didn't notice it wasn't Mozilla.org). I clicked "download" and about 5 different programs were installed on my computer:
"24/7 Help"
"How To Make Awesome Presentations!"
Among another couple of trash .exe's that look like viruses.
I tried going into Program Files and deleting the extra garbage, but it turns out they were still running so I couldn't delete them.
I guess this isn't as much of a Firefox question as it is a general computer question: how do I go about deleting all the extra junk?
Any help would be appreciated.

hello, try removing them from the windows control panel, programs section (where you can also sort the programs by install date, so you should be able to spot the recent addition of junk easily). i'd also uninstall any shady copy of firefox and then reinstall it from the official servers at getfirefox.com.
if those adware programs don't play by the rule you might also need security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to clean up the mess.

Bad download of OS 10.4.4 Combo Update

I have not succeeded in getting a "good" download of the 10.4.4 Combo updater over a period of days with different browsers, including Safari. They all fail checksum and will not mount. Has anyone else experienced this? Have you succeeded in getting a "good" download or is the disc image that Apple has provided simply no good?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, I managed to get a good one after many, many downloads. It still think there is a problem with the source, but who knows?

Bad downloads

I just purchased a bunch of tunes and they all downloaded. Howver, some of them only play for a few seconds until cutting to the next song. I can't find the solution online and Apples pathetic customer service is MIA. Any idea on how to fix this?

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken files from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to close and restart iTunes.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

V3.0 bad download

We have tried numerous times to download V3.0 for windows 32-bit with JDK included. Each time the download finishes, attempts to open the zip file report a corrupted file.

Just keep trying, but I recommend a download manager like DownThemAll for Firefox.
