Bad echo when placing calls to landlines

I'm running into a serious echo issue during voice calls. This only seems to occur when making cell to landline voice calls in northern VA. After placing a call from my iPhone to a local landline, my voice is instantly echoed back to me. The landline recipient does not hear any echo. When making cell to cell calls, there is no echo. I have tested this problem by calling two different land lines located in two different parts of the county. The problem isn't tied to any specific cell phone as I've tested this by making calls from three different iPhones (4, 5c, 5s running various versions of iOS) and all exhibited the echo problem. The echo at my end is present while holding the phone, using the speakerphone option, and while using bluetooth headsets or handsfree in the car. I did notice that I did not have echo issues during on a recent trip outside the DC area. It seems to be service-related and not a phone-specific problem. Any assistance in resolving this would be greatly appreciated as it makes using our phones for important local calls useless.

My mother is currently having this same issue. She is experiencing an intermittent delayed echo of her voice ONLY when calling Verizon landlines in central NJ (08817 specifically). I have experimented with the speakerphone on and off. Also raised and lowered the earpiece volume. There was no improvement. Calls to cell phones both Verizon and other carriers are fine. All recipients, cell or landline, have a good, echo-free experience. Her phone is an LG Accolade VX5600, but I rule out the handset as the cause of this problem due to the specific conditions which the problem is able to be reproduced. I don't know how long this has been happening, but it seems fairly recent (4th quarter 2014). I dont know if the problem improves if she calls from a different location.

  • They can't hear me when I call a landline in Saint...

I called a landline in Saint Vincent & The Grenadines for years without any problem. My husband is from there and that's his family. Since December, when we call it, we can hear perfectly the person on the other side, but he/she can't hear us at all. We've tried with Skype from my PC, my laptop and my smartphone. My daughter tried from her skype account and her iPad, with the same results. Why?
Thanks in advance for any help on the above

Same here. I'm about to cancel my Skype subscription because of it. I did hear though, that Lime and Digicel are abusing their broadband monopoly and blocking VOIP services.

It would be nice to get a Skype technician to verify these claims.

  • When placing call can not hear ringer in earpeice

When placing phone call, can not hear phone ringing in earpeice, speakerphone works ok when turned on ,then turning off speaker phone phone works ok

I am having the same problem with my iPhone 4s with iOS 5.0.1.
Symptoms: I dial the number and the phone's display shows "calling ..." and the red "End" button, but I cannot hear an outgoing ringer.
I was under the impression that the phone on the other end (that I was calling) was not ringing either, but that is not the case.  The phone on the receiving end rings.  I cannot hear the person I'm calling (or his/her answering machine) if he/she/it picks up.
My carrier is AT&T, but others in my office with the same phone/carrier have not experienced this problem.

  • Having your cell phone ring when someone calls your landlines

    Hello,
First sorry if this is the wrong area.
My Aunt was telling me how at their house they got rid of their landlines service, but was able to keep their number.  Using equipment from verizon they were able to hook up something she said looked like a router and when someone would call the landlines number one of the cell phones would ring.
She wasn't really sure what it was called, but she said her husband got the equipment and all from Verizon.  Can anyone tell me what this service is called and where on the website I can look at it to read more about it?
    Thanks

I'm not about a piece of equipment that allows this, but here are a couple options to do what you're looking for:
    1) Port your landline number to Verizon as a wireless number.  This will completely close your account with your landline service provider, and your number will now be attached to your cell phone with Verizon.  It should be fairly simple to do, just call Verizon or visit a store to get the process started.
    2) Forward your current landline to a cell phone.  If you only want your landline calls to go to your cellphone when you aren't there to answer, you could set up conditional call forwarding on your landline and point it to your cell phone.  You would keep your landline service, and this option would make sense if you want to use the landline when you are home, but get calls from that number sent to your cellphone when you aren't there to answer.  Different companies have different procedures and possibly charges for this service, you'd have to call your landline provider to find out.
If you want to be done with the landline service completely, just port the number to Verizon.  If you want to keep it, set up forwarding.

  • When I call a landline with skype by iMac (10.7.5) the other side hears my voice very hollow and far.

    Dear mac colleagues,
I have a imac (2,7 Ghz Intel core, 4Gb internal memory) with Mac Os X 10.7.5. The problem is that the quality of my voice that people hear when I call them by skype 6.4.0.833 is bad (hollow, and far). When I call with my old macbook pro there is no problem. This is very frustrating because of a new iMac computer that powerfull I expect a lot better than this. I tried already to install skype skype again and checked the sound preferences without any result.  Anybody has an idea what I could do?
    greetings Guy

The following line tells me that this is not a template file, but a document created from a template called index.dwt
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/index.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
This means that you saved a child document as a template file at some stage.
If you go to Modify->Templates->Detach from Template, you can remove the template structure from your document. All you then need to do is to re-save the document as a template.

  • Clicking on PSTN calls only when placing call on hold/taking off hold

    Hey all,
We have an ongoing issue that we thought was isolated to a call flow going to our UCCX, but after extensive troubleshooting, have found that it is occuring when a PSTN caller is being placed on hold by or being taken off of hold (most noticeable when taking off of hold) either via an IP Phone or another system (Unity Connection when releasing to switch is transferring outside of Unity Connection, UCCX and it's hold/unhold steps). If we mirror this call flow, only calling from an IP Phone to Another and being placed on hold, or including Unity Connection or UCCX in the call flow, this doesn't occur. We've been working with TAC and our ITSP for the past couple weeks but haven't really made much traction. Wireshark traces on the CUBE, so far, only have the audible noise on the ITSP facing interface of the CUBE, which is what I would expect given that it's not heard internally.
    Call flow:
PSTN Caller -> ITSP via SIP -> CUBE -> SIP -> CUCM -> IP Phone
    CUCM Version 8.5.1.15900-4
    CUBE Version 15.1(3)T2
MOH and CUBE have a G711 region relationship. Most IP Phones and systems have a G729 relationship, but as a test I put a phone in my G711 test region and the issue still occurs.
The traces show the call being setup with G729 (preference on my dial-peer), but the stream is all G711 (audio from my IP Phone and MOH). This was verified both in the trace and via the CUBE when doing a "show sip calls <my cell phone number>" that both legs were G711 and the issue was still occuring.
We regularly restart the IPVMS service as our MOH changes from time to time, but again this is only happening on PSTN calls, so my focus at this time has been the CUBE.
Has anyone run into this before? Perhaps it's a bug and I need to update my CUBE's firmware?

    Hi,
Did you enable “Play music on hold”?
If yes, you can try to disable it and then test again.
Please also check if there are any error message on FE Server when the issue happen.
Please also update to the latest version for Lync Server 2013 and have a test.
    Best Regards,

  • How to quit iPhone app when placing call?

At a certain point my app places a call by invoking the phone app via tel:// . After the call is finished the iPhone relaunches my app.
Is there a way to cancel/stop/prevent the relaunch?

If you created a view based application, you should also see <app name>ViewController sources. In the implementation file, you uncomment the viewDidLoad method and then do what you need.

  • N81 echo when on a call

When calling a landline phone, I hear an echo of what I am saying to the other person. However when calling a mobile its fine.
    What could be my problem?
    Thanks

since the problem only appears when you're calling a landline , i don't think that you have anything wrong with the handset. i believe the problem is the network you're using.
please try to check another handset using the same network to call a land line . if the echo problem appears again then it's deffinitly the network.

  • HTC Incredible: Hearing two tones when placing or answering every call.

I have an HTC Incredible running Android 2.3.4, Build 4.08.  Recently, I started getting two loud tones everytime I answer or make a call.  When answering, the tones occur as soon as I click Answer and before I say hello.  When placing a call, the tones occur right after I click Call and before the phone starts ringing on the other end.  What can these tones signify, why would they have started out of the blue?  I haven't changed any Settings and I do not receive updates directly from HTC.  Frankly, given how prominent they are and they way they just started occurring for no apparent reason, these tones are suspicious to me.  Sure would appreciate hearing from someone else who has heard them and might know what's going on.

Thanks for looking into that for us mg4499! I would like to have you try a master reset of your device http://vz.to/19WXLUi. Since Safe Mode did not resolve the trouble, it may be a setting within your phone that has been altered in some way. Performing a master reset will move all settings in your device back to how they were when you first pulled the phone out of the box.
Please let us know how your experience is after performing the master reset!
