Bad Fan in 2801 Router

Hello Cisco Community, Looks like I have a bad FAN supply on a 2801 router. I wanted to know if need to RMA the whole Chassis or if i can replace it with a 2811 fan supply (ACS-2811-FAN-1/2)?

You open an RMA base on the serial number of the chassis. Give the TAC engineer the error message which states you've got a bad fan and they'll send you the replacement fan plus the instructions about how to replace the fan.

Site to Site VPN Problems With 2801 Router and ASA 5505

Hello,
I am having some issue setting up a site to site ipsec VPN between a Cisco 2801 router and a Cisco ASA 5505. I was told there was a vpn previously setup with an old hosting provider, but those connections have been servered. Right now I am trying to get the sites to talk to the 2801. How to install 2-port vic3 2fxs/DID and 2-port vic2 fxo on cisco 2801 router

Hello
I'm looking for information on how to install 2 newly purchased cards and keep running into dead links. The cards I bought are for a CISCO-2801-CCME/K9 with PVDM2-8, FL-CCME-25, SP Services 128F/256D cisco router:
vic3 2fxs/DID and a vic2 2fxo.
I keep finding documents on how to install these cards but all links are dead and leading to nowhere.

The 2 documents i'm looking for are: how to install a 2-port vic2 fxo cards on cisco 2801 router and how to install 2-port vic3 2fxs/DID cards on the same 2801 cisco router.
NOTE: I've never installed these cards and am not sure if:
Does my ios support both of these cards?
and which slots do I install those in the router.
I have 4 slots like this:

I was able to figure out what goes where and found out that the IOS i had c-2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-15.T10.bin with cme-full-4.1.0.2 tar didn't support the vic3 2fxs/DID card. The question I have now is since the previous version ran with cme-full-4.1.0.2 tar i'm not sure if this needs to be changed since in the compatibility matrix i found this IOS c2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-22.YB5.bin to be compatible with cme-full-7.1.0.0 tar
Do i need to remove cme-full-4.1.0.2 tar and install the cme-full-7.1.0.0 tar?
If yes, i know how to install the cme-full-7.1.0.0 tar but how do i remove the other cme-full-4.1.0.2 tar file in order to be able to install the other version?

2801 Router Bandwidth

Hi, I'm thinking about buying a 2801 router, and adding a gigabit HWIC card to handle some intervlan routing, with one of the two fast ethernet ports being a link out to the internet. This is mostly just for a test setup. Do you guys think the 2801 will be able to handle routing at a gigabit. I ask because way back when my old 2600 router's CPU usage would top out when the data got high.

A 2801 doesn't really have the capacity for a pair of FEs let alone a gig port.
Also, the HWIC port might struggle with a gig port too.

No service password recovery command on cisco 2801 router

HI,
we have a cisco 2801 router in class which has a disabled pasword recovery. We tried almost everything, we cannot get into ROMmon and the break sequence dosent work in any program (hyper terminal, putty, teraterm pro). We dont have any idea how to solve this problem.

I usually suffer from the same issue, but what works for me everytime is the other method that simulates break sequence. Can't find the documentation for it but this is how it goes:
Set the serial connection as follows in Putty:
Baud rate 1200
1 stop bit
8 data bits
no parity
no flow control
Turn off your router, then turn it back on and immediately press the spacebar for about 10-15 seconds. All you'll see is giberish. After that reset your console connection settings to the usual 9600 baud rate, and you'll find yourself in rommon mode.

VIC3-4FXO/DID module not detect in 2801 Router.

I have Cisco 2801 router with 2 DSP 16 Channel, 128 MB DRAM and 128 MB flash. I am using IOS c2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-3i but the VIC3-4FXO/DID module is not detected. I tried to upgrade the IOS to 15.0 and 15.1 but the router is not boot up due to insufficient memory. In that IOS the FXO card is detected. I checked the data sheet of both router and FXO card it support 12.4T IOS but when I upload the IOS and try to boot same problem I have faced (router not boot due to insufficient memory). Kindly help me find out the appropriate IOS to resolve the issue.

Yes, anotther VIC card can be added, but you will also need to upgrade PVDM2, becase the 8-channels currently installed is totally used by the existing 8 FXS ports.

Please help me to setup a SIP account. I’m already struggling to do that for a few days, and can’t find out how to finish that. We have 2xISDN lines running, so I need to add a SIP trunk to existing config.

I made some changes in the router configuration.
I removed FA0/0.2 Voice interface from Voice service voip configuration (bind control source-interface FastEthernet0/0.2 and bind media source-interface FastEthernet0/0.2). And now it’s using ip address 10.1.1.101 (data ip).
The debugging is changed now. I can send and receive a respond from SIP server. But It shows an error: SIP/2.0 404 Not Found
Then it moves to ISDN line, and use this line to make a call.

Then I removed SIP-UA as I was told there is no registration necessary, only Dial-peer configuration.
But it didn’t affect anything.
Then I add translate-outgoing called 10 command to dial-peer 9000, nothing happened.
Really stuck and don't know where to look at.

Yes, I saw that RTP debugging, but what can I change there? Maybe I need to open more ports on ASA for RTP like 19412?
I use Cisco ASDM for ASA to make changes.
There are static NAT rules for: Server source IPs(10.1.1.100) to Outside(translated IPs, 88.99.77.44) for a few ports.
Also I added Security policy access rules for LAN: Any to SIP, and Outside: SIP to any.
For NAT:
I can't add this: for LAN: STATIC ROUTER IP 10.1.1.101 (AS SOURCE) UDP 5060 TO OUTSIDE IP 88.99.77.44
(AS TRANSLATED) UDP 5060
Because there is already translation for the Server.
Debugging looks like that now. There is no Received: SIP/2.0, but I can make an outside call with no audio.

How to correct bad PAB addresses that route through old GWIA

Old system was GW 7.x on NetWare 6.5 servers.
New system is GW 8.0.2HP2 on Windows 2008 servers.
We moved to new hardware, etc. when we upgraded to GW 8. It's time to turn off the old GWIA but I find that many people have saved addresses (I assume mostly in Frequent Contacts) that route messages through our old GWIA. Doing a grep search of the old GWIA logs on the term "sender" is how I know this is still how these messages are flowing.
Anyway, for example, there is a user that sends messages to his VP and that VP's address shows to be "Firstname Lastname ("[email protected]@etmc.org) in the properties of the message. With the old GWIA off messages to this address remain in Pending status. Turn the old GWIA back on and the message goes on through.
Does the GWCheck PABFix option correct these stored addresses in personal address books, or is there another way, or any way at all?

I just had this problem after upgrading to 2012. An old utility (gwpabasr.exe) saved the day. You can find it in the file finder on the download site. Yes, it is OLD but it worked. Just be careful of the location of the gwpabasr.sri. It looks for it in the local windowsa directory. I know I am late to post to this request but maybe some else is looking for it.

With the old GWIA off messages to this address remain in Pending status. Turn the old GWIA back on and the message goes on through.
Does the GWCheck PABFix option correct these stored addresses in personal address books, or is there another way, or any way at all?

PPC QUAD Owners -- Got Bad Fan Noise w/Logic (or just in general)?

I'm having a terrific noise problem with my Quad's (now) overactive fans. When I first got the Quad this was not a problem. Seems to have started after an update from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 or 10.4.5. With respect to Logic, the fans go into hyperdrive (blowing relatively cool air) after I launch Logic, even when it's sitting idle with a bare-bones autoload song loaded (no plugs at all). When I quit Logic, the fans start to calm down but it takes sveral minutes to settle down completely.
Even accessing the dock or loading up this forum on Safari will cause the fans to rev, but Logic is the thing that seems to trigger this behavior the most -- and the worst.
Anyone else with a Quad is experiencing the same thing? Particularly with Logic running?
I'd be grateful if anyone can offer offer troubleshooting advice. Here's some info:
- reinstalled the system software numerous times, no change
- all Apple RAM installed (6 G)
- running 2 monitors, but with only one connected, no difference
- using wall current or UPS current makes no difference

Thanks for the continued feedback/replies. Will be living with the computer/hair dryer combo for another week as the Apple store techs in my area are all booked up until after Labor Day. Gotta say, tho, that the $100 to be a ProCare member gets ya good attention from those guys.
Would still appreciate hearing about other Quad owner's experiences with their fans/noise level of their systems, just for comparison sake.

V210 bad fan - Identify which CPU physically is the one involved

I have a V210 server.
One of the fans for the CPU's has failed. I want to replace it (have the replacement part) but I don't know physically which CPU is the one that is effected. I have a admin guide, but it doesn't show the internals of the machine, just normal replaceable parts.
The error:
CPU_FAN @ MB.P0.F0.RS has FAILED
Indicates it is the Motherboard CPU 0 fan, but there are 2 CPU's in the box. Which one is CPU 0 and CPU 1?
How do I tell? Cant seem to find a diagram of the box internals to differentiate between the various CPU's

Satelite A500-1HK has bad fan problem

Please , I been trying to figure out the reason why my FAN is working at 80% of its power even tho the Core temp is so low ,, and the fan is making massive noise, well Compairing to the Laptops with same systems in it ,,, and seems that my laptop iss mkaing noise on class, I cant take it to university becaus of the sound it makes ! Fan should get a rest aswell ! .... anyway ,, I heared that TOSHIBA had that problem with Prev. Products on the Past , Just been beggin you to give me a solution, and Fast,,,
I need the Laptop to be with me on Classes ! but its noisy ! too much .... I heared it has somthing to do with the BIOS version,,, like in first 10 days I got it , it was great and smooth , but when TOSHIBA Update program asked me to update BIOS to v1.9 fan been going crazy !!!

Did you try to change the settings in the Win 7 power management?
Do this!
There you can change the settings for CPU and cooling module performance
This will reduce the fan activity.

That information is from the card I have installed in the computer. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth replacing the heatsink and fan or it would be easier to just buy a new card? What's an equivalent card? As far as I can tell, there is no radeon hd 7500. It's not for sale anywhere.
Does anyone have a link on how to replace the heatsink on a graphics card? I'm not even sure if it can be done.

Overheating DP G4 1.25....BAD FAN

My trusty DP G4 1.25 just started to freeze up, video screen goes black, computer stays on, re-started and same thing happened within a few minutes.
restarted again, and quickly check tempurature using Temprature Monitor, and found a temp of 79ºC! way too high.
I started up using the Tech tool hardware test disc, but it does not check the fan.
After repeated restarts, I found the main fan is not turning on, and now I can smell burnt electronics! Yikes!
I am no longer turning on the computer, and am looking for any leads to replacing the main large fan that cools the CPU fins.

The drop in noise is AWSOME.
It's a bit pricey, but I was about to trow my MDD thru the window.

Please note that this kit is compatible only with dualies.
Installation is a breeze.
In my specific case I also bought a Fan (G03 Graphics Card Cooler) for my Video card (9800 Radeon) and found out that the 2 kits were not really compatible witout some tweeking.
P.S. If you really want it quiet at max, there is also the M12 kit for replacing the PSU fans.
