  • Adobe Flash Player 10.1 issues, errors with Quickbooks Pro 2010 installation

I recently - uh today - had an agonizing experience installing Quickbooks Pro 2010 because I kept receiving error messages during the Quickbooks installation. It was a new cd that I had purchased a few months ago from Costco, and had been putting off using it, or even installing it.
So today, I tried to install it, and failed repeatedly. I kept getting the same message, Adobe Flash player file is unavailable - with a drop down screen showing the location of the flash player file that the installation software was trying to find so it could continue the installation. I think I recall seeing an error message originally with Adobe Flash Player 10.1, but it's been a long day, so maybe the error was always referring to Flash Player 8.0.  I tried to browse for a new location that the Flash Player file might be located, looking through the Program Files\Adobe and coming up with nothing.
I spent a long time looking through the discussion forums on both Quickbooks and Adobe trying to find the answer, also turning off and on my computer,  ha. And I installed the latest Flash version, Flash Player 10.1, then uninstalled it and then reinstalled it, and then uninstalled it and looked for the obsolete Flash Player 8.0 which I couldn’t find on Adobe’s website, but found links to in two other forums…So basically, I tried to solve this on my own, and it didn't work.
So...I was whining to a friend who suggested I just call Quickbooks technical support. Duh, why didn't I think of that? I guess because the packaging on the new software says that fees may apply if you call customer service.  Well, it doesn't apply to the first call, and also it's crazy to charge someone who can't even install the program. So I called them, and was on hold forever.
    But the problem was solved.
The tech support person, Manish, was able to install Quickbooks by completely bypassing the usual installation procedure.  He checked for compatibility, which was fine, I have Windows XP, etc. and then I believe went to control panel, add or remove programs, and clicked on add programs, and followed the icons with the Wizard to install the latest version of Quickbooks.  The interesting thing here is that QB has some special download to allow remote access during a trouble shooting call. It initially freaked me out, but it worked just fine, since I could see what was happening on my computer screen even though I wasn't the one operating the computer.
I asked Manish why this installation method seemed to work. He said some of the Quickbooks cds have a bad Flash Player program file, and doing it this way seems to bypass it. He also said that Quickbooks should not compatibility issues with Flash 8.0 or Flash 10.1, but there were some problems noted with Flash Player 9.0.  I asked if I would have problems if I uninstalled Flash Player 8.0 and then reinstalled 10.1. He said there shouldn’t be problems, so that’s what I just finished doing.
Hopefully this is helpful for someone else out there in cyberland.
Also, it was kind of helpful, someone else posted on another forum that you could check what flash files you have by going to C:\Windows\System 32\Macromed\Flash, because I couldn’t even find where the Flash Player was installed.  They are not in the Program files under Adobe.

Hi, well that sounds like quite an ordeal. Your Flash files are located in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash with a right click and post back all files listed there. It may be a good idea to just confirm that they are correct.
Then Using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Manage addons and Toolbars & Extensions and look for a box Show all add ons.
You should find Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control..Flash10h.ocx and make sure it is enabled.
The Flash files and that ActiveX Control is Flash Player.
Now if you use another browser, you may want to post that version info as well. Also, what service pack do you have with XP?
    Thanks,

  • "Flash player upgrade required" ??

Hi, i am having a problem i have not encountered untill now..
I keep getting this "update required" message when i want to watch a video on Facebook, but everywhere else it works fine, i installed the latest version but it still pops up this same message whenever i want to watch something..
This is only happening on Facebook and nowhere else, does anyone know what could be the problem and maybe have a solution to it?
I am using an ASUS laptop running Windows 8 , and using Chrome as my browser
    Thank you in advance

Google Chrome includes a built-in Flash Player and is always up to date, as long as Chrome is allowed to install automatic updates.
If it's specific to a website or a handful of sites, it's probably just bad Flash Player detection code, which they would need to fix.
if you're seeing it everywhere and you're on your home network, you might want to restart your wifi router and then install the latest available firmware for it.

  • I have an older version of flash player in my new computer and I can't uninstall it it is system 32 and I have system 64 I am not much of a computer person and need help I keep getting pop ups saying there is a bad image

I have an older version of flash player that seems to be in my computer_16_0_0_305.exe and it says bad image
I could not uninstall it and put a new one in. I keep getting this pop up 2 and 3 times.

    Hi,
The Flash Player installer is a universal installer for both 32 and 64-bit systems.  On a 64-bit OS, it installs both versions, on a 32-bit OS, it installs only the 32-bit version.  I'm confused by why you think you only have the 32-bit version.  Please provide more information, including screenshots (How to post a screenshot in the forum) so that we may further troubleshoot your situation.
    Thank you.

  • Is the latest version of Adobe Flash Player bad for my macbook pro? I have heard different things like it causes MBP to overheat. any truth to this?

From research on different communities, I have read that Adobe flash player will cause my macbook to overheat, and a bunch of other rumors. is there any proof or truth that Adobe flash player is bad for my macbook pro? I installed it a couple hours ago and so far nothing has happened but im worried about the future.

    SgtKeebler wrote:

That might have been true for the 13" Intel HD 3000 graphics models, but the newer machines with Intel HD 4000 have a bit more kick in the CPU graphics.
and a bunch of other rumors. is there any proof or truth that Adobe flash player is bad for my macbook pro?
No it's not bad, it's just that the late Steve Jobs came out publicly against Flash because it couldn't run on the new low performance devices like iPads and iPhones that he was serving up.
So a lot of young people took it as a mission to kill Flash and bad mouth it to death.
What you do have to do, like you need to do with any browser plug-in or software, is be careful from where you install it from as there are many websites that will try to trick one into installing a fake one.
Many people thus tricked into installing a trojan immediately blame Flash as the cause, when it's not.
Also you have to keep it updated, but using a browser like Chrome will do it for you and Firefox will not let you run outdated web browser plugins.
Safari also blocks outdated plugins, but Apple is very slow to issue updates so it's almost worthless.

  • Bad installer for 'Flash Player 11.7.700.261' released on 2/4/2014?

Hi, where can we get a good installer for Flash Player 11.7.700.261? It seems like the one available at this link is a bad one: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html#main_Archived_F lash_Player_versions_for_developers. After you download it, you will get an error when you try to unzip it.
    -- Team OCD.

I just downloaded fp_11.7.700.261_archive.zip and unzipped it with no problems.
The file size should be 143,718 KB (147,166,947 bytes); if you have anything else, then you got a corrupted download.

  • Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation..is this bad?

In the past few days I've been receiving this message when I visit certain sites, it shows briefly and then goes away before I can click on it or take a screen shot. My concern is because I clicked on a bad link (but provided no personal information). I'm worried that a virus of some kind is on my machine. I have a MacBookPro running OS 10.6.8. I was running Firefox 8.0.1 but just updated to 9.0.1.
After I clicked the link, I cleaned out my cookies, history, cache, and active logins. I made sure all my software was up to date. I tried to search for a solution, but I have been unable to determine whether this new error message is bad or not.
    Thanks!

If you didn't grant permission to the Flash Player then it probably is OK and nothing went wrong.

  • Flash player lags bad with Firefox but not with google chrome, what is the problem ?

Every time i try to play any game using flash player with Firefox i have a lot of lag time. I have to stop playing and wait for things to catch up to play to play any more,I do not have this problem with google chrome playing the same games.I have updated all add ons and plugins.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == about a month ago

Everyone can blame flash player if they want, but the truth is for me I went from an earlier version that had plugin container which created lag for me. I disabled the plugin container in about:config settings, and firefox worked fine. Plugin container screwed up any videos i tried to watch on the internet by freezing, lagging, and crashing firefox. I was fine after I disabled plugin container, but then eventually some time later down the road I received a warning that i would soon be forced to update my mozilla so I eventually/reluctantly gave in and complied. At this point the same problems started again!!! I disabled plugin container again and it did help a bit right away. But this version 12.0 even with plugin container disabled with just a few tabs open I receive choppy video (like a snapshot of the video at 3 seconds in, and then another snap at 6 seconds in) I'm only seeing snapshots of the video like every 3 seconds while the audio continues on fine. That"s how bad the lag is. This is horrible performance for a browser. If I try to load a video while one is already playing, just that little bit of stress (2 youtube videos open at once) is all it takes to crash this poor performing version of firefox. I mean I can't even close the tabs after these situations and the audio sometime runs after closing for me as well. These problems did not start until the version changes of firefox and the addition of plugin container, not flash player. I have been a loyal mozilla fan, but my patients is wearing so so thin with the performance of this browser at the moment. Unfortunately I just realized for the first time ever I actually have to (against my will) install another browser just to watch videos. How sad is that? Considering watching videos is one of the main uses of a browser, I consider this version a failure. How could I not??? I guess I have no choice but to Chrome it up. I hope a fix for this problem can be found soon for I miss the great performing days of this previously top performing browser. Fingers Crossed!!!

  • Flash Player version 10 results bad timing of TurboDemo generatred swf file

Our flash educational presentations are working bad in the
latest Flash Player version (10). We made them in TurboDemo, and
generated flash file, which could be run from our website. However
with new flash player the preset timing of page turning does not
work. It waits much longer, than the programmed timing. In earlier
versions everything worked well, but know it's a disaster, which
makes our numerous educational presentation un-enjoyable. The
videos are just waiting for nothing for long seconds from page to
page, which ruins the smooth flow of the presentation.
Can anybody help how can we fix this issue???
    Andras

I doubt there's anything we can do on our side. You'll need
to contact TurboDemo so they can test with their original source
code and try to find the cause.

In the meantime you'll probably need to recommend your users
    revert to Flash Player 9.

  • Flash player 10.1 or 10.2 for Samsung Wave (Bada OS)

Is there a reason why Samsung and Adobe will not get together and make Flash player 10.1, soon 10.2, available for Wave mobiles? I really like the Wave GT S8500, but not having flash player 10.1 is a real drawback and is starting to annoy me more and more, expecially since the new flash player 10.2 does not seem to be in the pipe line for Bada OS either. I don't like the Android moblies I've tried so far and iPhone... well I don't even want to get stared with my opinions about Apple...
The Wave GT S8500 would be close to perfect (todays standard) if one could install flash player 10.1 in my opinion.

    Hi,
Are you debugging AS 2 or AS 3 files?  Note that the Flash IDE uses the StandAlone Player for debugging AS 3 files.  Also, what issues are you encountering in the player used for Test Movie that is fixed in the browser/standalone players?

  • Error Flash Player Update service 11.6 r602 ... Bad file

I'm running on Windows Vista 32 with IE9. (an old Dell). I first noticed this problem when the Latest version of Flash Player was updated. Periodically windows will show an Error Flag saying the Flash Player update Service has stopped working...sometimes this flag has interfered with the smooth functioning of programs that I have running; mostly it is an annoyance.
I asked about this last week and was told to try a manual uninstall and check for the removal of all the files. Here is where I ran into the problem. But first, the steps. The Uninstaller did most of the work.
All of the rest of the files were easy to delete; EXCEPT for one. In C:/windows/system32/macromed/Flash is the file 'FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe'  11.6 r602  Version 11.6.602.180  ... It refuses to be deleted !!! I think this is the source of all the problems. I think that it is supposed to function Only with FP Ver. 11.6. and when an updated version is installed, it is left behind AND CAN'T BE deleted.
I checked the Permissions of this file and the user can only read and execute the file, nothing else. Trying to change the permissions gets you a duplicate file that can be deleted. the original file is untouched.
I have tried as Admin to delete it, no luck. I tried the "Unlocker" program and it can't find a handle. It offers to delete it on next reboot, but the file is still there.
I tried to go at it using DOS commands and get an Access Denied. Short of using a .357 Magnum; How do I kill this File????
By the way, I went ahead and reinstalled the latest FP and it works fine... Just this annoying flag keeps poping up every now and then.
P.S. I'm thinking about starting the computer in Safemode or do without windows (DOS only) and see if it will let me delete it that way, but I'm not sure I can remember all the old DOS command structure that I need.
    John

An Update: The DOS attempt did not work. (access denied) Don't Bother trying. program was in use, even though it stopped working. I finally figured out that the program somehow gets started a WIN startup... I used "Glary Utilities" in the Modules section... - System Tools - Process Manager: to Stop the Process.  Then I used in the Privacy & Security tag - File Shredder: to erase the file. ... But It Came back...again.
So I did Another Clean Uninstall After I first (as Administrator (Right click on Delete)) deleted the file C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\ FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe  (Version 11.6.602.180)  Be sure that it is the Older file that you delete!
Refer to  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315  for the procedure.
I followed the steps carefully and double checked that all and ONLY the files called for were deleted. It surprised me that in step 5. I found still another copy of  the offending file (same date) FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe (I deleted it to (as Admin (right click on delete))).
Finally I did a new Install by going to http://get.adobe.com/FlashPlayer and following the process. Note: If you have WeatherBug, shut it down first before going to the installer. (otherwise you will just have to shut it down anyway and the install may not finish (took me 2 tries)) Also, do not close your IE page until the installer tells you to or it may get confused (it did on me the first time).
I (Hopefully) have this problem corrected now.
Note: After the New install if you use windows Explorer & go to C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash  and look at the file FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe you will see that it has a Newer version.

  • Flash Player 10: Bad Apple Support Info

Over on the download page http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/adobeflashplayer.html Apple says:
    Flash Player 10.0.22.87
    System Requirements
    * Mac OS X 10.1 or later
    * 500MHz PowerPC G3 processor or higher
    * Firefox, Safari, and Opera
Please note: you can download the updater but it won't install on OS X prior to 10.4. So Apple's information is wrong.
If a site has media that requires Player 10, you won't be able to view it with Flash Player 9 and your browser may hang.
The "need to update Flash" message appears, for example, on videos at Huffington Post.
The beachball of doom appears, for example, on videos on Daily Kos.
This based on problems on a G4 running 10.3.9 / FP9 / Firefox 3. If you try to play certain videos which apparently require Flash 10, Firefox goes into infinite beachball land until you execute a Force Quit.
These problems do NOT appear on my Dual Core running 10.4.9, same version of Firefox, and Flash 10.

I repeat: Apple's information is wrong.
From Adobe's Flash Player 10 site:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/systemreqs/
    Platform
    Browser
    Mac OS X v10.4 or 10.5 (PowerPC)
Firefox 2.x, Firefox 3.x, AOL for Mac OS X, Opera 9.5, Safari 3.x.
    Mac OS X v10.4.x or 10.5 (Intel)
    Firefox 2.x, Firefox 3.x, Opera 9.5, Safari 3.x
    --- and ---
    Note
Flash Player 10 is not available for Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows ME, *Macintosh OSX 10.1 – 10.3,* and Red Hat® Enterprise Linux 3 and 4 operating systems. To download the latest Flash Player 9 for these operating systems, visit the following TechNote.
