Bad IIOP connection :(((
Hi,
I have Oracle 8.1.7 on NT 4.0 advanced server (cluster configuration). It workes fine, but there is one problem, I can't make IIOP connection from other computer (from same computer I can do it without any problems). In the listener log file there are messages showed my attempts, but they's status is OK.
I added dns name in file 'host', but the trouble was not solved. I think the problem is other, since I can connect to other Oracle (8.1.6) that works on the other server (Windows 2000 Advanced Server) in the same networks.
Thanks,
Sergey.

IIOP connection from JDeveloper does not work
I'm trying to run some sample EJB programs but cannot connect to the IIOP port from JDeveloper. I have installed Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise on my machine, and it includes a listening location for IIOP on port 2481 under the listener. I can connect to JServer on this database from DBA Studio using various user/passwords, so the IIOP connection seems to work in principle.
But when I try to set up an IIOP connection from JDeveloper (v.3.1.1.2), the "Test" button fails to connect, but does not give any details on the reason for the error.
I have tried using the command line utility sess_sh, but this fails telling me the URL is invalid, even though it is exactly the same as the URL I connected to in DBA Studio.
Why can I connect from DBA Studio but not from JDeveloper, and can anyone tell me how to get this connection to work?
(It shouldn't be this hard to get a simple "Hello world" EJB to work!)
Thanks,
ChrisYou must use Jdev 3.2.x to communicate with RDBMS 8.1.7.
Jdev 3.1.x.x is for RDBMS 8.1.6. -
IIOP Connection Problem to 8i on Linux
Hi,
I have installed Oracle 8.1.5 on Linux (Red Hat 6.1 -Kernel 2.2.12) Listener is configured for IIOP connection. When I issue the command
sess_sh -u scott/tiger -s sess_iiop://192.168.6.121:2481:eswap
from the linux box it connects to the orb shell.
When I try the same command from another machine in the network I get the error
Cannot connect to service: sess_iiop://192.168.6.121:2481:eswap
I am able to connect to the database from this machine using sqlplus.
What is that I am missing here? Do I need to add this port (2481) in the /etc/services file. My listener is named as lsnreswap, and the only entry that I have made in
/etc/services is
lsnreswap 1521/tcp
Or is there any other reason for this?
I need to get this functional urgently to try deployment of ejb from JDeveloper
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanx
Gopal
nullHi,
Thanx for the tip. Listener.log shows all the
iiop connections as establish. There are no firewall between the client and server. And the listener name is back to the default one.
Still the problem remains same.
But I found out some interesting thing. Earlier my db was running with only the iiop in mts mode. (ie
mts_dispatchers="(PROTOCOL=tcp)(PRE=oracle.aurora.server.SGiopServer)" only was there in init.ora) I put this to init.ora
mts_dispatchers="(protocol=tcp)(DISP=2)(MUL=off)(pool=off)" to make net 8 connections also in mts mode.
After this when I try to connect from a client machine using sqlplus I'm getting this error
ORA-12545 - Connect failed because targer host or object does not exist.
I'm able to do a tnsping. Listener log shows the connection as establish. But I'm able to get the connection only through dedicated mode. So I have a feeling that this has something to do with the mts and not with the listener.
However I am able to connect from within my linux box using sqlplus as well as sess_sh, using iiop. v$session table shows the connection as 'shared' too.
Any idea what could be the reason?
Thanx,
Gopal

Hi,
I can`t establish IIOP Connection from JDeveloper 3.0 to Oracle 8.1.5 Enterprise DB Server.
Let me describe my situation:
One PC running Oracle 8.1.5 DB Server under NT Workstation 4.0 (host: leobeln)
Another PC running JDeveloper 3.0 under NT Workstation 4.0 too.
At server side, I used Net8 Assistant to configure a listener as follow:
Name: listener_iiop
Protocol: TCP/IP
Port: 2481
Host:leobeln, and checked the option: "Dedicate this endpoint for IIOP Connections"
I set de Database Service tab as follow:
Global DB Name: Test
SID: Test (both name and SID are correct)
Finally I saved this configuration and sarted the listener using LSNRCTL utility.
When try to test connection from JDev, I receive the following error message:
Can`t find resource for bundle oracle.aurora.jndi.sess_iiop.Message, key UNKNOWN_SERVICE:default.
The connection properties are:
UserName: scott
Connection Type: IIOP
URL: sess_iiop://leobeln:2481:Test
The final objective is to deploy an App Module (BC4J) on Oracle 8i platform as EJB Session Bean
somebody may help me ?
Thanks
PPTry connecting with the command line sess_sh tool that comes with your database. If that fails as well, then post a message to the Oracle JVM forum here for assistance.
Take Care,

Does OC4J support RMI/IIOP connections ?
Hi,
I have only one question :
Does OC4J support IIOP connections ?
I'd like to connect as EJB client to OLAPService on Oracle9i server (CORBA object), but I can't.
Thanks in advanceThanks for your timely post Debu.
I would like to state that I read and followed the guides (same files as those ponted by the links you just provided) and tried this:
1. Sample J2EE Application using ORMI in OC4J Standalone (this works ok)
2. Same but now using ORMIS (this also works fine)
3. Tried same J2EE App using IIOP; took these steps:
3.1 commented out the rmi.xml security lines,
3.2 enabled ports in internal-settings.xml,
3.3 changed the jndi.properties - now using corbaname URL,
3.4 enabled the IIOP stub generation in the JVM settings at oc4j startup, and finally
3.5 deployed the EAR using the generateIIOP flag.
The result: the exception I posted above
4. Tried with IIOP/SSL, did these steps:
4.1 configured the keystore settings in both internal-settings.xml and ejb_sec.properties
4.2 and added <ior-security-config> config elements to orion-ejb-jar.xml.
The exception here is a little bit different:

How to create IIOP connection in JDeveloper?
For my present application, I am using BC4J & JSP. At the time of deployment, tool is asking IIOP connection. For that, I tried to create new IIOP Connection. But, while testing the connection, it is saying "No Permission" ERROR. How to solve this? My DB is supporting JServer.
Thanks,
Radha Krishnan.CHi,
I have just nw, got it succeeded.
I just granted
SQL> grant sysdba to sri;
After that I am able to create connection with role 'sysdba'. Hope this post would be useful for someone who tries.
Thanks for your reply.

I got the following message "Cannot connect to service: sess_iiop://localhost:2482:test" when I try to deployment EJB and I use the 8.1.7. and Jdev 3.2. Please advise what is wrong for my IIOP connection. From the listener.log, the connection looks good.

IIOP connection problems .: JDeveloper 3.1 and Oracle 8.1.6
This is my 4th day working on this problem. I cannot get an IIOP connection to work.
I have verfied that the listener is running on port 2481, I have been inside of the init.ora, listeners.ora, I have read the error inside of listeners.log, and I have been trying things with the Net8 Assistant also.
Most of the posts on this subject seem older, I am wondering if anyone has had this problem recently with the versions that I am using. There are so many things I have been told to change, I'm wondering if there is a definitive list of steps to fix this problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated.r singh wrote:

RamanandHi,
Sure. Your URL should be "jdbc:oracle:thin:@myOracleServer:1521:myDBName"
not "jdbc.oracle.thin:@myOracleServer:1521:myDBName"

Deploy, IIOP connection, Unable to connect to Oracle 8i using IIOP
Hi,
I have a working JDBC connection to my Oracle 8i Enterprise DB server but when i try to establish a IIOP connection to the same server i get the following error message:
"Can4t find resource for bundle oracle.aurora.jndi.sess_iiop.Messages, key UNKNOWN_SERVICE:default"
The connection params are as follows:
JDBC4s URL jdbc:oracle:thin:@leobeln:1521:Prueba
IIOP4s URL
sess_iiop://leobeln:2481:Prueba
Same user for both connections: scott
Some ideas ?
TIA,
PPedro
If you haven't done so already, I suggest you try to establish the IIOP connection using JDeveloper's connection manager.
You can use Net8 assistant to check that you have a port set up to receive IIOP connections. Instructions are in the Net8 administrator's guide; in the Oracle 8.1.6 documentation it's in chapter 7, "Configuring the Listener", under the subheading "Configuring Listening Addresses for Oracle8i JServer". Check that you have a port set up to receive IIOP connections, and make sure that you're using that port number when setting up the IIOP connection in JDeveloper.
The Oracle8i documentation is available on this site - select Documentation from the menu on the left.

Deployment and IIOP connection
Hi All
I've been trying to deploy a very simple set of EJBs to Oracle 9IAS but i can't set up the IIOP connection in JDeveloper to deploy my beans - i keep getting Unknown Service error thrown by Connection exeception
I specify username and password for my database, host id is the name of the machine running Apache and Oracle 9ias(Oracle 8.1.6 database resides on a different machine), SID for my database and port is 2481
Can anyone help me out here or give me a link to the page that contains information on how to set up IIOP connection???

Is it possible to change timeout values or other to correct this misbehaviour?
Regards, LeoAll of my songs were erased (i'm not really sure why it just happened while i was charging it. It said something about factory settings (?)) and it said to restore it to fix the problem. When i press restore it says the network connection has timed out. I'm sure everything is connected also. i have no idea what to do to fix it and i cant sync my songs back on till i do! my iPod is useless at the moment.
