Bad install or bug in my copy of FCP ?

Hi there,
I experience some weird problems with my new version of FCP7, such as unable to copy paste, delete, blocks of text or pictures in the ti;eline or simply save my project when I use the cmd C,V or S.
All these work when I use them from the edit menu. Forinstance, I can copy from the edit menu and paste with cdmV.
Everything works fine if
- I delete FCP preferences (user data folder and plist)prior to restart. Then FCP is asking serial number, and works fine, until I switch off the computer or restart, or log off and relog. Then the same weird behavior occurs...
Of course I checked that cdm+any key is working in other applications.
All that to say I believe that either the FCP7 disk that I used to install on my brand new Mac (no migration performed) with OS10.6.2 is faulty
or that there was a glitch during the installation process.
What would be the best way to proceed
1) to know whether the disk is faulty
2) to re-install FCP (should I reinstall the whole package as I have not yet tried motion, and other applications ...)
I understand that reinstall is not going to wipe off the previous install. Is that correct ?
Could someone advise me so as I don't spend my whole week end fooling around doing wrong things...

Hi,
If you do a search on this forum you will find that doing a clean install of SL followed by Final Cut Studio is the best way to avoid problems including, possibly, the ones you have.

Bridge CS6 Mac XMP File Info Panel Bug: can't copy and paste metadata

The cmd-keys / shortcuts doesn't work in the xmp file info panel btw. in the xmp / iptc fields (e.g. cmd+c, cmd+v, ...) of Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.7.3). You are not able to cut and paste info from one box to another like previous versions.
This bug only appears in the xmp file info window (opened via alt+i) in Bridge CS6 - if you edit information or metadata in the file info panel in Photoshop CS6 copy and paste from one field to another works.
The shortcuts also work under Windows (tested under Vista).
I noticed this minor bug already one in the Photoshop CS6 Beta more than one months ago. I hoped that this was corrected in the official test version, but unfortunately it is not. Although it is a minor bug, it is IMHO a basic function and would be very helpful in my daily work - it is too bad, that such a small thing is making working with the application a little bit annoying.

Cant retore after bad install of 10.5

HELP
Did an install of Leopard using Archive, was a bad install, apple care walked me through doing a 'erase and install" Was feeling good that I had done a full backup to an external Lacie drive the day before.
now when i try to do a restore, it scans , then says restore failed, I copied the file to my desl top think that may be the problem?
any suggestions,

I used apples Back up, that comes with .mac
did weekly home folder back up to lacie disk
yesterday morning, i did a new "full" back up, vs the weekly incremental, did not do an erase install on purpose, ut had to because of a bad install, now I open back up, select "home folder" select restore, it scans about 25,000 items, then says restore failed,
the home folder back up is 56GB

Bug in the copy cluster roles wizard - CSV reparse points cannot have names with spaces

Hi All,
I have identified a bug in the copy cluster roles wizard in 2012 R2, which is preventing me from migrating my clusters from 2008 R2 & 2012 to 2012 R2.
The bug surfaces when you attempt to copy a VM role from a 2008 R2 or 2012 cluster that has a CSV reparse point name that contains spaces as follows:
The role appears to copy across fine, but once you've migrated the CSV and brought it online followed by starting the VM, the VM configuration resource promptly fails along with the VM.
The issue can be spotted inside the copy cluster roles wizard, where it presents itself by removing all text after the first space in the name to read "C:\ClusterStorage\CSV" rather than "C:\ClusterStorage\CSV
Test Disk 3" as follows:
The bug only appears for VMs on CSVs with a reparse point name containing spaces - all other scenarios succeed.
After searching through the registry on the new cluster, you can clearly see that the VM role hasn't been correctly copied.
It shows a value called SharedVolumeMappings with the data C:\ClusterStorage\CSV|<guid>|<integer>
Whereas it should show the data C:\ClusterStorage\CSV Test Disk 3|<guid>|<integer>
If you modify the data in the SharedVolumeMappings value in both
0.Cluster\Resources\<VM guid> and Cluster\Resources\<VM guid> keys, the VM will start and work correctly.
The problem for me is that I have many VMs on many different CSVs all with spaces in the names of the reparse point! Its not feasible for me to go through the registry for every copied VM on every node of the new cluster, as this would take a very long time
and would be prone to errors that could cause further problems.
Can anyone provide any help on this? A hotfix for the issue would be great, if anyone from Microsoft is reading :-)
My deadline to get the VMs migrated to the new cluster is the 21st February, so I would really like to have a solution to the problem before then if at all possible.

Do you have any idea of timescale? Or is it likely that I will have to modify the registry as above to get this working?
If I am going to have to modify the registry, please can you let me know if the resolution I have tested above is safe and viable? Or are there other settings that I will need to change to make the cluster fully aware of the proper path to the CSVs for its
VMs?
Also, is there a known procedure for renaming the reparse point whilst VMs are running on it? This would allow me to negate the issue before copying the roles to the new cluster :-)

Is your MacBook compatible with Mavericks? Open  > About this Mac > More Info, and you will see the MacBook model you have got. Then, check in this site if it's supported > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
If your Mac is not compatible, OS X 10.7.5 is the most recent version for your Mac. Also, copy the whole message you see when you open the Mavericks installer

You do meet the hardware requirements. Otherwise you wouldn't have been able to purchase ML.
If you're connected wirelessly to your router, connect with Ethernet.

Boot in safe mode (shift key down at startup) and try again.

After installing Mavericks I can't copy music files to an external music server, worked fine before mavericks

After installing Mavericks, I can't copy or move files to a music server running Vortexbox(Fedora Linux based). I get a cannot perform operation, you do not have permissions for some items. The permission arrow in get info shows I have both read and write permission. I am connecting to the server fine, just can't copy files.

Error while trying to install WS2012 R2 Essentials evaluation copy

While trying to install (Setup.exe) the evaluation copy of Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials which I downloaded from the Microsoft site, after clicking on install and the temporary files start to unpack, I received the following error:
Windows cannot open required file C:\Users\Donald\Desktop\Windows Server 2012 Essentials\9600.16384.WINBLUE_RTM.130821-1623_X64FRE_SERVER_SOLUTION_EN-US-IRM_SSSO_X64FRE_EN-US-DV5\Sources\install.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are
available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007000B
I checked in the sources folder and install.wim is present. Should I suspect the file is corrupt? This was extracted from the downloaded 9600.16384.WINBLUE_RTM.130821-1623_X64FRE_SERVER_SOLUTION_EN-US-IRM_SSSO_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5.ISO file.

I completely reinstall JDev and set it to use subversion ... that resolve the problem and i'm no more in a position to reproduce it.

How is it possible to use an employer's copy of FCP?

My employer wants to buy a copy of FCP for staff usage. Unfortunately, it's an all PC office, so it would have to operate on personal computers, like mine. Is it possible to buy a license, install it on my computer while I am working here, then "give it back" to my employer so they can use it in the future?
I assume this would mean installing it with an Apple ID other than my own. Thanks!

The employer should buy it with his Apple ID, which you run on your computer to download it. It's his Apple ID so at any time he can download it on another machine. Though if he runs it on multiple machines he should purchase multiple licenses.

Using old copy of FCP on v10.5 (Leopard)

I have a copy of FCP v3.0 that I want to use on a Leopard system. Apple says "this is unsupported". But can I get away with it anyway?

Copy of fcp .....

I bought a computer with fcp 4.5 already on it. Unfortunately, I do not have the fcp disc. Now I want to purchase a more powerful mac. Is it possible to copy my version of fcp to an external scsi drive, then connect that drive to a new computer, then load it on new computer???

Yeah, it's illegal, besides, there's no joy in having software when you know you can't ever reinstall the OS (for fear that it'll mess up the installation of the software). Yuk. Also, if you were planning on using that copy of FCP 4.5 on an Intel Mac, be advised that it wouldn't run well (if at all—and if you could figure out a way to transfer it to the new Mac).
Go find a copy of Final Cut Express—even a used copy on eBay will do—and use that instead. Unless you're doing high end professional work, you probably won't need any of FCP's advanced features. If you have an Intel Mac, you will need the current version of FCE (3.5). You can always use an older version of FCE as an upgrade path and get the newest version.

I currently have a G5 with a PowerPC chip and I am looking at purchasing one of the new MacBooks. However, I heard a rumor on the internet that my copy of FCP, which was purchased a year ago, will not run on the Intel machines.
