Bad link in T440 HDD removal instructions

As the member points out, the base cover removal link incorrectly points at a keyboard removal page.

  • I clicked on a bad link, and my safari stopped working,

hi guys I clicked on a bad link, and my safari stopped working,
when I click on safari, appears a phrase,
        (  SAFARI QUIT UNEXPECTEDLY )
CLICK REOPEN TO OPEN THE APPLICATION AGAIN, THIS  REPORT WILL BE SENT TO APPLE AUTOMATICALLY..
when I press the ok or reopen, the screen is frozen and Safari does not open.
please can anyone help me please?   thanks....

Malware or adware may be the culprit.
If you have a backup browser installed, download and run the AdMedic adware / malware removal tool here >  AdwareMedic
Easy and only takes a minute or two.
If you can't download AdwareMedic, follow the instructions here >  Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support

  • Portfolios, bad links & splash screens

(using acrobat 9 pro, XP, firefox) A bad internal link (page, document or folder) within a portfolio often results in the splash screen "For the best experience update your Acrobat Reader..." or words to that effect.  I need to prevent this and provide for one or all of the following alternatives when hitting a bad link:
    1. redirect to another page (without a splash screen, of course);
    2. do nothing.
(better yet, if it can inform me by email of  the bad-link and its location along with the above alternatives)
In any case, I do not wish to show the built in splash screen either during portfolio editing or when viewed online. Entirely unacceptable.  Any thoughts/methods to remove this annoyance?
(sorry if this should be posted to another forum.  please inform me if there is a better place to ask this type of ?)  - thank you.

It is obviously a bug. But if there is an internal bad link, the problem is with the document. Acrobat/Reader is just not handling the corrupted pdf file gracefully. The best you can do is ask Adobe to fix the problem:

  • T440s HDD "sticker" shield

Due to the hard drive failing, I've got a new hdd on the way from Lenovo. I've already removed the failing one (easier than I expected to be true) and I noticed that the HDD is wrapped in a kind of thin metallized plastic sheet, inside the plastic caddy.
I was considering upgrading to a bigger HDD instead of putting the replacement drive in (it's currently a travelstar 7k500). Which brings in a few questions which are not answered in the service manual (or I missed it):
    - should I remove the shield from the dead HDD to put it on the new one or would that create a problem when I return the old drive to lenovo ?
    - can a "bare" drive be used into the T440s hdd bay or is that shield mandatory ? The pcb side of the hdd is towards the bottom of the case, on which there are two rubber like bands to hold the drive in place.
I still have three years of warranty on that laptop, I'd rather not void it.
Thanks in advance for any help  :-)
    Ben.

It's built into the BIOS, so Windows Setup will pick it up automatically.

  • How do I remove VGrabber or other bad programs (that don't remove easy with unistall)?

lots of phony sites(like you don't know that) for removal of this sort of junk.
where is some GOOD through info step by step for removal?
I tried regedit and search and remove everything with vGrabber, rebooting etc, but it is still defaulting as my browser.
why isn't some big company like Microsoft or Google writing nice easy to use REAL removal tools?
Since these bad programs hijack users AWAY from Google, shouldn't Google be interested in defeating them?

Also, scan your computer with AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes.

  • Bad sectors Qosmio F60 HDD

    Qosmio F60 PQF65A-00Y002 Windows 7 Home Premium  SP1
After installing Windows SP1 I had a number of problems. I can't see how they were directly related but maybe some indirect effect. One of them is that suddenly I have a few very agreessively bad sectors on my HDD. A surprise as before SP1 the computer was all fantastic and reliable. However, after the fateful SP1 install I had immediately difficulties with the computer slowing down, the index corrupting etc. Chkdsk /R hangs up in the 4th part. I bought Spinrite and it found two locations on the disk which it cannot recover even after running it for several days and then repeating. The problem for me is that I had no good system image - my last backup failed and I did not get around to repeating it and now Windows backup system image fails and also third party backup stuff like EASEUS Todo Backup fails. I want to get a system image and then be able to replace the HDD. Is there any Toshiba tool for this model to help mark those sectors as bad so that the computer ignores them when doing a system image backup?

  • Bad link for "Earth Crisis"

After doing a search for earth crisis, the top two results are:
    Steel Pulse Reggae
    Earth Crisis Alternative
Clicking Earth Crisis brings up all of the cd's by Steel Pulse, as search results, while clicking steel pulse brings up their CDs. Bad Link??? Any word on why this seems to be mix matched?

I'm still having a problem.  I've tried using both IE and Firefox and they both fail.  Once my S/N is accepted there is a really quick message on the window that states something like - "if the download doesn't start click here" but the window either is too small to get to the link and/or it goes by too fast.  Once this message goes away the "bad link" message pops up.

  • Creating a static link for an hdd in an lvm?

One of the HDDs in my lvm has its "Advanced power management level" too low. I can't run a script to change it since you know the hdd name changes, and uuid is only for filesystems and not individual hdds.
Whats a way I can get a static link to the hdd?

I need something I can point hdparm to. I have to manually keep finding if its in /dev/sdb or /dev/sdd from fdisk and then run hdparm myself

  • Bad link for download

I've tried to download the "Treo Voice Dialing" download from the bonus software area at http://ws.palm.com/.  I get the screen to enter my serial number.  Once I enter that (and it usually takes about 3 or 4 tries of entering the CORRECT s/n for it to get accepted), I get a "We're sorry - page not found"  error.  Any suggestions?  ftp site?  something?   I don't want to use the data capability through my phone as I don't have a data plan.

  • Paranoid over a bad link

Hello, I recently clicked a bad link and I'm kind of paranoid about it. My iPhone is not jailbroken and I've read about no instance of malware of virus on non-jailbroken iPhones but I kind of just want confirmation in regards to my own situation.
I was using the twitter application and noticed some random person replied to one of my tweets with a tinyurl link. I know better than to click a bad link, but for whatever reason I wasn't fully thinking and just went to it. Immediately after I realized what I did and backed out within about 2 seconds. On my computer I used tinyurl link preview to find out where the link went and this was the URL "http://td8zuoqyukxy0k3ztkulxtbbtf:[email protected]
    1.35.26:[email protected]/?&Ihtjxqs8sdh=Lfb
    8guklbal&Lfsvwb72b"
I noticed the person posted similar tinyurl links to other twitter users. Could clicking this link have done anything to my iPhone?

    Nope.

  • Bad links to songs on Itunes

When I got my new computer, I accidently imported my songs more than once.  I ended up with two, three, or once even nine copies of certain songs.  As I have been deleting them from my folder, the songs keep appearing on I-Tunes, but come up as bad links when I click on them.  Is there a way to make I-Tunes automatically delete the bad links that are created?
