Bad pictures iphone4

Hi,
Taking lots and lots of picutes with my iphone. Somewhere along the way ( iguess after an update..) my pictures has started to get quite bad. Poor quality. lots of pixels, faaaar away from the really good quality i had in the beginning..
Anyone herad of that problem before?
Regards
Patric

Changing the DPI setting in Elements will not affect the quality of stored pictures -- what matters is the total number of pixels you have in the original image. From your description of the problem, my guess is that you should increase the resolution (number of pixels) at which your camera is saving the images. Cards are cheap these days.

  • Bad Picture Quality On SD Channels With HDMI And Panasonic VIERA 720p LCD HDTV

I just bought a new Panasonic VIERA 32" 16:9 8ms 720p LCD HDTV TC-L32X1 for my in-laws when they finally had Verizon FIOS brought into their neighborhood last month.
Install was by the Verizon tech using the HDMI cable I also had shipped to them.
The HD channels quality is excellent, but the SD quality is smeared -- almost looks like an impressionist painting.
It is not the TV -- the TV menus are crystal clear, as are the HD channels.
And, it is not just the broadcast HD -- the DVR box menus are also smeared when viewing as SD channel, as is the guide and the pop up channel info.
We've tried all the settings on the TV -- Zoom, 4:3, etc.
The other TV (an older CRT) actually has better SD quality than the Panasonic.
My research indicates we're not the only ones on FIOS with this problem. Someone suggested using the component hookup rather than HDMI?
Other say that IMG 1.7 is supposed to solve the problem, that the SD quality was fine before IMG 1.6.
    Any suggestions, solutions, or updates?
    The picture is virtually unwatchable.
    Thank you!

Joe01880 - Being a new customer as of last October, I have never seen anything other than IMG 1.6.  My understanding from other posts is that before IMG 1.6, the SD PQ on an HD box was just fine.  I'm not sure what the complaints/gripes/begs were for IMG 1.6 but it seems to me that, if Verizon knows what changes were made, it should be straightforward to determine which changes caused a deterioration of the PQ.  I think it's been at least 6 months since the first complaints of poor PQ, so I don't really see how anyone can claim that Verizon is in danger of "rushing" an update to address this problem.  I also don't think that a forum topic, no matter how much it complains or gripes, will cause Verizon to rush.  I am much more worried that during a large portion of my 2 year contract that the issue won't be addressed at all, so I'm happy to add my voice to those complaining."

  • Mid 2009 13" MBP iSight camera bad picture quality in photo booth

My daughter's stock mid 2009 13" MBP 2.26 ghz intel core two duo has a problem with the isight camera. The isight camera is built in to the screen. The isight camera works some of the time flawlessly and other times it comes out real grainy and with small colored pixels all over the screen like colored static (about 20% to 30% of the photo booth screen is affected but the rest of the screen outside of the photo booth app is unaffected). She only uses it in photo booth but we've tried the iChat app and the same thing happens there too, once she couldn't get the MBP to connect to the isight camera (it just showed a black photo booth screen), so she closed the lid of her MBP and reopened it and it worked. All of the software and firmware is up to date and we've tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC, it didn't do anything to fix the problem. It seems like there's a wire loose in the computer from the screen to the computer base, only because I can move the screen back and forth and the picture quality changes, the amount of static on the picture will move, go away or get worse. I had the screen changed in early 2010 (January or February) (the MBP was about 5 or 6 months old then) at the apple store under warranty due to dirt under the screen's glass (manufacturing defect). The photo booth picture static problem comes and goes, but here lately it comes more than it goes. The screen in general is in good shape and doesn't have any detectable problems with it, it has a good picture and no dead pixels, the problem seems to be only isolated to the isight camera. Can some one help with this problem? How long of a warranty is given on the warranty repairs (like the screen change they did in early 2010)? If apple does a repair on it and finds a wire that has rubbed the insulation off of it on a hinge causing a short and the isight problem, as a result of a sloppy repair from the first warranty repair, will they cover it under warranty again even if it's been over a year since they changed the screen? Also how honest will apple be if they do find out it is a problem caused from the first screen replacement, will they own up to their mistake? If I don't agree with apple's repair decision, can I get a second opinion from an outside source, third party, and if it's diagnosis different than apple's and can be proven, can I still get apple to do and pay for the repairs and labor if it turns out to be their fault from the first warranty screen replacement?
The reason why I'm asking is, I took my wife's white macbook in about a year ago for the famous cracked top cover replacement (under warranty) and when I got the computer back, the isight camera didn't work, so I gave it back, they took it apart a look at it and said there was nothing wrong with it and gave it back, then the screen wouldn't come on so after 4 hours at the Apple store they decided to send it to Austin, TX. for repairs (I'm in Ft. Worth TX.). Apple in Austin said it needed a new main board. They said the old one had water damage to it. We never had water anywhere near the computer, not even in the same room. It was working fine when we took it in, we took it in just to get the plastic top case, that cracks all of the time, replaced under warranty. And then they wanted us to pay for an $800 main board because some how while they were doing the top cover replacement it got water damaged. I argued with them and they finally gave me a one-time offer of them paying for half of the repair and labor or if I disagreed or left the store I would have to pay the whole amount if I chose to have the repairs done. So I ended up having to pay $467 for a year old macbook main board that was water damaged in their possession during their repairs. I like Apple and their products but I am worried about giving my daughter's MBP over to them for repairs because of this incident, it's an honesty issue with how honest they will be with what they find because they won't give back the old parts for analysis by a third party to verify their diagnosis.
Thanks for any info and advice anyone can give.

    Hi,
As a personal note I find long posts like this hard to read if they are not broken up in to paragraphs.
As I say it is  a personal thing.
I can give you some information about the camera and laptops over the past few years.
Basically in early Laptops of the MacBook Pro and MacBook range the cable did tend to fray at the point where it passed through the hinge.  It did take a well used laptop that had the lid open and closed frequently to cause this.  (your 2009 model might just be in that group - I have no firm dates or models I am afraid)
Later models have this rerouted so that this does not happen.
However the cable has then tended to get pulled from the camera end and become loose.
This On Line Self fix site has pages about some models  (The one I have linked to may not be yours)
I have linked in to later pictures in the sequence but there are navigation points to work back to the start.
Note:- they use pretty specifc specialest tools as well in these pics.
Doing this would certail Void any Warranty you have left.
From Posts mainly in the iChat and the iSight areas I have gathered that it seems common for Apple to replace the Screen as a whole rather than fiddle with getting solely at the camera.
Apple has this article on Trouble Shooting an iSight
Basically it says try several apps then try logging in on another Mac User account to see if it is App based or User based or in fact System wide.
If System wide then resetting the SMC/PMU is the only suggested fix.  (Which I did read you had done)
In addition to that I would add that testing should be done in different lighting conditions.
Lighting in the evening or dark that is good enough to read buy is not always good enough for the camera or is not illuminating the right areas.
Some people have reported that Starting the computer in Safe Mode (then Rebooting afterwards) seems to help.  (it clears out some caches and starts up with reduced extensions)
As to actual Repairs and any Warranty that may still be in place I cannot say.
I can say that when people post about problems with repairs a certain stores someone else will tend to post that their experience was different.
You seem to report two different experiences with the two computers yourself.

  • Iphoto to imovie to idvd--bad picture quality(Cannon powershoot sd200)

My family video I made for the year looks like really. I made one last year in movie maker on my PC and it looks great. The one I made on my mac this year is blurry and not clear. The video is fine but the photos are really bad. Specifically photos that are at a distance. I have tried different video formats and can't solve it. I want to do movies that have photos, video clips to music that can be clipped. I even stumped the teachers at my local apple store which baffled me as I would think I am not the only one with this problem. If I could make a a great quality movie on movie maker on my PC, why can't I do it on my IMAC???? I

    Hi again,
Glad to hear you are happier with the results. Scaling photos to fill the screen may cause you to lose a few heads if you are using the KB effect. As for images not filling the screen. It's a bit difficult to guess without knowing what kind of images they are.
You are correct in saying it is easier to add titles and transitions into an iPhoto slideshow. You can split the clip via the 'edit' menu in iMovie and add titles over your images. It is very simple and gives a great effect. If you plan ahead you can create your slideshows to accommodate these extras after you import it to iMovie.
    Happy editing.

  • External monitors have bad picture

I have a 20" ACD hooked up to my PB. The other day the picture suddenly had a pink and blue tint to everything and colors flicker on white backgrounds. Additionally, pictures are very saturated with red and blue. I hooked the display up to a friend's MBP, and it was fine. That leaves my PB as the culprit (or the mini-DVI-->DVI adaptor?). My PB's LCD is fine. It does not show up on screen shots. Any ideas on what my problem is?

    One last stab at this....
I took my PB into an Apple retailer and we tried other digital displays and a different mini-DVI adaptor with the same result each time. The tech there concluded it was the logic board, which would mean my PB is done doubling as a desktop. If anyone has a different opinion or other suggestions, please post.

  • Vox USB2.0 TV-tuner: bad picture, no sound, external power needed?

    Product: MSI Vox USB2.0 TV-tuner
    Part No: G52-V2TVX04
    Bought: http://www.komplett.no
    Location: Oslo, Norway (PAL TV-system)
    Hardware: IBM Thinkpad T40 (laptop)
    Software: Windows XP Pro
    Problem description:
The picture has weird (almost pulsating) colors, and there is no sound. Does not help if I change the PAL-standard to something else. I want to see if it helps with an power adapter but I need to know the voltage required.

I gave up on the Vox and decided to buy a Hauppauge PVR-350 instead. Unfortunately the PVR-350 also has some flaws (looks like many boards have a design-flaw that gives crappy sound and picturesound latency). After reading on a Hauppauge-forum that I was not the only one I returned the board and got a Hauppauge PVR-250 instead, which reportedly works much better. I can confirm that it did :-)
I now use it for all my tv watching and recording, and since it's even supported by MythTV I'm going to use this card for my homebuildt PVR.
Obviously, you DO get what you pay for sometimes. :-/

  • IPod to TV Really Bad picture

    Hi there all,
I've been using my iPod through the TV. i know not to expect DVD quality Vid and Pics, but even the time bar and play/pause button are blurry and out of focus, i'm using a Video camera lead, any one got any tips how to get decent quality?
    - Mike

you shouldnt expect great quality. If you ahd read any of the numerous product reviews of the ipod video b4 getting it then you would have understood that many of the reviews were highly displeased at the vidoe quality apparent with ipod to tv transfer. Heck i reaed 5 seperate reviews all saying the same dissappointment and i still bought cause i knew id never use that feature. But others do as you are testiment to that. BUt i can say that the quality has nothing to do with the type of cords cables or whatever you use ...its simply within the ipod itse;f. I can gues the reason for poor quality is to simply hinder those that want to use the ipod to show their movies in public places and the possible risk of (copyright infringe-
ment) that may occur. Its also apparent as to why the ipod can record voice memos (feature not apparent yet with any available products) at a good rate of 44khz but onyl offer it in a WMV format (doing so creates HUGE audio files that eat up space on your ipod....this in turn hinders those that want to record good audio from concerts and etc from possible copyright infringement). Though the ipod is a great product it is hindered on many aspects. It is subpar on areas to stop those dishonest people from exploiting the ipod in dishonest acts (as mentioned above).
So with a great ipod not all will be pleased with the subpar components as seen in the ipod to tv feature and the voice recording feature. Those that can just live with this subpar dilema and use the ipod for what it can be good atuse it. Those that are frustrated and displeased can always find another product that can do exactly as they wish.

  • Just got my piece of bad news - iPhone4

Store 171 seems to have been a little confused as to how to keep track of its pre-orders.
Initially, I was told I was #7 in the queue.  Just called and, apparently, I am #8 in the queue for a 32GB black.  I was also told that the prioritized list was not kept correctly .
All in all, unless there is a miracle shipment between now and tomorrow, I will have missed the "getting my phone on release day" ship.
Kind of disheartening seeing as how I was w/in the top 10.  Oh, well, kinda expected it pre-ordering on the 15th right before close.

I agree about the bumping.  I stopped at store #547, Harrisburg, PA, last night to check on the status of my pre-order.  I was #20 and ordered a 16GB black.  I figured between the white and 32GB pre-orders, I would be a lock to get one on launch day.  So when I stopped last night, the sales guy told me they had only gotten 15 of the 16GB.  I thought that was great because they had 5 white pre-orders, and a couple of 32GB, so I was sure to get one, but I had not gotten a call yet.  He said the manager was making the calls right now.  I said he didn't need to wait and call me, I was here and could make my appointment.  He came back after talking to the manager and said I would get a call, but that now I would probably not get one because due to "shipping issues" the manager was offering people who had pre-ordered white, or the 32GB, the chance to get one of the 16GB that had come in.  So at 8, I get a call from the manager that unfortunately due to "shipping issues", I would not be getting a phone on launch day.  Across this board, there definitely seems to be a pattern of bumping people back, and while it may not be BB policy, it isn't isolated.  I've been a Rewardzone member for years, even when you had to pay for it, and a very loyal BB customer, but this experience is making me re-think my loyalty to BB.  People say it isn't Best Buy's fault Apple didn't send enough, or on time, but it isn't my fault that I ordered a 16GB model, and other people didn't but are still getting taken care of.

tty meaning when you hit Ctrl+Alt+F# key or just a terminal ? I am talking about a regular terminal
sorry, but a tty is a terminal, it's just provided by the kernel. are you referring to a pseudo-terminal (usually denoted by "pts" or "pty".. e.g. something already nested in a tty, which can be tmux, screen or xterm, rxvt in the X layer, or both). hence without tmux it would be a plain terminal again. i'm guessing now that you mean something in X. not trying to start anything but this was my confusion with your statement as i instantly think of tty when i think [regular] terminal and pts/pty when i think pseudo-terminal and i just wanted to get this straight.
@jason: that was my problem before, i'm glad you mentioned that. forcing a resolution, i mean. when i let the kernel decide the screenshots will work. :} maybe it will work for OP, too, although i do remember having problems with the nouveau on my HP.

  • The Fascinate is not as bad as people say/Actually a good phone

    Greetings.
First of all...if the Bing search and GPS are really important to you..then this phone is probably not for you.  If its not a deal breaker..go ahead and read on.
I realize these days all phones will have their glitches but IMO the Fascinate is a pretty good phone.  Im a new Android OS user.  For a long while I had a Blackberry Storm.  I recently owned a Droid X and let me tell you I will never go back.  The Droid X, IMO, is a horrible phone.
I used a Droid X for approximately 2 months and I was quick to use a buddy upgrade to use something else.  If you take a look at the Droid X's support board I had many of the problems reported.  The major problems I had were
    1. Bad picture quality
    2. Speaker/Music Volume
    3. Unexpected freezing
    4. Phone is too big
    1. Pictures taken with the Droid X came out blurry 90% of the time.  It doesnt matter what MP I had it on or what kind of effect/setting.  It would always come out blurry.  Some people had good quality on pictures but I was one of the many that didnt.
    2. I cant tell you how many missed calls/text's I had because of the horrid volume on the X.  It was truely ridiculous.
    3. From time to time using swype texting..the phone would freeze and have to reboot.
    4. I guess this problem is on me cause I had the phone in my hand at the store but you truely dont know what a inconvenience it is to have this phone in your pocket.  You almost cant sit comfortably and in my case the phone would often fall out of my pocket at times.
I have used the Fascinate for about 3 days now and I'd have to say I like it.  First off you cant fade the Amoled screen.  Pictures and colors are amazing.  Once you have a phone with this type of screen its hard to go back to something else.  I turned on my X to get a few numbers from there and its truely no comparison.  Pictures are in great quality and so is the video.  The flash is pretty good as well.  And how about this..I can actually hear when I have a phone call.
Funny isnt being able to hear a call and picture quality supposed to be given these days for smartphones? lol Not on the Droid X.
The problems that come up with this phone is the bing search/no google navigate.  Well bing doesnt doesnt bother me one bit.  I made a google search short cut so that takes care of that.  you can download google maps and still get to navigation by going through a few prompts.  no big deal on my part.  Only thing that is a little bother is that there is no side button to press to take a picture.  you have to hit the camera icon on the screen.
of course the final decision will depend on you but if you are in flux about a phone I'd recommend the fascinate.  I personally havent used this phone but I only hear good things about the incredible also.  My cousin has the Droid 2 which looks alright.  All 3 are a huge step up from the Droid X.

(I was trying to figure out why I wandered into this particular forum as I have no interest in this phone whatsoever, but maybe it will prove beneficial...)

It's WORLDS better.  No joke.  I have my Droid X collecting dust in my cabinet.  The speaker volume was my BIGGEST probem too and let me tell you you will not have that problem with this phone.  Once you use this phone you then realize how overrated the droid x really is
If you would like to sell your Droid X, I'll make an offer via Private Message.
The biggest reason is that I want to compare it side-by-side to the Droid X I own. Because the Droid X I own has absolutely no bearing to the phone you are describing. Plus I've had good luck returning ill Moto phones to Motorola for repair. So what the hell...
I'm dead serious. Send me a private message if interested. Really, why let an unused phone sit in your closet gathering dust when you could profit from it.....

  • Selective import from huge amount of pictures

    Hi,
I'm just working with a trial version of Lightroom 3 and want to ask for some functions, which I may have not figured out, how they work.
I need a software or function to import tons of pictures. About 5-15% of the pictures are rubbish. So LR can skip the developing process and don't export them.
It would be also nice to make the process of importing, developing and exporting full automatic. So I only give the path to the source pictures and get somewhere else the good pictures as a result, without much more work with the lightroom.
In general 5-15% of my pictures could be deleted, because they are much too dark or over-lightened. Some pictures are just right, and many pictures need a some automatic or predefined correction. The final result doesn't have to be absolutely brilliant, it must be just OK.
I hope you can help me or you have a suggestion which software could do this, if the Lightroom isn't the best suited tool for this duty.

with all respect but had to giggle when i read this - how should that work? How should a software know what is a good picture for YOU?
If you take a photo of a candle in front of a black curtain, the histogram is almost full to the left with just some veeery small peaks in the right area. Is this a bad picture or not?
If another picture on a cloudy day only has a histogram in the middle-section with no blacks and now whites - good or bad?
Only darks and lights with almost no mids - good or bad?
You CANNOT judge a picture by it's histogram. You always need a context/content and even then a computer cannot tell if this picture of a person is good or bad only because it was a very rainy day or not…
Sorry - But i think you have to be picky when you take the picture if you are not willing to review them later.
