Bad playback for uncompressed footage

I have a dual core 2.3 Ghz G5 with 2 gigs of ram. A decklink extreme, SDI card and I captured 8-Bit uncompressed video to a firewire drive. When I playback, it plays for about 20 seconds and then it starts to get really choppy. Any idea why it won't playback smoothly?

Most likely your drive(s) are not up to it.
8 bit demands a pretty serious throughput - FW800 + RAID 0 is a good starting point. SATA is a better one.

Converting uncompressed footage to DV pal for editing then reconnect media

Hi all
many thanks for replys as this forum is my salvation at times
i have a clients project and they have started editing but used uncompressed footage, which makes editing impossible on my machine as playback stops as audio continues.
so my thought is to to a batch import into compressor, export out as dv-pal and i hope that i will be able to do a simple reconnect?
i tried this once with mpeg streamclip but due to the timecode 01:00:00:00(rushes) and mpegstreamclip(00:00:00:00) they would not reink.
can anyone shed some light or a good workflow on this

CC crashes during playback for AVCHD (.mts) footage

Hi,
I have two recent model 27" iMacs running CC. On one system, playback freezes or I getting a Media Pending screen when playing AVCHD (.mts) footage. The second system can playback all the footage with no probplem.
The troubled system specs are:
iMac 27-inch, Mid 2011
Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB

Sequence settings for RED footage

Hi to all,
I'm editing with RED footage, using the low res redcode 512x288 clips.
I'm trying to set my sequence settings to be able to edit without having to render for preview.
But i can't seem to find the REDCODE compressor in my compressor list.
Any suggestion on how i can set this, without having to convert all my clips to prores.

Well you won't get the gray bar above those clips, and you'd find better performance with more machine...
What you're doing there is asking the computer to reference the original R3D files, and then down-convert them to a lower resolution in +real time+. Obviously this is very CPU intensive, and the faster machines do better with it.
Might be best with an iMac to use the log and transfer window and transcode it all to ProRes. I gotta say, it's not as fast and efficient as what you're doing there, but if you can't get smooth enough playback for the edit, it sure might serve you to spend the time in the transcoding.
Still, if that preference in the User Pref's Editing tab is turned on to "Ask" you definitely should be getting the prompt to change the sequence settings to match. Might trash your preferences and give that setting another look see...

Best graphics card for uncompressed HD?

I am going to buy a new 8 core mac pro (yay!), but am wondering which graphics card to go for.
I want to edit uncompressed HD in Final Cut Studio, and use After Effects, but am unsure which of the current Apple Store cards to go for.

Uh...graphics cards for uncompressed HD? To WORK with the footage or CAPTURE and OUTPUT the footage? There are two different things. The graphics card will increase Motion performance, and FCP performance with certain plugins, but as for dealing with the uncompressed footage itself, the GRAPHICS card really does nothing. Detecting bad frames in HDV footage

HI, i just installed the update, i was really looking forward to the bug fix to detect bad frames in HDV footage, this was the update to cs3 and cs4 had it to begin with -
Improved handling of MPEG streams
The Premiere Pro 3.2.0 update provides improved handling of MPEG files. Errors in the MPEG stream can occur during recording due to tape dropouts, record start/stop glitches, timecode breaks, and a variety of other causes. Bad frames caused by these MPEG stream errors are now better identified in 3.2.0 during file indexing and playback. Because older MPEG index files and conformed audio files (those existing before the 3.2.0 update) do not take advantage of the improved MPEG handling, these files should be deleted to avoid compatibility issues.

Das Programm soll alle AVCHD Daten von Camcordern direkt lesen könne und auch bearbeiten können.
Dateiendung: MTS.
Erkannt als AVC/ H.264 Datei.
Diese kann CS5 nicht sauber abspielen.!
Egal ob SSD Festplatte oder SATA II- Schnellste von WD- er spielt diese MTS Daten nur
mit starken Artefakten ab.
Der Störende Ablauf wirkt Pulsierend Rythmisch, so als wüdern die Farben
in dem Video abblättern wollen und verschieben sich dabei. Erklären kann man das nicht man muss es sehen.
Wenn die Datei gerändert wird geht es wohl besser aber auch nur dann, wenn diese Datei in der Timeline Gelb oder Rot ist.
Ansonsten kann man diese datei nicht rendern.
Dann muss man die Datei über CS5 exportieren.
Ich habe das MXO2mini Matrox und muss dann ein solches Format wählen.
Der mediaplayer von Win7 kann meine MTS Datei sauberst abspielen. Kristallklar.
Die umgewandelte Datei von CS5 kann dann CS5 abspielen.
Der Mediaplayer spielt die Datei dann nur totakl Verzittert wieder, da ist keine Freude am Videoschnitt zu erleben.
Hat jemand eine Idee was das für eine Ursache hier vorliegt?
Ist das problem der artefackte schon bekannt? Ich kann leider kein englisch und ich komme auch nicht in ein deutsches Adobe forum sondern lande immer nur hier.

Best options for uncompressed HD master?

I've just finished my first feature-length project in HDV on FCP, and I have some questions about output. In the past I've always been editing SD DV under 60 mins, so master output was always easy. But between the HDV and the 90 min. run time, things are a little more complicated.
We shot and edited in native HDV 1080/60i. We've rendered our final master sequence in HD ProRes, but I don't know where to go from here. These are my main questions:
1. My primary distribution is going to be SD DVD, but I want to keep an uncompressed HD master file backed up on multiple hard drives. What's my best output option for such a file? Can I just export a self-contained QT in sequence settings? Will that apply compression I don't want? Is there a better output option in Compressor?
2. Keep interlaced or deinterlace? Again, most people will be seeing this as an SD DVD.
3. I'd also like to get a local video outfit to make an HD tape master for more secure long-term archiving. What tape format is recommended?
4. Question I should have asked but didn't? Please, do tell.

Uh-oh. That's not actually correct.
HDV is relatively unusual as shooting formats go, in that it's a GOP format, as opposed to an I-frame format. In I-frame formats, each frame of footage (or pair of fields, if you're shooting interlaced) is compressed all by itself, independently of all other frames (or field-pairs). But in a GOP format, a number of frames are compressed together — that's what "GOP" means: "group of pictures." The first frame is compressed independently, then the next frame is described in terms of what's different from the previous frame.
When you edit HDV +and then export it as HDV again,+ whether to videotape or to a Quicktime, the GOPs must be "conformed." As you edit, you make cuts that break the GOP structure, so the timeline cuts from the middle of one GOP to the middle of another without including the first frame on which that second GOP depends. So when you export or lay off, Final Cut has to go through and convert a bunch of I-frames to B- or P-frames, and convert a bunch of B- or P-frames to I-frames.
In essence, exporting or laying off HDV imposes a compression hit. You will reduce the quality of your footage.
Since the question was about the best option for mastering, HDV is +definitely not it.+ Would it be okay? That depends on the footage, and on how picky you are. But it's not the best option. The best option is to master to a (ha ha) mastering format. Uncompressed 8-bit, Uncompressed 10-bit and ProRes are good choices here.
As for tape … that's tougher. You can absolutely send an uncompressed or ProRes Quicktime file to a dubbing house and get it laid off to videotape, but the question is to what format? HDV is a poor choice, because of the aforementioned compression hit you take when conforming the GOPs. DVCPRO HD would actually be a step down for you, because it would downsample your 1440x1080 native footage (or your 1920x1080 master, if you chose to upres) to 1280x1080.
That leaves HDCAM and HDCAM SR. If you've done things like color correction or compositing in a 10-bit color space — or even long-slow dissolves to or from black, which is one of the places where 8-bit really falls apart on you — choose HDCAM SR. HDCAM is an 8-bit format only, and you'll lose color precision if you go to that format. But if you stayed 8-bit all the way through your workflow, then you can go to HDCAM without any real problems.
Note that both HDCAM and HDCAM SR +are compressed formats.+ Your only option for uncompressed HD videotape is D6, and good luck finding a Voodoo recorder nearby. But HDCAM and SR are good enough for professional mastering, so they'll surely be good enough for you as well. And they're both available in 94- and 124-minute lengths, so you can master your whole feature on a single tape.
(While you're at it, consider getting your uncompressed or ProRes master file dubbed off to a data tape format as well. You worked really hard on this project, so it makes sense to be a little paranoid about preserving the fruit of your labors.)

BAdI UC_DATATRANSFER for BCS Mapping in "Load from Data Stream" method

I need some help on finishing up the code for the UC_DATATRANSFER BAdI.
I have looked up in the SDN and other places, but could not get comprehensive breakdown of documentation except for the "F1" documentation available on the BAdI.
So, any help would be appreciated.
The Steps so far completed,
1. Have activated the BAdI and have created the filter value for the BAdI.
2. After the BAdI has been activated, I was able to go into the MAP method and have written the logic for profit center derivation from consolidation hierarchy.
The issue is there are four components for the Map method,
IT_DATA_SOURCE
IS_DATA_TARGET
ES_DATA_TARGET
ET_DATA_TARGET
The data is available from Source system in the table IT_DATA_SOURCE.
But this is not changeable as it is "Importing" type. Whereas the actual ET_DATA_TARGET which is passed over into FINALIZE method of the BAdI is not filled initially.
When I try to do a MOVE-CORRESPONDING from the IT_DATA_TARGET into ET_DATA_TARGET I continuously am getting the short dumps as both the tables length is not the same.
Did anyone else face the same issue as above when trying to do the BAdI implementation for Mapping.
I will really appreciate if any one can provide me a sample code if possible.

Thanks for looking into the question.
I already had tried doing that, I get the Short dump stating the object tables are not convertible.
When I looked into the table structures, I found out that the table structures "IS_DATA_TARGET", "ES_DATA_TARGET" & "ET_DATA_TARGET" belong to the same category in terms of these structures being flat structures or tables of length 484 as per the debugger.
Whereas the structure "IT_DATA_SOURCE" has the length 404.
Due to this reason when I say,
ET_DATA_TARGET = IT_DATA_SOURCE, I keep getting the short dumps.
Also, is your consolidation process legal or managerial.
Our Consolidation process is legal and we have the Company and Profit Center fields assigned to the Consolidation Unit role in the Data Basis definition.
Can you please let me know what is the structures length in your system.

I found http://wesunsolve.net/bugid.php/id/6595253 that is a bug of mkfs without workaround. Is ZFS what I need now?

Well, to fix the bug you referred to you can apply patch 141444-01 or 141445-01.
However that bug is just regarding an irrelevant error message from mkfs, it will not fix your problem as such.
It seems to me like the minimum value for nbpi on a multi-terabyte filesystem is 1048576, hence you won't be able to create a filesystem with more inodes.
The things to try would be to either create two UFS filesystems, or go with ZFS, which is the future anyway ;-)

BP is BDT (Business Data toolset) enabled (you can check it by adding break point in FM BUS_PBO and executing BP transaction). You can add your check directly to standard view (the check will be executed each time when user pushes enter) or you could add you check to appropriate action (during saving etc.) there are number of actions which you could use it depends on your requirements. You can find a lot of info about BDT (if you are not familiar) in Wiki.

I need User Exit / BADI / BTE for asset Creation.
After saving newly created Asset from As01 we need to send a mail to the person for whom the Asset is assigned.
i have tried all this.But no one is triggering after saving the As01 transaction.

User Exit/ Badi/ FM for Tcode IW32

I have a requirement which i need to update the next line with the same part number concatenate with u201CNVu201D and in the quantity enter u201C-1u201D and enter the item category as u201CLu201D.
The scenario is this,
In the service order (IW32) when ever a component is entered on a new line item, example below:
RESBD-MATNR= spare part(Ex: 0614-2331) compponent
System should update the next line with the same spare part number concatenate with u201CNVu201D
Ex: 0614-2331NV
and
Required quantity (RESBD-MENGE) =-1
Item Category(RESBD-POSTP) = L

has anyone done this before? Can you lend a hand? I just need the exit/ badi where the coding can be done.

I have an C# application suddenly crashing after months of operation. The application is running on a Windows7 machine and is controlling 2 x NI6602 PCI counter cards through daqmx. The only clues to what when wrong is the following messages in the Windows Application Log.

I made a video series on one time line and now want to copy paste sections into other tiemlines so I can separate the series into distinct videos to upload. How do I get new timelines? When I go to new event it asks for import footage.

You seem to be new to this software, so I highly recommend that you take some time to learn it using some great tutorials available online - it will pay off to invest the time, if you follow through, for example the great (and free) introductory tutorial at izzyvideo.com.
This is an amazing piece of software, and you'll have a lot to learn, but it's well worth it.
