Bad quality MP3 downloaded

I have downloaded 5 mp3's from OviStore.  One of them is of very bad quality.  Bass distorts even on low volumes.  Do I have any recourse?

@Mystic -
I'm posting same info here as on another forum where I saw your post - hoping to get some info/awareness from others...
I'm having same 'upgrading to iTunes 8.0 has made my iTunes library sound like poorly compressed 40 kbps net-radio crap' (approximately). Thought at first my speakers were blown but experienced same on headphones; tested that it's not my Mac's sound-card by playing an .MP3 in-browser which sounded normal.
Any music through iTunes since 8.0 upgrade sounds awful: trebles are virtually absent, low end frequencies are muddy; mid-range is relatively untouched; all my tunes sound like they were ripped at 40 kbps and "compression-sound" is overwhelming. It's occurring w/ the gamut of sound files in my iTunes library: .MP3's (constant and variable bit rates from 128 - 320 kbps), AAC's ripped from CD's (160 - 300'ish kbps) and purchased AAC's from iTunes store. Multiple combinations of disabling and re-enabling Sound Enhancer and Sound Check in iTunes as well as disabling / re-enabling the EQ (Window > Equalizer) have not resolved.
Everything coming through my iPod Touch sounds perfect as usual as well as music played outside iTunes i.e. games and music through Safari or FireFox.
I updated both iTunes and Quicktime within past week through Software Update, so not sure yet if it's caused by one or the other. For street cred., I'm a long-time musician and work in i.t. system ops. / Mac freak, so while certainly not infallible I'm going to edge past this being user error on my part. A thousand blessings on anyone w/ some thoughts, tips...cheers.

I had the same problem on my iPad v2 IOS 7. But it sorted itself after a hard reset (power and home button) followed by a soft rest ( just  power) . I lost all sound at this point. Then restarted again with a hard reset.
Hope that fixes your iPad v2

  • I am downloading a digital album and i have to choose between apple lossless, flac, and high quality mp3.  i am using itunes and i have a pc running windows 7  does that make a difference?

I am downloading an album and I don't know which format to choose.  Flac, apple lossless, or high quality mp3.  I want to play it in itunes, on my iphone and i have a pc running windows 7.  Does that make a difference?

Go with Apple Lossless.  It will play readily in iTunes vs. FLAC.  You can convert it later to mp3 if you wish but you cannot convert mp3 to ALE or FLAC and get back the quality that was lost.  You can also convert ALE to FLAC if you need to.

  • Bad quality preview in Bridge versus photoshop preview

Okay here's my problem.  When I view my photos using Bridge CS4 I get a bad quality preview even when preview is set to "Always High Quality" The first photo you will see that there is a greenish yellowish tinge on the side of my daughters cheek.  However, when I open the same image in photoshop that tinge is gone! You can see this in the second image.  Is there a setting that I need to alter here in Bridge? And here's a weird thing....since that file is a raw cr2 file, when I open it up in camera raw, I see the exact same greenish tinge in camera raw as well.  Does anybody know what's going on here?

Gosh darnit!  It's happening again.  I'm getting that murky yellowy tinge in the shadows again in the preview panel in Bridge AND Photoshop!! I downloaded the CS5 trial and when I was previewing some .CR2 RAW and jpeg files in sRGB color space in Bridge CS5, I see that in the preview box, the image looks awful with that yellowy tinge in the shadows.  I open it up in Photoshop CS5 and zoom way into it, and sure enough, I see that yellowy nightmare.  But when I open it up in picture viewer or in internet explorer, the yellowy tinge is gone.  Man this is frustrating!  I know it can't be a monitor calibration issue cuz if that was the case, the image in picture viewer would indeed, also have the yellowy tinge, correct?  Any ideas?  When the problem mysteriously went away with CS4 when I originally posted this thread several months ago, I thought updating Bridge was the solution.  However, I don't believe that was the real answer.  Anybody got any ideas?  I was curious if it was an "Adobe" issue so I opened up one of the jpeg problem photos in AE CS5 and zoomed in.  Fortunately, the yellowy tinge does NOT show up in the preview panel.  PLEASE HELP!!!

  • Higher quality mp3?

Is there anyway to get a higher quality mp3 than 128 when buying from the ITunes Music Store? I've set my software to convert at 190, but it doesn't do it on things i buy?
    reply to [email protected]
    Thanx

The Music Store downloads are currently only available in protected AAC (MP4) 128 kbps format. Because they are DRM protected, to get them to anything else you have to burn them to an audio CD first then import that CD back into iTunes in the format of your choice. It's inevitable however that you'll lose quality as you'll now have a copy two generations from the original.

  • Does anyone experienced bad quality when burning a DVD?

Does anyone experienced bad quality when burning a DVD?
Using OS 10.6.8 and Magiv Video in iDVD, I am having a hard time creating a decent DVD. The videos per se are fine, but the intro menu and menu text and images are extremely poor quality and hard to read. What is going on?

Hi my notes on this - might be of help
    DVD quality
    1. iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1)
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (but not always for short movies e.g. up to 45 minutes in total)
    • Best Performances
(movies + menus  less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD (Can be best for short movies)
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6)
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
    About double on DL DVDs.
    2. Video from
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not self-containing, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos and the Ken Burns effect NOT is used. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser and as Large (NOT HD or other resolutiona as result will suffer) or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly e.g. x4 or x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09  this can also be set)
This can also be done with Apple’s Disk Utilities application when burning from a DiskImage.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc). For SD-Video - if HD-material is used I guess that 4 to 5 times more would do.
    5. I use Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. I use DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW) - DVD-R play’s on more and older DVD-Players
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
(I use JES_Deinterlacer to keep frame per sec. same from editing to the Video-DVD result.)
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVDs at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while before next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
    • DVD is a standard in it self. It is Standard Definition Quality = Same as on old CRT-TV sets and can not
    deliver anything better that this.
HD-DVD was a short-lived standard and it was only a few Toshiba DVD-players that could playback.
These DVDs could be made in DVD-Studio Pro. But they don’t playback on any other standard DVD-Player.
Blu-Ray / BD can be coded onto DVDs but limited in time to - about 20-30 minutes and then need
    _ Roxio Toast™ 10 Pro incl. BD-component
_ BD disks and burner if full length movies are to be stored
_ BD-Player or PlayStation3 - to be able to playback
The BD-encoded DVDs can be play-backed IF Mac also have Roxio DVD-player tool. Not on any standard Mac or DVD-player
Full BD-disks needs a BD-player (in Mac) as they need blue-laser to be read. No red-laser can do this.
    • HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx. 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
    • How it was recorded - Tripod vs Handheld Camera. A stable picture will give a much higher quality
    • Audio is most often more critical than picture. Bad audio and with dropouts usually results in a non-viewed movie.
    • Use of Video-editor. iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not the tools for DVD-production. They discard every second line resulting in a close to VHS-tape quality.
iMovie 1 to HD6 and FinalCut any version delivers same quality as Camera record in = 100% to iDVD
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JES_Deinterlacer_3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are play-backed by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choice before Pro Quality)
    1. go to iDVD pref. menu and select tab far right and set burn speed to x1 (less errors = plays better) - only in iDVD 08 & 09
(x4 by some and may be even better)
    2. Project info. Select Professional Encoding - only in iDVD 08 & 09.
    Region codes.
iDVD - only burn Region = 0 - meaning - DVDs are playable everywhere
DVD Studio pro can set Region codes.
    1 = US
    2 = EU

What it turned out to be was the "quality" settings in iDVD. The total clip time was NOT over 2 hours or 4.7GB, yet iDVD created massive visual artifacts on the "professional quality" setting.
I switched the settings to "high quality" which solved the problem. According iDVD help, "high quality" determines the best bit rate for the clips you have.
I have NEVER seen iDVD do this before, especially when I was under the 2 hour and 4.7GB limits.
For anyone else, there seem to be 2 places in iDVD to set quality settings, the first is under "preferences" and the second under "project info." They do NOT seem to be linked (i.e. if you change one, the other is NOT changed). take care, Mario
TO GET IT TO WORK SLIGHTLY FASTER
    • Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk
    • No other programs running in BackGround e.g. Energy-Saver
    • Don’t let HD spin down or be turned off (in Energy-Save)
    • Move hard disks that are not to be used to Trash - To be disconnected/turned off
    • Goto Spotlight and set the rest of them under Integrity (not to be scanned)
    • Set screen-saver to a folder without any photo - then make an active corner (up right for me) and set
pointer to this - turns on screen saver - to show that it has nothing to show

  • MP3 Download Subscription Provide

    <SPAN>Hi,
<SPAN>I have signed up to Napster and will upgrade at a later date (when the Zen firmware arri'ves ;o) but that is another story...)
<SPAN>Napster appears to have a fairly good catalogue, but my question is what other MP3 Download Subscription Providers are available? Are there any better or better value then napster?
<SPAN>Maybe information on the services and number of song they have and maybe a price (in ?)?
<SPAN>Thanks for any help / recommendations!
    <SPAN>Ross.

I agree that quality is an important factor. However, when I took a look at the Musicmatch 0. download page, I saw a mention of 60 kbps WMA files--the same quality as the existing Musicmatch service.
With that and the different track offerings, is it possible that Musicmatch is using its existing provider (don't recall who it is) for purchased downloads, but MusicNet (YMU's provider) for subscriptions?
Though I suspect it's only a matter of time before Musicmatch is merged into YMU and Yahoo! Music Engine, there are still differences in functionality between MMJB and YME. Also, MMJB is used around the world (though its music store is only for the US); YME (the software as well as YMU) is only offered in the US, though I wouldn't be surprised if it were to launch in the UK soon.
    A couple of sidenotes:
I downloaded HMV's player and went as far as its TOS, just to be sure it really was UK-restricted (I was able to download a couple of tracks to the US from their old OD2-powered service, even with a US credit card); it said it was for the UK and Ireland, not just the UK. That seems to make HMV the first "to go" subscription service in Ireland; Napster To Go and Virgin Digital don't go there.</LI>
But I am a little surprised that all three UK services so far--Napster To Go, Virgin Digital, and HMV DIgital--charge GBP4.95 (currently just over US$27.50) for a monthly subscription, especially after the recent study saying most wouldn't pay more than US$0 a month in ANY country. High subscription prices may be more likely to hold in the UK than in the US (IIRC, the UK and Japan are the two biggest per-capita consumers of music in the world), but despite the market power of HMV and Virgin, it leaves the door wide open for Yahoo! to undercut them, just as in the US.</LI>

  • Mp3 download

every time I try to preview a song it ...has unexpedidly stopped working and has to force close...whats up

The one I use is called: MP3 Download
Now that I've popped over to the marketplace to check it, I see they've changed the program.  Looks like a new build of it.
I downloaded it and tested it out, I haven't used to ringtone edit yet, but download and preview work fine.
One thing I did notice in the previous release were some songs were bad and it would freeze the app when you tried to preview it.  If they haven't fixed that bug that could be what you are running into.

  • How can I get the search bar for mp3 downloader pro

I have the mp3 downloader pro but the search bar is not their, someone told me that I had to type something in the URL to get it but don't know what it is. Can anyone help me?

In Firefox 3.6 on Windows you can hide the menu bar via "View > Toolbars" or via the right click context menu on a toolbar.
Press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the menu bar.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the menu bar or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide.
See also [[Menu bar is missing]]
    * If the menu bar is hidden then press and hold the Alt key down, that should make the Menu bar appear (Firefox 3.6 on Windows) (see [[Menu bar is missing]]).
    * Make sure that you have the ''Navigation Toolbar'' and other toolbars visible: View > Toolbars .
    * If items are missing then see if you can find them in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.
    * If you see the item in the Customize window then drag it back from the Customize window to the Navigation toolbar.
    * If you do not see that item then click the Restore Default Set button in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.

  • ACNS 5.5 / Troubleshooting bad quality VIDEO (MMS-over-http)

    Hello community,
For an unexplanable reason I have to deal with an ACNS problem which is not my domain at all ! ACNS 5.5.15 is on a WAE-512-K9 working with CDM.
Please can someone advice me on how to start the basic troubleshooting steps on the following issue :
    ============================
    - Users in Sydney are complaining of bad quality when they watch a video from an Intranet server in Frankfurt.
Video flow has bad quality (buffering ..) and/or stops before the end of the video.
    - Users browsers are configured to use the WAE as local proxy on ports 3129 (.pac file). Requested Video on the intranet is in the Windows Media format and flows are MMS-over-http.
    - No multicast distribution is used, neither content pre-positioning.
    ============================
We did a wireshark trace on the user PC watching a video which ends up unexpectidely with error code 500 => We follow the TCP stream, Time/Sequence graph is linear until ACNS sent [PSH,ACK] tcp flags to the user PC. Then PC answers with [FIN, ACK] etc...and the stream ends.
I have checked the show-tech (i have attached some commands from the sh tech)  especially TCP statistics but I do not if the values are normal or not.
I am thinkink to open a TAC case but before contacting Cisco I prefer to try some basic tests if they can help.
Any recommendation on how to start a troubleshoot or any advice would be gretly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Karim

    Hi Defcom,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried changing and resetting the bandwidth limits at both ends last week at both ends but no joy!
I am going to try the solution on the Gerry's link above later but have to wait for my brother to be free as he has an airport as well(had a baby yesterday (hence why we are setting this up)).

  • [Request] Amazon MP3 Downloader

Amazon has released a Linux version of the Amazon MP3 Downloader program.  It allows you to purchase and download entire albums of DRM-free MP3s at a discount over buying the MP3s one at a time.
They've only packaged it for Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and openSUSE.  As far as I can tell, you have to go to the above URL and check the box to accept their terms of use before you can download it.
I tried creating my own PKGBUILD, but I'm not having much luck understanding exactly what goes where.  Any help would be appreciated.
Here's what I managed to put together so far by digging stuff out of the Debian version amazonmp3.deb file:

Anyone get it to work on Arch64.
Here is the problem I am running into
It doesn't seem to work on Arch64.
./amazonmp3: error while loading shared libraries: libgtkmm-2.4.so.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
If you run Arch64, the amazonmp3 package in AUR will build, install and run nicely in a chrooted Arch32 setup (see instructions here).
Even though they're not releasing their source and they're not offering a 64-bit Linux version of their mp3 downloader, I agree that Amazon is worth supporting, since their mp3s are DRM-free.
When I've wanted to buy an album, which requires the Amazon downloader, I've previously been doing it under Windows, then just copying the files to my Linux filesystem. Using the chrooted Arch32 approach, I can buy Amazon mp3 albums without leaving home (i.e., without leaving Arch).

  • Bad quality preview via HDMI

    Hello together!
After searching for days in the www and on this board I hope somebody here knows a solution for this problem:
Im looking for a quality solution to preview the program monitor as a full screen picture on my Panasonic HD-Ready TV. I got it running, but there is a really strange quality problem:
When I just use the TV as a second Windows display and I move the program monitor onto it (no full screen but at 100% display level) the preview looks nice but I can not see the complete picture, because 1280x720 plus the program monitor itself is too big for my screen When I change the display size of the program monitor to something lower than 100% the scaling looks very bad higher than 100% no problem with scaling.
    So this is my problem:
When I switch it in the playback settings to playback on extern monitor to view it full screen there is a problem. Diagonal lines get a bad looking aliasing. My idea was that CS3 is scaling something (and this does the program not as good as I tried the preview with trailversions of Edius5 or Vegas8c). Just at 100% CS3 preview looks nice (the same when I just watch the program monitor on the Notebook display).
My Nvidia Card is set to HDMI 720p output. The TV says it is a 720p signal what is coming form my HDMI cable, and last but not least my footage is also filmed in 720p60 (Sony Ex1) and I used the 720p60 EX1 setting in CS3.
So again, when I just watch these clips for example with the Sony clip browser on my TV (also form this Notebook via the same HDMI output) the diagonal lines start not to flicker and are displayed very sharp. So it cant be the graphic card, the TV or the footage at my knowledge.
So why does CS3 scale there something in the full screen preview although from input to output everything is in 720p? Furthermore why is the scale in such a bad quality (Edius does this perfect so maybe I have just a wrong setting somewhere in my CS3 settings). Is CS3 not using the graphic card for scaling?
    My system:
    Asus V1S Notebook
    NVidia GeForce 8600M GT 512MB
    Duo T7500
    2GB Ram
    Windows Vista
Hope somebody here is able to find a solution for this problem, because I dont want to buy an extra video board (like Axio) for it.
    Best wishes,
    Swen

But often with these cards, you can not work in the CS3 normal nativ settings for Ex1 footage.
At my knowldge when I would like to open a project which with a Blackmagic Card for example and I like to finish the editing on an other computer without that card you'll have a problem (because BM or other cards allway use their own presett window-right?). So you lose a lot of flexibilty by using a card or a third party codec like this. So it's not so future proof as just to work with the NLE Software itself.
I see this now with my old Premiere 6.5 Projects. I used a Canopus Raptor RT2 for this with the Canopus codec. That worked very very well, but now I can't use this project anylonger on a new editing CS3 station, because it doens't support these Canopus transitions and codecs. Also the only Windows Notebook based output solution is the MotuV4 box... not a very cost effectiv solution for a preview.
So again. There must be a sloution to get the problem with the diagonal lines fixed. Why does CS3 scale the preview when 720p footage should be displayed over a 720p output onto a 720p Monitor? No need for scaling? Or am I wrong with this?

I bought new Samsung 24" LCD monitor S24C300 and new video card Nvidia GT 630. Monitor is connected with DVI cable.
Problem is that when I'm using native resolution 1920 x 1080, the screen is really small and I have to use the DPI setting thing to make screen bigger, but, when I apply the DPI settings, some programs come annoying blurry.
At the resolution 1280 x 720 the screen is good size, but the text has slightly bad quality and is little blurry, so what to do?
I have adjusted the monitors sharpness settings and I also have ClearType on, but that doesn't help.
Could somebody help me with this issue? Thanks in advance!

Please first install the latest drivers for video and moniotr.
Some times a blurry screen can be caused by a poor cable, check with anothe if possible.
You can also try other port to test this issue, like HDMI.

  • Bad quality after converting to PDF and direct emailing of form letters from MS Word

    Hello,
when using the the "form letter" option (for creating personalized PDF files from form letters, that are then directly emailed as attachments via outlook) under the "Acrobat" add-in tab in MS Word I keep getting PDF documents with bad quality (e.g. a logo that is inserted in the document becomes very pixelated). When directly converting the same document to a PDF file using the "create PDF" option unter the "Acrobat" add-in tab in MS Word, I get a high quality pdf file with a perfectly smooth logo (very much the same as it looks in the original MS word document).
Does anyone have an idea what causes the discrepancy in quality of the pdf files that are created via the two options "form letter" and "create PDF" in the "Acrobat" add-in for MS Word?
    Any help is highly appreciated,
    thank you,
    Hans

Maybe I have not made myself clear in the first post. What I am trying to say is, that I keep getting bad quality PDFs (e.g. pixelated logos) when using the "form letter" option (blue box in the image above) but not when using the "create PDF" option (red box in the image above) from the Acrobat add-in in MS Word. Changing the settings for pdf conversion (green box in the image above) only affects PDFs created from the "create PDF" but not the "form letter" option.
Does anyone know how to create high quality (e.g. high resolution) PDFs using the "form letter" option (blue box)?
    Best regards,
    Hans

  • Bad quality of web images X1 Carbon 2015

All images (especially the small ones) and icons from internet and some applications have very bad quality as if they had very low resolution. For example, all avatars on Facebook look really bad, I can hardly recognize people. The same holds for all logos and banners with text images. I understand that the images get distorted because of extremely high resolution of the display (2560x1440) - by the way normal text and all Windows images have excellent clarity - however I can hardly beleive that a 2000 EUR machine is not able to provide appropriate image quality even for simle internet surfing! Is that a fact you have to accept when having 2560x1440 or is it somehow possible to get normal image quality? (Otherwise I'll return the laptop).

Here is a screen shot of how it looks like when you open private modus in IE.
At the top you see the blue block [InPrivate] in excellent quality and at the bottom you see how the same thing is displayed when it's an image. Actually both should look the same.
