Bad reception on Droid Razr M, and on LG Spectrum

Just curious as to others opinions... I bought two phones, the razr m, and a samsung stellar I believe it was. We live in a spotty area of coverage in VA, but the stellar (my husbands phone works just fine). I however have been dropping calls, limited to no service... So verizon replaced my razr with a new one. It did the same thing. Then they replaced the sim card. Still did the same thing. Then they replaced the phone all together with a spectrum. It IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. I am a little ****** that my husbands does not drop calls nor does he have the connection. I am thinking he has the stellar, but not sure. I know it is a smart phone. Why is this happening? And why is verizon giving me the run around about it as to the reception is bad, etc... If his works perfect, why isn't mine? Anyone else having this issue? I am sick and tired of having to call verizon everyday and personally I am thinking about cancelling.

We don't want you to cancel, or even think of cancelling, and I completely understand your frustration! You should have "Stellar" service, just like your husband. Let's see what we can do to make that happen! When did you originally purchase the Razr, and how long have you had the Spectrum? Do you have this problem everywhere you go, or just in your home? Also, did the problems begin immediately? I'm curious if you're a heavier user than your husband with additional applications downloaded that may be causing the problems you have. If your husband is a lighter user and doesn't have a lot of applications downloaded, or certain applications downloaded, that may be why his phone works better. However, let's see some things. I don't think I should have to pay an early termination fee or anything like that since my phone has become almost unusable. I know under normal circumstances you have to wait 2 yrs to upgrade but due to the update and the poor service I'm now getting I hope Verizon can make an exception. Thank you.

    How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices... 

  • Problem with Droid Razr Maxx and Jelly Bean update

    My Droid Razr Maxx was updated this morning and right away found a couple of problems. First, although I was sitting next to my wireless router, the signal display indicated a really weak signal. This seemed to clear up after a reboot and an on-off-on cycle of the wifi on the phone.
    The second problem was that, with the wifi off, I had no data signal. None. The phone worked but no 1x/3G/4G. I traced that problem to the phone configuration. Somehow the update turned off Mobile network data access. (Menu -> System Settings -> Wireless Netwroks -> More... -> Mobile networks -> Enable data access over mobile networks)
    Seems like a dumb thing for the update to do.

    Put all of your contacts in one place, Gmail contacts.  Gmail will only sync one copy and is an excellent way to restore contacts after a factory reset.  If you have contacts in Gmail, Verizon Backup Assistant, Facemail, etc. then you will probably get multiple copies.  Ditch Backup Assistant ASAP if you have it activated.
    Make sure all of your contacts are in Gmail Contacts, erase all contacts from your phone (clear data in Settings > Apps > All > Contacts Storage), and resync with Gmail Contacts.

        Oh goodness IMI. Let's get that time to set correctly. Please try restarting phone. If still displays incorrect time, please go to Settings> Date & Time> Uncheck Automatic Date & Time & Uncheck Automatic Time zone. Then Select Set Time> Set correctly> and select OK.

  • I have the Droid Razr M and now and then i will lose signal and go into Emergency Mode Only

    Now and then my phone will go lose signal in areas and go right into Emergency Mode Only for about a minute. Can anyone help me with that?

  • Droid Razr M Battery after KitKat Update

    I recently updated my Droid Razr M with the KitKat update when prompted.  Battery life went from not needing to be charged for well over a day, to draining from 100% before the work day ended with light use. 
    I contacted Verizon and humored them and did the "battery trouble shooting" things with them, even though it appears to be a well known issue.  When the troubleshooting had no effect after a few days, we did a factory reset, which also didn't help.  I ended up getting a new phone because I had extended warranty coverage. 
    When I got the new phone, the battery was a dream, just like old times, after 2 days the system prompted me to do the KitKat update, which I did against my better judgement. 
    Meanwhile my husband also did the KitKat update on his Droid Razr M and started experiencing virtually the same battery problems.  Now both of our batteries drain about 50% faster than they did before the update. 
    My question is, if this is a known issue with Verizon, why bother treating it like user error?  It also seems like to "resolve the battery problem" (which they don't acknowledge is a direct product of the update) they ask users to basically not use their phone normally, but limit their usage to get more battery life, which isn't a solution at all. Is there an actual solution related the the problem (the KitKat update) that I can use to extend battery life on my phone?  Or should we both call and request replacement phones since the malfunction is not due to any sort of user error?

    I'm glad your phone is up and running again and the tips here helped. There's many factors that could cause this, but it's mostly the maintenance of the phone, such as closing apps you're no using and downloading safe apps.   • Droid Razr M not working with Verizon tones app or media store.

    I have a Droid Razr M and all software and such are updated where they need to be.  Recently I tried to use the Verizon Tones app to download a ringtone and got an error message that it was having trouble connecting, I was connected to my wifi.  Then I also tried to purchase from Verizon's website and got another error message stating that the media store doesn't support online media for my device.  I've also tried the Verizon media store app with same results.    I did do an online chat with a tech person on here but forgot to give info to them for them to contact me on this issue once they sent it to their site engineers.   anyone else have this issue? 

    yes, I was trying to use the verizon tones app on my phone with it connected to wifi, and I get an error message of "error code 1001 we're having trouble connecting. make sure you have a good signal and try again."   then trying to use the verizon media store app I get another error message that says "we're sorry, your phone model does not support purchasing this type of media online. please go to the get it now or media center menu on your phone to purchase"     then trying to purchase a ringtone off of the verizon.com media shop I get this message:   The Media Store does not currently support delivery of ringtones to your device due to incompatibility with the device's multimedia messaging client, but you may be able to purchase ringtones directly from your device using the Verizon Tones app. For Basic and Feature phones go to GIN or Media Center. For Android devices, Verizon Tones app may be preloaded on your device or found by searching "Verizon Tones" in Google Play. For Blackberry devices the Verizon Tones app is available in the App World.  Verizon Tones currently is not available on iPhones or Windows Mobile Devices.
    I have done an online chat with a Verizon tech named Thornton who told me he would push this issue to the engineers. My phone's software is all up to date and until recently I've been able to download ringtones from the verizon tones app or off the verizon.com website.   Not sure why all of a sudden I'm seeing this.

  • Droid Razr & Droid Razr Maxx Accessories the same?

    Can someone tell me if the accessories for the Droid Razr are the same as the Droid Razr Maxx?  I'm upgrading to the Droid Razr Maxx and wonder if the Docking station, charging cords and car charging cords will work on it.  I'm thinking they will, but want to make sure.  I believe the plugs are all the same.  My concern is mostly the Docking Station.
    By the way Ice Cream 4.0 should be coming out this year, but there is no set date for the Droid Razr or Maxx yet.  So, it may not be until 3rd or 4th Quarter until it comes out.

    I did some digging on this subject after you brought it to my Attention!  An this is what i found the Car Dock that was Designed for the Razr is Only for the Razr an Not Maxx you can put the razr in it as a bare phone no Case or Take the insert out an put the Razr that's in a case in it!.
    As for the Razr Maxx it has to have the Dock specifically Maid for it So it Will match up with the Dock Pins!! Using the one for the Regular Razr will cause a Miss alignment..
    The One Hundred Dollar $100.00 Bundle that Verizon is Selling has the Car Dock for the Regular Razr Only!!  It however though has the Home Dock that will Work for Both Razr an Razr Maxx..

  • Is it normal to tur Droid Razr M to get my desktop email?

    I recently got the Motorila Droid Razr M and I couldn't get my email on my desktop unless I turn off my phone. My desktop keeps telling me that another program is using my email which in this case is the Droid Razr M. I never had this problem with HTC Incredible. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Yes and I figured it out. The email settings on my desktop was set up as a POP for account type. It should be set as IMAP. Thanks anyway.

  • Droid Razr M Camera is unable to initialize problem HELP!!

    I have a Droid Razr M and lately when I try to use the camera I get a message saying "camera is unable to initialize".  Now this doesn't always appear but when it does I have to reboot my phone if I want to use the camera.  As you can imagine this is very frustrating and time consuming especially if you are just trying to snap a candid pic.  Does anyone else have this issue or know a fix for it??  Thanks!

    I have the same problem with my one year old Razor Max.
    I did what was suggested by breezex in #1 (pasted below) but don't know how to system cache clear/cache partition reformat.
    Settings > Apps > All > Camera    and clear cache and data
    A system cache clear/cache partition reformat.  Just follow the instructions for an alternate factory reset (using volume and power buttons) and do the cache clear instead of a factory reset.  Be careful.
    I launched in Safe Mode without success. I went to my local Verizon store and they eventually did a factory reset (wiping out everything). Then the camera worked. That was yesterday, 4/3/13.
    Now: same thing all over again, except Safe Mode helps. Camera starts but often freezes on a random image.
    This is probably happening a lot more than we see here in this page.
    Please HELP Verizon!!!!

  • My droid razr m will not send or recieve texts

    I just switched to a Droid Razr M and it will not let me send or recieve texts UNLESS it is a picture message or a group message. It does not let me send or receive any other texts. I tried to reset all factory settings and it still did not do anything. I can make calls & receive calls, get on the internet, send and receive picture messages, send or receive group messages but not regular texts to just one number it has to either be a picture or in a group text. Its very frustrating because im not sure whats wrong or how to fix it. So if anyone can please help me or have had this problem before, let me know what to do or what you did to fix this problem! Please!

    Have you tried shutting down the phone, removing the SIM card for a few minutes, reassemble and reboot the phone?
    Otherwise there might be an issue with your text message feature on the Verizon Wireless server side. You will have to call into customer service at 1-800-922-0204 from another line to ask them to reset it for you.

  • Curve 9360 not connecting to network - bad reception or PIN2?

    I just got a used 9360 device from my father's work, and it is not regularly connecting to the network.
    I am on AT&T, and I did not have this problem in the 8310 I was using prior to this - also used, from the same source.
    I have not been able to confirm if the previous user had a PIN2 lock on his SIM, but the device has not asked me for it and I have been able to send and recieve some messages - for a few minutes every hour.
    I have used another SIM card in the 9360 and that card got the same results.
    It is worth mentioning that when I used my card in an old iPhone I got a similar lack of service. 
    Should I be worried about the PIN2 or is this just bad reception in my house? The BB recognized the existence of both SIMs.
    The OS is version 7.0.0.586, the platform 8.0.0.464.

    Given what you describe, I'd agree with your "bad reception" conclusion (for the moment, and based solely on the fact that you had the same result with the same SIM in the same location). It also could be a bad SIM though. You should do things to test all of these theories out.

  • Ford sync not starting music player on Droid Razr Maxx

    I have basic sync in my 2011 F-150 and with my old Incredible I was able to start the music player using sync as long as I had Bluetooth turned on. Now I have the Droid Razr Maxx and to play music I have to manually start the music player to get it to work. Does anyone know if this is just how it has to be or is there a way to get Sync to start the music player on my Droid Razr?
