Bad system config info

OS WIN 8.1
HP Pavillion
I got this message Bad system config info on a blue screen. I can't boot up the OS, even tried safe mode and nothing works. Tried Refresh and nothing.
I need to access my documents and using HP recovery manager with flash usb stick, trying to copy the documents i need to save, but at times it tells me No USb is connected.
There is a problem I just can't get, I tried so many things, Extensive Stress test, passed. Chkdsk /r, no problem. It tells me the computer is locked, or Antivirus is running....Can anyone pls help/

When trying to back up files I assume you aren't attempting backing up to same flash drive that contains HP Recovery?

I opened my PC this morning and it said that windows did not load properly... It tries to auto correct and then does a diagnostic and I get the message above to research ... I press the ok for it to restore to an earlier time when windows was running . And then the HP comes up and just sits there ,,,, any help would be greatly appreciated

System-config-display, gnome-display-properties - inconsistent R5 U5 64bit

Hi all,
I have OEL Rel 5 U5 (64-bit) installed and running on an IBM x3200 which has Radeon integrated graphics, with a IBM ThinkVision LCD monitor (1280x1024 max)
Problem I have is eventhough system-config-display lets me select 1280x1024 I can't actually get it to switch. Upon log-off/log-in, reboot, restart, etc... it still returns to 1024x768 mode.
Running gnome-display-properties only gives me a choice of 1024x768, 800x600, or 640x480.
I've also tried xrandr and trying to force it to 1280x1024 but it tells me I only have the 3 choices given by gnome-display-properties.
My xorg.conf file is configured with 1280x1024, 1024x768, and 800x600 modes, so I'm baffled at where gnome-display-properties and xrandr are getting their mode choices...
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Based on Xorg log I'm guessing the monitor driver just will not support the higher res and apparently that's where 'gnome-display-properties' gets its info regardless of what I try in Xorg.conf.
I'll see if I can manipulate the monitor settings and see where that gets me...

System-config-lvm fails after OEL4.5 hang fixed...

OEL4.5 would randomly hang (fall offf horse, wander around in daze), lvm/vgscan reported Dup...PV and bad metadata, fixed by excluding all but Genuine LVM partitions in lvm.conf
But now no system-config-lvm - makes me nervous.
Any ideas, suggestions, revealations?

Some new developments...
When setting up a partition for a new OEL5 install, I did a sector-by-sector copy of the partition holding VolGroup00 to an (I thought) unused partition. Subsequently on OEL4.5 boot, the lvm used the back-up VolGroup vice the original, a fact overlooked by me. The low speed backup partition held the mounted Volume Group, not the high speed original partition—and I didn't notice any difference, but then I didn't stress test it either.
This fact came to light when upgrading OEL4.5 kernel failed when NVIDIA install script couldn't find the kernel-develop… modules, linux.oracle.com & up2date downloaded the regular kernel-develop… but not the kernal-smp-develop…. This resulted in a kernel corruption of some sort, causing a kernel panic by lvm at boot, VolGroup00 not found.
The older kernel in OEL4.5 still booted, but now the server would randomly freeze. Fortunately the OEL5.1 installation worked well, and between the two, all this was sorted out—except for the random freeze now also occurring in the kernel updated OEL4.5. Required redownload of kernel rpms and manual download/install for the kernel-smp-develop…
I think I have the freeze problem solved—apparently related to the crond calling …/lib64/sa every five minutes to update statistics for sar. Not sure because no clue from the logs.
It was a weird freeze—no screen update except if you pressed a key on the keyboard or changed the mouse pointer focus, then is would unfreeze for a very short period.
I cannot say it was fun, but my 10gR2 is back running which is why I need the OEL4.5.

Some things learned:
system-config-lvm (the GUI) can fail with warning if there are configuration errors.
Watch boot details for lvm messages, (Alt-D) and periodically check lvm: vgscan, lvscan, vgs, & lvs.
When doing a sector-by-sector partition backup that contains an lvm, make it "not available" and filter it out in lvm.conf, although lvm messages can show up in boot details, the server is not supposed to use a "restricted" partition.
Having a separate (including seperate boot loader) linux installation is really penguin cool.

Bad System call. Macbook pro wont start up

Hello,
I seem to have come across a problem. I thought it happened after trying to install new software through X11. I restarted my macbook pro and received about 15 error messages all containing information about certain extensions not being installed properly. I remember one being about my 802.11 airport but I havnt altered anything to do with it.
When I turned my macbook off and on again I got a black screen with info about about bad system calls, throttling too quickly etc..
I noticed a number of people mentioning the i tunes update which I tried to install before it completely died and it wouldnt actually finish the update so i just force quit software updates. Now my machine doesnt do a thing: when I turn it on I receive the apple symbol with the spinning cog and eventually it goes back to the black screen with the bad system info.
I started in single user and tried fsck - fy and it said everything was ok. I tried to start in safe mode however when I turn my macbook pro on I dont hear the chime- therefore I dont seem to be able to enter safe mode.
If anybody can help ASAP it would be much appreciated- got lots of work that needs doing on it:)

I had trouble connecting to the internet. I made an appointment with apple store, took my imac in. they ran diagnostic and found no problems. but reformatted the disk for me using time machine. i brought it home and it worked. then when i put the mac to sleep and came backto using it, the internet was gone. so i called apple store and they said try deleting the system configuration folder under library - preferences - system config. i did that. then restarted and the internet worked. now i have to do this all the time to connect.
what should i do? please help.

Basically i have connection problems. every time i put the imac to sleep or shut it down, when i start it back up, the web browser says, you are not connected to the internet, please connect to the network. the air port icon at the top shows full strength. but the browser says its not connected to the internet.
when i click on network diagnostic from with in the brower, it shows the ethernet is connected and the wifi has an ip address.
then i have to close everything, go into library > preferences > and delete the system configuration folder and restart. when i restart the airport icon is light gray. its not connected. i click and hover over the airport sign and it picks up my wifi connection. i give it a min before opening the browser.
when i open the browser, i have the same error message. you are not connected to the internet. then there is the network diagnostic button below the error message.
sometimes i have to restart multiple times (around 3-4) and again go back into the preferences folder and delete the system configuration folder. some times it doesnt work how many times i do this.
everything was working fine till i removed the ethernet connection to clean the desk. then all **** broke loose. this is getting annoying.
i booked an appointment with the apple store and they ran diagnostics and everything came back negative. it picked up the wifi in the store right away and they could browse. they connected an ethernet cable and it worked. they booted it up from the network menu for this.
then they booted my computer the normal way and they ran into the same problem. so they reformatted my hard disk and reintstalled OS X Lion.
now i have OS X Mountain Lion and i still have the same problems. cant be virus because when the hard disk was wiped clean, it would have wiped the virus out too......at least i think it would have.
could you help? i have extended warranty from best buy on this mac so i will take it to them to have a look aswell. but i want to see if i can fix this myself. dont feel like lugging this thing around everywhere.

System-config-printer-gnome freezes when trying to "Add" a printer

The solution mentioned was to use the CUPS web interface. This lets me add a printer (which is part of the solution), this is not the complete solution. I've used the utility before, and I'm comfortable with it, and I think that I should be able to use the gnome utility to add the printer if everything on my system is up to date (which it is, as of this posting). I would like to know why it doesn't work anymore (and I'm of the impression that it has something to do with how I've installed python on my system).
I've googled the issue, and perhaps I didn't look around thoroughly enough, but I couldn't find a solution. So if somebody knows where to look I'd be glad to look there.

I have the same problem. I noticed that it occured only after installing the following driver packages.

I did a workaround by installing the printer using the webinterface, removing the drivers again, setting the samba login details and then reinstalling the drivers.
But this problem should really be fixed.

You can use xml over http to pass information between Forte and Java. You
can use httpdc/httpsupport(Forte3.5) library to send and receive using http
in Forte and use servlets in java.

You can use xml over http to pass information between Forte and Java. You
can use httpdc/httpsupport(Forte3.5) library to send and receive using http
in Forte and use servlets in java.

I'm trying to install KDE, fresh install, and this is what I get after: pacman -S kde

Why is help material missing in system-config-users ?

When I press the Help button or select Contents item on Help menu of the system-config-users main window, Mozilla Firefox starts displaying the plain text error message:
File Not Found
Firefox can't find the file at /usr/share/doc/system-config-users-1.2.51/index.html.
that is true, since the directory is empty. The same is true with most system-config apps. The original Red Hat packages do have help files for all system-configs. Why are they missing in OEL-5? Oracle claims that OEL is fully compatible with RHEL. The help material, eg. User Manager, is copyrighted by Red Hat, but it can be distributed subject to the terms and conditions in the Open Publication License. If it didn't suite Oracle needs, then Oracle had to find another solution (eg. writing its own short help material). Leaving the help directory empty without any explanation and just let a user wondering what the hell is happening, is irresponsible. Anyway it's one of the things that end users are least willing to tolerate at all.

I am not a lawyer. I am not in the inner circle. Any resemblance between my options and those of my employer are due entirely to the good fortune of my employer.
This is just my reading of the situation.
The OPL does not repeat the GPL words; OPL is a legal premise where GPL has been proven valid in several world courts. Maybe OPL is "just as good", maybe not. So the licensed docs had to come out of OEL first, even before replacement docs were ready. Probably a "must come out NOW" kind of executive decision from the Legal Department.
I know this post doesn't replace the missing documentation, but I hope it may help understand the omission.

Gnome: Trouble with system-config-printer

Hello all
I have trouble setting up my printers using system-config-printer in Gnome... I added some screenshots to the bottom of this post. When I try to add the Generic CUPS-PDF printer, the "Next" button is disabled and I am not allowed to continue. When I try to add the HP printer that is on my home network (as recognised by the config) the application throws some sort of runtime error (in terminal) and doesn't update the screen or allow me to continue.
Before moving to Arch a few weeks ago, I used Ubuntu 8.04, and it had a very different application for configuring printers (although it was also called system-config-printer). Preferably, I'd just get that application back for configuring printers, it was much more intuitive and above all it actually worked.
I would like to know how to solve my problem of not being able to add the printers I want and how to get the Ubuntu printer config on Arch if that is possible at all.

Hmm.. It doesn't really make sense to me that I need a webbrowser to configure a printer, but I gave it a try. When I tried adding the CUPS-PDF printer, it asked me what brand it was in the second step. This can't be right. When I tried adding the HP printer that is on my network, it automatically selected the correct driver from a list, but when I chose to continue it asked me for a username and a password, and providing my own did not work. So this method failed for both printers. I would really love to get back the old configuration menu from Ubuntu at this point.

The GTK theme is a personal modification of Fresh Dark that removes the Aurora style scrollbar, uses bigger icons and has nicer progress bars.
The font I use is Myriad Pro with slight hinting enabled.
The icon theme is my own mash-up of many tango-styled themes and a few custom icons and improved icons from other themes. You'll find icons there from gnome-colors, gnome-icon-theme, ubuntu-studio, and stuff found randomly on the internet and more. I'm not done perfectioning the theme though, but it's come a long way.

System-config-printer

my system will not upgrade because of problems with the package system-config-printer.
Here is the message I get:

Same issue here.
pacman reports that the files aren't owned by a package.
Around the mtime of each of the files I had installed some printer related packages (gutenprint, ghostscript, etc.). pacman.log excerpt included.

Changing the system config parameter

hi friends,
I am new to SAP basis
I want to change a system config parameter using RZ10.Do i need to import profiles to SAP system every time i change a config parameter?? I did not understand the need to do that.Can somebody explain me the steps in changing system parameters in instance,default and start profiles

HI Nivas,
As soon as you logon for first time on RZ10 you need to import all profile files to application server so that you can see them at SAPGUI.
Initially the profiles will be located in OS in \usr\sap\SID\SYS\profiles.
Logon to RZ10 go to Utilities --> Import Profiles --> Of Active Servers.
All the profiles you will be able to see at GUI level now. Then select the profile and select extended Maintenace Click on change you will be able to see profile parameter and able to change their values too.
