Bad video quality from iPhone videos on PC?

Hello all,
I have been experiencing a fairly annoying problem.  I have a small library of videos taken on my iPhone 4S (iOS 5) which have been transferred to my PC (Windows 7).  I realize that these are .MOV files and Windows Media Player will not play them, but even the most up-to-date version of quicktime plays these videos very choppy.  What gives?  Is there another media player I can use to view these, or do I have to convert all of them?

After some googling Ive read that this is an issue others are having since they upgraded to IOS6, apparently videos played fine in 5.
Is there a way to undo the IOS6 update and restore the phone back to IOS5?

  • Mirroring sports videos from macbook to TV is bad but good from iPhone????

    Hi,
I am living in Sweden and I use viaplay(similar to netflix) a couple of times per week. Unfortunately there is no viaplay app for apple tv.
Anyway, the point being: if I use the viaplay app on my phone, that streams sports events in a great way. However I don't want to use my phone for streaming and I definitely belong to the club of seeing a point with tablets. So, again, I have a macbook air for doing this: how can I stream the video (running on silverlight) without using the horrible airplay mirroring (too choppy, laggy, amateurish) with the same quality as the iphone?

1 - no - if you do not like or use iPhoto then yu have no need for the iPhoto library - it is sefl contained and deleting it will not affect anything except iPhoto
2 - you can export photos form iPhoto to any format drive - it is only the iPhoto library that has drive format restrictions
Reformatting a drive totally erases it so you can not simply change the format of a drive without removing everything on it
3 - deciede what you want  - if you use iPhoto then it has no cross platform capability and nothing you do in iPhoto is directly of use on a PC - you have to export from iPhoto to a volume that a PC can read
Since you do not like or use iPhoto and it will not do what you want I have no idea why you are messing with it at all

  • Really bad image quality on iPhone 6

I took a photo using my iPhone 6 of some kit that I needed to be able to identify later on. I was looking at the photo today and the fine detail is unreadable, it looks like some kind of pixelating filter has been applied to the image. Does the attached seem right? I'm viewing in Photoshop at 100%

  • Video from iPhone to iMovie on Mac and quality issues

Task:  Wanting to take video from my iPhone 5 into iMovie HD Version 6.0.3 to do some editing, trimming, transitions, etc.  I have done this on many occasions but have NEVER been able to share/export the finished product with any kind of quality result.  I want to upload to youtube and it never looks very good.  Looks "ok" if just viewed as is, but if you click on full-screen it does not look good.
I have never liked any of the other newer versions of iMovie - old dog new tricks problem.  I have versions 9.0,9 and 10.0.3 and maybe I need to use one of those to solve the problem.  If so would someone please tell me should I export as .mov or .mp4 and what exact settings to use.
If I can get good quality using iMovie 6.0.3 then would someone please tell me should I export as .mov or .mp4 and what exact settings to use.
It seems like this should be such a simple process but for the life of me I can't figure out how to make it so.  I see many other videos that I know have been taken on people's phones and edited and they look great - even when shown in full screen.
    All help is appreciated!

  • HT201317 how do I automatically stream my videos from iPhone to my macbook pro?

how do I automatically stream my videos from iPhone to my macbook pro?

You may consider doing that, it largely depends on what you want the movie for once you have it on your Mac, sending it to YouTube is likely to cause it to lose much of its quality.

  • Copying videos back from Iphone 4 to laptop

I have few videos that were copied to Iphone through iTunes using my laptop. Now the laptop HDD is gone bad and i had replaced with a new one. I want those videos copied back to my laptop from IPhone. How do i do that.

One of the link says as below,
You can import only photo and video content taken with the built-in camera or captured on the device. You cannot import photo or video content synced from iTunes.
Isnt there any way to copy the video content synced from iTunes????

  • HT4237 i want to send a video from iPhone but resolution is poor

please help me everytime i send a video message via my iphone the reciever gets a low quality pixelated video please help/

    Hello Mark,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when sending a video from your iPhone.
When sending a video using email, iMessage, or MMS on your iPhone, the quality of the video will be reduced so that the message can be transmitted.  If you need to share the video with a higher resolution, you can upload your video to YouTube, which will support the HD resolution:
When sharing your finished iMovie video via email, iMessage, or MMS (iPhone 4 or later), the Camera Roll scales down and compresses the video in order to improve upload performance. If you exported your movie from iMovie in HD resolution when sharing to YouTube, you can select whether to share a standard definition or HD version of the video.
Regardless of how you share your finished movie, the original full-resolution version remains in the Camera Roll, and you can transfer this version back to your computer when you connect your device. To do this, follow the guidelines in Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer.

This is done through iTunes on a computer. You plug it in and under the Summary tab, you can chose what type of video quality you prefer.
You'll choose "Prefer Standard Definition Videos" from the bottom half of the Summary page

  • IMovie freezes when working with videos from iPhone

Whenever I open iMovie and click on a clip that was imported from my iPhone 4s iMovie freezes along with my Mac. However, when I use a clip form a normal camera, iMovie works flawlessly. Are there any ways to work around this issue? or is it just something I cant do?

Well it could be a few different things. Bad memory, a corrupted HD, a permissions problem, a bad video card, the list goes on. Check out

for troubleshooting tips to try and isolate the problem.
swapping out memory chips, resetting the PRAM, and repairing permissions (in no particular order) would be the first thigs I'd try.

  • Heavy videos from Iphone 4s

    Hello everyone,
I was backing up my Iphone 4S and realised that some of the videos were about 400MB but only 4 minutes long. I think this is quite heavy and would like to know what's the best way to back up and store this videos in a smaller format without loosing quality.
    Regards,
    Pedro

what do you mean downloading videos from iPhone?  you mean to get the videos you shoot on your iphone to your computer?  This is covered in the User Guide.

  • Getting movies (not just video) from iPhone 3GS to Mac

I did the following in order (question at end)
    captured video using iPhone 3GS
synced video from iPhone to iPhoto on Mac
    imported iPhoto video to iMovie
    created movie in iMovie
used "Share" feature in iMovie to share the movie in iTunes (so I could play on Apple TV)
    synced movie back to iPhone
deleted movie from Mac (where iTunes was accessing it)
Now, the movie content only resides on my iPhone...can I get it back from the iPhone onto my Mac (so I can eventually get it back into iTunes)?
    Thank you in advance...

I've found another thread dealing with the video part of this problem, which, for me, has solved the image problem as well. Here's the thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2489460
Thanks to Grognard for suggesting this:
Step one: turn off and on your iPhone.
Step Two : launch iTunes and iPhoto
Step three : connect the iPhone to the computer
    Then importation will be possible.
Clearly this still seems to be a glitch -- these kinds of work-arounds are a huge pain. Hope an update will solve the problem.

  • MMS video from Iphone 3GS to Iphone 3G

I know we can send pictures from Iphone 3GS to Iphone 3G, but can we send videos from 3GS to 3G. I wonder because the 3G doesn't have the video feature and therefore, I suspect it won't be able to play the video. Someone knows anything about this?
    Thanks in advance

the 3G doesn't have a video RECORDING feature..... why would that prevent the 3G from being able to play videos? playing videos and capturing/recording videos are two completely different things.
    you suspect wrong.

I use my iphone 5 to record home videos. I have an apple tv but dvd burners dont have a hdmi plug in. Any suggestions on how i can burn videos from iphone 5?
I had a av cord that plugged into the iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 but its not compatible with the 5 connector. Right now i have to email myself the videos in small segments and open and save on the iPad 2 to burn them.  Is there an easier way to burn these from my iPhone 5 or through air play on apple tv?
    Thanks

Connect the phone by USB to the computer, import with image capture, iPhoto or whatever application you use to import movies, drop it into iTunes.

  • Transfering videos from Iphone 4 to laptop, the video is rotateed 90 degrees

After transferring videos from Iphone to laptop, Why would the video be rotated 90 degrees?

IIRC, the iPhone is configured that "normal orientation" for video recording is horizontal with the home button on the right.  If you are holding it in a different orientation, then that would be encoded in the EXIF data on the recirded video file.  Now if that file is edited and that EXIF data is removed or altered, then you could see what you are seeing.  It is also possible that the player yo uare playing the videos back in does not properly support the EXIF data embedded in the videos, which would have the same results.  When I record video on my iPhone 5, the playback on my Mac works properly.
