'bad' white lines?

I'm currently producing a flyer in keynote (with the intention of exporting it to .pdf) - for some reason on some text there are some 'white lines' under part of it. It's not an 'underline' and it also projects out into the document outside of the text box?
For some reason it starts on the letter 'j'?
Any help much appreciated
Regards
DK

Couple of things.
Make sure you have not accidently moved your image, background, etc. while trying to manipulate the text area and created the gap between the image, text area and slide palette.
Also, try creating a duplicate slide and see if the error follows you into the new slide. Use copy and pastor commands into your new slide.
If that still maintined your anomaly, try creating the themed slide, then copying over the text box. Use a variety of combinations to get into a new slide, with some of the copied elements. It may just be a bit of a glitch, and may disappear when working in a new slide.
If that doesnt work, you may just have to start that portion over by creating the element again on a new slide.
Hope that helps.

  • When I turn on my iPod Touch 5th generation, half of the screen has vertical white lines and it is irresponsive to the touch... is there anyway this can be fixed because this is my third time in the last 4 months I have had problems with Apple.

The screen looks completely normal besides the vertical white lines on the right hand side of the screen, as the "slide to unlock" is lighting up and the time and date are changing, but the screen is unresponsive. After several problems with Apple in the last few months (and two defective iPods including this one and one iPhone), I really don't want to go through the whole process of bringing it in or getting a new one entirely. It would greatly help if someone knows a solution, even if that would require completely resetting the iPod to factory settings, as I have had is synced to iTunes before. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help. Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Seems like a bad digitizer or connection or logic board.

  • Blinky white lines then full white screen

So... Caught in some rain with my iPod touch in my pocket... Didnt get drenched or anything like that , but my clothes were definitely damp. Then it was in a dry tent overnight with me but got rather cold (40s, so not all that bad actually). This morning, turned it on and screen went crazy with blinky white lines the just went all white. it pretty much stays white now no matter what, although sometimes goes back to blinky lines for a few. I've turned it on and off a few times and tried plugging it into the charger. Sound out works fine when hooked up to my car interface btw.
Am I toast? I've heard of some solution where moisture exposed gadgets recover after sitting in uncooked rice... Anybody know if that's valid?
    Any other suggestions?
IPod is 6 months old btw and this is the first time anything like this has happened.
    Thanks,
    dan p

Check the moisture indicators located inside the headphone port and the docking connector to see if the color changed from white to purple. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3302
And the recovery placing it in a sealed bag of rice worked for others and might be your only chance if the indicators got triggered.

  • White line artifacts from PowerPoint 2007

We are testing Windows 7 x64 in our graphics department and have installed Acrobat 9 Pro (from CS4)
When creating a PDF from certain powerpoint files, some of the images land up split up with white lines through them.
The same powerpoint file convert fine, without artifacts, when created on a Windows XP x86 system and PowerPoint 2003. Acrobat 9 Pro from CS4 is also installed on that system.
Is this a bug? A feature? Something we can work around?

Actually I already tried that and while it did fix the background issue, it made the rest of the video look bad. From what I've read its not designed for highly animated videos, which mine is, so even at a higher quality it seems to stutter and the images appear to be at a lower color depth.
    Maybe I'm setting it wrong?

  • HP7680 inkjet printer prints narrow blank (white) lines in multiple specific parts of page

My HP7680 inkjet printer prints narrow blank (white) lines in multiple specific parts of each printed page. It appears to happen in the same parts of each page printed.
    - I installed new ink cartridges
    - I verified that the paper I’m using is the standard inkjet paper that I always use
    - In the tools section of the printer setup menu, I ran the “Clean Printhead”, “Align Printer”, and “Calibrate Linefeed” options
    - In reading the printer’s manual, it seems to imply that the printheads could be the problem.
    - So, I manually cleaned the printhead contacts
    - When I print the self-test diagnostics page, it shows printhead health to be “Good” for both. One of them was installed in January of 2009, and the other was installed March of 2008.
    - With a Q-tip, I even cleaned the clear plastic band that runs parallel to the carriage rod. (It was pretty dirty.)
Here's a scan of the printed output.
    Thanks for your help!

After a 2hr phone call with tech support, here is the solution; the L7600 Series printer have a firmware update (file name: OfficejetProK7600_R2011PxN.exe) my printer was bought in 2008 thus my print head is a 2008 model, and new print heads are a 2011 modem, they don’t work right in a 2008 model this is PER the tech rep and his name was John unless you upgrade the firmware.
So I upgraded the firmware from a 2004NxN to the 2011PxN and now my printer says damaged or missing print head, I place the original print head from 2008 back in the machine and it’s fine, so I bought a 3rd print head for 2011 and it says the print head is damaged.
After another 30min or so I was told I have a bad printer and sorry the warranty is out, but the old print head works but any new print heads do not, this sounds like a HP Error firmware / hardware compatibility issue, not my issue, but HP will not repair.
HP has no fix nor will they repair the printer.

  • Macbook display shows black and white lines when fullscreen

If i leave my Macbook on for a while without shutting down and then I view a photo or movie (in player or safari) fullscreen the screen shows just black and white lines. Sort of like bad tv reception. It has happened a few times and a reboot has fixed it but it comes back. Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks

I have a similar problem. Not sure you're on here (since the post is really old) but did you manage to work it out? How?
    My thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19007548#19007548
My Imac froze earlier today as I was dragging an image from safari into indesig and when it froze the weirdest pattern overlaid the screen. It looked just like the opacity pattern from photoshop with grey and white squares. I turned the computer off using the power button and unplugged everything.
Now when I try to start it these weird lines appear on my start up screen (see link)...
    http://meijerladdaruppgrejer.wordpress.com/2012/07/24/oops/
as you can see the apple and the wheel appears as normal...
... then it moves to a normal looking white screen (perhaps a bit greener than usual) and around 30 seconds later freezes at the blue screen.
    I've tried the cmd + alt + p + r several times but it won't help.
If i press alt during start up I can see and choose my hard drive but just end up at the blue screen again.
Can I try starting it up in safe mode or something?

  • Photomerge produces white lines when using RAW (PEF) but not TIFF

I just started using PS CC (Mac, v14.1.2) and tried out Photomerge with a set of 40 (4 rows, 10 cols) raw images (Pentax PEF format), resulting in a 0.3 gigapixel image.
When I have them stitched by Photomerge, I see fine white lines at the merge points.
I had enabled all 3 options (blend images together, vignette removal, geometric distortion correction), using cylindrical layout.
When I first convert the PEFs to TIFFs and use Photomerge with the same options, there are no such white lines.
An example of the bad output:
These unwanted lines are, of course, at the edges where the images are getting joined.
Also, when using only a few images (2x2 or 3x3, or even 4x5), I do not get this effect.
I noticed that when using less images, the blend masks' edges are not straight - but they are when I see this issue. This suggests that at some point the merge operation gets overwhelmed and switches to a simpler algorithm, which in turn has this "bug" with RAW images, apparently.
Is this a known issue, and is there a way to get this working right with this many RAW/PEF images?

Sigh. How can Adobe charge so much money for their products and not even afford a team of people to look into bugs that users might want to report. Big companies suck.
Although you were probably looking for a standard developer-type bug report form, you still might want to take a closer look at that site. You'll see numbers next to the topics; those are user votes to help get something fixed sooner. While it's one thing to submit a bug report (and from this thread it seems they might already have it), Adobe uses that site to help prioritize which bugs to fix first, based on the user discussion and votes. Because Adobe has to decide not only whether a bug needs to be fixed sooner than other bugs, but sooner or later than certain feature requests. The user discussions and user votes on that site help them decide, although I'm sure there are other internal considerations.
In addition to votes, you'll see that posts on that site can be marked "Acknowledged" or "In Progress" by Adobe. The user votes and status reports are what make that site a little more quantifiable than this forum. Also, it isn't unusual to see Adobe developers and employees in the threads looking for more info or explaining things. So while it might not look like a traditional bug database, it's along those lines but in a way that makes it a little easier for non-technical users to participate in the process.

  • White lines of code on black background upon starting up

I recently sent my Macbook in due to problems with the screen going dark for no reason. Upon recieving the laptop back, I noticed problems upon starting. When I restart my laptop, there are white lines of code on a black background. I called in to support, but my support expired and here I am searching for help. They told me that I needed to try and reset my drivers, or my HDD is bad. To reset my drivers they gave me a combination of keys to press upon restarting, but I don't remember the combination of keys. I have repaired my disk using the install CD, but still am having problems.
It's crazy that I send my laptop in and get it back with other problems... Any help is appreciated becuase Apple surely isn't helping.
Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Core Duo w/ Bootcamp

Turn the computer off. Wait one minute. Restart. If you are still booting into single-user mode (black screen with white print) then at the prompt enter:
    reboot
Then press return. If this does not start you up into OS X then there's a system problem. You will need to reinstall OS X. You can do this using the Archive and Install option that does not require you to erase the hard drive. Your old system will be archived in a Previous System Folder at the root of the hard drive.
Before performing the Archive and Install you should do the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then quit DU and return to the installer. Now proceed with the OS X installation.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Ipod touch 4G with horizontal white line

Hello, I have a brand new ipod touch 4G.  Two days after getting it I was in the middle of looking at some apps and a white line across the screen appeared (horizontal line).  I turned off the ipod several time with no change.  After looking up what is may be I found it was most likely a bad pixel and there was nothing I could do.  I called apple and set up a repair which was about as easy as it could be.  The next morning when I got the pod out to take it to UPS, the line was gone.  What the heck is going on?

Bad bits sometimes happens.  If it recurrs try in order:
    - Reset
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
If it still recurrs, then yu likely have a hardwre problem and return it to Apple for replacement.

  • White lines above images

I'm trying to use images that i've imported as buttons/links. In the iweb layout, the page looks great, but when I publish it, some of the buttons have a white line over the top. I can't seem to figure out why this happens or how to remove them. I've tried re-cropping the problematic images but that hasn't worked. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    www.oceans711.com

Yeah, i have some trouble with those also...I know an easy way to get rid of it...All you do is adjust the opacity a tiny little bit and the line will dissapear. The problem you have then is the the image renders as a .png rather than a .jpg, so what you need to do is when your site has been published, view it on the web, then drag the image on to your desktop and save as a .jpg, then put it back into your page instead of the .png and re-publish. OR you can always just make do with the .png...its not that bad, just takes a little bit more time to view. Hope this helps.

  • White line down screen

I have a satellite P105-S6124. A one inch vertical white line is on screen. What causes this and can it be repaired? Its always there and never goes away.

Probably a defect in the screen. You can verify that by using an external monitor and seeing if it gets a white line down the screen too. If it doesn't, you've got a bad screen or possibly the video cable. Screens are expensive. Hopefully the computer is still under warranty.

  • White Line 20" - Apple Care Experiences?

I'm interested the experiences of 20" iMac owners who've taken their "white line" monitors in for repairs.
Have the techs been receptive of the problem?
Do they treat it like dead pixels?
Is replacement based on the tech's opinion of how sever the problem is?
If you've had your monitor replaced because of the white line, how bad was it? If your desktop is set to black, was the "white" line 80% grey or 20% grey?
Did they replace your screen when they replace the power supply?
These are just a few questions to kick start the forum. I know once the white line appears, it's considered permanent on that LCD. I'm interested in taking mine in for replacement, but not if Apple is going to reject my request based on the severity, or brightness, of the problem.

Your description of the white stripe sounds just like mine. Soft feathered edge. Gets less pronounced as it heads toward the middle of the screen.
I'd heard somewhere along the line that the bad power supply was sending too much power to the LCD, resulting in this "damage". Once the power suppy was replaced, the cause is eliminated. The "damage" remains.
If you haven't had your power supply replaced, it will probably get worse. Given that you might only have 3 days left with the manufacturers warranty, I would probably take it to a certified repair center for a free diagnosis. You certainly bought it about around the right time for it to fall into the problemed category.

  • What is this white line under my preview window?

I accidentally hit T while editing and suddenly there were 2 preview windows in my preview window. I hit T again and it went back to 1 but now there's a white line under my preview screen. What is it? And did it do something to my image? How do I remove it? And what does T do in adobe premiere? And what were those 2 preview images in my preview window?

Dont think you have to worry about the white line. I think the program monitor is not updating correctly. Resizing the window should fix that.

  • White Lines Across Powerpoint files converted to PDF

I have a number of PDF files that were created from Microsoft Powerpoint presentations on a Windows PC. The Preview inspector says they were created with Acrobat Distiller 8.2.2. Until recently, these PDFs looked 100% correct when viewed in Preview or Safari. Now, though, they have horizontal white lines across the pages. There are 6 white lines on each page, evenly spaced, each about 1 pixel in height. They stay at 1 pixel in height even when I zoom in/out on the document. At some zoom levels (100% being one of them), the area above and below some lines will become misaligned. When viewed with Adobe Reader 9, the lines are not there but the misalignment is (though it is not exactly the same as in Preview). Unfortunately, I can't say when this started happening other than it was fine in September (2010) and isn't this afternoon (Nov 22, 2010). It happens on a coworker's Macbook Pro as well as my iMac so it is not something unique to my Mac.
Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas as to how to fix it?

Hi, I am having this problem also on my iMac. Some of the images have the lines and some of them don't. When the PDFs are printed, the lines don't show. My problem is that these PDFs will be linked to on a website for the clients to print, and they will seem them with the lines. They are pretty unsightly, and my boss has put this into my lap to figure out, since I am the designer. Did you ever find an answer for this? I don't know where else to turn, since this company is insisting on using Pages, rather than something like InDesign.

  • Cursor arrow gone from solid black to having white lines go through it and trackpad is not working properly in mail and adobe acrobat - anyone know how this could have happened and how to solve it?

Can anyone help me?  Concerned that I may have some kind of malware.  My cursor arrow and trackpad are behaving strangely,  The cursor used to be a solid black arrow but now seems to have horizontal white lines running through it.  The trackpad does not function normally either.  For example, when I use my trackpad to scroll up and down in mail  it sometimes works and sometimes does not.  In adobe acrobat it sometimes does not work.  In facebook, the cursor does not line up behind the menu keys as it should.
Any one know how this might have happened and how I can stop it?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
