Badge disappears for an app after an hour of no usage?

I have a todo app that shows a badge indicating how many tasks are due today. For some reason, recently the badge will disappear one hour after I last opened the app. The app has not been updated in months, and I talked with the developers and they can't figure out what the problem might be.
Could this be somehow a problem with iOS, perhaps? And if so, is there a fix I can perform for it?

I don't think there's any way (at least easy way) to do this.
AppleScript is very good at initiating events, but not good at responding to them. As such it's not easy to write a script in this manner. About the only way to do this would be to have a stay-open script that periodically checks the list of connected devices and keeps track of when the last bluetooth device was used - however, there's a big difference between being 'used' and being 'connected'... you may have a bluetooth headset 'connected', but if you're not running any audio apps it might not be used, and that's hard to AppleScript to determine.

  • HT204266 How does one find out how much one paid for an app after it has been installed?

It would be far more useful if the word INSTALLED also dispayed either the word FREE or the
amount paid for the app; e.g. INSTALLED FREE or INSTALLED $2.99.   Some of the free apps display
the word Free within the app icon, but not all free apps do so.

Try Account Information on iTunes, then Purchase History.

  • AppleScript to turn off Bluetooth after an hour of no usage

I'm interested in making an AppleScript that will turn off Bluetooth after a bluetooth device is not used for (let's say) one hour. The script should run only on battery life, not when the computer is plugged in.
Any ideas on how to start? Thanks.

  • Closing App Manager closes my app after 2 hours

i connect to a remote fast server through ssh, start javaws& and then start a swing server app from javaws. if i leave javaws running the app stays up for days but if i kill javaws the app goes away after a couple of hours. i am not sure if this is a ssh timeout or something about the way javaws launches apps. anybody have any thoughts on possible causes/fixes?
my working hypothesis is that the javaws process is spawned from within the ssh terminal and so the ssh terminal remains running as long as javaws is around. then, javaws spawns the app process but the ssh terminal doesn't see it as its own...

solved my own problem. request start app right from the javaws commond line. another solution is to use netx from sourceforge to launch the app in headless mode...

  • How to restore package contents for preview.app after Mac OS X Lion upgrade

since installing Mac OS X Lion I have been totally unable to run Preview.app. After having attempted to troubleshoot the problem I discovered that the package contents for the Preview application no longer existds on my hard drive. Does anyone know where I can obtain a another copy of the preview application? or how I might go about restoring the package contents for Preview in order to run Preview.app?

Use Pacifist to extract it from the InstallESD.dmg residing inside the Install Mac OS X Lion.app.

  • HT202297 The Reminders app on my OS X version 10.9 doesn't seem to have badge icons for apps that are overdue.  How do I get the badge icons for the app?

Being overtly organised, I assign due times to all my reminders on the reminder app.  Recently, I realised that the badge icons (detailing the number of overdue reminders) do not pop up anymore.  How do I get them to reappear again?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
There are two Applications folders: /Applications (in the root level of the hard drive) and ~/Applications (in your user folder).
If you have a look at the bottom part of the screenshot, you can see where Chess is stored, and it indicates that it's stored in /Applications, so you are looking for applications in the wrong folder.
Open a Finder window, go to Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Sidebar, and mark Applications. Then, close the Preferences window and you will be able to access to the Applications folder in the Finder sidebar. Another option would be to go to View menu (on the menu bar) and type:
    /Applications

  • How to make dock disappear for certain apps?

Is there a way to make my dock disappear, but only when a certain app is open? I work with Photoshop, on my 13" Macbook Pro, and to be honest, I need every tiny bit of screen space I can muster. I'd like it if Photoshop ran full screen, like iTunes for example, but it doesn't run fullscreen AND show the side palletes etc, I don't know why but I wish it did.
Anyway, I was wondering, can I program my dock somehow, so that it will disappear whenever I click inside or open Photoshop, but when I quit or click out of Photoshop, it comes back?
Is there a line of code I need to put into Terminal, or a 3rd party app or something? Anything will do
    Thanks

    Hello ThatSmartKidJack,
You can set you dock to automatically go down and come back. and if you still see the sides of your desktop just resize your window by dragging the bottom right corner of your window. I also use Photoshop and I can see it almost full screen by hiding my dock. Hope that helps!

  • IMac closes all apps after 1 hour

On my iMac 27 running latest Mavericks when streaming iTunes on airplay after exactly one hour all apps automatically shutdown. I have checked energy saving settings, set computer to never sleep, I also unchecked 'put hard disks to sleep when possible'. Something is automatically closing apps, any ideas?

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy
If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it and enter your login password when prompted.
Click the Advanced button and, in the sheet that opens, uncheck the box marked

Just in installed 8.1 directly from the Store (Win 8 Pro). Everything went smoothly.
Now when I go into the Store and try and install (or update, as it says apps are broken) any app, it says
"Something happened and your purchase can't be completed. Error code 0x80072ee4". No other details in Event log.
Plus it now want me to switch over to a MS account to install anything. I prefer a local account.

  • License Prompt appears for CS6 app after Creative Cloud install

    Greetings Adobe community,
I have an end user who has Adobe CS6 installed. This includes Acrobat, illustrator, indesign, bridge, and Photoshop. She has been using this suite for about a year
Just last week, we installed a licensed DreamWeaver 2014 from the Adobe Creative Cloud.  After a successful installation, the user gets a prompt whenever she opens Adobe Acrobat that requires her to re-enter the License.  Some reason, Adobe thinks her CS6 license is no longer working or legit after downloading DreamWeaver.  This is weird. After various reinstallations of Adobe CS6, the user ONLY gets that same prompt when she works in Acrobat for a couple of days. Any ideas guys?

  • Network failure for Apple apps after Yosemite update

I installed Yosemite on two computers yesterday.  The 2011 iMac worked fine - no issues.  But the late 2011 Mac Mini is having networking issues:
    - None of my Apple applications will connect to the internet - Mail, Safari, iCloud sign-in through preferences, etc.  Says I'm not connected to the internet.
    - Network diagnostics shows a green light on everything through ISP, but is red for Internet and above.
    - Chrome has no problem surfing the internet, so the computer does have a connection
    - nslookup in a terminal window is able to find just about any address I need
    - I've rebooted multiple times (at least 6)
    - does not matter if I use ethernet or wireless - behavior is the same
Any thoughts from the networking experts?  My only recourse is to restore from a Time Machine backup and retry.
    Thanks.

    Re-installing Yosemite fixed this problem.
    Thanks.

  • Where do I store and download for IPhone Apps and Computer Apps?

I'm feeling like a dinosaur in not understanding how to download and store apps for my iphone and those that I may DEMO or buy for my computer.
For instance I have started syncing the iPhone to the MacBookPro so that this is easy when I am traveling. Now the MacBookPro is in the shop and I'd like to d/l an app for the iPhone. Can I do this on the MacPro which I am using now? If so, do I go directly to the Mac App Store do I open some App program on my MacPro? Do I have to d/l this app from my phone or MacBookPro only? I don't get this.
Also, I called in for Aperture support the other day and didn't have any info on this software that I bought. I guess I downloaded a demo from some Mac Computer App store and then paid for the App after running the Demo? Then this information is stored somewhere different from having downloaded the Software directly without a demo or from another site or from some app on my MacPro?
Something of a newbie here so any straightening out on how this works now and (perhaps) how it may work differently in IOS 5 or Lion would be really wonderful.
    Thanks.

The iphone will sync with one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, then the current contetn will be erased and reaplaqced with content from the new computer.
"If so, do I go directly to the Mac App Store do I open some App program on my MacPro? "
The Mac app  store has NOTHING at all to do with iphone.  it is for buyong apps for your computer ONLY, NOT iphone.
You can download apps from the itunes app store on your iphone or on your computer.  Your choice.

thanks. yes i am aware of the VoiceOver feature but it is NOT the solution to my problem. as you said, it is a solution to a different set of issues. i want the text to speech ability because i there are books i need to read but do not have the time to sit down and read them and have become used to listening to them read to me either by a professional human reader or with the text to speech software on the Kindle.
I think Apple makes the best audio devices but i am really disappointed in this inexplainable shortcoming. if apple can give us siri they ought to be able to design a nice little button that i can push to turn on text to speech while i am in a document, book, magazine or webpage. clearly it is possible as apple has added the "reader" button in safari to have web pages dropped into the reader format.
thanks for your suggestion though, it is what everyone suggests but it does not address the issue.
