+/- Badge for 'Apply Auto Adjust Tones' Preference setting.

Okay, in V1.1 a User can now, in Preferences check to 'Apply Auto Adjust Tones'. ONly thing is the Develop Adjustment Badge +/- is not applied so it is easy to forget that one may have intentialally or mistakenly set this preference.
It would be nice if, when this Preference is checked the bBadge is applied, just as it is, if set in Quick Dev or Develop on a case by case basis.
Might resolve some confusion. Or if this is by design, maybe a special Auto Adjust Badge could be added.
Is Reset supposed to set back Auto Adjust applied by the Preference or can one only revert the image in History if applied with the 'Apply Auto Adjust Tones' Preference setting?

  • Dock auto-hides, despite preference setting

An odd occurence with my MBP Retina.  Despite the "Automatically hide and show the Dock" preference being UNchecked, my dock still auto-hides, but only when I click on stacks under certain circumstances.  So, this doesn't happen when the stack is set to show as List; only when set to show as Grid or Fan.  Then, when I single-click on a Grid or Fan stack, the dock will always auto-hide after losing focus.  Does anyone else with a MBP Retina have this problem?  I'm using the latest software to date, OS X 10.8.3.

If CT's suggestion didn't work, try resetting the dock.
Try doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:
    killall Dock
Log out/in and test. If that doesn't work.
You need to look in your user Library/Applications Support/Dock for the .db. Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/ Library/Applications Support/Dock.  Move the .db to your desktop.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Auto Smart Tone Going Dark For Part of Clip

    Hi,
I'm a new user of Adobe Premiere Elements. I have version 13 installed on a PC running Windows 7 32bit.
I have a problem that hopefully someone can help me with.
I have put a clip onto the timeline and then run the Auto Smart Tone and used its custom feature to brighten the clip. The problem I have is that certain parts of the clip stay dark. This happens when the video is played in the preview window and when the project is rendered and the final output played in an external player.
This clip has text overlayed in certain parts of it and further investigation has shown that the areas of the clip that are dark are some but not all of the areas with overlayed text. Furthermore when I click into the overlayed text to edit it the dark section of the clip that it is associated with the text being edited then brightens in the preview window the correct amount to match the rest of the clip on the timeline. As soon as I exit out of the text editing that section of the clip goes dark again.
If anyone can shed any light on what the problem is and how I can fix it it would be greatly appreciated. The problem may be a simple error I'm making as a result of my inexperience of using the programme.
    Many Thanks
    Gavin

What version of Premiere Elements are you using on your Windows 7 32 bit computer?
A just in case question....have you reset the learning preference for the Auto Smart Tone feature?
    https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/autosmart.html
Please see Edit Menu/Preferences/General and the "Clean Auto Smart Tone Learning" there.
I still have not factored in your observation
when I click into the overlayed text to edit it the dark section of the clip that it is associated with the text being edited then brightens in the preview window the correct amount to match the rest of the clip on the timeline. As soon as I exit out of the text editing that section of the clip goes dark again.

  • Auto adjusts

    Hi All,
Does Aperture apply auto adjusts to your images? or are they displayed "as is" directly from the camera?
Also can someone please explain the white balance tool in Aperture. I am used to nikon and adobe software where you choose a white balance (sunny, shade, flash etc...) and then you can fine tune if you want to, this seems to be missing in Aperture?
    Cheers.

They are displayed "as is." No auto adjustments (a la ACR defaults) are applied.
The white balance tool is akin to the eyedroppers in the ACR white balance tool. Just click on a neutral area of the shot (white is fine, so long as none of the values are 255, or grey), and they values for R, G, and B will be equalized, effectively removing the color cast.
Aperture doesn't have any presets for sunny, shade, tungsten, etc., with white balance. However, these are just numbers for color temperature and tint. You can see the values ACR chooses for these and define your own presets, if you want.

  • Iweb auto adjust for different computer monitor settings

Nobody has the same display settings on their monitor, so how can I get iweb to auto adjust to different computer monitor settings?

Are you referring to screen size? If so many prefer to have their browser window set to the size they want unlike PCs in which the browsers usually always fill the screen blocking out the desktop.
Why not set your site width to a size that can be utilized by all, desktops, laptops and mobile devices. Apple recommends 980 pixel width for that.
There was a post about this some time ago with, if I recall correctly, some code to do that. I think Cyclosaurus posted it but am not sure.
I know its a personal preference but when I land on a site that forces my browser to fill the screen I leave and don't go back.

  • Anyway to turn off "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" with Tiffs + PSDs?

    Using 1.1 on Mac....
When I view tiffs in Lightroom 1.1 I noticed images are much lighter than when viewing in Photoshop. Is it the preference "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" being applied? If so is there a way to turn it off for Tiffs and PSDs?

    John:
I think I just ran into the same problem in a different venue, and maybe many people are having this problem. I imported a folder of layered psd master files from which I wanted to output prints in the LR print module. (You can see the thread on this forum titled "lightroom output prints are too light"). All of them looked a good stop lighter when viewed in the LR window as compared to when they were opened in photoshop.
After some other diagnostic suggestions that did not yield a solution, Jeff Schewe told me to use the Zeroed preset when importing images, so as to eliminate any develop settings that might inadvertently be turned on. I haven't tried to print yet, but they are importing as I write this and the ones in the LR window look like they match the image when viewed in photoshop. I just checked Lee Jay's advice and did find that I had "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" checked in the presets preferences. Am not sure why this would override "none" when importing, but evidently it does.
Am also not sure what your issues about syncing are (I didn't even know "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" checkbox existed till I read your thread), but hope this helps.

  • What is the "Auto adjust White Clip" slider for?

    The Aperture manual says:
Auto adjust White Clip slider: Use the “Auto adjust White Clip” slider and value slider to add tolerance to Auto Levels adjustments when evaluating colors beyond white.
But I don't know what they mean with "add tolerance". What is it intended to do?

"Auto Levels" analyses your Image and applies a Levels adjustment based on a preset algorithm (similar to "Auto-enhance" in iPhoto, for example).  The Auto adjust White Clip slider allows you to set what percentage of pixels will be set to full-luminance.  (Hover your cursor over the slider for a ToolTip.)
This is very easy to see in practice.  Select an Image with no adjustments applied, and duplicate it.  Then with the Auto adjust White Clip slider set to the left, click "Auto" in the Levels Brick.  Select the other Image, change the slider all the way to the right, and "Auto-Levels" that Image.  Compare the two.  Be sure to compare the histograms in the Levels Bricks: this shows you mathematically what the difference is.

  • Camera Raw - apply auto tone adjustments ...

In camera raw, "apply auto tone adjustments" option in the preferences dialog is not same with the "auto" button on the basic panel, isn't it?
Both of them control the same sliders, are there any relationship between them?

Maybe, there is a bug for Windows 7 64-bit ... when the "apply auto tone adjustments" option is active on the preferences dialog, the auto button on the basic panel is also active and I'm always getting slightly different results by pressing it.

  • Snow Leopard does not auto adjust time for digital camera

For some reason when I connected my digital camera this morning to auto adjust its time to reflect DST I ended up having to do it manually. Is this not a feature of SL? I did this a hundred times in Tiger without hassles. Maybe I am missing something. I am not using iPhoto for my imports.

I'm curious what software you are referring to. I doubt this is the fault of SL but rather a change in the Canon software. I know Canon's "Camera Window" has changed over the last while if that is what you are referring to but I don't remember seeing a time setting in it ever. Can you look back at the name and version of the software you are referring to?

Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the third-party developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, email the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

  • Updating and iPod that has preferences set for "manually manage songs..."

I have my iPod set with "manually manage songs and playlists" so that
    (a) it won't try to update every time I connect it; and
    (b) so that I can see all of the songs from my iTunes application, as I don't store my music library on my laptop computer.
But sometimes I do want to do a full sync of the iPod to my music library. I'm not sure how to do that. If I select "update ipod", it says "iPod update complete", but doesn't really do anything.
    Any ideas?
    thanks

Hi, Michael, and thanks for your help.
I realize I can change the options to "automatically update..."
But the whole point of my inquiry was to find out whether there's a way to NOT have that preference set, as I
    (a) don't want the iPod updating every time I plug it in; and
    (b) want to be able to see its songs on other computers when I'm not seeking to update it.
What I want is a command that I can initiate that will say "act as though the automatically-update preferences were on and do a full update just this once".
I suppose I can go in and turn the preference on, do the update, then turn the update off, but it seems like lots of steps. I might have thought that there would be a control+click command that would accomplish this all in one click.

  • How to set value for Next Auto Restart for components

    Hi All
When I checked my SPS13 portal in component monitoring area, I found that one of file server repository  etc is not running. To get rid of the problem, we had to restart the portal.
On the same page there is a column for Next Auto Restart which was empty. Any idea where do we set it so that we do not have to restart entire portal for such kind of error.
    Any help will be appreciated.

"Until EP6 SP2 you could have done this via
System Administration  -> System Configuration -> Monitoring Configuration,
but this iView was deleted in SP3 and now this configuration needs to be done using the VA
In the VA navigate to Server -> Services -> Monitoring
In the Monitor Tree navigate to Root -> Applications -> KMC - > Repository Framework -> Components -> Repository Manager
You can set the "next auto restart" parameter for managers individually."

  • Can I have auto adjust for RAW, but not for JPEG?

I want auto adjust for RAW files, but NOT for JPEGs. I generate JPEGs from my adjusted RAWs and the last thing I want Bridge/ACR to do is to auto-adjust the generated JPEGs just because I looked at them in Bridge. Yet, I've been using auto-adjust on my RAW files for years and find it a useful starting point.
Is there any way to configure ACR 4 to do auto-adjust on RAW files, but not on JPEG files?

Anyone have any advice on this question? I like auto-adjust on RAW files. I like the idea of using ACR capabilities on some JPEGs, but letting ACR do auto-adjust on JPEGs that I generated from hand-tweaked RAW files just ruins the JPEGs completely. Thus, I'd like auto-adjust on RAWs, but not on JPEGs. Is there any way to do this?

  • Auto Smart Tone no longer changes the image (custom mode) when I click on the sample corner image

I open a new project in Adobe Premiere Elements 13 APE13 and add a raw data file (converted movie).  I trim the frames I don’t want out and then click on Auto Smart Tone so that I can correct the problems with the film clip. I choose custom and Adobe opens the screen with the 4 small sample picture images in the corners of a frame. I notice that there are 2 messages in the upper left corner.  “Your clip has been divided into visually similar Scenes.” And “Auto Smart Tone has already corrected all of your Scenes.  You can fine tune the results if needed, and Auto Smart will learn from your adjustments.” When I click on any of the four corners the grid in the middle comes up and moves to the corner selected.  The picture in the middle does not change.  I couple of projects back I did the same thing and the frame/scene changed to look like the image in the selected corner. I like the results I saw in the corners and clicking on them and moving the like cursor in the grid allowed me to adjust the image slightly.  Why, is this now not working? Is it because AST is automatically setting the new film to the old settings (why I get the message that it has already corrected the scene)?  I don’t want the auto correction.  How do I get rid of the corrections to allow this feature to work as it did in the past?

Thanks for the reply with the interesting yet troublesome current situation.
If the old will not do what it was doing presently, let us try the following first, that is, deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Pref file, and, if that does not work, the whole 13.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists...in your Windows 7 64 bit
    Local Disc C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    13.0
and in the 13.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. And, if that does not work, then delete the whole 13.0 Folder in which it exists.
Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives disabled so that you can see the complete path cited.
Please let us know if the above impacted the Auto Smart Tone interaction with your files brought into it.
Another, sort of way out thought, make a copy of one of your files (one from good before but not now, and one from newer batch with just the bad) and rename the copy of each.
Import the newly named files in the feature and observe the results.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere elements 12 auto smart tone -- no grid appears

I select a video clip in the timeline.
I click on "Adjust" & then "Auto Smart Tone" & then "apply" -- nothing happens & "reset" remains grayed out.
I click on "Custom" -- nothing happens & "reset" remains grayed out.
I click on the preview screen & a circle with crossed lines appears in the center of the screen.
Right click on that & I can set "safety margins" or move the entire preview screen around.
But I haven't been able to make "auto smart tone" work like any of the tutorials demonstrate.

Thank you.  This was my first time posting ANY thing ANY where on the internet EVER …..
I did my best trying to find the answer via FAQs & searching the net (did find an answer to one question that way – re “keying”)
I have posted to the other location & bookmarked it so I can find it if ever needed again:    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements?view=discussions#/
