Badge on calendar icon

I am using Snow Leopard. Just recently I noticed a badge 1 on the dock icon, and a calendar itself has the number 1 next to its name. I'm sure this is a trivial question, but I can't figure out what the number belongs to.

Greetings,
The number indicates you have notifications waiting that have not been reviewed. Click on the small envelope button the lower left corner of iCal or go to the Window Menu > Show Notifications and then accept / decline the pending notifications.
Cheers.

  • Calendar Icon Dock - Mavericks OSX

    Hey there,
Wonder if anyone can help me here with a small question..
My calendar icon on the dock is displaying the date on the red part of the "notepad" rather than in the white blank space. Does anyone know how to fix it.. the calendar works fine .. but is just annoying .
    Thanks!

    Test in a new User:
Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar.
    Log into the Guest User.
Do you see the same behavior in the Calendar icon in the Dock?
If yes, this indicates problems at the base level.
Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
Run Repair Drive and Repair Permissions in using Disk Utility in recovery.
    Restart
Download and run the combo updater to refresh your OS X files.

You might need to reinstall OS X. This process should not damage your data but it's always advised that you backup first.
If no, the problem is in your User's folder.
    Do the usual fixes.
Restart in Safe boot mode. Log in while in Safe boot and see if the problem goes away.
Run Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
Run Font Book to validate your fonts. (Clear font caches)
    Safe boot
    *  shutdown
    *  start the Mac and *wait* for the startup chime to sound
    *  after the sound, press and hold down the shift key
    *  keep holding and *wait* until the grey  Apple logo appears
    *  now release the shift key and just wait (it could take a few minutes)
    *  eventually the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT
    *  log in to see if the problem goes away while in safe mode.
See this link to see what happens during Safe Mode.

    Run Repair Permissions:
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
    2. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
    3. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
    4. Click the repair permissions button.
How to use Font Book to validate fonts
      1. Open Font Book in your Applications folder.
      2. Select All Fonts.
      3. Now click in the list of fonts and select all (Edit > Select All).
      4. Under File in the Menu bar, select Validate Fonts.
      5. Duplicate fonts will be marked with either the yellow badge or a black dot.
      6. Select to remove or delete duplicates.*
      7. Delete font caches (how to)
      8. Restart your computer
    * Step 6 – remove or delete duplicates is where the tricky part comes in. You can select to let Font Book disable or remove duplicates, but I’ve found that it removes the one you have not been using rather than selecting the best option. See Font Management in OS X, by Kurt Lang, for more info on fonts.

  • Disabling calendar icon from a date field

    Hi
The DateField control in UIX creates a text field for entering dates and a button for picking dates from a calendar. Is there a way I could disable the calendar icon selectively, when I do not want my user to pick up a new date?
    Patrick

    Patrick,
You can set attribute readOnly="true", or if you want to do this dynamic, you can data-bind it: data:readOnly="<some boolean value from some dataObject>".

  • Where does it go when you click on the Calendar icon beside the date field?

    Hi,
Does anybody know what page or region does it go when you click on the Calendar icon beside a date field? I need to know how it generates the list of values for year.
Need your help. ASAP. If you need to know more about my inquiry please email me, [email protected]
    Thanks.

It's a Date bean and it is UIX which generates the java script to pop open the dialog box and the UI. I donot think there will be any public document available on the implementation.

  • How to get calendar icon to show again when entering data in date/time field.

    Hello,
First time posting on this site.  I am fairly new to using SQL Server Express.  I created a split-database in MS Access 2010 and have successfully migrated over the backend database to SQL Server Express.  When I was using the FE forms in
Access, I use to be able to see a calendar icon where I could select the month and day in the date/time field.
I compiled the FE forms to binary format .accde so that I could distribute this to the users and they couldn't change my forms. After migrating the tables to SQL Server express for the BE, I am no longer able to see the calendar icon when I try to enter
in data in the date/time field.   Same for the original .accdb file before the binary conversion to .accde.
How do I get the calendar icon back to show on the form when a user is entering in data?  I appreciate any assistance I can get. Thank you!
    Thai

    Hello Cheer,
I don't believe the table changed when migrating from Access.  I had two tables before the migration, one was for the SwitchBoard Manager and the other table was for the database table.  I used the Switchboard to navigate to different menus, such
as the Main Form, Power Form, Server Form, etc.  Let me know if I can provide any other information to help you narrow this down for me.
    Thank you for your assistance.

  • How can I get rid of the calendar icon that's showing on the top right of my screen?

I can't figure out why the calendar icon is only showing when locked? When I unlock it it's not telling me I've missed anything and the icon isn't there so I can't figure out where's it coming from to delete it. Help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Try a Battery Pull:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • TS2621 When I try to access my mail I just get frozen blank screen. Also on settings the screen freezes when I press the mail calendar  icon.

I cannot access my mail. When I try I just get a blank divided screen which is frozen. Also in settings when  I press the mail calendar icon nothing happens except the settings screen freezes. Not very computer literate.

Close the Mail app in the Task Bar and re-launch.
Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar. Hold Mail app down for a second or two; tap the minus sign to close app.
If it still doesn't work, try a reset.
Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

  • Why can't I see the calendar icon in my form?

    Date field
Displays a calendar icon to the right of the form element. Respondents click the icon on the fillable form to open the calendar, which has the current date preselected.

I'm assuming you are referring to the PDF form.

  • IOS 7 calendar icon, IOS 7 calendar icon

Hello out there! Is there anything that we can do to change the appearance of the Calendar icon on the home screen? Also the font for the time display is too faint. The date needs to be bold or more contrast in the appearance for us baby boomers.

Hi Ginny.....I have been so bummed out with the new calendar app in ios7.   I liked the look and functionality of the older version ios6.  I was having alot of difficulting seeing the calendar clearly, and also moving around to different dates.  (I often go back one year to compare monthly activities).  I think I have found a satisfactory work around to the new interface.  I have downloaded an ipad app called Week Cal HD.  It cost 2.99 but for me it was worth a shot cause the new calendar wasn't cutting it.  Well I am delighted with the new app.  There is alot more definition to the screen (not as minimalist) and you can change calendar colors and text size quite easily in the settings for the app.  I am attaching an image from both the ios7 calendar and the new Week Cal HD app for comparison.  I will also include a screen shot of the icons next to each other.  Hope this helps.

  • The Calendar icon has disappeared from my dock and I can't find a way to restore it or to download the Calendar app. Help please.

The Calendar icon has disappeared from my dock and I can't find a way to restore it or to download the Calendar app. The iCal app is not in my applications folder. Help please.

Do you have Time Machine enabled.   If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder.   Then restore.

  • Calendar Icon...

This is a quick, somewhat stupid question. Does the calendar icon on the iPhone's home page show the current date?

..and unlike iCal on OS X it is always correct.

  • Calendar icon corrupted on laptop(win7andiphone 4s)

The calendar icon is corrupted on my icloud panel on my laptop (win 7 and iphones). I tried reinstalling icloud on pc..no help..suggestions from one with moderate knowledge(not novice nor expert). Suggestions? Thank you.

Yes, to sync with iCloud on your Mac you will need to upgrade.
You can certainly upgrade to Mountain Lion but OS X Mavericks is due out within the next month so it may be worth it to wait. In the meantime you can access your iCloud contacts, calendars, etc... from iCloud.com. Sign in with your Apple ID.
Here is more info on Mavericks: Apple - OS X Mavericks - Do even more with new apps and features.

  • Calendar icon on the doc

How can the calendar icon on the dock show the current date? I need to always open the calendar to "refresh" the dock icon to the current date. Pls help....poor non-tech-non-mac person. Thanks.

You can't. I know it seems a silly omission but it's true. I asked the same question at a Procare lesson (the one-on-one training I purchased with MacBook.) You have to click on it to show correct date.
