Badge on (settings)

I'm using iPad 3 and iOS 6.0.1 . Actually i know that normally a badge appears on the settings app when a new software update is out . I don't know why nothing appears on my iPad ! Yesterday , i was checking on a new software update in settings<general and it appears that theres the new iOS 6.1 . So why my iPad doesn't alert me when a new update is out ?

Did it find the download, and did you download it ? From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623 :
If you leave the update to download in the background, once the download has finished you will receive a notification saying an update is available for your device. Tapping Details will take you to Settings > General > Software Update. Tap Install Now to install the iOS update. If you decide to leave the installation for later Settings will display notification badge until the update has been installed.

After doing the update on my 5S, it appears the "1" badge over Settings will not go away. I've been through the settings menu multiple times and can't find anything actionable, looking for help. It's driving my OCD-self insane.
I've turned the phone off and on a couple of times, to no avail. Thanks

Same here with an iPad Air.
Tried to sync, to reboot to look for new software to force the counter to zero but nothing happened....

  • Is there any way to clear the Update badge from Settings?

I don't want to update to IOS 5.1. I prefer to keep running 5.0.1 which is runing fine and fast for me. Seems like when I update too much, my i devices end up slowing down to a point where they frustrate me. Best to leave them the way they were when I got them. I'll get 5.1 when I get a new iPad and/or a new iPhone.
But I'm not fond of staring at this red badge on settings for the next several months. Seems like there should be a way to clear it without having to obey it.

  • After iOS 7.1 update: red '1' badge on settings app

    Dear Apple Support Communities!
The download & update to iOS 7.1 was successful. Well more or less. My iPhone 5s made no problems, everything works fine. Except the iPad Air (WiFi, 32GB). After the update to iOS 7.1 the red '1' badge on the settings app stayed stuck. (See image below)
    Here my solution tries:
Checking via Settings-Software-Update or/and Info, if I have the latest iOS version installed - I have iOS 7 (Build:11D167) installed
System reset (Home & standby button pressing) - No change
Restore from iCloud backup - No change
Restore from iTunes backup - No change
The only thing, which worked as a 'soluation' was a restore to a new device. Unfortunately I have to re-sync all my stuff manually. This is very disburbing/frustrating and I now decided to wait for a fix, iOS 7.1.1!
    Here how it looks:
In advance I thank you for any help!

  • Red badge on settings icon for iPhone 5

Got the iPhone 5 delivered today and after setting everything up, I noticed the settings icon had a red badge. The red badge usually indicates there's a new iOS update available? But being that my new iPhone is already updated to iOS 6.0.2 is there any way to remove the icon?

Now, you have to restore as new without the backup using computer iTunes.
After that, sync your iTunes' content manually.

  • How to get rid of red badge on settings

How can I get rid of the red badge wanting me to iodate to iOS 7.1.1?

You don't.  You can move the Settings icon to an alternate Home screen, if you'd like.  But until you update, the notification will still be there.

  • Mystery badge above Settings app?

There is a "1" red badge above the Settings app on my iPod Touch.  I would assume it would be for a system update, but when I go to that section of Settings, it says everything's up to date!  What else would be causing the badge to appear?  It's been there for a while and it's starting to annoy me.  I can't think of another Settings section that uses Badges.  How do I get rid of it?  Thanks in advance!

On my settings, there is a number one (red) that won't go away.  There are no updates that need to be done.

Maybe you should try updating 5.1.1 from iTunes? Because I had the same thing and it was 5.0.1.

  • Settings icon has permanent (1) badge after iOS7 Update

So I updated my new Retina iPad to iOS7 and now I have a (1) in the upper right hand corner of the Settings icon that will not go away. I've gone through every section of settings, performed a hard reset, checked for additional updates (checked app updates as well) and the thing will not go away. Suggestions?

You can't turn off the notification badge for settings, and the reset settings did not work, it is still there.

  • Any way to remove settings badge after iOs5 upgrade?

I've searched discussions of the same problem and found matching concerns with ipad users. Turns out if you update to ios5 on air, the system leaves the badge for settings and it's stucked even after restoring, resetting the device. Does anyone know a fix to this problem aside from suggesting jailbrake and getting clear-badge apps?

You can enable the SkypeUI (Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true) with the backend still being Lync Server 2013 to get the new client look and feeling.
The Skype for Business 2015 RTM Server bits should be out in May, but the current new functionality can be taken from:

Can I just enable it for individual users for testing?  I tried doing a get-csclientpolicy and replacing -identity global with -identity <user ID> but it said it didn't exist since it seems it's looking for policies.  Not sure if there's
some other way to do that.
Do I need to setup a new policy and just add certain people to it or is there any other way to do that for specific users?
    Thanks!

  • Settings app still shows "1" badge.

I've tried to update to 8.0.1 today and it did download the update, but when it tried to install it failed.  This was the point when Apple stop the update.  Now my settings app is still showing "1" on it.  Is there anyway to clear it?

    Hey there Mary491,
It sounds like you have already updated your device, but you still see a badge indicating there is an update to be installed. I would start by checking for a Software Update again to see if that refreshes the Settings app and removes the badge:
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
From: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4623
If that does not, I recommend closing all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done tha restart the phone and see if it goes away:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Badge

    Hello
I have a problem with the OTA software update.
Badge at Settings ("1" in a red circle) never showed up at any of previous software updates, neither at 5.1.1 update.
When I navigate to Settings/General/Software Update it informs me there is a iOS 5.1.1 and suggests me to "Download and Install".
Any solution to make OTA notification (badge) to work?

Try reindexing Spotlight >  Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes
If that doesn't help, quit the App Store.
Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy/paste:   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Click Go then move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch the App Store.

  • Software update Notification badge (OTA), never showed up

    Hi,
I have a problem with the OTA software update.

    Hi there Marios,
The iPhone periodically automatically checks for updates, however I'm not sure how often. When it finds one, it adds the badge, but often you are the first to notice it, so there is no need for a badge to show up.
If you download the software update, but do not install it, then the badge normally appears.
Hope this helps, have a nice day,
    Nathan
