Hi, I am generally looking for some information on the purpose and use of the BAdIs related to CAD Desktop Integration. The name of the BAdIs are:-
CDESK_BADI_MAIN
CDESK_CAD_CHANGE
CDESK_TBM_ADDIN
CDESK_BADI_COPY_DLG
CDESK_BADI_COPY_DOC
CDESK_MATERIAL
CDESK_BOM
Anyone one who has worked on the above BAdIs please provide your valuable inputs. are all these BAdIs related to the CDESK transaction.

Hi,
for CAD Integration you also need the plug-ins for the CAD Systems. In the installation-guides for the plug-ins you also find the required settings for the CDESK customizing. In addition a lot of information - especially about the parameters - can be found in the notes (service.sap.com/notes).

CAD Desktop or Integrators ?

Is it recommended to go for CAD desktop or to go for Individual connectors for CAD integration for AutoCAD,Inventer,Solid Works,Solid Edge etc ?

CAD Desktop Queries

Hi All,
Currently we are using CAD desktop alongwith DMS. We need to replace a selected component in the document based structure with a new component. We are trying to use the copy and replace option in the CAD view, but the new component selected is not getting loaded.Could anyone let know what else we need to do to get it going?

See if the following conditions have been met with:
- In Customizing for CAD Desktop (CA-CAD) you have set the CDESK_REPLACE_COMPONENT (replace component) parameter.
- You are in the CAD view or the CAD worklist.

Not getting ADF Desktop Integration option in Jdeveloper 11.1.1.3

Hi,
I am following this link:- http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/jdev/obe11jdev/ps3/tutorial_adfdi/adfdinewtutorial/jdtut_11r1_59_2.html for ADF Desktop Integration.
When I am opening my Jdeveloper after installing *.NET Programability Support* from Control Panel. The Option in Tools Menu of J Developer i.e ADF Desktop Integration is not coming.
But When I checked in my machine :- C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\adfdi\bin\excel\client. I am able to find set up of ADF Desktop Integration. I ran it and it got installed as per the above link. But still I am not able to see that option in my Tools. When I right click on View_Controller of ADFdi_BC Application as per the Link and went to NEW but I checked in ALL Technology of Client Tier option, ADF Desktop Integration option is not coming.
Can anyone suggest me what to do for getting that option in my Jdeveloper and I can use this to make my Excel sheet under View Controller.
Please suggest me something.

The title of your post mentions version 11.1.1.3. The tutorial link mentions version 11.1.1.4. It is probably best to get the matching version. In fact, I recommend getting the most recent version, 11.1.2.x.

How to install ADF Desktop Integrator on mac (using jdev 11.1.2.1.0)

Hi Everyone,
I got a requirement for my client where they want to use microsoft excel to upload/edit/delete content of one of our ADF application data and we are thinking of using ADF Desktop Integrator option for achieving this. I tried to install ADF Desktop Integrator from my Jdeveloper->Tools->'Install ADF Desktop Integrator' but this option got disabled on my mac. Is there any way to enable it or is it mac not compatible for ADF desktop integrator tool? Also most of my client team members are using mac and hence I cannot ignore mac option and switch to pc.
Any help or suggestions on this would be very help and appreciated.

Hi.
ADF Desktop integration relies on Microsoft .NET and Microsoft Internet Explorer; both are available on Windows only. Thus, ADF Desktop Integration is not available on Apple OS X.

Error when trying to install adf-desktop-integration.

I developed an integrated workbook using the ADF Desktop Integration technology (JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0, Microsoft Office 2007, Windows 7)
One of my users encountered an error when is trying to run the setup for the adf-desktop-integration.
The steps for his error are the following (he is using Windows XP and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007):
- Enable .NET Programmability support from Office installation
- Run the setup file for adf-desktop-integration. The following error appears in a popup:
The following solution cannot be loaded because Microsoft Office support for the .Net Framework 3.5 is not installed: adfdi-excel-addin-runtime.vsto.

The problem is that my user already have installed on his computer the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1.
In the section "3.5 Installing ADF Desktop Integration" from the link http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16180/inst_conf_dev_env.htm#CHDHJIIG is specified that when the setup tool is run, the following software are installed:
1. Windows Installer 3.1
This software I suppose is already installed or the setup tool managed to install it, otherwise I should have an explicit error.
2. Microsoft .NET Framework
This software .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 is already installed.
3. Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Office
My user already has Visual Studio Tools for the Office system 3.0 Runtime
Now lets take a look on the same link at the section "3.2 Required Oracle ADF Modules and Third-Party Software". Because my users are using only the Runtime edition of ADF desktop integration they don't need JDeveloper or an Application server.
Taken in consideration the section "Installing the Runtime Edition of ADF Desktop Integration" from your link, my users are using the adfdi-excel-runtime-client-installer.zip (this file is provided by me and is taken from my installation of Oracle Middleware-11.1.1.4.0).

In 11i10 ADI 7.2 is included in the startCD. You can launch the startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/ClientWiz.cmd
to start the wizard for client applications
or startCD/CL3/SetupAdi.exe to install ADI directly.

KPRO for CAD Integration

Hello All.
Just wanted to cross check this from you. We have CAD Integrated with SAP.
1. We have Dev Box, Q Box and P Box. I would need a KPRO on 3 different boxes. Am I correct ? Also do I have to change setting in SPRO in Dev, Q, and P to point to the respective correct Box - how do I do this.
2. Also in Q-Box we have 2 different clients EQ50 and EQ100. Am I correct to say we will use the same EQ box and Partition it for EQ50 and EQ100, so that when I work in EQ50 the files can be saved in Partition in KPRO for EQ50 and when I work in EQ100, the files can be saved in different Partition. How to make this partition in KPRO and also how do I change SPRO config for KPRO for EQ50 and EQ100, to point to correct partition.

Desktop Integration for customized translator applications

For the customized translator applications (trained systems) built using microsoft translator hub, is it possible to integrate them with MS Office and all other tools, servers and web applications that are automatically integrated to the out-of-the-box microsoft

CAD Desktop - error while checking in and storing...

Hello SAP gurus',
We have one problem regarding the CAD Desktop functionality, and we believe that you could help us!
We are doing some tests with CAD-SAP Integration, and when we try to check in document in CAD Desktop, we receive the following error: "Error while checking in and storing c:\...".
Funny thing is that we can check in originals "manually" in SAP GUI when we open DIR, but when we try to check it in via CAD Desktop it is not possible.
In some previous posts I have seen that "hosts" file should be maintained properly, but what bothers me is that we are not using real content server yet (we are still in a test phase and we are checking in documents directly to SAP database).
Does anybody have some idea what could cause this problem?

Hi,
For viewing the CAD files Content sever will support. The exact technical stuff I don't know.But as per the previous experience I am sure that if you install k-pro your purpose will get fulfilled. The content server feathures you can get and may know the reason.
But once you install a separate content server instead of the current storage system, your problem will get resolved.

PLM 7 ACM for CAD files

Hello Experts,
I am testing PLM 7.0 ACM functions on the Document Info Record (DIR) objects. Steps as below..
1) I am using the NWBC to access and create the ACC id (XYZ_Project1) which is tied to a root context id (XYZ).
2) I added myself as the ACC admin with all the required PLMWEBUI roles +
Super User Role (SAP_PLMWUI_ACC_SUPER_USER) + Trusted users role (SAP_PLMWUI_TRUSTED_USER_ALL)
3) Assigned the ACC Id (XYZ_Project1) to a DIR.
4) Created a Test User (User1) who have the standard ECC DMS roles(Create/Change/Display) for the DIR's.
5) In addition to the above ECC role, I have assigned user1 with the role SAP_PLMWUI_TRUSTED_USER_ALL.
6) In DC10, I have flagged the 'Use ACM" for that document type.
Use case:
Since the USER1 is not assigned to the owning context id XYZ_Project1, he should not be able to Change/Display DIR.
Result; User1 can still view the DIR even though its controlled by the ACM
NB: I ran the program /PLMB/R_AUTH_UPDATE_RT_FROM_CP to update the roles and ACC id changes I have done (step1..5) to see if that updates the ACM check. But after the above program is expected the results are same. User1 can access the document.
Any thing I am missing here which will block the USER1 to that particular DIR?

Found this SAP note which supports my assumption that PLM 7/ACM function should be supported in classical CDESK too. I may have to look at this note in detail.
1762318 - Roles and authorizations for CAD-PLM 7 integration
Symptom
To use the PLM 7 functions in the CAD desktop, you activated the CDESK Customizing parameter CDESK_ACCESS_CONTROL, CDESK_ENGINEER_REC, CDESK_ENTERPR_SEARCH, or CDESK_PLM_WEB_UI (refer also to SAP Note 1745208).
To use PLM 7 integration in the CAD desktop, you require a combination of SAPGUI authorizations and PLM Web UI authorizations.
Further there is old note :1745208 - PLM CDesk: PLM7 integration in EHP4 to EHP6
Symptom
Various functions from the PLM Web UI (Embedded Search, access control context, engineering records) can be used in the Web UI only, and are not integrated in the CAD desktop.
You use ERP 6.00 with Enhancement Package 4, 5 or 6, and you want to use these functions in the CAD desktop.
Reason and Prerequisites
This integration is delivered only in Enhancement Package 7.
We are currently on EHP7.So that confirms that ACM should work in CDESK with EHP7.
