Balanced Scorecard : Y axis should specify appropriate units !!
hi Experts,
In the Time series screen of a balanced scorecard, Y axis should specify appropriate units. In case of amounts it should say (000) to denote 2 as 2000 that is to show the scaling factor along Y axis.
Thanks in advance.

SEM-CPM Balanced Scorecard and time-variant results/scores
Hi everyone!
I have successfully created a basic Balanced Scorecard with SAP SEM 4.0. By configuring the "Value Fields" and using "Formula Result-Score Assignment", I have specified which results are equivilant to what score. As an example, a have defined that a process cycle time of 25 minutes is equivilant to a score value of 85 (out of 100) and a process cycle time of 20 minutes is equivilant to a score value of 100.
Since I want to use my Balanced Scorecard for strategic planning (along with SEM/BW-BPS), I want these result-score assignments to vary of the upcoming period. As an example, in 6 months time a process cycle time of 20 minutes should be a score of 100 (as above). But since I want to improve my operational performance, in 12 months time a cycle time of 17 should be 100 (as my process cycle time should have improved by then). In other words, my planning targets should be dynamic (depending on time) and not only static (always the same).
My question is now, how can I define different Result-Score Assignment (in other words: goals/targets) for different time horizons? Can I do that with integrating SEM/BW-BPS?
Best regards, DanielLeelananda and others PLEASE NOTE!

Specify Interval Units limited to 255
This question was previously asked then marked as answered even though it was never properly answered (as an aside I don't think it makes sense that a moderator can attempt to answer a question and then mark their own reply as the correct response, only
the original asker should be able to mark a question as answered). Here's the old thread:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/4b040e3d-4b3c-4bbe-a1fc-d705f6dda308/specify-interval-units-bug-255-max?forum=officeitpro
To summarize: When setting labels on the X-axis (eg. in a line graph) in previous versions of Excel I could set an interval unit of anything, in Excel 2013 it is limited to 255. Here is the option I'm referring to: http://i.imgur.com/G3mbunY.png
Is there a solution to this problem?Hi,
As far as I know, "Specify Interval Units" limitation 255 is by design in Excel 2013. When the mouse hover the box, we'll see the tip "Enter a whole number from 1 to 255".
Thus, I recommend you submit the feedback with following website:

Thanks for your understanding.

Balanced Scorecard : Reversal of sign before showing value
hi Experts,
We want to multiply measure value coming from query by -1 before displaying in the scorecard. So in the attribute tab of measure definition for that measure for planning attribute in Reverse +/- signs we have put -1 as in F1 help its given as ( Reverse +/- signs Determines whether the plus/minus sign should be reversed or not. Enter 1 if the sign should not be reversed; enter -1, if the sign should be reversed. ).
After that we have buffered the scorecard for that measured but no change took place.
Please guide us how to achieve this requirement.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
SomenathU can use Formula like
M1*(-1).
Assign this formula while assigning the Measure to value field in Balanced Scorecard with value as Measure. -
Appraisal Form and Balanced Scorecard Integration
Dear Experts,
We are using an SAP R/3 4.7 system where we are running the Objective Settings and Appraisals. The requirement is to fetch the objectives stored in the Balanced Scorecard for the concerned org. unit; into the appraisal form, so as to allow the appriasee to choose from the Balanced Scorecard objectives as KRAs.
What are the steps required to do so? How do I integrate SAP R/3 HR PMS and Balanced Scorecard.
Edited by: AXE on Jul 7, 2009 11:48 AMBalance Scorecard is part of SEM-CPM (Strategic Enterprise Management - Corporate Performance Management).
You need to extract the data from HR into BW and the data resides in infocubes.
You need to use these infocubes in order to populate data in Balance Scorecard.

OCM, the Balanced Scorecard, and Fostering Collaboration
Many organizations try to implement a management methodology, like the Balanced Scorecard, in order to improve performance and meet the shifting needs of the marketplace.
When developing a scorecard, the organization identifies what it believes are the key performance indicators that are driving the business. And while it is easy enough to formulate a plan with shared goals and teamwork, realizing and executing on that plan can be more challenging.
During every step of this process, from communicating the goals, to identifying KPIs, to executing on the strategy, requires attention to change management.
How does an organization move toward a unified set of objectives when that means getting collaboration between departments and functions that typically compete for attention, turf, and resources?
Do you have any examples of how Organizational Change Management was effectively used to better the cooperation and interaction between departments? Were there any good lessons learned?
BobHi Bob,
We have used the "Portfolio" approach effectively to address the competing needs of various departmernts, functions.
A portfolio of the plans / initiatives under progress with the details in terms of money,Time etc is drawn and discussed in the workshop of the stake holders. The dependencies are also identified and discussed in detail. This is signed-off.
Based on the above it is easy to draw a heat map in terms of sensitivity and significance. This largely helps in bringing under control the competing departments etc.
If still the problem exists or in case of a tie,we can apply other constraints like money-cost of capital-,pay back period, skill set requirement, higher ROI relevant to a particular plan etc.
If we apply the yard stick logically in terms of the "value creation",the job of change management is half done.
In practice i have seen the delayed execution of the plans, the quality problems, the delayed collection of cash, bad relationship with the client really upset our plan. There should be a good governance in these areas. In a portfolio of "Resource constrained projects" the above will have a telling effect.
Lesson learned:
The Managers who fight for priority on logical reasoning in fact do good to the firm. They bring in the scenarios -often real time-and potray the effect. On the other hand the pliable Managers accept to every thing resulting in to missed oppurtunities, abnormal idleness in terms of idle time, idle resources, thus allow changes to happen at a very high price. In the process they inflict an irreversible damage.
Often the "good will" considerations prevail, meaning, even if the project is ranked last in the portfolio,if the customer is powerful or is potentially important from a future point of view, then these low ranked projects pierce thro' the filter at the cost of the "good ones" to the detriment of the organization. The significant side effect is,the performing departments get demoralized, frustrated with the poor allocation of the resources, delay etc. This sets a domino, which may threaten the very "business continuity".Resource buffering is essential to counter these.
In Change Management "For every Prize, there is a Price".This has to be examined from the value perspective.otherwise we are lost.
My 0.1%.
Reagrds.

Balanced Scorecard overview screen-trees to be displayed in collapse mode
When the user logs into Balanced Scorecard overview screen all the trees are displayed in expanded mode, need to display the trees in collapse mode by default. i.e Only nodes visible should be top level hierarchy nodes. The user should be able to decide which nodes he wants to expand.
Hi RP,
1. 0SEM_C02 can typically be used to store all the initiatives. Please note that initiatives can be linked to Project Systems in SAP R/3 and the project data can be automatically brought over to initiatives. Now it may happen that not all of those initiatives may be dependent on scorecards and there can be scorecard independent initiatives. The business content cube that you mentioned can be used to store and report on such inititives and their links to scorecards if any.
2. What infoobjects to have in the scorecard cube depends upon your requirements and there is not a good or bad choice here. If you choose 0SEM_POSIT as one of the infoobjects, then you can easily access all the measures.
3. The data read from BW or buffer also depends upon your performance requirements. If your situation is such that you must report the latest data in BW all the time, then reading from buffer only will not serve your purpose because the data will be read only from the buffer and not from the cube. In that case, you may have to fill the buffer often to keep the buffer data up to date. If you select read from Bw only, then it will bypass your buffer and for every small request, it will access the infocube(s). This may be performace drag depending upon the size of the data, performance of the related queries etc. If you choose read from buffer/BW with latest time stamp, then it will access BW only if latest data resides there. This may not be a good option if the performace is a prime concern. Ofcourse if you are using BIA, then you can safely read from BW.

Balanced Scorecard Documentation
My client is on R11.5.9 and would like to implement Balanced Scorecard. The most current version of the Install, User & Admin Guides we can find on CD or Online is for R11.5.6, and the User and Install Guides in both places get errors when you try to read them. Is the documentation for R11.5.6 the most current available (meaning the app has not been updated since then)?
If the R11.5.6 documentation is the most current, where can I get readable PDF files...if there is more current documentation for R11.5.7, R11.5.8 and/or R11.5.9, where can I get readable PDF files for that release?
Thanks!
GaryHi Wim - is that you?,
Anyway - Hello Mr Double U,
We are very happy that you found this floorplan useful.
The example use case on Page 4 was realised by 4 tables overlaid on 4 forms (you can overlay tables on forms in layout mode then send to back/send to front similar to powerpoint layout)
The arrows and red/green images are called conditional icons. When you create each table (fed by a BI query) you should include 2 extra columns for these 2 images. Within the definition of the column you can define the condition e.g. if Sales > x then show green light, if sales <x show red light etc. The trend icon works in a smilar way. It is easier if the BI Query itself delivers a "trend score" e.g. % change from one period to the next. Then the trend icon in VC can be made conditional on this trend score.
Hope that helps.
Thank you and Kind Regards,

You are not the candidate/staffing manager for the specified org unit
Hi all.
With cProjects 4.0 (SP10) we are using the staffing scenario "Resource manager via responsible organization" meaning that the role will be directed to the organizational unit specificed in the "staffing process" tab who then handles the staffing.
Despite the above I get the messages from the Subject header when maintaining the role
You are not a candidate manager for the specified or initial organizational unit
You are not a staffing manager for the specified organizational unit"
As the scenario builds upon the project creating requirements through the role the above messages seem unlogical.
Is there an explanation for why the messages are received?
Best regards / AndersHi.
I also assume that is meaning of the message - but is that logical in this staffing scenario?
The project (leader) should create & update the role and then hand it over to the org unit for staffing by changing the status of the role "Start staffing process". The above message should not be received upon setting that status.
It can not be the intention that the project leader should be assigned as a resource manager to all possible org units.
Phrasing it differently, when the status of the role only is "Staffing in preparation" the project leader must be able to update it including setting the staffing status without these messages being received.
When the status of the role is Staffing in process the only thing the project leader ought to be able to do is the reset the status of the role (cancel the staffing request).

Period in Personal view in SEM Balanced Scorecards
Hi all
I have a problem regarding Personal Views in SEM Balanced Scorecards. I have saved some Personal views, so that I can easily find the drilldown and selection I am interested in. The problem is, that the views are saved with the period initially selected, and when time passes, and I enter a new period, the views still contain the period initially saved, so I have to change alle views manually. Does anybody know how to make the period dynamic, so that saved views always shows current period?
Thank you in advance

User Exits in Balance Scorecard
In the balance scorecard project (SEM 6.0 and BW 7.0) at our clients place, we need more details to be incorporated for a given metric and initiative as follows:
Metrics: Apart from the metric owner, we need to store data entry responsible, backup for data entry responsible, metric due date
Initiatives: Type of Initiative, Internal Order Number, Allocated Budget, Budget Spent, Forecasted End date of Initiative (different from End date of Initiative), Effort based progress, Status
We need to know whether there are any user exits provided in Balance Scorecard to put these fields on the screens and post data into the backend tables when saved. Any suggestions/comments are welcome. I will assign points to helpful posts. Also could someone please post the list of backend tables in Balance Scorecard?Scorec card is a front end and there is no question of saving scorecard. Can you pl explain what do you mean when you say ""We need to know whether there are any user exits provided in Balance Scorecard to put these fields on the screens and post data into the backend tables when save "..
If you need to capture the info that you mentioned you need to write the exits at the source from where the scorecard gets data.
For your other question, try tables starting with UMC*

Hi,
We are creating Balanced ScoreCard in SAP SEM System.
The steps which we are following are like this:
1) First we created Scorecard Elements like Strategies,Perpsectives and init etc. in UMC_CUST tc.
2) Now, I am creating a Measure in UMK_MB and in Datasource tab, when i assgin a Value field..the RFC Connection and Infoprovider and Report is not coming. (i have created a Value Field at umc_cpm_strat..and i checked the RFC connection also which supposed to be local system only.)
Can any body throw light on linkage between measure builder and Infoproviders(Transactional One)?
I have some Questions regarding CPM-BSC asked by users to me
1) Can initiatives be set with Measure?
2) Is it possible to display tachometer and trend chart comparisons between two score cards?
3) Can more than one score card be displayed at a time?
4)How difficult/easy is it to add columns to reports or score cards?
5) Is it possible to change the decimal points?
6) How difficult/easy is it to add a new metric or delete an old one
7) Is possible to develop personal views
Can anybody help me! it's Urgent. Thanks
Regards,
Prernahi
i can give feedback for some points:
Can more than one score card be displayed at a time? Yes
Is possible to develop personal views? Yes
Can initiatives be set with Measure?
Generally for objective we will hv measures and initiatives
