Bandwidth for remote Lion Profile Manager server

Hi all,
Can anyone shed some light on what kind of upstream bandwidth you'd need to have for a remote Lion Profile Manager server to manage your Macs?  I'm not thinking about accessing home directories over the Internet, just the configuration profiles.
Thanks in advance for any input,
Chris

  • Restore Profile Manager server

    Hi,
    We had some failing storage for ESXi which destroyed a Profile Manager server. We will use a backup to restore a slightly older version and re-enroll the devices that was enrolled after the backup was created.
    Has anyone had any experience in restoring a Profile Manager server in any other way and without having to re-enroll all the devices? I guess it's not possible if server keys are lost?

    You have to bear in mind there is no hard relationship between a protocol (e.g. 'HTTP', 'HTTPS', etc.) and port number. Any protocol/service can run on just about any port. Sure, there are conventions (HTTP -> 80, SMTP -> 25, etc.), but you are free to override those in your own configuration.
    In addition, Apple's listing covers the default ports used by the various Apple-provided services and configuration, so yes, you'll find multiple 'HTTPS'-based services listed, but that's not to say they're being used because you might not enable the associated service.
    For example, if you don't use JBoss then the 9006/8080/8443 ports might not be used.
    So it's up to you to look at the services you're using, to determine which ports they're using, and configure the network accordingly.
    If you're only running standard web services then you should only need port 80 (and 443 if you're using HTTPS), although it looks like Profile Manager also uses port 1640.

  • Monitoring info not appearing in console for one of the managed server

    Monitoring info not appearing in console for one of the managed server though server is running fine. It happens some times. I tried to get these info from executruntimeMBean, but that is also not returning any info for that server. The entry for that server get erased from running-managed-server.xml after some time. Any idea why?

    hi Arun,
    Please find the below diagnostic module config fom the condig.xml
    <server-diagnostic-config>
    <data-retirement-enabled>true</data-retirement-enabled>
    <wldf-data-retirement-by-age>
    <name>DomainHealth_WLDFRetirePolicy_m2ap5</name>
    <enabled>true</enabled>

    <retirement-period>6</retirement-period>
    <retirement-age>1</retirement-age>
    </wldf-data-retirement-by-age>
    </server-diagnostic-config>
    This configuration was present earlier also, but it looks like the logs statrted accumulating recently due to some other changes made to console. There is nothing coming under the WLDF console extension in server admin console.
    Other than changing the start script, will it be fine to go the file location ./server/data/store/diagnostics/WLSDIAGNOSTIC**.DAT and delete the older file while the server is running now?
    Incase not posisible , an example on the change in startscript and the config.xml will b helpful
    thanks

  • Lion iOS Management Server

    I am thinking that I have the server all configured properly, the problem is when I add the iPad to the Management Server, it will show up in on the server but will not push anything out. I am able to enrol the device, but when I try to push out an app or just a remote command it fails, It will show under "active tasks" but will just hang and never complete.
    Just wondering if others have had similar problems. Now I have been reading, and the push notification certificate is created from the Lion Server, but I have also read that a signed certificate is also required, just wondering if that could be the cause of my problems.
    Thanks for any insight!

    I think anybody who has been testing Lion Server has had this problem at one time or another .
    It's possible that the APNS servers are simply overloaded at the moment you try to push out your profile and the request isn't furfilled imediately. However, this happens to me SOME of the time not ALL of the time. I would say in my testing, 1 out of every 10 push requests gets stuck in Active Tasks. I usually give it a couple of minuites before I cancel the request and re-push the profile at a later time. It usually works when I re-push it.
    If you have never had a successful profile pushed to your devices, that might be different than it just being Apple's over-taxed APNS servers.

  • Lion Profile Manager clear passcode ipad 2

    Hi All,
    First ever post to Apple forums:)  I'll try to make it simple
    Ok on Profile manager I enrolled the ipad all went good, with passcode setting.
    Now the user has forgotten the passcode.
    I go to profile manager, select the device and select clear passcode and Its stuck on sending, because the ipad cannot connect to the internet since it uses proxy with authentication.
    So is there a workaround to this problem, I cant change the proxy settings on the ipad since it is locked.
    So how can I clear the passcode
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    Is the Lion server directly on the internet, or is there a proxy server or fire wall? These will block the ports needed for the Lion server to send the push request to the Apple Cloud.
    Is the Web browser you used, Safari or Firefox?  Safari is more relaible to connect to the profile manager.

  • Why SCCM 20012 Install fails with remote 64 bit SQL Server but proceeds for remote 32 bit SQL Server

    I have the following setup:
    AD User accounts
    - SQLAdmin (used to run SQL Services i.e. Database Engine)
    - SCCMADmin (used to install SCCM 2012)
    SPN registered for user account SQLAdmin

    Tried to install SCCM 2012 RC2 when logged in to SCCM Server as AD user account
    SCCMAdmin,  and when utilising the SCCM2012 SQL instance on
    32 bit server of SQL install proceeds barring warning about 8GB rec, for SQL Server. Then fails on PKI certificate issue. Installation (chose HTTP for MP). I beleive the PKI failure as install starts is
    due to the fact that SCCM 2012 needs its database server to b 64 bit ?
    Thus i then tried to install SCCM 2012 RC2 when logged in to SCCM Server as AD user account SCCMAdmin,  and
    when using the SCCM2012 SQL instance on
    64 bit server of SQL install proceeds but fails at checking stage and says:
    SQL Server sysadmin rights FAILED SQL3.Domain_Name
    Either the user account running Configuration Manager Setup does not have sysadmin SQL Server role permissions on the SQL Server instance selected for site database installation, or the SQL Server instance could not be contacted to verify permissions. Setup
    cannot continue.

    Site System to SQL Server communication  WARNING SCCM.Domain_Name

    Server instance hosting the site database. Setup cannot continue.
    Why does the install of SCCM 2012 with 32 bit SQL proceed further than the install with 64 bit SQL, with the latter process failing as above error meesages show and yet both servers are set identically (apart from temporary turning off Firewall on the 64
    bit server) and during the install the Databse Server specified is accepted ?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I can connect via ODBC to the the 32 bit SQL Server and the 64 bit SQL Server from the SCCM Server
    The SQL Server Unit called SQL3 unit is a 64 bit SQL.
    The SQL Server Unit called SQL is only 32 bit, but at least gets past the final checking stage and the error messages about sysadmin rights and Site System to SQL Server communication problem, and then fails with PKI certificate error message.
    When trying to install SCCM specifying the 64 bit SQL Server as the Database Server it gives the 2 error messages at the final checking stage of the installation as listed.
    So as I said what is confusing is the fact that if the SCCM install uses the remote 32 bit SQL Server it passes the final checking (although fails with PKI certificate message) but the 64 bit SQL Server set up exactly the same apart from the Firewall being
    left off for the time being, fails at the final check stage with the 2 listed errors.
    If I use a local 64 bit SQL Server the installation is fine.
    Still would like to find out what cause the 2 issues for the remote 64 bit SQL Server, when ODBC seems fine, sysadmin rights have been given for the installer account and the SCCM computer account and SPNs have been set for the user account running the SQL
    Services.

  • Remote start of managed server

    Hello everyone,
    1: I am using Weblogic Application Server version 10.3.0 in development mode over Windows machines. I will use the word 'host' for the hardware machine to avoid confusion with Weblogic 'machine'.
    2: The scenario is as follows :
         : There are two hosts - Host-1 with IP 111.222.333.444 and Host-2 with IP 555.666.777.888
         : A Weblogic domain was created on Host-1 with one managed server and one (Weblogic)machine. The admin. server runs on Host-1 at port 7001
         : The machine,say M1,was assigned the IP of the Host-2 i.e 555.666.777.888
         : The managed server,say web-server,was targetted to M1 and will run on port 7005
         : The steps like pack and unpack were carried successfully and the admin. server was started on Host-1 and web-server was started on Host-2(NOT REMOTELY).The node manager on Host-2 was started at default port 5556
    3: OBJECTIVE is to remotely start/stop the web-server from Host-1 via a Windows Scheduled Task which will call the startManagedWebLogic.cmd in turn.
    4: The issue that I am facing is via admin. server console(accessed on Host-1),I am able to start/stop the web-server(on Host-2) remotely. But as soon as I attempt to start it using a script,
    startManagedWebLogic.cmd web-server http://111.222.333.444:7001
    I get JVM_BIND issue

    Actually, my message had a mistake in it. I had mentioned the port number as 7003 for the ManagedServerB. It should have been 6129.
              Any solution to the problem ?

  • Web Access for Remote Desktop on Windows Server 2012

    Hello,
    i've a Windows Server 2012 without a domain. So i installed the remote desktop session host, the remote desktop license server and the remote desktop gateway as a server role only. All is working fine. Without a domain, no management tools for remote
    desktop are available. So i configure the remote desktop via the registry. I define (via registry) some remoteapps, too. All values are copied from a running Windows Server 2008 R2. So the remoteapps are runing.
    Now i want to use the new Microsoft Remote Desktop client for Android. To use a remoteapp i must define a remote resource. To define a remote resource i need a url to the web access for remote desktop. So i installed the web access. But if i login to the
    web access, i don't see any remoteapp. What's wrong? I've set the ShowInTSWA to 1. What must i do to access an existing remoteapp via web access?
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
    Server 2012 RD Web Access is designed to retrieve published RemoteApps and Desktops from a Server 2012 RD Connection Broker and/or a Server 2008 R2 RD Session Host server.  From your description it doesn't appear that you are using either of the above.
    I know it is a more complicated set up, but you should consider having a domain, creating a RDS deployment, etc., so that you can use the full featureset as it was intended.  You can do it all on a single server if needed.  For Server 2012
    there is a hotfix that needs to be applied to permit RD Connection Broker to work on the same server instance as active directory.

  • How do I use multiple VPP accounts in a school system with 1 Profile manager server?

    I have 40 schools with their own money they want to spend on apps. I need these accounts to be seperate. We are registered in the Device enrollment program and are using Apple's profile manager to distribute VPP apps. In the DEP website you can add existing vpp admins. I had hoped when these accounts purchased apps, the apps would show up in Profile Manager which uses the master Apple ID, but this didn't happen. Anyone know what the correct process is for doing this?

    If you haven't found the answer: You have to install the correct token for each account.  Apple Servers, as far as I know, do not support using multiple tokens at once.  As a result, you will have to swap out each of the 40 tokens anytime anyone wants to buy something then assign it to a user then push the app.
    Or just buy it with a redemption code and give that code to your users.

  • Libraries for Human task in managed server

    Hi All,
    We are using SOA Suite 11.1.1.6 for the current project. I have a questions regarding the setup of the managed server for Human Task Flow. For specific reasons, in our domain, we have three managed servers: admin, soa and taskform. The managed domain "taskform" will hold all ear project for human tasks.
    The question is while configuring the domain, which libraries should we install in the "taskform" managed server?
    Thanks in advance.
    Steven

    Hi,
    Have a look at
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_designtf.htm
    section 28.8.4 How To Deploy a Task Form to a non-SOA Oracle WebLogic Server
    This is the 11.1.1.5 documentation I am sure there would be an equilivant in your version.
    In theory the URL should be provided by the deployment process but you can check this
    In EM click on the composite with the human task component in it
    Under Component Metrics click on the human task component
    In the Administration tab you should see an entry which is the URI to the task form
    As I said I havn't got this working on our system yet and I would be intrested in hearing if you are sucessful

  • Health Service Heartbeat Failure Alert for Generated when one Management Server Down,

    Hi,
    I have Two Management Server, every one manage about 100 server, when one Management Server goes down unexpected, I receive 100 Alert for 100 Server Health Service Heartbeat Failure.
    My Question, why when the Management Server down, it send that all Managed agent Health Service Heartbeat Failure?
    Is there a way to change this?

    SCOM 2012 agent will autofailover when primary server is down. You can check the failover management server by using the following powershell cmdlet:
    #Verify Failover for Agents reporting to MS1
    $Agents = Get-SCOMAgent | where {$_.PrimaryManagementServerName -eq 'MS1.DOMAIN.COM'}
    $Agents | sort | foreach {
    Write-Host "";
    "Agent :: " + $_.Name;
    "--Primary MS :: " + ($_.GetPrimaryManagementServer()).ComputerName;
    $failoverServers = $_.getFailoverManagementServers();
    foreach ($managementServer in $failoverServers) {
    "--Failover MS :: " + ($managementServer.ComputerName);
    Write-Host "";

  • AAA Radius Authentication for Remote VPN With ACS Server Across L2L VPN

    Hi,
    I have an ASA running fine on the network which provide L2L tunnel to remote site and provide Remote VPN for remote access users.
    Currently, there is a need for the users to authenticate against an ACS server that located across the L2L VPN tunnel.
    The topology is just simple with 2 interfaces on the ASA, inside and outside, and a default route pointing to the ISP IP Address.
    I can ping the IP address of the ACS Server (which located at the remote site, IP addr: 10.10.10.56) from the ASA:
    ping inside 10.10.10.56
    However when I configure the ASA for the AAA group with commands:
    aaa-server ACSAuth protocol radius
    aaa-server ACSAuth host (inside) 10.10.10.56 key AcsSecret123
    Then when I do the show run, here is the result:
    aaa-server ACSAuth protocol radius
    aaa-server host 10.10.10.56
    key AcsSecret123
    From what I thought is, with this running config, traffic is not directed to the L2L VPN tunnel
    (seems to be directed to the default gateway due to the default route information) which cause failure to do the AAA authentication.
    Does anybody ever implement such this thing and whether is it possible? And if yes, how should be the config?
    Your help will be really appreciated!
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Jo

    AAA is designed to enable you to dynamically configure the type of authentication and authorization you want on a per-line (per-user) or per-service (for example, IP, IPX, or VPDN) basis. You define the type of authentication and authorization you want by creating method lists, then applying those method lists to specific services or interfaces.

  • Direct Access is working but how do I configure it for remote services, client management software, etc..

    Good morning/afternoon/evening TechNet,
    I've finally gotten a DA client connected to the corporate network utilizing an external network. I'm having a couple issues, one, not being able to ping the server from a computer that's on the same domain(I'm able to ping the DA client from the DA server).
    I'm not sure if there is a firewall setting that needs to be open on the client for incoming echo requests? Second, we use a client management system called BMC and I would like the direct access server to be able to utilize the BMC server so that I can manage
    the DA client whenever its on the network. I noticed on the DA server that "Step 3" offers an area where it allows you to add servers that will be used for direct access client management. Would I just need to populate the server in here and then
    open appropriate firewall rules so that the DA server has access to them? Lastly, Trying to "mstsc" into the DA client what would I need to open up on both sides so that I'm able to do this?
    Sorry about the horrible grammar but I've been up 24+ hours getting this awesome but pain in the butt Direct Access feature working.
    Thank you as always!
    -Liqsh0t

    I'm afraid it's a bit more complicated than adding a server into the list in Step 3 :)
    When a DirectAccess client is connecting into a corporate network that is IPv4 (I assume yours is, most are), it can reach into your IPv4 servers because the DA server is doing NAT64/DNS64 translations, turning all of your DirectAccess IPv6 packets into
    IPv4 packets before they head inside the network. But even though this happens in the background without you really knowing about it, the key thing there is that all DirectAccess traffic is IPv6. This means the clients can only be contacted via IPv6. If you
    have IPv6 inside your network, then you can route outbound fairly easily to your DA client computers. If you are all IPv4 inside as most companies are, then you have to either roll IPv6 out inside your network, at least partially, or you have to utilize ISATAP
    inside your network in order to create a sort of "virtual IPv6 cloud" that runs on top of your IPv4 internal network. This enables your internal management systems (like the BMC servers and helpdesk computers for RDP access outbound) to have a connection
    into the IPv6 world, which then enables them some routing capability to get out to the IPv6-connected DA clients. In addition to this IPv6 or ISATAP setup, you also need to configure WFAS rules on the DA clients so that they will allow this traffic.
    There is some info on setting up ISATAP here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/jasonjones/archive/2013/04/19/limiting-isatap-services-to-directaccess-manage-out-clients.aspx
    Otherwise one of the chapters in this book is also dedicated to the setup of a selective ISATAP environment, to be used for the purposes of DirectAccess outward management: https://www.packtpub.com/virtualization-and-cloud/microsoft-directaccess-best-practices-and-troubleshooting

  • Use one profile for all user profiles in Server 2012 R2

    Hi
    I am setting up an Windows Server 2012 R2 Template on VMware.
    I will do som changes with the local admin user, and want all user that will log in to servers made from this Template, get the user profile I have set up for the admin account.
    How to I do that?
    Regards
    StigKSand

    the way I used to do this was to create a new profile the way I wanted with any shortcuts applications etc installed. then I would create another user account on the PC and make it an admin.
    reboot the pc to ensure it hasn't got the pre-configured profile loaded and login with your newly created admin account.
    then right click This PC in windows explorer and select properties, then select advanced system settings, and select user profiles on the advanced tab. You can then select the profile you made all the configuration to, and click copy and then select default
    profile.
    this should then mean any new users who login get this default profile on this server.
    hopefully that is what you were referring to.

  • Null argument for startup classes when managered server starts

    Hi Everyone,
    We have a Weblogic 10.3.5 clustering environment. the environment seems to work fine. I am able to have the servers (both Admin and Managed) and deployed applications running without any problems. However, I just notice that, every time when I start the Managered servers, I got the following information in the system log. It appears that they are start-up classes, but with null argument. Are they normal or not?
    Thanks in advance,
    John

    Hi John,
    This is Ok. Those are just info messages. Thery are not warnings or errors, so nothing to worry about.
    If the classes are invoked with null arguments and no exception is thrown, then is means that the class is able to have a null argument, so nothing to worry about again.
    Regards,
    Cris
