Bandwidth issue

Hi All,
I have 2950 switch, multiple vlans created on it, Is there any way to configure specific vlan with particular bandwidth speed?
Also, if I configured specific port as follows:
(conf)int f0/2
bandwidth 2048000
Does the above means 2mb speed up/down?
thanks,

I'm afraid that will not achieve what you want. There is no way to limit all traffic to a specific bandwidth for a VLAN on the 2950.
I would suggest that you apply a QoS service policy on the router that does inter-vlan routing for this VLAN in order to achieve your rate-limiting.
Pls do remember to rate posts.

  • Bandwidth Issue on a Local LAN

    OK,
I've been beating my head against the wall with this one. First I will begin with a list of the test equipment.
    2 iSight Cameras, 1 Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz, 1 iMac G5 1.8Ghz and a PowerMacG5 Dual 2Ghz.
It all started when I went to connect from my PowerMac to my iMac. I kept getting the Insufficient bandwidth issue. So I thought the problem was the iSight Cameras, so I pulled out my laptop and presto the Powerbook connected both video and audio with no problem to my iMac. Next, I decided to test Powerbook to Powermac and I got the same error. So I thought to myself maybe it is a preference file. I moved my preference folder out of my Library on my Powermac, rebooted and attempted again, still got the same error. So I though again, maybe iChat is corrupted on my PowerMac, I deleted it and grabbed the copy from my Powerbook and placed it on my Powermac. Tried again, same error.
As you can tell by now I am ripping my hair out. All the machines have the same settings for iChat and Quicktime so that is not the problem.
So then there was one more thing, my iMac and Powerbook are both wireless and the Powermac is on my Gigabit LAN. Hmmmm.... so I placed my powerbook on the wire LAN just to make sure that wasn't the issue. Guess What?! The same ERROR!!!!
By now I have no hair left on my head. Can someone please advice what could be happening, what I did not try. I do not think I need to reinstall Tiger on my Powermac, that is a windows thing (when all else fails reformat and install). Both the powerbook and powermac are upgraded the iMac is a clean Tiger install. Please someone help!!!
    Thank you,
    JC

OK here is where I put my foot in my mouth. I have 2 gateways in my house one for dsl and one for cable. I have both in case one goes down in my house as I work from home. All the machines that were getting dynamic addressing were pointing out to the dsl router (iMAC, POWERBOOK) and the ones with physical address are pointing to the Cable (POWERMAC, PC, SERVER (workign comps)). THis is due to the fact that I didn't want my wife or daughter on using up the faster cable connection. THey are all still in the same network but pointing to different routers. Now I do not know how it affects the video/audio chat of iChat but it does. Even though all machines can see each other, work together, have a TEXT chat together but just see the internet via different routers as all before is local, it appears to cause a problem with the video and audio connections. So Ralph, thank you, you were correct, it had to do with the router. I would love to know how this affected anything since it was the video/audio connection I wanted was local.

  • HT1498 Bandwidth issues anyone?  I watch Netflix all the time and never have any bandwidth issues if I rent a movie on iTunes its constantly buffering.

Why do I have bandwidth  issues only with iTunes.?this is not the first time and its not common it's every time.  I watch Netflix on a daily basis it may buffer in middle of something once or twice a day.  From what I've read to send HD only needs around 5-8 Mbps  I have 15 at my house   I can nearly watch an iTunes movie with out it buffering about every 5 minutes.

If you are genuinely getting sustained 15 Mbps downloads iTunes content should play immediately and not stop/startl - the fact this is happening suggests an issue with your LAN or wider internet connection (or the AppleTV).
Netflix works differently - the image quality is rate adaptive and decreases as available speed drops, consequently I can play Netflix withing seconds whereas HD iTunes movies need to buffer for about 20 mins on my 4.5 Mbps connection.

  • Does 10.4.3 fix anybody's "insufficient bandwidth" issue?

Apple claims that 10.4.3 makes progress on curing the "insufficient bandwidth" issue that plagues many ichat users. It did not help me. Did it help you?

    hi Cgist,
iChat needs a minimum connection speed of 100kbps for even 1-1 Video chats.
This can be capped by setting System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab to a speed less than than this.
It can be further capped by iChat itself in Preferences > Video Section > Bandwidth Drop down (even setting it to 100 here will enable only abbout 80% of the bandwidth available.
There is also a difference between pure internet connection speed and the bandwidth available. Imagine a 4 lane carriage way. It may have 4 lanes and a speed of 70 mhp but add cars and coaches(buses) and lorries(trucks) then it soonn becomes congested.
You can test your Internet connection speed here http://www.dslreports.com/stest
You can check the settings above.
You also need to get your Buddy to check.
Also any other app that is using the internet is also eating into that bandwidth as are other computers sharing the connection.

  • Bandwidth Issues on 1.5 ghz PB

Hey, lately i've been notiving some internet issues with my PowerBook.
When i try to do an audio chat in iChat, it says "Connecting" then shows "Insufficient Bandwidth". I can do this on my FW800 PowerMac, and the two computers both connect to the internet via AirPort Extreme.
I'm on a 768k DSL, and my PB has 512 MB of RAM. My FW800 has 1 gig. Both computers are running 10.4.2. Any clues why this could be?

Doubtful it has anything to do with ram. If the Powermac runs ichat video ok but your Powerbook doesn't, than it points to the airport settings on the PB. Try running a broadband test on both and compare.
    http://www.dslreports.com/stest
if your PB is running really slow we will need to check each setting in airport utility. Changing the channel, multicast rate, transmitter power, sometimes makes a big difference. Updating the firmware might be a factor too. Check the antenna on the airport card to make sure it is seating correctly.

  • MBPr wifi bandwidth issues.

    Hello all,
I have just started having issues with my MBPr on my home wifi network... My internet works great with any other device, computers, etc. But when I connect my MBPr I am having issues where the entire ping for my home network goes from 30ms to 1600+ms... After talking to my ISP for over an hour we determined there is something running on my Mac that is causing the bandwidth on my network to completely be taken over.
I have bootcamp on my computer so when starting windows partition there is absolutely no issue at all when running speedtests, as well as when I am in a test user account meaning there is no hardware issue and it is guaranteed going to be user-specific. I don't have anything downloading or uploading upon startup. the only applications I see running is finder. Is there any plists or anything that I can do to try and get rid of this annoying problem. Have yet to figure out if this occurs on multiple networks. I have two different wireless routers that I can connect to and issue occurs on both.
If anyone has any ideas I am willing to try it! Thanks for the help. I have already tried a reinstallation of OSX Mavericks which went rather quickly similar to my expected internet speeds with no difference in performance after.
    Thanks,
    Blake

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Bandwidth Issues?

    Hi there
I'm on a MacBook Pro (first release with dual core) with the following Bluetooth in it:
    Manufacturer: Cambridge Silicon Radio
    Firmware Version: 3.1965 (3.1965)
    HCI Version: 3 ($3)
    HCI Revision: 1965 ($7ad)
    LMP Version: 3 ($3)
    LMP Subversion: 1965 ($7ad)
When I'm using only the Mighty Mouse and the Apple Wireless Keyboard (aluminium), everything works fine - despite very occasional disconnects.
Things, however, are different if I switch on an audio device like a Plantronics Pulsar P590 (both headset and headphone) or a little Jabra headset. I'm getting random disconnects as well as dropouts. The Bluetooth Explorer (Devtools) Connection Quality Window shows that for no apparent reason (such as moving devices farer away), the quality and RSSI drop. I get the impression, that typing on the keyboard provokes audio dropouts. (The audio dies as soon as the quality is below 100.)
Any idea what could be the reason for this or how I could further debug this issue? Bandwidth maybe?
I've read that the bluetooth card in some Macbooks is indeed faulty, any more information about this? Is it possible to have it replaced or upgraded?
Many thanks for you hints... -sven

Last year, we moved our web, e-mail, and database
services from an old Cobalt RaQ4 to a shiny new
    XServe.
Since we've installed the XServe, our usage
has gone up by several Gigabytes per month.
    The only servers running
are DNS, Mail, FTP, Apache, and MySQL.
There has been an explosion in SPAM over the past year. We have found, with our small business and our in-house Xserve that is our primary MX and primary DNS, that very close to 100% of the incoming bandwidth is due to SPAM. If you increase the incoming bandwidth, the SPAM will increase until the pipe is filled. That's the nature of the internet today.
Your DNS will be hit by SPAMmers, too, looking up your MX, and your server will be looking up the reverse DNS of the spambots for logging, but that traffic is generally not as large as the SMTP traffic due to the SPAM.
I bet that's what is happening. Your older server processed SPAM at a certain rate, which was the gating item. Your new server can accept more connections and can reject SPAM faster. Coupled with the explosion in SPAM, your bandwidth increases. That's my guess.

  • LAP - Bandwidth issue

    Hello everyone,
I would like to share with you a strange issue.
After a WLC upgrade (version 6 to 7), we noticed that the bandwidth had been reduced by twice.
The only workaround we found to restore the bandwidth is a reset of the LAP to factory default.
Does anyone have already seen something like that ?
    Regards,

You should open a TAC case and see if they have a bug id or maybe they will create one if they can reproduce it. Then follow up on your post if possible.

  • ASA 5505 - Outside Outbound Bandwidth Issue

ZyXel DSL modem (10MB download and 768Kbps or so upload)
DSL modem is operating in bridge mode
Cisco ASA 5505 in routed mode with ten users behind the ASA.  Nothing fancy about the ASA setup.
Each user relies on their own FirePass or Cisco VPN client (outbound, no configuration required in the ASA) continously from 8am to 5pm.  Outlook and light application usage over the VPN only.
On Friday, 05/17/13, the outbound connections were working well.  Latency was good throughout the day (less than 40ms to Google).  On the outside interface, output bandwidth was less than 500Kbps (much less for large portions of the day!).  Three users were using streaming Internet radio.
On Monday, 05/20/13, the outbound connections were working poorly.  Latency was bad (170ms and higher to Google).  On the outside interface, output bandwidth was remaining steady throughout the day between 800Kbps and 850Kbps.  Occasionally, the outside output bandwidth would drop to 40Kbps, then 600Kbps and then back to 800Kbps or so.  No user on Monday was uploading any large files, no cloud backup or anything of the sort.  No users were listening to Internet radio.
On Monday afternoon, I shut down five client machines and the outside output bandwidth was still around 800Kbps.
On Monday evening, I stopped by the office after each user had left the building and checked the outside interface output bandwidth and it was between 0Kbps and 45Kbps (virtually no load).  I verified that all machines were powered on, but the VPN clients were disconnected.
On Friday and Monday, for the outside interface, the input bandwidth was  between 200Kbps and 500Kbps with occasional higher spikes when users  downloaded something.
What could cause the difference between Friday and Monday?  Is the DSL upload simply maxed out?  If the DSL upload is maxed out, why did it work well on Friday when I had a greater demand on the connection?
    Thank you

    Hello Modulus,
Did you take captures on the outside interface or the ASA ( This to check what is leaving the ASA ) as you are using VPN clients traffic will go encrypted so you will not be able to determine what is the traffic used for but at least you might notice some extra-traffic (outside the VPN traffic) as this does not look right or normal,
    Regards
    Julio

  • Installation Bandwidth issue-

I have just started to install the CC apps. Photoshop failed to install initially, this left the install folder available on my desktop. I transferred this folder to my back-up machine and successfully installed PS on there, but now I notice with subsequent installs there is no install folder left behind once the app is fully installed.
I only get 12GB per month download bandwidth and I usually use most of this allowance, so I need to know if there is any way I can transfer an installed app to my back-up machine without re-downloading?
I understand that the full CC range would consume approx 11 GB of bandwith, so I hope you can see my problem, it would take me months to download the full suite! (not that I need all apps though).
    Thanks.
    Paul

There is not a way to transfer an installed application to another computer. You need to run an installer.
You could down the installer for each product. Install it on each computer and then activate using your Adobe ID. Such steps are outlined here http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/convert-cs6-licensed-under-ccm.html.

  • Router to pix vpn ipsec - bandwidth issue

I basically followed the config example of cisco in :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a0080094498.shtml
    it works fine.
    my pb is:
the remote site has a 2Mbps line but once the tunnel is up, even without traffic in the tunnel, the link between any client behind the router and a line tester in the OUTSIDE world (internet) will give very poor results.....
    what could be wrong ?
no crc error, no error at all, just that the bandwidth with the outside world is vanishing
    any idea?

Did you apply any QOS on the link?

  • Best way to get presentations out with bandwidth issues.

    Hi,
I am not an IT or Network employee and now that I have made all these great Software simulations and video demos how do I lump them all together with a table of contents and get them out to employees in our facility to utilize.  If I publish to You Tube I know they are worried about it affecting our bandwidth can anyone walk me through this?

If this content is being delivered from a web server then you could create a Captivate module that just acts as a menu to jump to other Captivate published projects on the same server.
However, if you are intending to serve this content from a network LAN then your best bet is to create an ordinary HTM web page that has links to launch each of the HTM files for the Captivate published projects.  The reason is that Flash Global Security will prevent one Captivate project from calling another one. See information here:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-troubleshooting/how-to-set-up-flash-global -security
If you eventually decide you need to track this content I would recommend you start thinking about an LMS.

  • RVS4000 Bandwidth issue

    Hello
I have recently purchased a RVS4000 VPN Router and I have a slight problem I wish an expert to help me with.
At home I have a 100Mbps internet connection which gets a result of around 80-98Mbps on the speedtest.net . However, when I connect the RVS4000 to my network I can only achieve 20Mbps. I am using Cat 6 cabling for everything with Gigabit ports. The QoS / bandwidth settings are disabled.
Any ideas what could be causing the slow down?

  • AIR-LAP1242AG bandwidth issue

    Good afternoon,
My name is Dave and my company has assigned me to fix an issue with the signal from a WLAN 5508 Controller to several ( maybe 12) AIR-LAP1242AG's in a warehouse location.
We are currently using a single 5 GHz anntenna but are looking into other options.
The issue we are having is the signal strength.  We are using Windows CE scan guns and the wireless is weak at best (even if you stand directly under the AP.
Since I am brand new to the job, I am unfamiliar with our topology but will do what I can to resolve this issue.  Could the issue be a combination of power, antenna strength and something in the controller perventing the signal from passing?
The ceilings in the warehouse rafters are between 25-30ft.    I will be happy to assist anyone that might be able to point us in the right direction.
I have yet to look into the AP's console but I wanted to get possibly a few ideas.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration in solving our issue.
    Sincerely,
    Dave P.

Thank you so much for your response.  Here are the answers to your questions.
    1.  Are the APs installed suspended from the ceiling and the "Cisco" logo pointing to the floor? Yes
    2.  Are the 5Ghz antennae being used?  Yes How many per unit?  1 – 2
Are they connected to the correct radio?  Yes             What type of antennaes? AIR-ANT5135D-R
    3.  What are the walls of the warehouses made out of?  Concrete
    4.  Are there any electric motors? Just forklifts
    5.  Are the APs above or below the level of the shelves? Above
    6.  Was a Wireless Site Survey conducted before and after the APs were installed?  No
    7.  Is the WLC's Radio Resources Meter set to it's default level? ????  We are not sure of this one yet.
    I hope this helps.
    Thank you so much!

  • Intenet bandwidth issue in Wifi

    Hi all,
We have a cisco ASA 5510, cisco 3560 switch, cisco WLC 4400, cisco 2960 switches and other CCTV recording severs in our network. Today we have upgarded the intenet speed of 50Mbps leased line. we are getting downloding speed of 50Mpbs in LAN but we are getting 22Mbps in wifi.
Also there is full drop upload speed in LAN or Wifi i.e up to  6Mbps instead of 40Mbps.
I have attached the ASA and 3560 switch configuartion.
Please help me to find out the root cause.
