Bandwidth of a 2-way-call through WAN?

Hi Everybody,
I am getting confuse about the codec and bandwidth, wish somebody could help.
By using T1, each channel contains 64Kbps for a 2-way-call, with a G.711 codec
If this 2-way-call is connected through the WAN/internet connection.
Does it consume 64kbps or 128kbps? or it depends on the type of WAN connection type?
Thanks
Sam

Take a look at the Voice Bearer Traffic Provisioning section, esspecially Table 3-10, in the SRND. G.711 at 20ms sampling rate over Ethernet without encryption or RTCP would be 85.6kbps.
Also, remember that you put bandwidth including only down to the Layer 3 overhead in CUCM's Location table while you need to include the Layer 2 overhead in the IOS Modular QoS CLI (MQC) configuration.

  • Procedure call through InstantClient 10.1.0.4 (ODBC) hangs the session

    Hello,
    The application has been made by Visual Basic 6.0 sp5, it uses MDAC 2.5. RDBMS version is 9.2, server OS Aix 5.2, client OS XP Professional SP2.
    In other ways the application is working properly, but when a user tries to start a report which calls a procedure through ODBC the following happens:
    (1) The workstation processor starts working under a permanent load of 100%.
    (2) The ODBC trace stops here:
    {? = call XXXX_YYYY.ZZZ_AAAAAAAA
    ['BB_BBBB','200511','200511','CCC',null,null,'null','null'}
    (3) The database listener trace (admin, on the server) stops here (287 rows follow which are the result of trying to start a report):

    The procedure call through ODBC is working when we use Oracle9i Client.
    So. All comments are much appreciated!
    Terho

    in addition:
    my main problem is that Oracle ODBC driver does not understand something like
    {call types.test_procedure (?, ?,,?)}
    to pass not all parameters (I whant to use default value for some of parameters)

  • H.264 doesn't seem to work... until I initiate a 3-way call

    Hello,
    I seem to have a weird problem with iChat video conferencing. As the post subject indicates--I believe iChat doesn't automatically use H.264 (at least on my configuration) in two-way video calls but does it in multi-way calls, or more specifically after a multi-way call. I discovered it by:
    1. initiating a normal 2-way call - video's rather blocky, bandwidth use ~200 both ways
    2. adding a 3rd person to the call - video even blockier, still same bandwidth usage
    3. removing the 3rd person from the call - video suddenly gets much better (compared to the initial 2-way call, not only to the 3-way call!) with the same bandwidth usage - which makes me think it's H.264 that suddenly gets activated.
    I get this with all of my iChat contacts (obviously I had them all check, I was just stunned by the sudden quality increase I got). I'm on a 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro so it's not a CPU speed issue. The only thing I can think of is that it might be due to the fact that I had migrated my system using Migration Assistant from a 12" PowerBook which might not have been H.264 capable (?) - at any rate I tried trashing iChat's .plists but to no avail.
    I'd be very grateful for any ideas...

    OK here's what the logs say--not surprisingly, it seems like the MacBook Pro is H.264 capable. What puzzles me is why iChat is looking into a "G4" file but I guess it doesn't matter much if it still finds it OK. I also tried starting a conference etc and having a look at the logs but the sheer amount of data spat out by iChat is rather daunting--is there anything specific I should be looking for?

    you have a ps cs4 license for mac and you have some way of finding your serial number.
    if yes, download an install the installation file.  if you already have the installation file, what is its name and file extension?  (eg, if it's one file, it should be a dmg file.)

  • Syncronous web service call through B2B

    Hi There,
    I am trying to do a synchronous web service call through the B2B component. Is this possible? Has anybody got this working?

    Ok the process flow is as follows (or at least how I anticipate it):
    external party (HTTP) -> B2B (httpReceiver) -> Callout (HTTP) -> OSB -> sync reply -> B2B -> external party
    I have read the section you mentioned, but was hoping to see a XML snippet of the xml posted to the httpReceiver endpoint... I have tried adding those values in the soap:header section, no effect, also tried adding it to the soap:body section and adding the payload in the payload tag, which I assume should be the correct way...
    So in other words should the payload message I post to this URL have the following layout:
    <soap:Envelope xmlns.....>
    <soap:Header/>
    <soap:Body>
    <to>MyCompany</to>
    <from>extCompany</from>
    <documentProtocolVersion>1.0</documentProtocolVersion>
    <documentTypeName>order</documentTypeName>
    <payload><...payload goes here....></payload>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>

  • Save Dialog Native calls through C++?

    I have searched through many forums but I havent been able to find the right solution for my problem. Let me describe the issue. I have been trying to port an application from Windows environment to Mac and so far there has been no issue except for selecting a folder to save files. The save dialog has been coded specific to the environment. So in windows we have a Windows specific call through C++. I have gone through Carbon/Cocoa API but havent figured out how to call it through C++. Can you please help me out figure the right way to call the Save Dialog APIs in Mac to get a folderpath?

    Hi CDA, and welcome to the Dev Forums!
    I didn't catch whether you're trying to build a Carbon app or a Cocoa app. A MFC programmer might feel more comfortable with Carbon, but as you may know, Cocoa is recommended for new OS X apps.
    In any case, I think NSSavePanel is pretty much the standard now. Have you looked over Using a Save Panel in Application File Management?
    Re a C++ interface to Cocoa, it can be well defined or invisible depending on your requirements. Xcode allows you to freely mix C++ and Obj-C in the same file. So you don't need to segregate the code unless you want to. For example, if you wished to have all your C++ code in .cpp files and all your Obj-C code in .m files, you could wrap all the code needed by NSSavePanel into a C function, then call that function from C++. But if you didn't mind commingling the code in a .mm file, you could create and use a NSSavePanel object directly from the methods of a C++ class.
    The above example may be oversimplified because if you want to use NSSavePanel, you might want to use NSWindow as well. But the mechanics of bridging C++ and Obj-C will still be the same. Take a look at Using Cocoa Functionality in a Carbon Application for more details.
    Hope that helps!

  • When will Apple put a 3-way call on FaceTime?

    I have started using my Apple devices more and more now since more of my friends and associates have started to purchase them. I use FaceTime a majority of the time and I feel as though it was missing something. That something was a 3-way call for FaceTime. I want the ability to talk to more than one friend through video chat. If they do end up putting this in one of their next updates or something this will be a big plus for their company. Please listen Apple.

    Apple doesn't read this user to user forum technical support forum. There is a way to get multiway video calls: Skype. So until Apple adds this feature there is a workaround. Skype is a generally better solution, because it works with non-Apple products also.

  • Can you initiate voice activated calls through BT Headset?

    This is the million dollar question.
    Does the iPhone 3Gs allow you to initiate voice-activated calls through a Blue Tooth Headset?
    Can anyone here who has the 3Gs verify that they can do this?

    I have the jawbone prime and also can not get the voice control to work. This was confirmed in the review over at www.mobiletechreview.com
    THIS *****!!!!
    I've been waiting a long time to have quality voice control on the iphone. Bluetooth connected voice control is the only real safe way to make a call while driving.
    How can Apple be so stupid to not include that option. It's bad enough they didn't include voice control in the iphone 3G, but not to include the simple option of using a bluetooth headset...dumb.
    It's just dumb.
    FIX THE PROBLEM APPLE!

  • 3-way call trouble - "merge calls" grayed out

    I'm having trouble merging calls when I try to do a 3-way call.  I can make the two separate calls but the "merge" button is always grayed out.  I have the service through my provider and an iPhone 4s.  Thanks for any help!

    Thanks, diesel vdub...I actually did contact the carrier and everything was a-ok on their end.  Any other suggestions?

  • Can i do a three way call using facetime?

    Can I do three way calling using facetime on my ipad??

    Hi Teach,
    Unfortunately conference calls are not an application that Facetime supports.  In my opinion, it would probably not work very well with personal Lan networks because it would require too much bandwidth, since streaming video does require quite a bit of it.  So for now, it has to be one on one.

  • Calling through Contacts not working on iPhone 4s

    I am a brand new Verizon customer, although I have had an iPhone 2G and an iPhone 4 with ATT.
    The good news is that I can finally get cell phone service in my Manhattan apartment.  The bad news (apart from the fact that I am being forced to pay for way too many more minutes than I could possibly want) is that the new phone is giving me lots of trouble making call through the contacts app.
    When I try to call someone using the contacts app, I get a message saying that I am not signed up for long distance or international calling.  This happens with regular old domestic phone numbers.  If I manually type in the number to call, it works fine.  I never had this problem with my ATT iPhones.  What gives?
    Any help will be much appreciated.

    Hello balkan,
    If you have not resolved the opportunity you were having with the contacts not listed in your sms conversations I have a suggestion.  From your device navigate to Settings>Phone>International Assist and if it is on please turn it off.  Once you make sure that feature is off return to the home screen and double tap the home button to clear the application manager then power cycle the device. Test a message and if unsuccessful dial *228 send and choose option 1 and let the phone re-program again.  When that is complete the device should populate the contact name.  You can also find assistance here  Please let me know your results.  Thank you.

  • UK calls to 0844 numbers and three way calling

    Can somebody help me please.
    Is there a Skype package available which includes calls to 0844 numbers? I am based in the UK and am due to be working on a project where i will be transferring customers through to an 0844 number to complete the process. I would also like to know if I can do three way calling on Skype when the other two callers are not on Skype but on ordinary phones.
    Thank you in advance.

    Currently there isn't a subscription that would cover calls to 0844 numbers in UK, but you can purchase Skype Credit and use it to pay for your calls.
    Keep in mind that calls to 0844 numbers are charged at higher rates:

    It is possible to make conference calls with ordinary phones.

  • Making group outside phone calls - Three Way Call...

    HI, I am a call first to someone from the UK. Then, I need to patch us into a US conference call number, so this is three way calling. All is done by outside phone calls using the Skype device through Skype credit. How does that work? Is that possible?

  • 3-way calling inconsistancies

    On occasions when my initial call is a long distance call and I attempt to select my third party call from either my recent call list or my contacts, I hear two beeps and both calls are dropped. The third party call indivdual informs me that the call rings through, but is a dead call. Immediately afterwards I can do a local 3-way call and have no problem connecting my other 2 calls!! I have found the Verizon Network to be lacking in this area.

        Hi, Johnsher-
    The 3-way calling feature can be an important feature for convenience. The CDMA antenna built into the iPhone for Verizon cannot perform 3-way calls. It would appear the local 3-way calls is a workaround, that is not commonly known of. For more info you can review the user manual online: http://bit.ly/S39FxV. Keep me posted if you have further questions.
