Bandwidth profile

I've just had a line fault repaired by BT. It was introducing so much noise on the line that my download bandwdth had been reduced to 283 Kbps.
Now that the line has been repaired how can I request BT to increase my bandwidth profile back to ~ 4 Mbps ? I do not wish to wait for 3 days for this to happen because it is so inconvenient.

  • Bandwidth profiler and publish preview to HTML?

    Really? These are no longer present? I see that it shows the swf file size history in the properties palette but its not the same nor nearly as convenient as COMMAND/B. Publish Preview swf embedded in HTML is just gone and any search I do to find out where it is brings up the new Canvas publishing abilities. How can features that have been in for a decade be taken out.

    Yanking tools out that have been in a piece of software for a decade seems like a really bad idea. I still use Flash but only for Display. Everything else is "HTML5". I upgraded to CC to check out the canvas support. The bandwidth profiler and the publish preview taken out has caused my entire workflow to change, not in a good way. Flash is already on its last leg. Adobe should be in touch with its shrunken user base. Its used for Display, Games and some video at this point. It has a much more narrow focus now. I use the bandwidth profiler 30 times a day since Display has strict file size constraints. My banners use dynamic content so I need to see them embedded in HTML so I used the publish preview function just as much.

  • Test Bandwidth Profiler Duration Only 2 Frames?

    Hey all,
    I have a Flash movie that I created, which spans 1800 frames. When I test the movie, it plays correctly. However, the bandwidth profiler only displays two frames. One where my "play" button is, and the other containing the rest of the frames. How come my bandwidth profiler is not displaying the timeline correctly? The reason I ask is because a preloader that I'm trying to use is not working. I assume it's dysfunctional because of this problem. My code should be correct because I used the same preloader and code for another Flash movie, and everything works as it should, preloader included.
    Here is a picture of what I see for my Flash movie that does not work properly: http://www.flickr.com/photos/90130393@N08/8185730489/
    Where it says, "duration," should say 1800 fr., but instead says, "2 fr." However, when I remove the instance name of my preloader, the bandwidth profiler displays everything as it should with the correct duration, but of course my preloader does not work as a consequence.
    I think this is the root of my problem that's causing my preloader to not work.

    Here it is:
    stop();
    this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, preLoad)
    function preLoad(e:Event):void{
    var total_bytes:Number = this.stage.loaderInfo.bytesTotal;
    var loaded_bytes:Number = this.stage.loaderInfo.bytesLoaded;
    preLoader.preLoaderFill.scaleX = loaded_bytes/total_bytes;
    preLoader.bytesPercent.text = Math.floor((loaded_bytes/total_bytes)*100) + "%";
    if (total_bytes==loaded_bytes){
      gotoAndStop(2);
      removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, preLoad);
    Again, I don't think the code is the problem because it works fine with another Flash movie that I made. To be frank, I'm not sure how I got the preloader to work in that movie. I really wish I remembered. Spent hours trying to figure out how to make the preloader work in the Flash movie that I'm currently working on right now. However, I've been unsuccessful. :/
    I guess I should also add that even though my preloader doesn't work, I still see the default one with the 5 continuous dots repeating.

  • Bandwidth Profiler/Simulate Download deprecated in CC ? lame

    I've been using CS6 because the Object Level Undo was deprecated in CC. Now its back in CC 2014...thanks
    I just noticed that the Bandwidth Profiler/Simulate Download/Download Settings - Options are deprecated as well.
    Really? This was necessary? These tools are quite useful and don't function the same way in Scout at all.
    I was building a timeline banner recently and noticed it was gone.
    I build all sorts of things with Flash (banners, desktop apps, iOS/Android) and when I need to do timeline animation and check my frames K size quickly, these options are awesome and handy.
    Especially the Download Settings. I use Scout for my larger more demanding applications, debugging and optimizing. Plus Scout doesn't allow you to what the bandwidth profiler settings do. Firing up Scout to check where the data peaks are for a 15 sec banner is overkill to me. Especially when the Bandwidth Profiler did its job just fine. Especially being able to go frame by frame. Its not the same at all.
    I don't know where you get your info from but removing stuff like that seems like a odd choice. These options have been in Flash as far back as I can remember. Maybe 10 years at least.
    How about allowing it to be added as an extension to Flash? Release the code in MXP/ZXP format? Then you can keep the same CC 2014 core build and let people add what they need.
    I'm sure there are lots of people that feel the same way about some of the other deprecated options.
    Is this an option?
    For now I will use Flash CS6 and Flash CC for different things.
    I love Flash but you guys really know how to annoy me.

    We all tried Scout and found it lacking the feature we want.
    What is the deal with Adobe removing useful things? I need to simulate how my file behaves under various download conditions. Why would Adobe take that away? Who treats their customers like this?

  • Multiple effects and no bandwidth profiler

    Hi
    couple of questions please.
    If I select view I expected to see the band width profiler as an option but I dont has it been moved in cs5?
    Second I've created a tex/symbol effect using the presets with the text coming in from the right.
    I now want to duplicate the text/symbol onto another layer and have that as a preset pulse animation.
    Is there a way to do this or do I have to start from scratch ie type in the text, convert to a symbol and then add the animation.
    I was then going to try to use action scripting to tell the movie to loop starting at the pulse animation.
    Is this the correct approach?
    thanks
    Ian

    Still you have the bandwidth profiler in the view.
    Copy and paste the frames, select the layer put Ctl+Alt+C and paste the effect Ctl+Alt+V in a layer. then swap the symbol that you want.

  • Confused about Bandwidth Profiler - what's it telling me?

    Hi All,
    I'm confused about the bandwidth profiler. I have two
    different SWF
    files, both are profiled for 56K modem. One file is 253K, 150
    x 260 px,
    599 frames @ 10fr/sec showing a preload of 96 frames (9.6 s),
    frame 1 is
    45K. The other is 197K, 800 x 150 px, 1009 frames @ 12fr/sec
    showing a
    preload of 484 frames (40.3 s), frame 1 is 189K. Why does the
    preload
    for the smaller file take 40.3 sec. while the larger file is
    only 9.6
    sec.? And what does preload mean? It appears to indicate how
    long it
    will take to download frame 1, is that correct? Why is the
    Frame 1 size
    so different between the two? And why does the smaller file
    size have a
    much larger frame 1 size. I just don't see why a smaller file
    should
    take longer to load than a larger file.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    preloaders preload all frames - usually a percentage -
    unfortunately most developers make you wait
    until 100% of the movie (all frames/content) is loaded when,
    if built correctly, only a much smaller
    percentage needs to be loaded before playing. Sounds like one
    of your movies has embedded fonts or
    objects set for export on frame 1 (like components) and they
    all have to loaded first (before frame
    1 actually) because flash doesn't know where in your movie
    they are located.

  • Preloader/bandwidth profiler question

    Hello. I have created a fairly small movie (94k). I have put
    a preloader (only) in the first two frames. However, when I
    simulate the download, I see that the profiler shows 50k in the
    first frame. Also, the preloader does not appear until it says
    about 60% (I presume after that 50k has already loaded). The
    problem is, there is really nothing but the simple drawing of a
    preloader bar in the first 2-frames. I would like the first frame
    of the movie to immediately open up, show the preloader, and begin
    at around 1% loaded.
    I should point out that the entire timeline for the .fla has
    been appropriately moved to the 3rd frame. So, there is nothing in
    the first 2 frames, other than the loader bar and the actionscript.
    The loader bar is nothing more than a rectangle drawn with flash;
    about 200px x 15 px and a dynamic text field. That's it.
    Here is my preloader code, 1st and 2nd frames, respectively.

    Never mind. I figured it out. I had an after market "movie
    enhancer" attached to a simple external .swf.
    Once I removed that, all was well with the world once
    again.

  • Question Regarding QoS and Firewalls Rules

    Hello experts, I hope a simple question for you today. I am working to elevate our outdated H323 traffic down a VPN tunnel we are only getting 600k throughput on.
    Under "Networking --> QOS --> WAN QOS" I have configured the downstream and upstream bandwidth rates using the 85% rule. I have also created a bandwidth profile called VOIP using 128-256kbps with a priority of "High"
    Under "Traffic Selector" I have created the profile using the VLAN 100 for the IP phones with the VOIP bandwidth profile.
    My question, is this the correct configuration and I'm done? Or do I need to go further and create the same IPv4 rules in the firewall rules giving it a QoS Priority of "Minimize Delay"
    Is there a way in SA540 to see the QOS statistics to see if they are working correctly?  I appreciate your input as always experts!!

    It's about the relevance of the link. Some will post a vague link to the SAP help that adds no value to anyone trying to find the answer to the question, whereas a targeted link to a - possibly difficult to find - page can be very useful.
    It's a bit of a subjective thing, example:
    A detailed question asks about technical info behind assigning a cost center to an organizational unit in the org chart.
    A reply such as:
    Check [this link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/0b/dfba3692dc635ce10000009b38f839/frameset.htm].
    Is just wasting everyone's time. Unfortunately we see a lot of these, people seem to think it's a quick way of getting cheap points but it just frustrates everyone else.
    Asimilar answer can however be very useful if it contains a targeted link that relates directly to the question, e.g.
    See the help on [account assignment infotypes|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/bb/bdb2b6575911d189240000e8323d3a/frameset.htm].
    However a generic link as per my first example as part of a detailed explanation with a comment of "further info can be found over here" is a good post since the purpose of the link it more for convenience or reference info in addition to the answer in the post.
    Hope that helps,
    Mike

  • "Export classes in frame x" in AS3: how does it work?

    My steps:
    1. I have some beefy classes
    2. I want my SWF to show a preload anim while it loads these
    classes
    3. Using the "Export classes in frame: " option, I move my
    classes to frame 10
    4. I put a stop(); on the first frame and test w/ the
    bandwidth profiler visible.
    Desired + expected behavior:
    1. My preloader spins, and I have minimal K on the first
    frame and then the main hit on the chosen export frame.
    Observed behavior:
    1. all of my classes are available on the first frame (ala,
    all of my logic can be performed on the first frame, even though
    the framehead is sitting firmly on frame 1)
    2. there is still a spike in K on the output frame
    Notes:
    - am I just missing the point here? Is this how it always
    worked?
    - why is the Document Class available in the first frame? Is
    this mandatory w/ the new structure?

  • Please help!! Can't find "simulate download" in flash cs4 educ. edition

    Hi there,
    Would someone pls help me on this one?  I have the education edition of CS4 Flash pro and I can't find the simulate download/bandwidth profiler anywhere in the "View" menu where it is supposed to live.  Is it hidden somewhere, or is it not included in my version?  I thought the only difference between the education edition and the retail was the licensing.
    I have been searching for days for an answer and it makes testing my preloader very difficult.
    Thanks for any help

    Wow, i feel embarassed.  That was it!! Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

  • Beginner Question re: SWF files and FLA files

    Hi,
    Im new to flash. I have some templates (in FLA format with all supporting files...xml; html; and the swf file). When using html templates, I can modify the content easily by simply adding or changing the text <p>original text</p> to <p>steve custom text</p> and so on.
    My issue is Im trying to modify the content of the fla files into a new swf file but do not know how to access the text, background or images the tempalte is currently producing. The timeline at the bottom doesnt show objects and their timelines like the basic tutorials show me.
    Is there a way to access the content of of an fla file or perhaps the content of an swf file? I think the swf file is like a jpeg coverted from RAW, meaning its the end product and the source file is where the modify is done.
    Am I swimming in the deep with sharks?
    Thanks!

    hmm..so if the template ive downloaded depicts a green ball bouncing across an orange  background(swf file). The objects (green ball) and the background (simply overlay colored orange) is embedded into the FLA AS3 code?
    not necessarily.  they could be created with code, they could be created with the tools in the fla and they could be loaded bitmaps.
    To be clear these objects (in my example: ball and background) are not external jpegs (or similar file type like png) which I can open, edit, then allow the code to access and utilize the new object. For example, change the ball into a square and changes it color to purple and then change the background to pink via PS or illstr.
    In short, Im having trouble trying to find the objects which are being manipulated by the code. My current perspective with templates is to modify the image or text by accessing the files delivered with the template. If the .html commands to place image221.jpeg in certain div, I would just open the images files, find image221.jpeg, modifiy the image and then save it as image221.jpeg. Of course I can create a new image save it as steve123.jpeg, save it to the images folder and then modify the code to access the new file by using its new name.
    This is what Im trying to accomplish with my flash template but cant find the source objects .
    Im getting the impression this cant be done.
    that's almost certainly incorrect.
    My final question is then, where are source images or text or movie files stored?
    noone can say without direct inspection.
    Is it possible they are on third party servers on the web?
    no
    Are they imbedded in the code?
    maybe yes, maybe no.
    I can only assume if they are stored on my drives (in an external format) that I would be able to access them.
    correct.  more specifically, they would have to be in the directory with your embedding html and swf or a subdirectory.
    If however, they are on a a third part web site or embedded into the code, then I may be in way over my head.
    you can assume this is not the case.
    so, open the fla in flash.  click control/test.  click view and make sure bandwidth profiler and streaming graph are checked.  you should then be able to see the main timeline as the swf plays.  note the main timeline frame where you see the object(s) you want to edit.
    close the test environment and go to that main timeline frame and start sleuthing to see if the objects were created in flash.  you can also click on the first object in the library and arrow down looking for the object(s) you want to edit to see if they were created without code.  if you find them, note their library name and possibly linkage id or class.  use movie explorer to search for those names.
    but, to be sure, it can be very difficult to edit templates.  i've not seen one yet that was made by a competent developer and i've worked on dozens of them.

  • Buttons interfering with animation

    I am modifying a Flash 8 movie. The fla can be downloaded
    here:
    www.cjreynolds.com/fuda.html
    There is a movie clip in the fla called "page1" with a text
    box with six menu items (Fuda Sushi, Fuda Maki, etc.). When the swf
    is run, each item has a carat charactor to the left that moves
    further left when the menu item is moused over, and stays there
    until the mouse leaves. I have added a "button" (movie clip called
    "japon_but") to each item. When I attach a mouse-release code to
    the buttons, the carat no longer stays left when moused over.
    To see the effect, test the movie, go to "Cuisine Japonaise",
    and mouse over and stay over each menu item - the first two have
    mouse-release code added, and you can see that the carats beside
    these items act different from the botton four.
    I've tried locking and hiding the button layers, and tried
    moving the layers below the text box layer, nothing changes. Am I
    doing something wrong?
    I can't find what triggers the carats to move on mouse-over,
    or I would just add the mouse-release code to that object or
    frame...
    Any suggestions?
    joe

    To figure out where those buttons were located, I ran "Test
    Movie" (CTRL+Enter) and the hit CTRL+B to see the bandwidth
    profiler. Not the frame number in the bandwidth profiler when you
    get to the section with the menu you are talking about.
    Then go to that frame number on the timeline. There is a
    large movieclip there that contains everything on that page. Its
    instance name is "page1". Double-click on that. Now you're inside
    that page and you see the menu, right? The menu is just text and
    then instances of the movieclip "arr2_main" which are doing the
    button actions. You cannot see them in the final movie but they are
    the ones doing the work. The text is merely sitting under the
    buttons for visual reference.
    So the best thing for you to do is mimic what they did. In
    the text field, add a new line of type for your new item. You may
    have to reposition the field now to center it but make sure you
    repositions all the instance of the movieclips acting as buttons
    too or they will not work. Then copy an instance of "arr2_main",
    create a new layer above the topmost arr2_main layer, create a new
    keyframe in the appropriate frame and paste your new instance. Then
    copy and paste the code that is applied to the other buttons but
    change the destination.

  • Preloader Not Displaying In Simulate Download - White Screen

    Hello:
    I followed a tutorial on gotoandlearn.com and followed it to a "T," yet cannot troubleshoot this myself. I built a simple preloader in AS2, but when I simulate the download for a Flash website in Adobe Flash CS4, all I see is a white screen, then it continues to the website. I previewed the bandwidth profile and I can see that it's working it's preloading magic; I just can't see the animation.
    I looked through numerous forums and I am not using an components that are exported to the first frame -- at least that I know of. Has anyone experienced the same issue?
    My set up is the following (from Lee's tutorial):
    First Keyframe (action):
    var amountloaded:Number = _root.getBytesLoaded()/_root.getBytesTotal();
    preload._width = amountLoaded * 190;
    loadText.text = Math.round(amountLoaded * 100) + "%";
    Second Keyframe (action):
    if(_root.getBytesLoaded() == _root.getBytesTotal())  {
    gotoAndPlay(3);
    else {
    gotoAndPlay(1);
    Third Keyframe:
    stop();
    Any thoughts? Thanks!

    I'm still seeing a white screen
    I changed my code as you said to:
    Keyframe 1 (actions):
    var amountloaded:Number = _root.getBytesLoaded()/_root.getBytesTotal();
    preload._width = amountLoaded * 190;
    loadText.text = Math.round(amountLoaded * 100) + "%";
    Keyframe 3 (actions):
    if(_root.getBytesLoaded() == _root.getBytesTotal())  {
    gotoAndPlay(5);
    else {
    gotoAndPlay(1);
    Keyframe 5 (actions):
    stop();
    Also, what's NaN%? I'm not able to view the progress bar at all, because all I see is white, but I navigated through my site and accidentally returned to frame 1, and the progress bar read "NaN%."

  • Embedded Fonts on Dynamic Label Component

    I am working on a project that calls for multiple label
    components to be dynamically rendered based on a selected comboBox
    selectedItem. The comboBox is a choice of fonts available to the
    user - all of which are embedded fonts. For some reason, the fonts
    are not embedding correctly for systems that do not have the font
    on the system.
    I have added the fonts to the library and selected "Export to
    ActionScript" as well as "Export in First Frame" (although I want
    to preload these later once this issue is resolved). In my steps to
    simplify and solve, I created a basic movie with a label on the
    stage with an instance name of "label0".
    In my Actions frame, I use the following code:
    label0.text = "This is a font test";
    label0.setStyle("fontFamily", "Vivaldi");
    label0.setStyle("fontSize", "40");
    label0.setStyle("embedFonts", "true");
    I have seen examples on the web where someone uses
    label0.embedFonts = true; but that doesn't seem to work either. I
    have also tried various fonts to verify the font will embed.
    Thinking I may not be embedding it correctly, I checked the
    bandwidth profiler and variables list and the size goes up after I
    try to embed the font as well as the label0 variables correctly
    show embedFonts = true as well as the fontFamily is set to Vivaldi
    (sample).
    Many people have used Dynamic Text Fields but I need to use a
    Label so I can use the autoSize feature as users are allowed to
    choose their own font size (between 10pt and 40pt). The label
    component seems to be the right option for me with the exception of
    the font selection. To be safe, I added a dynamic text field and
    embedded the fonts there as well and hid it off stage. When viewing
    it on another system, the dynamic text field worked (poorly) but it
    showed the font. The label did not show the correct font.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Yes, when I set label0.setStyle("fontSize", "40"); the size
    changes for both systems (the one that has the font installed as
    well as the one that doesn't). On the system that doesn't have the
    font, it appears as a Times New Roman font in large type.

    If it shows via the spotlight search screen then you could try closing the Videos app completely and see if it shows in the app when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Videos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
