Hi,
I have ECC 6.0 system on windows. I need connectivity from remote locations to central office where SAP server resides.
How to calculate bandwidth requirement for accessing SAP via SAPGUI from Remote locations?
Regards,
Nirav.Hello,
please refer to the [Front-end Network Requirements for SAP Solutions|http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700003943521999E] document.
(The navigation path on Service MarketPlace would be http://service.sap.com/sizing > Sizing Guidelines > Solutions & Platforms, then search for the title above).

Server CAL License for SAP Server
Hi
Do we need Windows Server CAL for SAP Server, as we have Server 2008 R2 for our SAP Server.
Please guide.
Regards
Ajay GoelHi Wee,
By definition every device connecting to a Windows server needs a CAL. However, neither the OS nor the SAP system "counts" them.
Depending on which kind of clients you have (Windows XP/Vista OEM, Volume licenses etc.) you have a CAL included.
So based on SAP users created and other users required in your landscape , you may procure respective CALS.
Hope this helps.

Bandwidth required for Peoplesoft
Hi,
We are doing sizing in terms of the bandwidth required for peoplesoft v9.0. The server is going to be based in a central location. It is my understanding that Self service and GP would be the most bandwidth consuming modules. GPl would be run from a central location and all employees who will be spread over different geographical locations would have access to Self Service. Do you have any idea of what the minimum bandwidth required would be in this case? I understand that Peoplesoft is PIA but there will be some minimum bandwidth requirement for good performance. I would appreciate any input in this regard, even rough estimates or past experiences will be really helpful. ThanksI don't have any solid tcp/ip numbers for you. Most of the network traffic is between the web, app, and database servers. If your users can browse the web (MSN, Google, etc) from their location without complaints, they will be able to use PeopleSoft. If you turn on gzip compression in your web profile, that will help a lot. Most of the PeopleSoft JavaScript, CSS, and images are stored as external files so they benefit from client side browser cache. Once a user loads a page, all that will travel back and forth is the HTML that comprises the page itself. Yes, the HTML is a bit bloated as it is based on the HTML design model from several years ago (lots of tables for formatting). A FieldChange, button click, or save will reload the entire page.
Are your users going to be using 56k modems or something better? Really, latency is probably more important than bandwidth in this case.
PeopleSoft doesn't maintain a persistent connection between the web server and browser, so I'm not sure that distance is really an issue.
Just to give you some rough numbers, with JavaScripts, etc in my browser cache, the contents of the Timesheet page is 39k without gzip compression and 6k with gzip compression. So, with gzip compression turned on, you should get much better use of your bandwidth. -
System requirements for SAP Netweaver
Hi All
I would like to know the system requirements for SAP Netweaver installation on server.
Thanks in advance
VenkatHi Venkat,
Typically for EP it would be :
On Windows:
2 GR RAM,with 30-40GB HD,and with latest Windows SP`s and latest IE.
If the server is for Production incease the RAM accordingly.
For Portal RAM is very crucial,as SAPJ2EE Engine uses lot of RAM.
I hope this helps.
If yes,do award points.

(Deployment) Minimum Software required for BUILD server and IIS WebServer
We have a simple .Net SDK application written using VB-2005 and the Crystal Reports XI (R2) DEVELOPER package.
The RPT files are posted on our BOE-XI (R2) server, and are called using the View-On-Demand method from the Page Server (similar to the SDK sample application). At some point in the future, our .Net applications may invoke some of the other SDK content types.
In our environment, the .NET web-applications are checked-in to Clear Case, and then sent to a stand-alone BUILD server to be compiled. The compiled .NET web-applications are then posted to a stand-alone IIS WebServer (not the IIS server that hosts BOE InfoView/CMC).
The BUILD server and IIS WebServer have to be as "stripped-down" as possible in order to go through our QAT and Impact Analysis process.
So far we have had success if we deploy the SDK-only install from the Crystal Reports XI (R2) DEVELOPER package, and the service packs, but it doesn't include all the SDK components for other BOE content types.
If we deploy the Client-only install from the BOE-XI (R2) package, and the service packs - it doesn't seem to include the CR-Viewer which we need. But it does includes a bunch of extra software (eg. UNIVERSE DESIGNER) on the desktop of the BUILD server and IIS WebServer that our QA guys don't like.
What are the Minimum Software required for BUILD server and IIS WebServer to support CR and BOE SDKs...?
Are there any install packages that contain JUST those components, and not all the extra software that is not needed to Build/Deploy in .NET...?
Thanks in advance for the advice.Due to the CrystalDecisions.web.dll for the 2.0 framework being left off the BOE CD you will need to install the Crystal XI R2 runtimes as well as the BOE SDK.
To get the BOE SDK launch the Enterprise XI R2 installer and choose Server Install - not Client Install. Choose a Custom install. You'll be presented with a drop down list for the Enterprise components. Deselect everything and then look for the Developer Components option. You may have to drill down into one of the levels to find it. Under Developer Components you'll see the BusinessObjects Enterprise .NET SDK. Select it to install it.

What are the essential services that are required for ensuring server is healthy up ?
Hi All,
Please advise me What are the essential services that are required for ensuring server is healthy up ?
Warm regards,
jk1510The easiest way to find the Health report of server or workstation follow the below steps which is very much easiest way to get it done
There are a few ways to find this in Windows Server 2008.
First click “Start” and type “Generate a system health report”
Or second navigate your way to the Control Panel choose “System and Security” and choose “Generate a system health report”.
The last is to type “Generate a system health report” into the “Search Control Panel” box in the upper right hand corner of the Control Panel window.
Once armed with this data it’s easier to refute or acknowledge an issue is at hand.
BTW if you’re looking for this same thing in Windows 7 it’s there just buried a bit more.
Search Performance in the Start Menu, choose “Performance Information and Tools”, click “Advanced Tools” from the menu on the left, and finally choose “Generate a system
health report”.

HI,
Can any one help me,
I am planning to install project server 2013, what are the service applications and Services ( Manage services on server in central admin ) in sharepoint are required for project server 2013 to work fine, so that i will run only service
application and services to increase server performance..i don't want to configure all service applications when i am configuring.
Thanks in Advance..
vijay kommireddiHi Vijay,
If you are installing Project Server on SharePoint farm, You need to start the service Project Application Service which would be available after you install project Server 2013.
For Project Server Reporting you need to start Excel service and Secure Store service.

Requirements for managing Server Core
Hello,
What are the requirements for managing Server Core? We have a Windows 2008 functional level forest and domain and were thinking about installing 2012 server core servers but weren't sure we'd be able to manage them with 2008 server or Windows 7 tools.
Thanks,
RobertHi Robert,
To remotely manage a server in server core mode, we can use the following ways:
Remotely using Windows PowerShell
Remotely using Server Manager
Remotely using an MMC snap-in
Remotely with Remote Desktop Services
However, we can’t use server manager in Windows Server 2008 or in RSAT for Windows 7 to remotely manage Windows Server 2012 in server core mode. To
use server manager to remotely manage Windows Server 2012 in server core mode, we must use the version of Server Manager in Windows Server 2012 or that is available as part of the Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 8 download package.
Regarding how to manage a Windows Server 2012 in server core mode, the following articles can be referred to for more information.
