Bandwidth required with new SAP GUi

Hey all,
I am trying to find out what is the bandwidth required for each user for each session for SAP GUI 7.0. With the old SAP GUI 620, we had 3 KB per user per session required.
Thanks in advance.
Laura

Hi Laura,
there shouldn't be very much difference. The [Sizing Guide "Front-End network requirements for SAP Business Solutions"|http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700003943521999E] doesn't mention any version dependent values.

  • WebDynpro with embedded SAP GUI for HTML transaction

    Hello,
    I have been given a requirement for a WebDynpro application that will have some links and figures at the top and underneath that there will be a SAP GUI for HTML transaction visible. What is the best method for handling this type of scenario? This is a 7.0 portal connecting to ECC 5.0 on the back-end.
    Thanks,
    Bert

    Hello Bert,
    I would have implemented your scenario in following way:
    1. Create a transaction iView in portal using SAP GUI for HTML.
    2. In the web dynpro application, you have multiple choices to use the transaction iview created in above step.
             a. Use a IFrame UI element giving it the portal based url for the transaction iview
             b. Use POrtal Navigation API to navigate to the transaction iview.
             WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute(
             "ROLES://portal_content/com.sap.PageNavigationProject/com.sap.TargetPage",
                WDPortalNavigationMode.SHOW_INPLACE,
                (String) null,
                (String) null,
                WDPortalNavigationHistoryMode.NO_DUPLICATIONS,
                (String) null,

    Hope this helps you.

  • New SAP GUI Patches

    Hi,
    a couple of new patches were posted to ftp.sap.com :
    - SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 Patch 15
    - SAP BW 3.5 AddOn Patch 7
    - SAP GUI 6.40 - ECL Viewer Patch 2
    Best regards,

    Hi John,
    short update: I talked to the service market place team, and unfortunately the software corner is not a standard SMP site, so the nice features you know from other pages are not available, and won't be in the near future.
    I will post news about new patches here, but as mentioned this is not part of the official workflow and may not always happen, for example when I'm on vacation

  • Upload a new SAP GUI Logo.

    Hi,
    I'm trying uploading a Logo of a company in SAP GUI but without success.
    I follow the following link to perform that:
    http://www.sap-img.com/basis/changing-the-sapgui-logo-on-the-right-hand-side.htm
    It seems the clients are locked.
    When I execute trx SMW0, settings, maintain MIME types, I cannot see the "create" button.
    How do I have to configure the client?
    Best regards

    Hi,
    for performing that activity in SPRO, SAP NetWeaver, SAP Web Application Server, System administration, Change & Transport System, Configure clients the following parameter must be set as follows:
    - Changes and Transports for Client-Specific Objects = different from No changes allowed;
    - Cross-Client Object Changes = Changes to Repository and cross-client customizing allowed;
    - Protection: Client Copier and Comparison Tool = Protection Level 0: No restriction.

  • Display Software Required with New Mac/OS?

    I just wondered whether the 30" display software that comes on CD with the screen (dated 2005) is required on a new 8 core MacPro with OS 10.4.9, or is the software support built-in to the system now?

    Any 2005 software would be from before Apple started using Intel chips, so wouldn't be for the Mac Pro, anyway. Just use the software included in OSX.

  • SAP Gui 730 issue with crobu theme

    Hello Frineds, Our developer team is facing some strange issue. They are able using corbu theme in SAP GUI 720. but after the new SAP GUI 730 implementaion, they are not able to use this theme. Checked all the notes etc, but its not clear on themes part.  Any one faced this kind of issue or any suggestions. Thanks in advance. Regards Munish

    Hi Munish,
    Can you raise this in ABAP community ?
    Also, to help you further can you drill down to some more relevant information ?
    As far as one can understand, it's a rendering problem with SAP GUI 730.
    This can also be compatibility issue with your kernel and application.
    I would suggested you to check all above options.
    Regards,

  • Help with SAP GUI on Trial VMWare Edition

    I currently have a trial version of NetWeaver installed (SAP NetWeaver 7.0.1 Java + ABAP Trial VMWare Edition), but having problems getting the GUI to work.  The VM is using GNOME 2.12.2.
    I'm currently having trouble with SAP GUI.  According to SAP help, a requirement to run SAP GUI for HTML is Windows NT 4.0.  Since I'm using GNOME, I tried to get the Java version to work.
    When I try to launch SAP GUI, it gives me the following error:
    http://i.imgur.com/0ZBVI.png
    I wasn't able to troubleshoot the error, so I'm in the process of uninstalling this version of SAP GUI, and try installing again.  However, I'm having trouble performing the uninstall.  I did some reading, and it says to either run the SAPsweep.exe utility or NWSapSetup.exe.  But I can't find either of them on my machine (tried doing a system search, no luck).
    I found this thread to be helpful: Re: sapsweep.exe for SAPGUI 7.10 ?, but I'm not running on Windows.
    Thanks in advance for any input

    Hello Anoop.
    The error occurs because you have selected OLE DB for OLAP Provider in the Business Explorer selection.
    You can tell this from the following line in your sapsetup
    00:43:58 NwSapsAtlC  1W  Marking package SAPGUI_7.30 ({57F4A687-AE41-4BEA-9553-F852C36F8C1E}) as disabled: selected node OLE DB for OLAP Provider ({5390360A-98D9-4377-BD41-9A147392D000}) has failing condition.
    Since you don't have Office installed,you cannot use the Business Explorer modules.
    Run the installation again only selecting the components you require.

  • An issue using the COM components supplied with SAP GUI 6.2 or 6.4

    We are having an issue using the COM components supplied with SAP GUI 6.2 or 6.4.  We used to have SAP 4.6c and now we have 5.0.  When we were on 4.6c, we used these COM components to logon and execute RFC calls and we had much success.  Now that we are on 5.0, we can’t seem to instance any SAP functions that have something to do with SAP Workflow.  We have experienced this problem when using VB6 or .NET, but our existing code that always worked is in VB 6.0.
    SAP Components used:
    o     SAP Logon Control
    o     SAP Function Control
    o     Librfc32.dll
    o     Other supporting C DLLs and/or COM object supplied with the SAP GUI installation.
    For example, if we want to call the RFC ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT, this code fails in VB6 when the “Set objworkflow = objFuncCtrl.Add(strFunction)” line of code executes.  Instead of returning an instance of the object ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT function, no object is created.  In 6.2, SAP raises no errors, but the object we are trying to create is still “Nothing”.  If we use 6.4, SAP raises an error “SAP data type not supported” via a message box and then the object is still = Nothing.  Interestingly enough, the 6.2 GUI COM controls don’t display the error dialog.  The message box that is shown comes from the SAP Function COM Object "SAP.Functions" (wdtfuncs.ocx).
    Now, what is interesting is if we use the same code to call a standard function or custom function that doesn’t have anything to do with SAP Workflow, then the code works fine.  Again, all of our code used to work just fine on an SAP 4.6 system.
    Here is the code that fails:
        'SAP Logon control - object for creating connections to an SAP system
        Dim objSAPLogonCtrl As Object
        'SAP connection object
        Dim objConnection As Object
        'Object that will represent the SAP function called
        Dim objSAP As Object
        'SAP function control object - object factory for creating other SAP function objects
        Dim objFuncCtrl As Object
        'Create instance of an SAP logon conrol
        Set objSAPLogonCtrl = CreateObject("SAP.Logoncontrol.1")
        'Create a connection object
        Set objConnection = objSAPLogonCtrl.NewConnection
        'Define connecion parameters
        objConnection.ApplicationServer = "sapvm"
        objConnection.SystemNumber = "00"
        objConnection.Client = "800"
        objConnection.User = "iissap"
        objConnection.Password = "tstadm"
        objConnection.Language = "E"
        objConnection.TraceLevel = 10
        'call the logon method of the connection object
        If objConnection.Logon(0, True) = False Then
            MsgBox Error
            Exit Sub
        End If
        'Create an instance of the SAP Function control object
        Set objFuncCtrl = CreateObject("SAP.Functions")
        'Set the function control connection object
        Set objFuncCtrl.Connection = objConnection
        'Function name to be generated and called
        Dim strFunction As String
        strFunction = <b>"ARCHIV_PROCESS_RFCINPUT"</b>
        'Create an instance of the function defined in strFunction
        Set objworkflow = objFuncCtrl.Add(strFunction)
        If objworkflow Is Nothing Then
            MsgBox "Could not create object " & strFunction
        Else
            MsgBox strFunction & " object created."
        End If
    If anyone has seen anything like this or has any ideas, please help!

  • Writing files in your local hard disk with SAP GUI for HTML

    Hello SAP Experts
    We have a problem with the SAP GUI for HTML, we create a program in ABAP that writes a file into your local machine, and it works just fine when we test it directly in the SAP GUI for Windows, but if we use the SAP GUI for HTML implementend in a SAP Portal 7.0 the same program doesn't run, it just freeze in the moment that the program must create the file, so my question is if it's possible to use that functionality in the GUI HTML, or do you have another suggestion???
    Thanks a lot,
    Ricardo Pineda

    Thank you experts,
    Your answers have been really helpfull, we have to try another method, by Studio Program or ABAP code, unfortunely we have to implement this in so many computers, so is impossible to configure one by one.
    Thanks to both, and have a nice 2009!

  • ALV GRID  and Integrated ITS 7 (SAP GUI for HTML) - dissapears on reload

    Hi All,
    We have a custom report that uses an ALV grid to display information to the user. Within this grid, there are fields that are display only and fields that are editable. Also, the grid is wider than the screen's width. It works fine in ECC. It also worked fine when we were using ITS 6.4.
    We have recently upgraded to ITS 7. Now when we run the report using a Transaction iView (in EP 7) or the Webgui service (SAP GUI for HTML), if a field that is editable has focus when an event is triggered that reloads the grid, the screen becomes blank. So, you can click the Save button and the screen goes blank, also, there are date fields in the grid and if you choose a new date, the grid reloads and the screen becomes blank.
    We have found that when the screen is blank, you can use the "Page Up" button on your keyboard and the last few columns of the grid will appear. As if the entire grid has moved off-screen to the left.
    If you click onto a non-editable field and refresh or save, the grid returns to its normal state.
    We are on Basis Patch level 15.
    Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
    Also, does anyone know of a standard SAP transaction we can call from the Webgui that would have a similar setup...with an ALV grid containing editable and non-editable fields? We would like to rule out any errors in the report itself. Since it worked before we upgraded and it works fine in ECC. This would be a really big help too.
    Thank you so much!
    -Kevin

    Hi,
    Thanks Raymond, I have seen Note 314568. I could not get the second link to work but I have looked at just about every Note in reference to Integrated ITS 7 and Tables or ALV Grids and there are very many, so it would appear that SAP has had a hard time with implementing this control, but I have not seen any instance that matches the problem we are having.
    Unfortunately, SAP will not investigate this unless we can provide a standard Transaction that exhibits the same behavior.
    If anyone knows of a standard SAP Transaction that displays an ALV Grid that is wider than the screen (requiring a horizontal scroll bar) and with editable and non-editable fields, that would be fantastic. If we can test against that, then we would know for sure if this is a problem with ITS / SAP GUI for HTML, or if there is an issue with this specific report.
    Thanks!

    With this the NwSapSetup.log ends with:
    16:26:23 NwSapSetup 1 Return-Code: 145
    In the next logical step within our environment a uninstallation of the SAP GUI gets started:
       Commandline:
    '"C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SapSetup\Setup\NWSapSetup.exe"  /Silent /Uninstall /Package=PEACY'
    This operation gets done with:
    12:35:47 NwSapSetup 1 Return-Code: 0
    After that the installation of the SAP GUI gets started again with:
       Commandline:        '"C:\peacy.sys\source\SAPGUI730PL8\source\setup\NwSapSetup.exe"  /noDLG /norestart /Package=PEACY'
    Now the Installation gets done with:
    12:52:12 NwSapSetup 1 Return-Code: 0
    Every first installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 is affected. This is a cross-platform issue (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1). If there was our older package version (SAP GUI 7.30 PL4) installed, the installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 gets done without problems.
    Every new client with the SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 assigned or the re-installation of it, and every first installation of the package on a client without SAP GUI leads to the mentioned issue - package gets installed with the mentioned error, afterwards the uninstallation gets started by our environment and finally the installation gets done with the second try. This is not a practicable method for our support staff.
    Are there any hints how to resolve this issue. (A upgrade to the newest patch level of SAP GUI is not a practicable solution)
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards
    Christian

    Hello Christian,
    For older releases of the SAP GUI client a good approach is to create package for uninstalling old SAP GUI.  Depending on the state of the old SAP GUI's you're upgrading those may not be "clean" enough to warrant upgrading in place.
    The older GUI's have component's no longer provided with the newer releases so most recommendations are to uninstall completely an do a fresh installation.
    I credit Matt Fraser for this information and suggest reading his documentation.  The last 4 articles are germane to you're situation.  I hope this helps you.

  • Export SAP GUI Logon system properites to another laptop

    Hi, SDN Fellows.
    I want to run SAP GUI logon systems in another laptop. After installing a new SAP GUI client. Instead of re-add the logon system properties, is that a way I can export and import from another laptop? Say I have 10 logon system properties (some with application server and some with logon groups), how do I pick the 8 of 10, and export to another SAP GUI in another laptop?
    Thanks,
