Bank account charged even with gift card credit on account?

I redeemed a gift card and then bought a few apps, but my bank account was still charged. What's up with that?

You weren't by change purchasing gifts for someone else? Those can't be purchased with a gift card. If you were buying for yourself, the iTunes Store showed a balance sufficient to cover the cost of the purchases, but your credit card still was charged, go here:
iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • HT2731 How do I set up an Apple ID for a child with gift card credit

How do I set up an Apple ID for a chld with a gift card credit, without credit card details and without using my own account?

Go to the main iTunes Store page (within iTunes),  click on the "Redeem" link on the right side of the page, click "Create Apple ID", and enter in the code from your card when requested. You should be able to create an iTunes Store account for your child without needing a credit card. You'll just need an email address for him/her to create the ID, though it can be a "temporary" one that you don't intend to really be used. You can change the email address to which receipts are sent to an account you really wish to use.

i want to change my billing country but cannot because I used a gift card and  : "you have a store credit balance; you must spend your balance before you can change stores".  Now, I already TRIED to zero my balance, but got to such a small amount I could not find anything at that value.  How can I zero my acount, or transfer the credit?

  • Using Gift Card Credit before CC?

A while back I got me a iTunes gift card, and I purchased some albums with the credit with no problems. Now I have about $6 left on it, and I want to buy one album that costs $9.99. Is there a way to charge the remaining gift card credit to the purchase and pay the remainder with a regular CC? I've played around with the account settings, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this.
    Any help is appreciated.

You shouldn't have to do anything special at all, assuming your credit card information is valid. Just buy the album; the iTunes Store should automatically pull the remaining balance from your gift card and charge the rest of the price of your album to your credit card. That's the way it's always worked for me.

    Hi judifrom!
I have some links for you that can help shed some light on the subject of gifting through iTunes and Apple IDs. The first can be found in this link:
    Gifting - Apple Store (U.S.)
    http://store.apple.com/us/help/gifting
and the relevant information in that link can be found right here:
Gift Cards and Certificates are valid for use only in the country in which they were purchased. Only residents of the U.S may redeem gift certificates purchased in the U.S.
You can still help them set up an Apple ID without payment information so that they can download free items through the iTunes store though. The steps for performing that can be found in the following article:

  • Credit card charged rather than iTunes gift card credit taken. How do I correct payment method?

A friend recently gave me an iTunes card which I credited to my iTunes account. I've just downloaded a movie and wanted to use the credit from my card to pay for this. Instead iTunes appears to have charged my credit card rather than using the existing credit in my account. Is there any way to correct this so that the payment can be made with the iTunes card instead? Thank

Assuming you were not buying a gift for someone else - gifts cannot be purchased using a credit balance - another user in the forums posted this as the reply from the iTunes Store when this issue was brought up. Perhaps it will help you. If problems persist, contact the iTunes Store:
    http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
    Regards.
I'm sorry you weren't able to make a purchase using your store credit. To purchase items on the iTunes Store with your store credit, your account information in your user profile needs to be corrected. I'll walk you through this process to get you back up and running in no time.
    1) Visit the My Apple ID website at:  http://appleid.apple.com
    2) If the site is not displayed in your preferred language, click the Change Language link in the upper-right corner, type the name of your language in the field that appears, then click the Save button.
    3) Click the "Manage your account" link.
    4) Type your iTunes Store account name (which is your Apple ID) in the Apple ID field, type your password in the password field, then click the Sign In button.
    5) Click "Addresses" in the column on the left. If you have multiple shipping addresses, remove any out-of-date or duplicate addresses by clicking Delete. Also, make sure the state or province field is filled out correctly for each address. To edit an address, click Edit. Edit all of your shipping addresses and make sure the appropriate state is selected in the State drop-down menus.
    6) Now click "Phone Numbers" on the left. The area codes should be in the area code fields and the phone numbers should be in the phone number fields. If an area code is missing, or if it is in a phone number field, your account information may not save properly.
    7) Make any other necessary corrections, then click the Save Changes button.
    8) Click Log out in the upper-right corner.  When you make your next purchase on the iTunes Store, you will be asked to review your billing information. At this point, you can change your information or simply click Done at the bottom of the screen to proceed. Once you click Done, you should be able to purchase on the iTunes Store using your store credit.

  • I recently added a itunes gift card to my account and now it wants me to reenter my credit card info and when i do it says credit card declined?

I recently added a itunes gift card to my account and now it wants me to reenter my credit card info and when i do it says credit card declined?

I think I had a similar problem the other day. I purchased an app with a cc that had been canceled by my bank with out me knowing it had been. Once I realized the cc was no longet active I added an itunes giftcard thinking that would allow me to purchase items. Well everytime I tried to ourchase somrthing with the new gift card it kept telling me that I had no funds. So someone in the apple store told me that until the app purchase with the old expired cc cleared on that cc then i would not be able to use any other form of payment. So I had to call my bank and asked them to reactivate my old cc for a couple seconds while I repurchased the app with my bank on the phone. Once that purchae cleared then it allowed me to use apple gift cards. Sorry for long answer but I think this might help you.

  • ITunes:  I just redeemed a gift card in iTunes and then rented a movie.  I want it charged to the gift card but think that it was charged to my credit card.  How do I ensure the charges are against the gift card?

iTunes:  I just redeemed a gift card in iTunes and then rented a movie.  I want it charged to the gift card but think that it was charged to my credit card.  How do I ensure the charges are against the gift card?

I took this straight from the help menu.
You need to set up an Apple ID for use with the iTunes Store before you can redeem anything in the iTunes Store. You don’t need to enter credit card information to redeem only the amount of a gift certificate or card.
    Hide
Use an iTunes allowance, gift certificate, or iTunes Gift Card
If you aren’t already signed in to the iTunes Store, choose Store > Sign In, or click Sign In at the top of the iTunes Store window.
Below Quick Links, click Redeem, and follow the onscreen instructions.
The amount in your account appears to the left of your account name. When you click the Buy button to make purchases, the amount changes to show how much money remains in your account.
You can use a gift certificate only in the iTunes Store for the same country in which the certificate was purchased.

  • Setting up two  iPod Touches on one account with gift cards for app and in-app purchases

I have multiple devices on one account - 2 iPod classics, one iPhone 3G and two recently acquired iPod Touches for my 8 year old boys.  They want to make in-app purchases (for Dragonville).  They each have their own gamecenter ID.  I want to set up each of them with gift cards for their purchases.  Is this possible?
If not, what is the recommended approach to manage all devices in one place while allowing individual devices to have a seperate payment mechanism?
    Thanks.

    I recommend that you
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

  • So im trying to buy logic pro and just recently put enough money in gift cards on my account but every time i click buy app and go to billing info and then click ok it just shoots me to the first screen and did not charge for app how can i buy it ?

so im trying to buy logic pro and just recently put enough money in gift cards on my account but every time i click buy app and go to billing info and then click ok it just shoots me to the first screen and did not charge for app how can i buy it ?

This may sound stupid, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway. Is it possible, that if I have enough junk on my desktop it might disrupt the signal? It seems odd, but it kind of looks like my signal is strong and relatively steady now that I've cleaned my desktop. I do tend to get very cluttered. I use a lot of reference images and save text clippings to use later... it just piles up very quickly.
So, I wonder if all that extra effort my system has to do keeping up with the junk might have something to do with the drop outs?

  • I want to remove my credit card from my account and only use gift cards for purchases. How can I delete my card number?

I want to delete my credit card from my account and only use gift cards.  How can I delete my card number?

You'll want to get in touch with ITunes support for this. Normally when you start an account with the CC you can't remove it yourself. But by contacting iTunes they can get that taken off for you.

  • Why is apple requiring me to enter a gift card credit card or itunes card in order set up a new account

why is apple requiring me to enter a gift card, credit card or itunes card in order to set up a new account

My assumption is because you aren't setting the account properly. You can't set up an Apple ID and then try to use it without a credit card unless you follow a very specific procedure which you obviously did not do.
You have to try to download a free app first - before you set up the ID - and then create the ID from the prompts. You set the ID up first and it doesn't work that way. You will have to either enter a credit card now and then delete it later, or start all over again with a new ID. If you start all over again, you have to sign out of the current ID in Settings>Store - tap your ID and sign out. You will also need another email address because you already associated your email address with the first ID.
This explains how to set up an Apple ID/iTunes account without a credit card.

As I said, this is my assumption, if there is something else going on here, post back with something more detailed other than "why is Apple requiring ...." We can't possibly know why you can't do without some more information to go on.

I used a 25 dollar gift card on my account and I spent it all and now I can't even download free apps is there a way to fix this?

Did you enter a credit card when you created your Apple ID? If you created the ID and never entered a credit card, but used a gift card from the start, you probably didn't create the account correctly. The bottom line is that you have to enter a credit card now. You don't have to use it, but I'm assuming that's why you can't download free apps. You still need to enter the credit card because you didn't creat your Apple ID the correct way for not using a credit card.
