Banshee exits on start with dbus-related error

Here's what I get when I try to start Banshee:

And of course the damned thing refuses to start at all. Has anyone else observed this bug?

Causes it to "quit unexpectedly" (i.e. crash ) with the typical vague GUI message and this console output:

    Hi,
IP Helper (service name 'iphlpsvc') is apparently designed to improve a Windows PC's support for IPv6 network protocol.
I suggest you try enable  the dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\iphelper.exe]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\
      00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
    "DumpCount"=dword:00000010
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
    "CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000
Once the error appears again, please find the crashdump file under c:\.

    Hi athol49,
Which account you have used to logon this machine?
This error code is mostly related with the service permission, which indicates that the permission is not configured correctly.
Try to boot into safe mode and check this issue again, make sure there is no 3rd-party software involved.
Next thing is to create another admin account( or enable the built-in admin account to create a new admin account, as this one have permisssion issues), then check this issue again.
Further, run the DISm command to make sure there is no component issue:
    DISM /Online
    /Cleanup-Image
    /RestoreHealth
    /source:WIM:X:\sources\Install.wim:1
    /LimitAccess
Where the X: is the drive for the install media, or the mounted ISO.

Newly installed Windows 2012 R2 server throws the following event roughly every 3 minutes:
Session "" failed to start with the following error: 0xc0000022
The PID referenced in the event points to WmiPrvSE.exe running as NETWORK SERVICE.  Is there something obvious I'm missing because I'm not sure where to go with the information I found so far.  I already did my fair sharing of Binggling and everything
I find doesn't apply or doesn't fix the problem.

Not according to my computer - (actually its at least 4 years now) which among so many other errors have haunted me from the day I bought it and took it home. I've spent literally a year of time out of the 5 I've had this laptop which btw is a home computer,
not a small business pc - searching, trying fixes that didn't work, searching more trying fixes that worked only to have the same scenario begin again 2-3 months down the road OR new ones pop up - which starts the process all over again. I'm now getting BSOD's
about once every 2-3 days with no reason in the event viewer.
And I continue to work on all the errors, warnings and critical errors with no results. I just wish Microsoft would fix these issues instead of developing new OS's that not only carry these problems over but add new ones to each new OS. Don't misunderstand
me. I like Windows, in fact I'm one of the very few graphic artists out there that prefer it over a MAC but its quite disheartening to be continually working on these issues to say the least.
Of course, it's just my opinion....I could be wrong!

Can you let us know if you get any Blue Screen crush error while using your comptuer?
Generally we can safely ignore the errors in the Event log. Aas we don't if you have get other issues in your computer, you can test your computer in the Clean Boot mode. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service.
You can try the the following steps:
    1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
    2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
    3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
Please test this issue in this Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can use the dichtomy to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue. You can refer to the
    KB929135.
    Good luck!
    John
This is a very poor answer.  This guy doesn't know what he's talking about because if you tell someone its ok to  "safely ignore the errors in the event log"  as a blanket instruction ESPECIALLY because as he stated so himself
he didn't know if there were other issues with the OP's pc then he's giving really bad advice. If you ignore errors in the event log then over time your system will degrade and you will have other issues.. Every error on your pc should NOT be ignored.
It should be decided on a case by case situation.
Furthermore this is an error involving the Windows Session which it states has failed. Definitely should NOT be ignored.
I've got the same error which has suddenly just showed up. No BSOD, Do not have WHS installed and all my media center connectors have NEVER been connected. I don't believe this is a service issue. I think it has something
to do with kernel event tracing.
Of course, it's just my opinion....I could be wrong!

  • "User names cannot start with a number" error while adding a user

Is it possible to use WL Portal 7.0 admin framework to manage users with all numeric
    user id ?
I got an error "User names cannot start with a number" while trying to add users
with all numeric user ids. I am using "portalAppTools" web app provided with WL
    7.0 out of the box.
What "out the box" functionality do I need to change to make this happen ? Thanks
    Shah

The problem is that when we have user groups starting with a number, then the search
feature doesn't work for user groups (case # 466837 with BEA).
So, which brings me to the following question:
    a. Should the search feature work?
    b. What is the limitation? I mean, it is designed not to allow user groups starting
with a number. So, there must be a reason for this. So, if we change "disallowFirstCharDigit",
will it have any impacts on Portal?
As an aside, it seems somewhat strange that the Portals can start with a number!
    Thanks in advance

Right now, I'm replacing the license.properties file to deal
with the 500 null error. My question is, has anyone else
experienced this smattering of other error messages in conjunction
with the 500 null error? Or fast on the heels of it? What's the
deal with the 500 null error, anyway? Has Adobe made any progress
    with this issue?

Okay, this is a followup to my previous post (
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=143&threadid=1165765&en terthread=y).
Replacing the license.properties file isn't sufficient in
addressing the 500 null error. We are running Ubuntu Linux. I
understand that I need to replace jvm 1.5 with jvm 1.4.2. I'm
honestly not sure how to detect on Linux which version of jvm is
running or how to make sure that version 1.4.2 is what is running
when we reinstall ColdFusion. If someone could help me with this,
I'd appreciate it. The 500 null error is eating my Web site like
the Langoliers. Even some static .cfm pages are failing now.

  • Hyper-V VM can't start with VHD attached, error 0x80070422

    Hi,
i'm in a big trouble with Hyper-V on a Windows 2008 R2 server. Hardware is a HP Proliant DL360 G7. Role are DC, Hyper-V (yes, i know it's not recommended), AV client is Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10.2, and everything was working fine for more than a year.
Here is the full story, with the first part of problem i resolved.
    First part:
I had problems with HP NIC (nc382i) when trying to update drivers to last version, and with HP Network Config Utility. I updated NIC drivers, then reboot, and i had the BSOD on boot, even in safe mode. So i had a look to minidump with debbugger, to find
reasons, and it seems the ksecdd.sys driver was the culprit (cryptographic kernel driver), but didn't get why, unless Kasperksy had to to something with it...anyway, i was able to boot by using the last good know configuration, and then I
removed the virtual switch on Hyper-V, dissolve HP network team (4 NICS), update drivers, then HP NCU, then tried to add a new Hyper-V virtual switch, all of these of course with VM stopped, and with autostart disabled on host reboot. I had BSOD only in normal
mode, no more on safe mode, so i used again last good known configuration, removed Kaspersky Endpoint Security, HP team, and virtual swith, used all drivers which were old working versions, made again HP team, virtual switch, and everything went fine, at last!
Boot with no errors, network was up and usable, all services were fine. Maybe it isn't important, but the only thing i realised is that network takes long to be up on reboot...
Now, second part with actual problems: i tried to start VM in Hyper-V...and i had the famous errors:
Microsoft Emulated IDE Controller (Instance ID {XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}): Failed to Power on with Error 'The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled
or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.' (0x80070422).
    And events ID 12140, 12010 and 12030
No matter what VM i tried to boot, it won't. Even if i try to create a new one, same issue.
I had a look everywhere to find solutions, so i tried with no luck :
    - Change registry key to let correct a timing issue with FSDepends.sys and with
    VHDMP.sys ("Start" REG_DWORD at "0" instead of "3" in "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\FsDepends")
    then reboot
    - Verify all access to registry, files, etc. with procmon utility to find a security problem
    - Uninstall ARCServer BrightStor Backup, clean in safe mode any trace of Kaspersky with
    kavremover utility
    - Reverse to old HP BIOS which i know is working on others servers with same configuration
    - Verify again access to file and registry while trying to boot VM with
    procmon utility
    - Removed Hyper-v role, then after reboot, install all same HP drivers for NICs, HP NCU, which are working on others servers, then reinstall Hyper-V role, create new VM...
    - Verified many times files integrity with sfc (online and offline...)
Finally, i was able to boot a VM, only if i remove attached VHD, and i use only a DVD on IDE Controller, for booting for example on a Windows Server ISO. If i use an SCSI Controller, even without a VHD attached to it, i have other error:
Microsoft Synthetic SCSI Controller (Instance ID {XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}): Failed to Power on with Error 'Insufficient Memory' (0x8007000E).
So i think the problem is with kernel driver, vhdmp.sys, or something like
vdvroot.sys, but i don't know how to correct this, and i'm in a dead end...is someone know for example what means the
0x80070422 error ? How can i verify kernel driver integrity?...
Any suggestion will be greatly apreciated, thanks!

    Hi,
That error occur often is the Unknown Device installed which was related to vhdparser, maybe the AV soft change the vhdparser.
Please try to changed the startup value for FsDependes from 3 to 0 and also uninstalled the Unknown Device which was related to vhdparser from device manager.
If you are using the pass-through disk please install the following hotfix:
"0x0000000A" Stop error on a Windows Server 2008 R2-based or Windows Server 2012-based Hyper-V server that has many pass-through disks

    How To Fix Ntdll.dll Errors
Try the below solutions one at a time.
    * Unplug removable devices
    * Restart your computer. The ntdll.dll error you're receiving could be due to a one-time, temporary issue and a simple reboot may resolve the problem completely.
    * Reinstall the program if the ntdll.dll error only displays when you use a specific program.
**If the software program has any updates or service packs available, install them too. The software's programmers may have identified an issue with the program that caused the ntdll.dll error and then issued a patch for it.
**Note: Third party software programs that have been installed on your computer are almost always the cause of ntdll.dll errors. The remainder of these troubleshooting steps resolve ntdll.dll issues only rarely.
    * Check the Windows service pack level you're running and then check Microsoft's support site to see if there is a more recent service pack available for installation. Some issues that caused ntdll.dll errors have been corrected in these service packs from Microsoft.
    * Selectively disable Internet Explorer add-ons. If your ntdll.dll error is displaying when you start, run, or close Internet Explorer, an add-on may be causing the problem. Disabling each add-on, one by one, will determine which add-on is the culprit (if any).
**Note: As a workaround, assuming the ntdll.dll error really is Internet Explorer related, install and use a competing browser like Firefox.
    * Rename the NLSPATH system variable. If your Windows system does not have this environment variable, skip this step.
**Note: This is a troubleshooting step for this issue only. Be sure to set this path back to its original name if this does not resolve the ntdll.dll issue.
    * Disable Data Execution Prevention for Explorer.exe. As in the previous step, this is for troubleshooting the ntdll.dll issue only. If this doesn't resolve the problem, return the Data Execution Prevention settings to their previous settings.
    * Update drivers for any hardware in your computer where updated drivers are available. Outdated drivers sometimes cause ntdll.dll errors.
    * Test your memory for damage. If you're receiving ntdll.dll messages, one possible cause could be a bad memory module in your system. Testing your memory will either identify a problem or clear your RAM of any responsibility.
    * Replace your memory if it fails any of your tests.
    * Ntdll.dll errors could occur if you have an Iomega Zip drive on the same IDE cable as the hard drive inside your computer. If so, move the Zip drive to a dedicated IDE controller.
    * Replace the IDE cable connecting the hard drive to the motherboard. If this cable is damaged or malfunctioning, one symptom could be the ntdll.dll error you're seeing.
    * Repair your installation of Windows. If individual software reinstallations fail to resolve the problem, a repair installation of Windows will replace the ntdll.dll file.
    * Perform a clean installation of Windows. A clean installation will completely remove Windows from your PC and install it again from scratch. I don't recommend this option unless you've exhausted all previous troubleshooting ideas and you're comfortable that the ntdll.dll error is not caused by a single program (Step #2).
**Note: If a single program or plugin is causing the ntdll.dll error, reinstalling Windows and then reinstalling all of the same software may lead you right back to the same ntdll.dll error.
    * While extremely rare, if everything else has failed, including the clean installation from the last step, you could be dealing with a hardware issue with your hard drive.
**If so, replace the hard drive and then perform a new installation of Windows.

I also have an iAS 10g server on the same machine and OWM starts fine when I am that user (it was installed new not cloned)
I assume I am missing a link somewhere but I can't seem to figure out where, anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!

    Hi,
Does rapidclone now execute the scripts identified in MOS Doc 356878.1 automatically ? It did not used to perform an automatic relink.Rapid Clone always relink the database executable files automatically.
    Thanks,

  • [Solved] Audition won't start with [...\Preferences.cpp-253] error on windows 7/vista x64.

Hi! You have really nice support for Audition - 3 pages of problems here and no solution. Just kidding
So i've decided to help those poor users, that encounter the following problem (it may (or may not) arise after installing Adobe CS* with Audition already installed on the system)):
Adobe Audition crashes at start with the following error:
    [\premiere2.0\Backend\Src\Core\Preferences.cpp-253]
After applying the Windows XP compatibility mode error chages to:
Adobe Audition could not find a supported audio device. Please check your device settings.
    Then it crashes like before.
Uninstalling Adobe Premiere won't help, by the way.
This problem is somehow related to the audition_settings.xml file in the Data folder and deleting this file solves the problem. You can aslo delete the whole folder - it will be created again on a next Adobe Audition start. Here is the path:
    C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\3.0\audition_settings.xml
Some technical data on my system:
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 (don't be confused - it is in every way identical to Windows 7 x64, at least for Adobe products). I have a strong feeling that Vista x64 users may encounter that too.
    Installed Adobe products:
    1. Adobe Audition
    2. Adobe Master Suite CS5 (without premier)
    3. Adobe Acrobat X
I hope that my post will help you solve the error in the next release!
