Barcode,select type automatically

Hi, actually i am thinking that whether we can make a VI that will decode a barcode without user to select the type of barcode... given that with the condition that the user doesnt know the type of the barcode.....
And this is the example of the 1D barcode reader, provided by the NI....
So, i am thinking that using a for loop to run through each type of the barcode, since there is an enum... then there must be a correct output while the others will result in errors.....
But i just dont know how to show the correct type of the data without any errors happen....
Can someone tell me how to do or you do have any better way to realize this process?

P55T-A5116 when it automatically goes to sleep it will not wake up without a hard reboot

When I allow my computer to go to sleep and it stays in sleep mode for about 15 min, it will not wake up unless you do a hard reboot. The power button stays solid illumination of white and the screen is black, even when I make the settings for any keyboard stroke to wake it up. I updated the driver for the display, but that did not work. I've looked at all the postings in the forum, but doesn't seem to have a solution.
The odd thing is that if I manually put the computer to sleep, the power indicator blinks like it should in sleep mode and wake back up. The issue is when I just leave it unattended and let it go to sleep. The only thing I haven't done is do a complete factory reset, which I really don't want to do. Can someone help me with this?

Could links in a post be auto-converted to REAL links automatically?

When you put a link to somewhere in your post, could they be automatically converted into a HTML link?
That way you don't have to copy/paste it into a new browser tab/window, but rather click on it to see it.

In this same context, people should be made aware of www.tinyurl.com where you can change a long link in, well, a tiny link
which would prevent the message expanding.
Found a bug: if you make a text bold (in my case I only wanted 'tiny link' bold) before you type the rest of your message, the [/b] does not apply at the correct position!
All other following text you type is also bold!

Email server automatically updates itself

I manually input the email server information for my Exchange Server into the 'incoming mail server' settings. It syncs, and some emails download. Then they stop... I go back to the incoming mail server information, and it's a different mail server. Does anyone else see this 'auto-update' of the server information that you've loaded? Is there a way to "lock it" in?

I think some of the possible causes of such slowness:
- Index issues
- replication latency
- high load
- disk usage
I would check those issues in that order, first checking the number and type of indexes for each entry, non indexed searches that could over load server, and try to get better performance reindexing. Updates are usually expensive but not that expensive.
Then, if everything is OK, I would test only using the slow machine and see if replication was an issue.
In all cases I would monitor operative system behaviour.
Mmmh you can also check if the workload of write operations in the slower machine are significantly higher than in the other. And if search time are the same...

Automatically open file with application

how can I get a file automatically being opened by a self-built application when clicked-on in the windows explorer ?

If I understand your question correctly, you want to be able to double click a file in an explorer window, and open it with your own application rather than whatever windows normally uses?
If so, you can achieve this by modifying / adding a file type (used to be called associations). If you select the tools menu -> Folder options -> File Types, you are presented with a window listing the current registered file type by suffix. From here you can modify the application used by default to open specific file types. Another simpler way is to selectg the file that you wish to open, right click on it to bring up the context menu, then select open with. In the ensuing selection box, there is a tick box to 'always use this program with this file type'

T22 CPU Speed Change Automatically in Windows XP

Dear All,
I am using IBM Thinkpad T22 Type 2647, I am facing problem of CPU speed. My Actuall CPU is 900 Mhz, but it changes automatically to 400, 450, upto 896Mhz. Every time i start my laptop it shows different Mhz in the XP. In BIOS it remains constant 900Mhz. I Reinstall Windows XP Home Edition but problem remains. Kindly Guide me in this regards, I will be very thankfull to you all pplz.

Your T22 is behaving normally, what you're seeing is SpeedStep in action. This can be disabled in BIOS under power management.

Bundle cluster automatically?

I've been trying to find a way to create a cluster automatically based off of imported format data, but have not had any luck. The number of elements is quite large, and there are several different data types, so I would prefer to not have to build the cluster manually. I searched the discussions forums, and there have been other people that have asked about this same function, and the answer has always been "there is no good way". However, most of the posts have been from several years (and several Labview versions) ago, so I thought I would resubmit the question. Has there been any new features added recently, or any new development done related to this?
-I am already aware of the non-supported scripting tools (that may or may not still be valid).
-I am aware of the possibility of obtaining a "scripting license" from NI, but do not consider this an option.
-The format data is in a .csv type of format, so I cannot use the "Shared Library Wizard" like if it were in a .dll or header file.
-The import does not need to happen at runtime, it will only be used to configure the software tool prior to use.
-I am working with Labview 2012, but have access to other versions.

What exactly do you mean by automatically bundle? Do you mean you will try to read some data from a file and just dump it into a cluster and at the same time have varied formats for the data? This is not possible and more than likely will never be possible. Will a single execution only deal with one particular data type? If so look at LVOOP and dynamic dispatch. If you need to use different data types at run time you can still use dynamic dispatch but you will need to know what type to invoke. Your code will require a case structure to choose the right processing the particular data type.

Configure directory automatically for StepType in the Insertion Palette

Hi,
I've created my own StepTypes in a ".ini" file. The problem is that those StepTypes are shown in the insertion palette after "Additional result".
I would like to store them in a directory (ex: "MyProjectOfStepTypes/MyStepType1"). I know to do it manually, but I would like to do it automatically, for each StepType, to "install" the palette on differents computers.
Do you have an idea ?

Yeah, at least not without doing something more complicated like run a program which removes the step types' menu item data from testexec.ini. You can use the TestStand API to clear the TypeGroups array with something like the following expression: RunState.Engine.ConfigFile.Data.TypeGroups.SetNumElements(0), RunState.Engine.ConfigFile.IncChangeCount(), RunState.Engine.ConfigFile.SaveFileIfModified(False). Then when you restart teststand it should put everything back in the default locations specified by the type palette files.
The intent of the existing behavior is that if the end user on a specific machine moves a step type, that should override whatever the type palette says about where it should go. I agree that it would be nice to also be able to override that with a newer version of the step type. Solution for: Presario Desktop Computer not automatically going to standby unattended

I would like to offer a solution to a standby problem. I have a Compaq Presario SR2041X with MCE2005. It did not go into standby automatically even when I tried setting the minutes in Control Panel, Power Options.
I tested several combinations and finally found three that do work: First, set "Turn off Monitor after 20 minutes", "Turn off Hard Drive after 30 minutes".
Now I can choose to have it go to "System Standby" in any of these: 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, or 30 minutes. NO other settings I have tried so far will work for me. I hope this information helps someone in case they have problems with this. LOL (lots of luck)

T400 restarts automatically after shutdown

Hello!
This kind of problem in hand.
When I shutdown T400, it shuts but after 3 sec. it starts automatically. I have check bios settings and disabled wake on LAN settings.
I have uncheck Wake On's from Power Management settings refering to network adapters.
Any other T400 laptop I work with works perfect.
I went used regedit to change Autorestart Shell 1 -> 0
Any ideas how to get this baby to shut down.. without taking battery out??

Print HTML Report Automatically after Each UUT

I saw the document on NI site called "Print HTML Report Automatically after Each UUT". That's exactly what I want to do with XML files. So I put it in my sequence file and it works fine, but when it opens the xml file at the first step, there's a pop-up from IE who say that "Scripts are generally safe, do you want to authorise this script" (This message is also displayed when I open my file in files explorer).
So, the print is not automatically anymore as I must answer to this pop-up. does anybody has a solution to bypass this pop-up ?
I tried to use the property silent on the class IWebBrowser2. Inded, the pop-up doesn't appear anymore, but my XML file isn't correctly printed. I supposed the default response of the pop-up (which is no) is applied. So the script isn't executed.
I also tried to configure IE to not display this pop-up : No result

How to take a screen shot automatically and from a remote location

Hi,
I have a Desktop, a Video Analyzer with Windows XP, and a Laptop, also running Windows XP. What I would like to do is take a screen shot from the Video Analyzer while running the LabVIEW VI from my laptop.
I have found this, which gives me insight into the complexity of a print screen call, but this is really only if LabVIEW were running on the system from which my screen shot is desired. For this post, that is not the case.
If you have a solution or even just a vague idea or comment, please do not hesitate to post. I appreciate any and all feedback on this topic.

Thank you for your response. I would like to aviod using outside software in this. I'm sure that TightVNC is great, and it would probably work. I would, however, just like to do this using labview and labview only. Maybe it isn't possible but I really would like to do it entirely in labview. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them even if they, too, have outside software involved.

I´ve an event structure in which a SubVI is called by VI server. I don´t want the main VI to be frozen so I turned the wait until done off.
But the SubVI is just called and in edit mode. How can I call the SubVI and run it automatically?

I have this configuration:
manually execute process 1, then there is a button that opens (when click BTN-A-HISTORICO) the process 2 and process 1 is minimized and still running.
Then the process 2 opens in edit mode.
I put the 0 in the options in the Open VI Reference but i don't understand why doesn't work.

HP Envy Will Not Sleep Automatically

My computer will sleep fine if I tell it to, but it won't do it automatically. That function is critical to my computer's security.
I confirm that I've told it to sleep after 1 minute, whether on battery or plugged in. If I tell it to dim the screen after a minute, that works fine, but it will not sleep.
Below is the Power Efficiency Diagnostics Report (Forum removed HTML) -- note the errors.
I have unplugged all USB devices. I have stopped the WIndows Media Network Sharing Service. I have disconnected from the network (airplane mode). It still will not sleep.

Printing a control panel at a specific time of day automatically

I would like to be able to print out a control panel at a set time each day. I know that I can connect the print data member of the panel to another object. What should that object be?

Try the "Time-Of-Day" object. Its parameters are on/off, Offset time, duration time and format (all parameters are “yellow” fields except format, which means you can use other object data members). On/off lets you disable the timer, offset time is when in the day to activate the timer (i.e. 17:00:00 for 5:00 PM), duration time is how long to pulse the timer (to tickle a panel to print you would only need 00:00.1) and anything would do for format if you don't intend to display the timer (00:00:00 would be appropriate if you display the timer). Connect the Time-of-day object implicit data member to the panel object writable print data member and you are done. When the offset time is the current time the time-of-day object pulses and the panel prints. Be aware that the area of the panel that prints is based on the Height and Width parameter values, not the position on the screen (the X and Y data members override the parameters if connected). There is more info on timers and panels in the on-line help.
