Barcoded Form - Save as Dynamic or Static?
Hello,
this might be a very dump question, but I was asking myself how I have to save my Designer 7 form with a barcode in it, so that it is working properly: as Dynamic or Static form?
I was playing a bit around with both versions, because I want to dynamically highlight some fields, and therefore need a dynamic form.
My barcode encoding is working in both versions, however if I have a dynamic form, my barcode has a kind of subtitle: the small numbers below the barcode are duplicated (the second line with a bigger font). And the barcode itself is increased in size when the data doesn't fit in the actual size. Can I switch off this behavior (the subtitle and the increase) and still save it dynamically?
Regards, Karin
Hello Lee,
thanks for your quick answer. As I said in the previous posting, I would like to save it as dynamic, otherwise the highlighting of mandatory fields is not working properly. So I had a look at the XML code of my barcode, however was not able to identify anything that is not also in the static version.
Here is the extract of the XML data of one of the barcodes:
a6970cef-3781-45eb-80ae-551d99d734ef
Can you identify the tags I have to remove? I couldn't find anything with 'inside'. The other barcode contains almost the same, except that the caption tag comes three times and have different values.
Thanks for your help in advance!
Regards, Karin

Is there a way to save a fillable form (in Reader) as a static (uneditiable) image and send it for signature without the recipient being able to revise the fields at all? I have designed a number of fillable forms and sent them to our clients as Reader extended pdfs to be filled out and sent back. Now, certain clients want to be able to fill in the fields and save the doc as a pdf that can't be tampered with so that they can send it to their own people for signature to be returned to them hand-signed and scanned via email.
Since the forms have been secured, and my cleints are only using the free Acrobat Reader, how can they save the filled in form as a static pdf to send on for signature? They do not want to have to print, scan and email. Is there an app, plug-in, simple solution to this?
Thank you,
RumorThe signature WILL work! I've just looked into it more, thank you so much for pointing me in that direction.
I get it now, it locks the form fields in place after my coworker fills them in and signs it (as the very last step).
I wish I would have asked on here a full day ago. Would have saved a lot of headache and Googling.
Thanks again. -
Save Data to a Static Form then re-open for adding attachments
Greetings,
I have an issue with a form that I would like some help solving.
1. Form designed in Designer 8 using pdf "image" and laying fields on top.
2. Form is saved as a static 7 PDF.
3. When form is opened in Reader (not sure which version(s).) the form needs to be saved with input data AND then reopened to add attachments later.
The problem seems to be that I can save the data to the static form but then seem to lose the "handle" on the form for later opening and addition of attachments.
Anyone have any ideas?
Rick KuhlmannTry this. By naming the file before hand using a file path control (or a constant on the block diagram), it will write to the file without prompting.

JavaScript works when saving file as Dynamic or Static but not 6.0 compatible
I need to be make required fields not required when a form is submitted from a specific button. This gives the user the ability to save the form without having to complete it. I have this working using the following script when the form is saved as Dynamic or Static.
for (var i = 0; i < xfa.host.numPages; i++)
var fields = xfa.layout.pageContent(i, "field");
for (var j = 0; j < fields.length; j++)
var field = fields.item(j);
field.mandatory = "disabled";
But when the form is saved as Adobe 6.0 Compatible, it does not work. Can anybody explain to me why this is? And possibly help me convert this so it will work with Adobe 6.0 forms.
Thanks
NateBut if I run that in terminal I get this:
anthony-computer:~ anthonyjk$ java -version
java version "1.5.0_13"Yes - commandline/Terminal, that's what I meant.
So long as the program doesn't use any 1.6-only features, then will it will compile OK both at school (using1.6) and at home (using 1.5). Eclipse can be told to produce .class files that are compatible with a particular runtime. In your case the school compiler was producing 1.6 class files that are no good when you take them home. Hence the need to recompile, telling Eclipse you want 1.5 compatible .class files.
Or - as I mentioned - download and install the most recent JDK for use at home. There'll be less confusion that way -
How to generate a PDF 417 Barcode by assigning a dynamic value at runtime?
PDF 417 Barcode Description given in the Livecycle Designer 8.2
: PDF 417 Non-Scriptable Barcode. Value must be assigned to this barcode at design time, and this barcode will not update after form object value changes.
And my question is how to generate a PDF 417 Barcode by assigning a dynamic value at runtime?All the information you described points to the problem that reports seems can't generate to a file which already exist. You can verify that by simply doing
r30run32 C:\AC_REPORT.REP DESTYPE = FILE DESFORMAT = PDF BATCH = YES' desname=c:\temp\ac_report.pdf
several times. If first time the report is successfully generated in c:\temp\ac_report.pdf, but not the second, third time, then it looks like there is a bug on reports r30run32 executable.
You may try to find any latest patch for Reports 3.0 to see if patch can solve you problem. But keep in mind Reports 3.0 is de-supported, you are better to move to 6i or 9i reports.

How do I acquire LiveCycle Barcoded Forms Decoder?
I have seen in various areas of the Adobe website that this is available for purchase as a seperate Enterprise product, but cannot see how to do this. Even downloading a trial at this stage would be very useful to make progress on a project.
This comment from: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Standard/WSB6B0B0A6-FD16-4d4b-A729-815994F689BF.ht ml
"Note: Acrobat Capture and LiveCycle Barcoded Forms Decoder are standalone products appropriate for enterprise workflows and are sold separately from Acrobat."
As background, we are not developing the barcoded form, we will just receive a form which we will scan, extract the data and save it in an XML file.
Any rapid help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards
JOHNAdobe® LiveCycle® Reader® Extensions ES2 now includes the Barcoded Forms right and you are licensed to install and use the decoder service is part of that purchase. When you install LiveCycle just be sure to select the Barcoded Forms piece which will include the decoder service.
http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/readerextensions/
If you'd like to learn more about when it does need to be licensed, take a look at this blog entry: http://blogs.adobe.com/asktheexperts/2009/06/adobe_livecycle_barcoded_forms.html. -
Dynamic to Static URL's
what is the best program to use to do this? Because I dont'
want to make hundreds of static pages, is there a easy way to show
this properly and get better indexing at the same time. I have
heard of wordpress, but don't know if it is automated and I think I
need htaccess file.
ie:
FROM:
www.mysite.com/products.php?store=27
TO:
www.mysite.com/products/nike.htm
thanksI did this for a client by simply modifying the 404 error
page. You do not have to install any special renaming software onto
your server whatsoever.
First create a custom 404 error page outputting the
cgi.query_string of the error page. In that you will see the
incorrectly called url, which in your case will include the unique
username.
Ex:
404;https://www.yourdomain.com:443/username/
Extract the username using a combination of your list
functions...
Ex:
<cfset username = listdeleteat(listgetat(CGI.QUERY_STRING,
3, ":"), 1, "/") />
Remove the trailing slash if needed...
Ex:
<cfset username = listgetat(username, 1, "/") />
Then cfquery the username. If found, cfinclude the relevant
index page (if you want the url to stay the same), or cflocation to
the actually page assigning the username as a url variable. If the
username is not found, just goto home page.
Remember to disallow any special characters or top level
directory names in your usernames.
<cfloop condition='findoneof("\/:*?""<>|",
form.urlname)'>
<cfset form.urlname = removechars(form.urlname,
findoneof("\/:*?""<>|", form.urlname), 1) />
</cfloop>
<cfdirectory action="list" name="alldirs"
directory="#expandpath('/')#" />
<cfquery dbtype="query" name="dirs">
SELECT name
FROM alldirs
WHERE type = "Dir"
AND name = #lcase(form.urlname)#

Adobe Barcoded Forms and LiveCycle Licensing
If you add a Paper Forms Barcode object to a fill-and-print PDF form using either Designer or Acrobat and the value of the barcode will change while opened within the free Adobe Reader then the PDF form you are distributing needs to be licensed with an Adobe® LiveCycle® Barcoded Forms ES license. I need to create a dynam ic barcode that users can change using Adobe Reader and print the form with barcode intact. It's for use in a pre-K school. Usage will be limited to 200 students per year.(Creating 200 forms that teacher's will fill out). I believe this is my solution, but pricing may be way too high. What are my options and have I been correct so far? There is no server, only a WORKGROUP environment. Thanks.
Tom: Ok, so from the Adobe side, yes, LiveCycle Forms is the only tool that can achieve this. It used to be called Barcoded Forms ES, now it is just Forms ES2. Unfortunately it is a server only product so you would need a server.
Tom: List price is around 85k, so I think it might be a bit more than you guys need unfortunately.
Tom: We don't really have a basic barcoded forms piece for smaller initiatives, unfortunately.
Visitor: Yikes!
Visitor: What are my options?
Tom: Do you absolutely need barcodes? Or could you do online fill in and submit?
Visitor: If I purchase Acrobat Standard(I created the form is Professional) for 5-10 people, that should do the trick as long as the Adobe READER user doesn't change the barcode information, correct?
Tom: Honestly, I'm not sure. Acrobat isn't something I am an expert on.
Tom: You could try Adobe Formscentral as well as using Acrobat.
Tom: Otherwise you'd have to try the Acrobat forums or user community as I don't have a lot of info about it.
Visitor: The forms are printed by the teacher/evaluator and hand-written to be scanned when completed(End of month, etc). A barcode decoder(Kofax Express) will read the barcode and rename the file according to the barcode data.
Tom: Hm, I think the Acrobat forums is your best bet, then.Thanks for the great suggestion!
Can a Pre-K school receive an educational
institution discount on Acrobat pricing? -
Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.1 - Barcoded Forms Changes
For those of you that have upgraded to Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.1 you should notice that there are a few changes to the Paper Forms Barcode object interface.
On the Field tab you will see that the label may be generated automatically or manually which before could only be generated automatically. The most significant change may be found further down in the new Symbology pull-down menu. Not only can Barcodes be generated in the PDF417 format, but now you can take advantage of both QRCode and DataMatrix. Depending on the region as well as vertical will probably decide which format you will be using on your forms but it may be worth experimenting with different symbologies and data capacities based on the data of your forms to see if there may be a better alternative.
On the Value tab you will find a slight change to the automated scripting. Tab-delimited and XML may still be generated automatically but you now have the option to select whether or not you would like to include the field names and labels. The Include Field Names separates the field names by tabs and encodes them as the first line of the barcode contents. The values are encoded beneath them. Include Label encodes the label (shown in Field tab) as the first tab-delimited field in the barcode contents. This is a great way to include a form identifier as a standard in your data (a good best practice). Keep in mind that when using the default tab-delimited formats the Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms Decoder can create XML from tab-delimited data automatically which saves some time on the back-end integration effort.
Again on the Value tab there is another new drop-down field named Collection. For those of you familiar with the Barcoded forms interface of Acrobat, you were able to select the fields that you wanted to be encoded in the barcode without having to do any custom scripting. The Collection interface basically provides you with the same functionality but under a great tree-view interface that allows you to manage the data that goes into your Barcode very easily, again, without custom Scripting.I am receiving the following error when I deploy the xdp form onto the adobe form server 6.0.
TEST
My question about this is the other Dynamic VPN that is working has no static route.
I added:
route outside 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.248 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP of the non working remote IKE Peer)
This had no effect.
Looking at the two tunnels. The working tunnel is using IKE IPSEC and the nonworking tunnel is using IKE IPsecOverNatT. What have I entered that tells the VPN to use IPsecOverNatT? -
How do i purchase access to LiveCycle Barcoded Forms?
I am currently creating a form in Adobe Livecycle ES2. I want to put a PDF417 2D barcode on the form containing the data of the fields in the form. The customer should be able to use Adobe reader to fill out the form and the barcode should update with the field information. However to do this i need to purchase a license for LiveCycle Barcoded Forms. In order to get this license it seems that I need to purchase Livecycle reader Extensions ES2. However the product is not available online and when contacting Adobe no one knows how I can purchase this product. I have been in contact with: Adobe customer service Denmark, Adobe support Denmark, Adobe sales Denmark, Adobe customer service Sweden, Adobe Support Sweden, Adobe Sales UK, Adobe support UK, Dustin Denmark (Adobe reseller).
Does anyone know how to purchase this product or how much it costs to purchase?
An additional question i have is if there is a product that works in a similar way for Adobe Acrobat X Pro? Or do i also need Livecycle reader Extensions ES2 to unlock user rights for barcoded forms made with Acrobat X Pro?Ok i give up!
For other Adobe users looking for this product. Please consider that it is impossible or nearly impossible to purchase a license for it! I have contacted the following with no luck:
Adobe customer service Denmark
Adobe support Denmark
Adobe sales Denmark
Adobe customer service Sweden
Adobe Support Sweden
Adobe Sales UK
Adobe support UK
Adobe Sales US (through the phone no. listed on the web page for the product)
Adobe Support US
Dustin Denmark (Adobe reseller)
Avoka (Adobe partner)
4Point (Adobe partner)
Please keep in mind that there are other easier ways to unlock user rights. -
Dynamic to Static VPN dies after about 4 minutes
Hey everyone, I have an interesting issue with a dynamic to static VPN setup. I currently run a pair of Cisco Pix 515e firewalls in a failover setup. They are running OS 8.0.4 and they run great. I used to have a VPN between these and my office where the remote office had a static IP address. I am moving that to a new connection which uses dynamic IP addresses.
I setup a pre-shared key on the DefaultL2LGroup on the Pix and removed the existing static tunnel-group. I also reconfigured the remote firewall which is a Netgear firewall to connect to the Pix. It is still using main mode and the rest of the setup is pretty much the same.
The VPN connection establishes fine and I can pass traffic through it with no issues. The problem is that every 3 minutes and 50 seconds, the VPN will go down for a few seconds. It looks like it rekeys. My stuff will stop responding and then it will re-establish and it is fine. It happens every 3 minutes and 50 seconds like clockwork.
I have checked everything I could think of and am not sure where the issue is. I know I can do detailed debugs on the IPSec but am not sure what I should be looking there. The basic debug just givs the generic message below that says the tunnel can't communicate with the peer. I have seen that message before but not usually with a VPN that establishes. Generally if this message comes up, the tunnel never works.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks
Neal
Group = DefaultL2LGroup, IP = X.X.X.X, Removing peer from peer table failed, no match!
Group = DefaultL2LGroup, IP = X.X.X.X, Error: Unable to remove PeerTblEntryI did more testing and it seems that the tunnel sites at the MM_ACTIVE state and doesn't go past that. The information is the same on both ends of the tunnel and traffic passes fine when at this state but then it rekeys after about 4 minutes and starts again.
I tried changing the tunnel to an Aggresive Mode tunnel but using a name for the remote office firewall ID and now it sits at AM_ACTIVE but doesn't go past that point either. -

Hi all,
In our solution we have some barcodes on a form (7 barcodes on the one that I am using), they contain compressed XML data (I know that this uses much space in the barcode - anyway it should work regardless of this).
What the interesting thing is what is returned from the "decode-service" in WB.
When I run a scanned form through the process I have created I get "garbled" xml in my XML-doc that is returned from the decode-service.
If I use a handheld scanner (with a customly created program that handles the compression) I get the correct data from the barcode.
If I do not use compression in the barcode I get the correct XML data from the barcode (with the decode-service). This is weird to me... What is going on???
Some time ago I posted this issue (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.3c058293) but never really caught up with a solution.
Can you help me with this?
Sincerely
KimOops, something happended with the above post. I will try again... I have tried your suggestion but I still get the same garbled XML (with data repeated and some values "cut in half".<br /><br />Here is what I get after decode-service and extract-to-XML-service. This is just the first barcode, the others are similar, sorry for the poor formatting, but I get a CDATA tage infront of the "istensen" value.<br /> <br />CDATA:istensen</fld_ForMellemEfterNavn<br />><fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />>Superroad 99, 1330 Supertown</fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />><fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />>20724283</fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />></sub_Person<br />></sub_PktA<br />><fld_BlanketNr<br />>kb0371ff</fld_BlanketNr<br />><fld_BarcodeCount<br />/></form1<br />>/sub_Adresse<br />><sub_Person<br />><fld_ForMellemEfterNavn>Kim Christensen</fld_ForMellemEfterNavn<br />><fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />> Superroad 99, 1330 Supertown </fld_VejNRpostByEnLinie<br />><fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />>20724283</fld_PrivatTelefonnummer<br />></sub_Person<br />></sub_PktA<br />><fld_BlanketNr<br />>kb0371ff</fld_BlanketNr<br />><fld_BarcodeCount<br />/></form1<br /><br />Obviously this is not a legal xml-string, so I can do nothing about it.<br /><br />I have tried using a custom .NET component (ClearImage) for reading the same form (with the barcode) I get the correct data out from the barcodes. So I guess something is wrong with the decode-service in Barcoded Forms ES when I use compressed XML. But I can conclude since the ClearImage component can read the barcodes that they are compressed correctly.<br /><br />Can you help me with getting further with this problem?<br /><br />Sincerely<br />Kim

How can I fill in a form, save the form such that it cannot be further altered, and email it as it was saved? I created a form with 5 fields. It is a form letter that is intended as a receipt for funds received. I want to fill in the date, name, amount received, etc., save the form with inserted data fields so they can't be further altered, and be able to email it as a complete unalterable PDF document. What I'm doing now, is filling in the fields, printing it, scanning it, and emailing it as an unalterable document. The document was created on a Mac using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 10.1.13. The document is filled in on a PC that only has Adobe reader on it, printed, scanned and emailed as an attachment. There must be a better way!
If you have access to a ASP.net Web Server, then the submission could be FLATTENED with FDFToolkit.net and emailed without client-side email software by only using Adobe Reader.
For more information check out the following websites:
