Barracuda on Safari on iPod touch

When I connect my iPod touch to the Wifi at my office and then open Safari on the iPod, the Barracuda web filter we have installed on our network prevents me from viewing certain sites on the iPod.
Is this to be expected? Obviously the Barracuda filter kicks in when I'm using my work computer on the network, but Safari on the iPod touch? Does the iPod adopt the network settings that it's connected to? I thought the iPod would act independently of any network settings here at work, and that I would just be "borrowing" the wireless connection itself here at work.

When your Touch connects to the Wi-Fi, it's no different than your desktop computer or notebook connecting via an Ethernet cable. You've simply connected to your office's network. Now, that network also provides you with a connection to the Internet, both on your desktop and your Touch. Again, no difference. And your company has filtered that connection.
Any device, no matter how you connect to the network (by a cable or by a wireless connection) will use that filtered web access. Sorry, you're stuck.

  • When using safari on ipod touch.....how do I select " submit" button

My daughter is trying to sign on to the wifi network at her dorm with her ipod touch.....in Safari on the ipod touch, she enters her user name and password in the log in page, but the "submit" button cant be activated.........its visible on the screen of the ipod touch, but she cant scroll to it...

        Hi there cpnova,
This should be an easy fix. Did you store your information with either iTunes or iCloud? If yes, then all you would need to do is reset the device. Perform a master reset. Go to settings, general, reset, and Erase All Content and Settings. Then when it comes time to re-activate the device, you will be able to get everything added back on from our iTunes or iCloud backup. Let us know if you have any questions.

  • How to disable safari on iPod touch

I need to disable safari on child's iPod touch to prevent Internet searching

You need the Restrictions pass code.  You can restore the iPod to factory settings using iTunes.  This will remove all data on the iPod including the Restrictions.  You can then create a new Restrictions Pass Code and turn Safari off.  You will be able to redownload purchased apps and music for free, but all your data, etc. will be lost.

  • Shutting down Safari on iPod Touch

Why would anyone want to shut down Safari on the iPod Touch? Well, it's like this.
The WiFi network at the University where I work has a laborious and arcane log-in where it's necessary to shut down the browser after entering the username and password, and then restart it in order to gain access to the network and the Internet. I've managed to configure the proxy settings for this network, and enter the username and password into the incredibly tiny boxes. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to shut the browser down. If I switch to another application and/or power down the iPod Touch, the browser resolutely remains open to the last page viewed.
    Any thoughts?

Open a new empty page in Safari and close the original one. Then close Safari. Safari will re-open at the empty page.
(In fact, when you close Safari, you are in fact shutting it down - it doesn't remain running in the background. Safari just remembers the last page you were at and re-opens it when you re-open Safari).

  • Safari on Ipod Touch does not allow me to log in to Facebook. Is there a way to fix this?

I've been trying to get on facebook through Safari on my Ipod Touch, but I can't log in.
Is there a way to fix this?

the questions is a little vague
heres are some scenarios that may have influence this problem
    - internet connection (wifi) may be slow - this sometimes happens when it recognizes another wifi connection that are far to reach, check your network connection to ensure that it is using your home network or wherever close wifi you may be
    - too many applications running at once may also contribute, for example, if your playing music and you just exited from playing games or other applications
    - you may be entering your password by mistake or your username?
    - or sometimes even small factors as low battery could have an impact on your iphone/itouch performance?

  • Safari on iPod Touch will not play WAV voicemails

Our campus voicemail system is accessible through a web browser and plays back its audio in WAV format (using the GSM6.10 codec). If I use Safari or Firefox on OS X it plays the voicemail, but when I use Safari on the iPod Touch it tells me that it "cannot play movie: Movie could not be played."
Wouldn't it make more sense for a mobile platform to support as many of the .WAV codecs as possible, especially if the desktop OS already does?

I worked with another person a week or so ago and the issue is the limited mobile Safari version support for playback.
However, the touch MAIL program has no problems playing WAV files.
What I suggested the OP do was set up a Gmail account and set their touch up to download that Gmail account. They then forwarded the email with voice mail to their Gmail account and were able to play it back.

  • Safari on iPod Touch locked

Safari on my iPod Touch appears to be frozen.  I thought it would free up in 24 hours but it has not.  How can I free this up now?  Thanks!

Try a hard reset of your iPod.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  Any luck there?

  • Safari on ipod touch crashes

I have an nolder ipod touch.  Now when I use Safari it frequently it kicks off to main screen. Any ideas?
One more thing I have downloaded the TVU player and it no longer works?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Safari and dlet Cookies, Dat, Histor and other stuff.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    CAUTION
Before you restore the iPod make sure that your iTunes library has the version of apps that are presently installed on your iPod. Many apps have been update and the update apps are not compatible with the 2G iPod. I would do that by deleting the apps from your iTunes library and then transfer them to iTunes. See:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

  • Is there a way to speed up Safari on Ipod Touch 4G?

My Safari has gone much slower and I got the Ipod 7 months ago. Is there a way to speed it up?

Try clearing Safari's History, Cookies and Cache, by heading to Settings -> Safari and tapping the delete button for each of these items.
Then do a hard reset.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If you are still having issues, try restoring the iPod from a previous backup and then to factory defaults after that if necessary.
Is it slow no matter what type of Wi-Fi network you are connected to?

  • Safari for iPod Touch now tries to reload, wipes out pre-loaded pages

Before Friday, June 4, I loaded important web pages into my iPod before I left home while I had an internet connection, and as long as I don't try to refresh them, they stayed in the browser. After Friday, Safari tries to reload them from the server when I am not connected, and thus wipes them off. I save bus schedules in there and since there is no wifi on the bus, I need those schedules to remain in the browser, and they did until Friday. Is there a setting for Safari such as "Do not try to download from server when offline" that was added that day? Thanks.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Mail Contents of this Page. In your e-mail client, send that file to yourself.
Go here for instructions to use your iPod as a storage device: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1478
Connect your iPod to your computer. Double click the iPod icon when it appears on your Desktop.
Copy/paste the contents ONLY of the e-mail to a new text document then File/Save As. Give the document a title: Bus Schedules. Now move that file to the Notes folder in your iPod.

  • "Cant allocate memory" in safari error, iPod Touch 2nd gen

I get "Cant allocate memory" in safari and I cant check my mail, it sayes that the server is not responding. I tried reebooting twice already, reconecting to my wireless network, reseting network settings in general settings and reseting my router, I dont know what else to do.
My iTunes version is the latest and my iPod version is 4.2.1
Can someone help me before I have to restore my iPod
Here is a pic of what i get

That answer is where the problem comes in....
They are NOT AUDIO books, they are just plain normal e-books, for reading.
They do not show up on any lists on iTunes.
I would suppose that only someone who downloads ebooks from the Library would know
how to delete books from the Archives on iPod 2nd Gen.  Audio books are handled differently.
    Thank you for trying.  Frances
