Base qty in Routing

Hi Team ,
Can you tell me what is the need of base quantity in Routing.
By default system proposes 1 as the base quantity. What is the need of maintaining a quantity other than one. And when is this required.
Regards,
Samar

Samar,
The Base Quantity is Quantity of the material to be produced to which the standard values of the operation refer.
let's take an example: If you are packaging in say 25 kg BOX and your standard value paramters are Number of Packages and machine hours. So in this case your Base Quantity will be 25 KG and No. of Packages would be 1 EA and hours might be 2 hrs.
So now if you have an order for 50 kgs, then because of the base quantity when you try to confirm the operation it will show the No. of Packages to be confirmed as 2 EA and number of machine hours as 4 hrs.
The base quantity to standard value parameters helps during operation quantity calculation, confirmation and cost calculation.
Hope the above example helps you. Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Regards,
Swapnil.

• How to maintain decimal places in BOM Qty & what is the essence of base qty

Hello PP members
How to maintain decimal places in BOM Qty & what is the essence of base quantity in BOM ?
Thank You

ur first question is not understood, You can have maximum of 3 decimals in BOM item qty.
Base qty is the qty which is refered to all the BOM items.
example -
Product X, base qty 1
Raw material 1 - componen t qty= 1
Raw material 2 - Component qty= 5
This means To produce Product with qty1, it needs raw material 1 qty 1 and raw material 2 qty 5.
This means To produce Product with qty10, it needs raw material 1 qty 10 and raw material 2 qty 50.
This is the meaning of Base qty..it is the referece qty refered to all the components.
About the decimal places
let us say  example 2
To produce Product with qty1, it needs raw material 1 qty 1 and raw material 2 qty .0001.
When you enter this in SAP for the raw materialm 2 system will give error message that you need to enter the qty with maximum 3 decimal places, hence you need to enter as below
Product with qty10, it needs raw material 1 qty 10 and raw material 2 qty .001.
This is how you need to adjsut the base qty and component qty with decimalplaces moer than 3,
pl come back

• Base qty UOM for BOMs

Hi
I am creating a BOM for material M1 with a component C1. For M1 I cannot change the base qty unit of measure. It defaults to the base unit of measure as defined in the Material Master of M1. Is there a way I can use a alternate UOM for M1 in the BOM?
thanks a lot

Dear Mr.John,
The Unit of measure given in material master will be taken while creation of BOM.
Even if u have manitained some unit of Issue in the material master for the same material, this wont be considered by the system.
So if you want to change the unit of measure,it can be done only in material master.
But if there exists stock or some open order quntity u can't change the unit of measure and the system throws you an error message.
For Eg:
The base unit of measure cannot be changed; choose "Display errors"
Message no. M3189
Diagnosis
You wanted to change the base unit of measure. However, you can do so only under certain circumstances, including the following:
• If there are no stocks of the material in the current period and in the previous period
If there are stocks in the previous period, you can clear them as follows:
a) Post the stock in the previous period to the current period (for example, using movement type 561) so that the stock for the previous period is the same as the stock for the current period.
b) Clear the stock with the posting date in the previous period (for example, using movement type 562).
• If no purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or scheduling agreements exist for the material
Procedure
Choose Display errors to see why you cannot change the base unit of measure for this material.
The pushbutton Display errors appears only in dialog mode, not in data transfer or in mass maintenance. If this message appears in data transfer or in mass maintenance, and you want to know why the base unit of measure cannot be changed, access the material in dialog mode using the relevant transaction below, try to change the base unit of measure as required, and then choose Display errors:
If I'm wrong please correct me Mr.Nandha.
Reward points and close the thread.

• Does AppleTV work as a base station or router?

Wondering if AppleTV works as a wireless router as well. Can't it be set up like a base station? Don't see the logic in spending $300 just to not have to wait for netflix movies lol.
Thanks!

no the appletv cannot be used as any sort of network hub/router.

• Use base station as router instead of cable modem

I have a cable modem that is also a router connected by a wire to the Airport extreme base station. Officially, the Airport should be used as a bridge, disabling the distribute IP option. The thing is this modem ***** and I can't replace it because its from my cable company and also used as IP phone. I would like the Airport to be the DHCP router and handle all the NAT. However, when I turn on the distribute IP option the Airport is freezing.
Note that there is no way to shut down DHCP router on the cable modem.
The modem uses 192.168.1.1 type addresses. Should the airport distribution also be configured to this type of address or to a different one, such as 10.0.0.1.
Is there an optimal way to use the airport DHCP and NAT, bypassing the DHCP of the modem?
Thanks,
Y.

The disabling of the DHCP in the router is a must. Without first disabling the router, you will have DHCP conflicts.

• Aiport Base as a router?

Hello,
I am interested in getting an airport extreme base station but I don't want to use it as a wireless station for 2 of my devices, but rather as a router. Is this possible?
The first is my Mac Pro, and the second is my XBox 360. I don't want either of them to use wireless- so is it possible to plug both into the station and both of them will be connected to the internet?
Thanks!

I have an extreme setup as you ask about. An xbox and a Mac. The Xbox plays popular games with out having to trouble shoot NAT or other issues.
If you go wired, all you need to go is plug the WAN port of the extreme into a LAN port of your up stream router or modem (your ISP provided black box).
If you go wired from xbox/mac to extreme but wireless from extreme A to extreme B, you will need to setup the new extreme to extend the current network. Using the extend feature under wireless will turn off the WAN port...a good thing so that the error logging doe not keep showing no ethernet on WAN port errors.

• Clamshell iBook (indigo) can't find base station (Netgear router)

My first post on this forum. Now the proud owner of an indigo Clamshell iBook (OS 9.2.2)
I am using a Netgear router DG834G, a G3 snow iMac (OS10.3.9) as the base station, and a Dell PC is connected wirelessly to that. No problems at all.
I now want to connect an indigo Clamshell G3 iBook to the base station. (in fact, I have two of them)
The iBook is using Airport and running OS 9.2.2, and shows a strong router signal. The iBook TCP/IP has automatically updated all the values using DHCP, and the Router data page shows the iBook as "Connected", as well as its IP number (192.168.0.4) which was automatically assigned by the router. There is no encryption set up yet.
If you run OS 9 you will know this part...the iBook has a pull down window called "Base stations", to add new ones, but the Netgear router is NOT shown in it, and I can't add it. The box is empty, so I guess that's why I can't connect! All I get is an error message saying "check TCP/IP setttings or password". The default base station IP address (which I keep changing to the new one) is 10.0.1.1 (why?) My Netgear router is 192.168.0.1. The previous base station IP address still comes up, and I can't change it permanently. I don't have any password when prompted, (I tried the default one "public" ) so is that the main problem or is it something else? Is there a problem with Airport and non-Apple routers. I haven't seen this problem mentioned.
It seems as if I am 99% ready for internet conection
Thanks for your help. I've spent two days at it.

• Airport Extreme Base Station as router

I have a Mac Pro 1,1 Dual Core 2.66 GHz running OS X 10.5.8 but without an Airport Express card (not standard when I bought it in 2007).
Can I use an Airport Express or Extreme Base Station to connect without having to risk damaging the machine when installing an Airport Express card myself?
It sounds unlikely?

Hi Tesserax, I have a related question: I've just installed the new AX as the my main WiFi access point. I would like to use my old Airport Extreme Basestation (single band b/g/n) to connect my ethernet-only TV, PS3 and USB harddrive to the WiFi network. I expected to be able to use Airport Utilty to configure it to 'join' the network and provide access through the ethernet ports. I've used the AX in a similar setup in the past although it only has one ethernet port.
However, on the Airport Extreme Basestation I'm somehow only able to 'Create a network' or 'Extend a network'. I do not need to extend the WiFi network and concerned about the noticable bandwidth penalty.
Do you know if my desired setup is possible and how I can enable the 'join' mode?
Thanks in advance!

• Routing & Reference Operation Set

Hi All,
Could you guys please help me to understand the following will be grateful
What is the difference between Routing & Reference Operation Set?
When the Routing will be used?
When Reference Operation Set will be used?
What are all the advantages and disadvantages behind using Routing & Reference Operation Set in prodution?
At which Scenario Reference Operation Set is must?
Thanks in Advance

Hi,
Routing defines the sequence of operations that should be carried at a work center to make up a product.
In the operation you define the values for setting the machine and the machine time to prodduce a finished product for a particular base qty.
Routing is one of task list in PP module to carry out the production of finished and semi finished parts. it consists operation sequence which requires for manufacture finsihed and semi finished parts like operation 10. 20, 30...
Ref operation sets is use as template to create routing , rework order.
These are four types...
1) Routing and Ref operation sets (used is discreate manufacturing).
2) Rate routing and Ref rate routings (used in repetative manufacturing).
3) Recipe (used in process manufacturing)
Ref operation sets are repeated operations can be use for several products. you have use these always in rotuings.
For documents and PDF files you can download from the below link
http://mysapbi.blogspot.com/2007/01/sap-help-in-pdf-files.html
CA01 = Standard Routings
CA11 = Reference Operation Sets
CA21 = Rate Routings (used in Repetitive manufacturing only)
CA31 = Reference Rate Routing (used in Repetitive manufacturing)

• CK11N (Cost estimate with qty structure) Set Up time calcualtion

Greetings..
I have an following activity data for operation 10 with base qty 40.33 kg
Op.10 Set Up Time 10 min
Op. 10 Machine Time 20 min.
Now for this material when i create Cost Estimate with qty structure (CK11N) for this material, i m getting the result of costing itemization for costing based on COSTING LOT SIZE as 1 kg
Set Up time coming 10 min along with its cost.
Op. Time coming 0.496 min along with its cost.
But when i change costing based on USER ENTRY with entry equal to base qty of routing as 40.33 kg
Set Up time coming 403.33 min along with its cost.
Op. Time comming 20 min along with its cost.
Why set up time is multiplied by USER ENTRY qty.
It should give the set up time as 10 Min for USER ENTRY 40.33 kg.
Formula for Setup requirement is SET UP TIME (SAP005 = SAP_01)

HI,
Request you to check the Setup fromula in the work center Costing Tab screen. Also chech whether you are using any formula in the routing details in the User defined fields (which will be picked from the WORK center data.
Hope this will help you.

• Percentage based overhead based on target cost of actual production

Hello,
I'm trying to calculate percentage overhead (overhead as a % of total cost of production) using the usual overhead group, overhead key ,costing sheet, etc.
Also put the overhead group in the material master.
Although I am getting it correctly as part of product cost planning, when it comes to calculating this overhead on a production order, it does it based on 'total actual costs' posted to the order. I want it to calculate the % overhead based on the standard cost of actual production (the target cost).
I would really appreciate some help on this.

Hi
If that's the requirement, you can achieve through template allocation. Refer the doc contributed by arturo senosain
I use a workaround for such cases. Add an activity type in routing with activity quantity same as base qty of routing.. Say, 1 PC
Maintain the activity price as .15. And you are done

• Activity is calculated on Production Order Quantity based .

Hi Experts,
My requirement is Planned Activity cost should be calculated based on Production order Quantity. and not on timing mentioned in Routing.
For Example- My PO Quantity is 10 - and activity assigned rate is 1 then = 10 RS is my planned activity Price
IF PO quantity is 1 then planned Activity Price is 1 RS
pour some light on this
Regards,
Girish

Hi
Create an Activity Type and assign in work center / Routing... Keep the Activty Qty same as Base Qty in Routing....
if you create Prod Order for 10, system would automatically propose Qty as 10.... Assign a fully variable formula in the work center to this activity
Then maintain a price for this n KP26

• Order Component quantity gets changed after operation confirmation

Order Component quantity gets changed after operation confirmation.
We are using CO27 to issue the Material to the Order.
When we do the confirmation of operation. Component quantity attached to operation get changed.
Any solution for this.

Dear
Please Follow the Steps
1. Go into Co02 there u do production order with qty select the Component overview u find the Materials there please check hhow much is the qty of that particular material
EX: Production order qty for Header Material is 10 ea
then ur Compannets Qty is 10 or 20
depends on the Componet Qty the Operation takes place that is because u have maintatined a base qty in Routing and BOM
