Base Station appears to work but no internet? Please HELP!
Last night my internet and email was working fine. This morning I got no signal. I called the cable company and went through their diagnostics and determined that it is the Base Station I'm having problems with. When the modem is connected directly to my computer everything works fine, when I use the wireless I can't get on the internet or get email. The strange thing is that it says my airport is working and connected to the network. It also says that the basestation is connected to the internet but when I try to open a page I get nothing. Any suggestions?
I tried to setup my mother in laws brand new iBook, airport express and modem yesterday. I got it working when connected to the modem over ethernet and then set about adding the airport express. The first thing it did was upload verion 5.6 of the firmware and I then spend a number of hourse trying to get the thing working but it completely refused. The diagnostiocs said I was connected to the internet, but I could not connect to any servers. I called it a day and went back home.
Later last night I thought I would double check my own airport extreme settings to see if I could work out what I had done wrong. When I connected it asked if I wanted to upload the latest firmware so I said ok. I ended up with my setup in exactly the same situation. I then realised that it must be the 5.6 firmware that is causing the problem - but I couldn't even get on the apple website to find out what they were saying about it.
Anyway just got on now over dialup and there doesn't seem to be any mention of this problem other than this thread.
Has anyone else successfully uploaded 5.6 without getting this issue?
I'm currently downloaded 5.5.1 so I'll see if that fixes things.
I also noticed that I can't find a screen that lets you download 5.6 anywhere. Does anyone know if apple have withdrawn it?

If this is a brand new iPad - and I don't know where you can buy a brand new iPad 3, I would take it back to the store before going any further. It sound like the screen dies from what you are saying.

At my wits end. I have a a brand new Airport Express, a brand new Dell laptop running Vista Home Premium and an older model Westell Wirespeed DSL modem. Although I have a solid green light on the Airport base station, and have no problem communicating and printing wirelessly, I cannot connect to the internet. All indications from the Airport Utility show a normal connection with a signal strength of 'very good' to 'excellent'. I configured Airport to DHCP, which is what my ISP (Verizon) provides. Sometimes upon startup, my computer first tries to connect to an 'unknown network' and I have to manually switch to the Airport network I created. I've been through this at least half a dozen times, resetting the modem, the base station and re-setting up the network but no luck getting on the internet so far. What am I missing here? Thank you!If anyone happens to stumble on this, I solved the issue on my own. The TC/IPv4 protocol on the PC's wireless network properties was set to a static IP address. Once I reset it to dynamic, it worked fine.

however, I just got a brand new dell that is running vista premium, and I put my belkin wireless card that I was using in my old pc into the new one. found my network, applied to wep key and connected to the router without any problem...
but I can't go online! I never had a problem before, and I am using the same wireless card. my signal is excellent, so what might my problem be? I already tried rebooting the router, but no results. I had the same problem several months ago with my wife's laptop when we first got FIOS...but for the life of me I can't remember how I fixed it.
any suggestions? thank you so much in advanceIt sounds like your laptop doesn't have any - or the right - IP configuration. When you went through the network setup, did you tell it to use DHCP?
Some things to try (note, this is for XP but I'm guessing it hasn't change *too* much for vista):
From a command window, try typing:
ipconfig
It should show you your IP address and a default route (something other than zeros, probably a 192.168.x.x address).
If you don't get a valid IP and route, try running: ipconfig /renew
See if you can get to the router by pinging the default gateway address (from the ipconfig command). E.g.:
ping 192.168.0.1
If you still have no luck, try resetting the connection via the Network Connections panel:
Start->Control Panel
Double click Network Connections
Check for DHCP:
Right click on the wireless connection and select Properties
Click on Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click Properties
Make sure that "Obtain IP address automatically" is selected.
Click OK in both boxes.
Right click on the wireless connection and select Repair
If it still doesn't work, try right clicking on your wireless connection and select Disable, then again and select Enable and then Repair. -
MacBook problems with Snow base station - other laptops work fine

I just purchased a new MacBook to replace an iBook G4 800.
My snow base station works fine with the old iBook G4 (which has an extreme card) and with a borrowed PowerBook G4 Aluminum 1.5 GHz (also extreme card) but will not work with my new Mac Book. Every time I try to connect - I receive an error "There has been an error accessing "my name" 's network. Sometimes it will connect, other times (most of the time), it will not.
My MacBook connects fine to my neighbors Linksys access points and our work Lucent access points (which are b also - snow is b).
I did a search and am reading other people having similiar problems. I was wondering if anyone has resolved their problems. I spent 2 plus hours on the phone with Apple yesterday. They are placing the blame on the older base station (snow) but it is obvious that snow is working fine for other computers.
TheresaI am still a little confused. I can be 2 feet from my base station and will keep hitting "try again" when trying to access my network and will get "an error has occurred" many times and eventually it will connect and I will have an incredibly strong signal. My MacBook will continue to have a great strong signal until it goes to sleep and then I will have a difficult time connecting again. My neighbors base station is a weak signal and I can easily join their network. Every time I connect, I have problems but once connected, it is great.
I guess it can be interference but I am now wondering if it is related to the snow/graphite base station only. This laptop has no problems joining other b base stations.
I spent hours on the phone with an Apple wireless support specialist the other night. He wants me to try an Extreme base station. He didn't indicate that he was aware of any MacBook problems (and he mentioned interference and we setup my laptop to only join my network and it didn't make a difference).
More to come.... IF anyone switched to a Extreme Base Station and that worked fine - please let me know. Though I sort of resent having a functional b base station that works with every other laptop and have to spend $200 towards another base station because of a new laptop. -
I have a desktop machine windows 7 based with CS5 loaded and working without problem. I have recently purchased a laptop running 8.1 windows. I have loaded the cs5 package onto the laptop and it appears to work but when I try to update, although I am being told there are updates it attempts to download the update but then tells me there is a problem and to quit and try again later.. I have tried a number of times to download the updates but itkeeps telling me to quit and try later. what is wrong please?
There could be a 32 bit vs 64 bit issues-is the old machine a 32 bit? and what is the new machine as far as 32/64 bit. I am not sure now if CS5 has in the help menu of the PS app the selection to update within PS if so that might work. I know that the Creative cloud app for installs updates etc has caused me much consternation over the last couple few years. Last it could be something like your Software firewall settings or anti-virus anti malware programs. I know that updating the infamous adobe flash that Internet Explorer pop ups setting and having AV turned on as opposed to off can interfere or plain break the update ability

Well, it could be that your carrier doesn't have a signal when it looses its signal. You could try resetting network settings which might help - Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings. You'll need to set up any wi-fi networks you connect too again. If you're still having issues, contact your carrier.

I admit, it's been awhile since I synchronized. Just did so, and all appeared right with the world, the handheld made the appropriate noises and showed the appropriate actions and same on the computer (XP, connect as always have through USB). In other words, they appeared to "talk" and said they were synchronizing. But my data (like important calendar entries) is simply not there. Nothing. Nada. Nothing recently added.
I tried repeating it several times. Yes, I have the system set up so that desktop overrides handheld. So what's up? Used this a lot in the past, never had this happen.

Using XP and the original hot sync that came with palm and that I've always used--no changes. Help????

I have a Palm Z22 and Windows Vista--things were going great until a few days ago when I noticed that the palm weren't connecting. The Hotsync process proceeds normally, there are no problems noted in the hotsync log, and yet things do not travel from the computer to the palm and vice versa. I've tried pretty much everything: I know the palm is connected to the desktop, not Outlook; I have tried soft and hard resets; I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times; I know the username is correct.
I suspect the problem has something to do with Vista; when I restored my computer to a previous time it started working fine but this morning it stopped again. The computer may be automatically updating in a way that is preventing the Palm Desktop software (verson 4.2) from working. Version 6.2 seems to work but I really hate it--there's no color schemes or categories. If someone could help me out with this I would really, really appreciate it.

I've had my iPhone 4 for about 4 months now, and suddenly some apps aren't working. They open and appear to work, but as soon as you try to do something it doesn't load. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it. I also force shut down my phone. I synced it to iTunes. Nothing is working. Does anyone know what I can do?Basic troubleshooting steps oultlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
You need to go through all steps in succession until your problem is solved. If going through ALL these steps fails to resolve your issue, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible replacement. -

Try this:
1. Reset the iPhone by pressing and holding the sleep/wake and home buttons and releasing them, when the Apple logo appears on the display. Now test again.
2. If the issue persists: Restore the iPhone without any of your own content, using this description from Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
3. If the issue persists, Your iPhone need repair. -

No calls are going through or coming in, also my sms/mms does not work the only thing that seems to be working is mobile internet anyone help???
When I try calling someone it beeps twice and says 'call failed' also when someone tries calling me it does not come through. Also SMS/MMS cannot be sent or recieved. Only mobile internet is working

ANYONE HELP???Restart your phone by holding the power and home button until the Apple logo appears. If that does not solve the issue contact your cell provider so they can resolve the issue.
