Base system driver request during Win7 upgrade

In updating from Vista to Win7 and following Toshiba update wizard everything seem to be going fine, and then just before it started the Win7 install it ask for base system driver.
I do not know where it is or how to get it, resulting in my being stuck between installations.

This must be smartcard driver card reader.
Can you please test it?

    Hello
Sorry but I have checked it right now and there are listed more than 100 files for Satellite Pro A30.
I really dont know what you mean with Base system driver but if you want to install the chipset driver you can find them there.
I am not sure but this unit has no SD slot and it is no necessary to install any SD driver. Am I right?

  • Can not remove mac osx base system drive

    Hi folks..
Just trying to do a complete clean install of Mountain Lion. I booted up from a USB and erased the Macbook hardrive completely.
However I see a second drive/partition below that says 'disk2 - Mac OSX Base system' and it's about 2 gigs in size. I want to wipe and delete this too so that I will have just one single partion but disk utility will not letr me even touch it.
The 'erase' and Security options are greyed out and inactive and there is some text to the right that says: "This is the start up partition you can not erase it".
I don't see how it can be a start up partition as it's only 2 gigs in size and the main 750 gig drive has already been wiped.
How can i get rid of this drive/partition completely?
    Thanks.

That's Mt. Lion's Recovery volume which you could have used to erase the working volume and do a clean install of Mt. LIon.  To get rid of it you may have to try to repartition the entire drive with Disk Utility.
Otherwise, reboot with the Command+R keys held down to boot into the Recovery volume.  Once there run Disk Utility to again erase the working volume and then do an install of Mt. Lion. This method is much easier and quicker than doing it from the USB device.

  • Re-partitioning hard drive, XP to Win7 upgrade

Realizing that my existing XP Boot camp (3.0.1) partition was not going to be large enough for Win7, I deleted my existing partition along with my XP installation.
    Two issues
1- I now cannot partition my newly un-partitioned hard drive in Boot Camp. I got some message about the memory already being used, and the need for a journaled format.
According to Disk Utility, my HD format is Mac os extended (journaled). My RAID type is Mirrored RAID type.
Any ideas how to get my disk to partition? I did zero out all the free space on the drive before trying to partition.
2- To get to Win7, do I now have to reinstall XP, upgrade Boot Camp to 3.1, install Win7?
Another problem I seem to have is that i bought an Upgrade version of Win7. Is that going to work for me?
Thanks in advance for any help. NEIL

    Hi Neil,
1- I removed my previous boot camp partition. My Mac HD is mac osx extended (journaled). raid type is mirrored raid set, but raid size is 0 kb. What should my settings be, and where do i change them?
So you have a RAID set with Disk Utility but are not using it ?
What exactly is the 'layout' of your harddisks ?
If you don't use that once set RAID, it might be best to clean house right now and get rid of it.
Disk Utility can do this, but you have to backup your OSX first, since undoing a RAID deletes the content of the HDs/partitions in it.
2- in your post, you reference the following link within a thread http://codesociety.com/2008/10/23/boot-camp-cannot-partition-disk-files-could-no t-be-moved-error/ but this page is jibberish. Any other advice on what to do when boot camp cannot partition?
Sorry, seems that that page is gone for bad.
Like said, the BootCamp Assistant needs to find a free contigeous amount of diskspace of the size you specify in the BCA when partitioning.
That error you get implies that the BCA can not find it.
Have a look at my other posts in the thread I linked to, on how-to use an external harddisk and something like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your OSX back and forth to get the needed free diskspace for the BCA.

    Hi there,
    What I have:
    * I have problem with installation of the Mac OS X Panther v10.3 on iMac.
    * I have 3 original CDs (black with silver X).
    What I did:
    * I made new 1 partition and formated disk as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) over the Disk Utility in the first CD as normal without additional options (if I tried to format disk with zero all data and 8 way random write format after 3 days computer freeze)
    * I verified disk over this utility - that was ok - HFS volume verifed.
    * Then I restarted the computer and ran installation from this first CD
    What happened:
    * installation did not finish, because there were some problems during installation process.
    * i tried to customize installation just for essential work (without other languages support, printers etc), but it was still the same problem
    Installation log:

It seems like a problem with reading some data from the CD, but during the installation checking of disk was ok.. maybe it can be problem with the cd-rom..? Or problem with data on cd-rom - I mean bad archive file..? But it is original CD.. What do you think??

    2. Erase the main hard drive, and then boot from "OSX base system"
If someone upgraded my macbook to mountain lion, did that upgrade also include a recovery partition and is that what one of these options is?

  • Base System Device driver in WIndows 7

I recently installed WIndows 7 on my Lenovo 3000 G430 system, and all the drivers except for a few got installed automatically during the installation process...
But then I noticed in Device Manager, I have 2 devices that are listed under 'Other Devices' that don't have a driver installed. I tried a direct search for drivers online, but it couldnt find any.
Both of them are by the title 'Base System Device'.
I checked the Lenovo wesite for drivers, but there are no drivers listed for WIndows 7. A few guys had raised this issue in the forum previously too, but they were not using Windows7, and I did not have this issue when I was using Vista...
    Please help...

    Hi tusharkaul,
Try below to identify what components they are.
Check the Device ID to find our its description:
Right click the unknown device and choose Properties.
    Go to 'Details' tab.
Choose 'Hardware ids' from the Property drop down list
Take the IDs and google them and find out the descriptions of the devices. You should know what you are missing.

  • Running R/3 4.7 on a Windows Server 2008 System during an upgrade

    Dear all,
I am plannung an upgrade project from R/3 4.7x200 to ERP6.0. The system is running on MaxDB. It's a single stack ABAP System.
Currently the system is running on a 32 bit Windows Server 2003. During the project we want to go to a new x86 64bit hardware with OS Windows Server 2008.
In order to use the speed of the new hardware also during the upgrade I want to move the systems to the new HW before starting the upgrade.
The problem is that runnning R/3 4.7 on Windows Server 2008 is not supported by SAP. On the other hand running the target release ERP6.0 on Windows Server 2008 is officially supported by SAP. This information comes from the PAM.
From the past I know that SAP allowed to run unsupported DB, OS and Release combinations during an upgrade project but I didn't find any information which fits to my situation.
Does anyone have experience with this constellation? Is there an official statement concerning this request?
    Thanks for you support!
    Regards
    Bernd

    > So I opened the OSS Message (0000594749) to the component you mentioned but the support answered that this would be a consultant task to support me in this area (?!?)....
I know one person who works for/in this component who did this several times to me too.
    > They asked me to open a thread here in SDN.
    That person did that too.
    > I send the message back to SAP and stated that I disagree with the statement that the confirmation of platform support is consulting...but until now I have no feedback.
Just insist on a statement. If you still get the message back, contact the CIC (support dot emea at sap dot com) since you seem to be located in the UK according to your business card) and ask them to give you a different message processor.
    > So I hoped someone already has some official statement from SAP.
Those special support statements are valid for a specific installation only so even if someone would have it for their installation it may not be valid for yours.
    > We would be running Production with release 4.7 on Windows 2008 for 3 weeks or so...and I will need official support for that, just for the case something goes wrong...
I don't think this should be a problem. Technically the kernel supports it (according to the note) and also the database.

  • Upgraded to windows 7 now my Base System Device and Fingerprint Reader isn't working!

I recently upgraded from Windows Vista Business to Windows 7 Ultimate and my Base System Device and Fingerprint Reader isn't working.  I've tried reading advice off of some forums here and even checked out what I can download from this site and also tried updating but each time it either says could not find updates, or when I  try dowloading from this site it says the program may have not installed correctly.  I'm stuck I don't know what else I can do, can someone help, I would appreaciate it greatly!
    CheerGurl313

Ah if only life were so simple. I have been without a soundcard ever since upgrading to Windows 7, have spent hours on the Lenovo site trying to locate a driver, filling in all those little boxes, time after time to no avail. The drivers, if they exist at all, are being kept secret. There can be no other explanation. Have the same problem with the fingerprint thingy, but not bothered as the kids had learnt to bypass it anyway.
Enjoying windows 7 in complete silence. If anyone wants to advise downloading a driver then fantastic, but give us a clue where it is hidden.

  • How do I install base system on external drive to boot MacBook Pro?

I have a MacBook Pro 2.2 core 2 duo. I use an external HD for storage. Want to make external drive bootable (i.e. to run apps like DiskWarrior on MacBookPro).
How do I install the base system?
    Thank you.

First, be sure the external drive is partitioned using the GUID partition scheme. If it isn't then you will have to re-partition the drive which will erase anything you have on the drive.
Second, the external drive must be formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
Last, boot from the OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer and install OS X onto the external drive. Do not do an Erase and Install if you don't want to erase the external drive. You can customize the installation to omit any additional components you don't need such as language localizations, Asian Fonts, unneeded printer drivers, etc.

  • CPU upgrades, RAIDing system drive, and more

Final Cut Studio user... editing on an iMac is murder... need more power Scotti! I intend to buy a Mac Pro next week, either BTO or retail, not sure yet!
I know that CPUs on Mac Pro's are socketed and not soldered. Yipee! Is it confirmed that CPUs are truly upgradable? My usual Mac vendor wasn't convinced.
I know it's possible to RAID 0 or 1 data drives, but is it possible to RAID 0 the system drive? I was thinking about getting a couple of Raptor drives for a performance increase. Also I imagine that the current BootCamp won't be able to manage that.
Speaking of Bootcamp, can Windows be on another drive other then on a partition of the system drive?
My same Mac vendor seemed to think that Bluetooth and AirPort are only BTO and not upgradable (even from a certified repair center). But I see posts that say otherwise. What's the concensus on this?
Will be using existing CRTs off my old PC for now. I assume that any standard DVI-VGA adaptor will do? Or are there variations in those adaptors that I need to be aware of?
    iMac G5 20, 1.8GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Is it confirmed that CPUs are truly upgradable?
Given the socket nature it's potentially possible. Until there's are actually chips out there to actually try it no-one really knows if it's possible or even worthwhile.
but is it possible to RAID 0 the system drive?
    Yes.
Speaking of Bootcamp, can Windows be on another drive other then on a partition of the system drive?
    Yes… any internal drive.
My same Mac vendor seemed to think that Bluetooth and AirPort are only BTO and not upgradable
Yes they are upgradeable after purchase but is a service centre job. While it is probably possible to do the job yourself you would still need to source the part.
I assume that any standard DVI-VGA adaptor will do?
Yes, the Mac comes with at least one DVI to VGA adapter.

  • How do I tell Win7 that the D (not system drive) is where my documents are?

I re-partitoned my disk. I now have one disk of 160 GB (C drive) where the System installed and where I plan to load applications/programs and one disk of 250 GB (D drive) where I plan to store my data.
But by default, the Users Directory is on the C drive, but all my data is on the D drive,. This impacts Library and a number of prgrams
Is there a way to tell the system that my default data is stored on the D drive?

    Hi,
The programe should be installed in the system drive in order to work normally, the default location can not be changed, I am afraid.
By changing the default location of the user profile directories or program data folders to a volume other than the system volume, you cannot service your Windows installation. Any updates, fixes, or service packs cannot be applied to the installation.
We recommend that you do not change the location of the user profile directories or program data folders.
Using the ProgramData setting to redirect folders to a drive other than the system volume will block your ability to upgrade to future versions of Windows.
