Based document series need to be copied to target document

Hi,
There are 4 document series for every marketing document as Manufacturing - Series 1, Trading - Series 2, Retail - Series 3, Wholesale - Series 4, Shoppers - Series 5.
Now User A is been given permission / authorization for document series 1 and 2 which is for Manufacturing and Trading and user B is given permission for document series 3,4 and 5 for Retail, Wholesale and Shoppers. Now when user B makes a sales order in say Wholesale which is document series 4 and then makes a delivery based on the sales order it is seen that in delivery note he has to again select the document series manually which is series 4 Wholesale. Why it is not possible to copy the based document series to the target document.
Again for example user A makes PO in series 1 which is Manufacturing and then makes a Good Reciept PO then again he has to select the document series in the target document as 1 manually.
Is there any way by which the base document series can be copied to the target document without manually selecting the same as its creates a mess if the user forgets to select the document series in the target document....Means SO is made in in Wholesales and Delivery is done in Shoppers. No default series also can be done as in any series as per requirement the user does the base document and he wants that once he put the series in the base document then automatically while doing the target document the base document series should be selected.
Kindly let me know is there any possibility in SBO 2005B.

Dear Shamseer,
Default series has been set for that particular user. But for that user only 2-3 series are defined as per clients requirement. Now user wants that once in the base document the series is selected. All the corresponding target document should come with the same series ( Note all marketing document has the same series name but have diffrent series number )

Indesign CS6 crashes when copying pages between documents

I have two documents and I want to copy 28 pages from one to the other. Indesign crashes on any form of attempt. What I tried so far:
1. Copy pages per drag and drop, ID would then ask where to insert, I selected "at the end". Crash.
2. Save both documents as IDML, then opened the IDMLs, saved as INDD (to erase possible document structure corruptions), closed and opened both INDDs again, then drag and drop. Crash.
3. Selected the 28 pages from the source document, selected "Insert pages" from mini menu of pages panel, then set what pages to use, where to put ("At the end") and target (the other document). Crash
4. Tried both, "Insert pages" and drag 'n drop, with different target position "At the beginning". Crash.
5. Saved a copy of the source document, reduced it to contain only those 29 pages I want to copy, then drag and drop to target. Crash.
6. Tried vice versa, means copy all target document's pages to the source document. Crash.
Any idea how I can get the pages over to the target? There is unfortunately no "Append pages from file" in the mini menu.

I would try another one with each of these documents.
Create a new document with 2 pages.
Name the master pages so, that their names are not conflicting with neither of these 2 document’s masters.
Delete every style in that empty document, also any swatch
No drag the pages of the first document into such an empty document.
Do the same step 1 to 4 with the second document in a NEW empty document.
Now you have 2 new documents. Take care that no conflicting master names appear.
In each of these documents create in each style panel a folder and drag all used styles in that folder.
Save both documents
Try again to insert the pages of both documents.
Otherwise, it this does not work out, could you send me via private message the files or a link. I would check it with a Debugging Version of InDesign (InDesign DEV) I can use to find errors.

Freight Amount not shown in Target Documents

Hi ,
I have created a Purchase order with Freight Charges , But when i m copying the PO to Targets Documents(i.e GRPO, Invoice) then Freight amount is Not appeared . Pls suggest what to do in this case .

Check this
Administration -> General -> Setup ->Freight - Setup Window
Drawing Method Specify the required calculation method of the freight per row. The calculation method you select becomes evident when you copy rows from a base document to a target document. The options are:
None u2013 No freight will be copied to target document.
Quantity u2013 The amount is divided into the item quantity and each unit carries the same amount of freight.
Total u2013 SAP Business One calculates which part of the document total or row total is copied to the target document. It then adds the relative amount of the document or row freight to that target document.
All u2013 Copies all the freight to the target document.

Hi Navanath,
By Setting up Series User wise for every Users, You can achieve your goal.
you can set Series User wise from below Path : Administration >> System Initialization >> Document Numbering
After following Path, double click on Document Name No then another window will get open when you can create Series and also make that Series default according to user.
For doing Series to Default for any user, Select that Series which you want to make Default than Select "Set as Default" Option from right Lower Corner of the window.
When You Select one Option from Below Screen Shot
Select Last Option i.e. St as Default for Certain User. As soon as you will Select last Option then a new window will get open to Select Users.
Select Users for that Series and Click on Update on Left Lower Corner of the Form.
This Process you need to follow for every User for whom you want to assign Series for their transaction Identification.

Document serie cannot be copied

When copying documents the serie set in the base document
is NOT considered. By definition in a new document the serie suggested
by the system is the one set as default.
We would like to link the base document with all following documents in terms of series.

Does this mean that i need to post a new payment document or try to
adjust with the old document.But if i have to do how will i be ableto
achieve this as the old document is alrady reset and a new document has
been posted which is not a payment document.
This error we have faced for the first time. Please guide us how to

Based on the SC item category or ........ etc    the PO document type must be choosen
ex: If SC item is   LIMIT item then when ur creating the po The PO document type must be zlimit PO ...some thing like
same way for service   --- PO doc tyep may be Zsercie PO
and same way for catalouge - PO doc type may be Z cat PO
please guide me how to do this
Basaed on the SC item the PO doc type need to be automaticlly choosen.

Journal entry series based on base document series

We defined series starting with 141 and 142 for two locations for almost all document types. When I post a document (A/P invoice or outgoing payment or any other), the journal entry is getting posted with default series (141) instead of being based on the Origin document series (141 for 141 and 142 for 142). Is there any way to configure this?

JE numbering document can not base on origin document. But they can be set default by user only. That is system behavior.

In most cases you can just select the text and copy/paste. You can do that unless the file is a picture/scan.

Another document series- do I need to tick Permit More than one doc type?

Im thinking of creating another document series for Goods Return and Credit Notes to be used only when they are created due to user errors in GRPO o AP Invoices.
In order to do this, Do I need to tick the option of "permit more than one doc type per series"?

If you select "permit more than one doc type per series", you must know the consequence. It may cause you more troubles when you want to distinguish the document types within the series.

Update copied to multiple documents

Hi
We have a requirement to update a property or value within a document such as expiry date and for this update to automatically copied to multiple documents on different sites and libraries.
We need to edit a 'master copy' and have this change copied to all other documents based on the 'master copy'. We would appreciate any suggestions. We are thinking of using workflow rules and the update list item action but are unsure if there is better
options.
Would we possibly be able to use the document information panel and have the update copied to other documents based on a template?

Just to let you know, I am considering using a Slist and a custom document information panel.
The data will be changed in the list and then using a data connection within the document information panel, be copied to the quick parts within the word document.
The word document will reside on a different site and library and when opened will receive data from the list (master copy), the data will then be copied to the quick parts within the document.
Does anyone foresee any issues with this approach?
I would like to refresh the document automatically without reopening the document. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Copy pages between documents

Hello there,
I'm trying to compile a final .indd file based on different documents pages. To do that, i'm loading a XML file with the names of the files I need and the page I need .
exemple of my XML:

     <file url="firstDoc.indd" page="2" />
      <file url="secDoc.indd" page="5" />
     <file url="thirdDoc.indd" page="1" />
</files>
There is no probleme to load that XML and parse it. I can open the file and get the right page, but I don't know how can I copy these pages in a single new document.
Is there any copy function ? or move function ? that can do that easily ?
I've got a function like that for now:

Document Series

Dear Experts,
I have created different different document series for marketing documents such as 'MEL', 'PER', 'SYD'.
Now suppose, I create a Sales Order using series 'MEL'. My requirement is if I copy this Sales order to delivery, then the document series on the delivery should also be selected as 'MEL' automatically.
how can I do that ?

Document numbering series depends on the user who is adding the document. Due to that, for example if the user who created a Sales Order is the same user than the one who is creating the Delivery and he has got assigned same document series as the default one for Sales Orders and for Deliveries on Document Numbering customization, system will propose the same series than the one one in the Sales Order. Or if it is a different user, but both user have got assigned same series, it will also work as desired.
The problem would be if the user who is Copying from the Sales Order into the Delivery has got assigned different series than the user who created the Sales Order. In that case system will propose the series who is assigned as default series to the user who is creating the delivery, no matter what the series on Sales Order is.
I think you could block a user from adding a Delivery if its series does not match with Sales Order's one using Transaction Notification. But I do not think that there is a way to making system always propose the series based on related document series.

HELP! JOB ON THE LINE- Need to import fields from one document to another document

In a nutshell I have a set of documents and we now have a new structure for those documents. Either I have to cut and paste all the data from one to another or figure out how to import fields to another document.
I have two documents. Both are different but require the same information. Basically I need to have one file with fields import specified fields from another document. Ex., Name on document 1, I need the file to know to get the Name field on document 2 and import it into the specified field on document 1. I will have multiple fields that need to do this importing. I REALLY NEED TO FIGURE THIS OUT B/C I HAVE A TON OF DOCUMENTS THAT NEED TO BE COMPLETED.

If you are talking about the field structure, not the content that Bernd commented on, make a copy of the document with the fields. Open the file and use replace pages to replace the pages with the new document layout. After you have replaced the pages, you will have to select the field tools and move the fields to the proper location. If the form was made in Designer, I am not sure of the process. There is likely a similar process in Designer, but I don't use Designer and can't comment. You may have to go to the Designer forum in such a case, unless other Acrobat users here can help.
