Baseline for Windows 2012 R2?

Hello,
Does anybody know when the Baseline for Windows 2012 R2 will be available? We want to start using 2012 R2 but without a Baseline we will run into compliancy issues

I have also found a new and updated link to the *NEW* Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK) for Windows 8.1 at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39982 that was released and published on 2013-Oct-17.

Officejet 6830 support for windows 2012

Can anyone assist with installation of HP officejet pro 6830 drivers/software on Windows 2012. The HP literature states that Windows 2012 is supported but here are no available drivers available for Windows 2012. The Windows 8.1 and 2008 drivers do not install in Windows 2012. Any assistance is appreciated.

Script Issue for Windows 2012 R2 or 2012 Operating Systems

I have this login script that works on older operating systems but fails to run under Window 2012 R2 for users when the login; its setup as a active directory domain user logon policy: Im not much with scripts ..any help you could provide would be great

I would like to ask about subnet design and switch layout in regards to using a Windows 2012 ISCSI solution. When you guys design subnets for ISCSI configurations do you use one subnet or multiple subnets? Also do you link the switches together when
designing your ISCSI layouts? These types of things are normally discussed in vendor deployment guides. However, I have not come across a best practices guide for deploying Server 2012 ISCSI.

For iSCSI you typically create a separate subnets around physical NICs you use for iSCSI traffic (assuming they are used by iSCSI target for MPIO of course). Here are few guides on how to do that (some for Windows Server 2008 R2 but you can ignore that fact
as target itself did not change much and concepts are still the same). See:

You need however be aware of a couple of facts...
1) MSFT does not see much future in iSCSI and is replacing it with SMB3 where it can. So if you want to use iSCSI to provide shared storage to your guest VMs you need to use shared VHDX hosted on SMB3 share, see:

If you plan to use iSCSI to host CSV and VM images there you again can use SMB3 share, see:

That's both simpler to manage (you don't configure anything except teaming for NICs to enable SMB Multichannel and create a shared folder in a few clicks) and faster: MSFT iSCSI target is not cached @ server side while (OK, Hyper-V ovens VMs in a pass-thru
mode but other users typically don't do that). SQL Server is the same as Hyper-V in terms of SMB3 support, Windows clusters support SMB3 share as a witness and so on.
2) That's a single point of failure. Think about using SoFS instead of a single SMB3 share and think about clustering your target (you'll need a separate fault tolerant back end of that) to increase uptime. See:

Admt for Windows 2012

Is there any news about ADMT becoming available for 2012. ADMT v3.3/v4 ??
I'm in a migration-project where new/target domain is already in place (DFN/FFN 2012), and I would like to save us the trouble of having to downgrade the domain before we can migrate accounts and all.

Hi Erik,
The Latest version available is ADMT 3.2 and it is supported in windows 2008 R2. I haven't come across any updates for the availability of the new version to support windows 2012.
When you migrate to a Windows Server 2012 domain, install ADMT 3.2 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server that can operate as the migration computer. You have to have a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller in the target environment.

Deduplication for Windows 2012

hi gurus, just want to check.
if i enable the deduplication on one of my shared folder.
The duplicate of the file will be replaced by a hard link right?
What if one of the user happens to copy the hard link to a thumb drive?
How would that be, user will get the whole file or just the hard link?

Win12 deduplication process seperates the files in small chunks (32Kb-128Kb) and checks for duplicates among these chunks, therefore the deduplication happens on chunk level and not on file level.
If you copy a file from a shared folder to a thumb drive, the file will be assembled transparently from those chunks and the whole file will be copied.

Please Help: Setup up a e-mail Server for Windows 2012 Server Essentials ??

I am currently working on a PHP site and could use some help with ideas and suggestions to solve my problem. The website that I am working on is a Members Only Site, so when a user initially signs up, the server should automatically send an e-mail confirming the user so that he/she can finish being registered. I have never set up an email server before and would very much appreciate some help. Should I install a third party app to send emails for the server, or is there a way to have my server send the e-mails? I have tried looking at videos on Youtube, but they tend to be for more experienced individuals and less for NOOBS..Please HELP!!

I havent been able to find a guide so I have been guessing trying to setup the email server. Basically ive tried to setup a user email [email protected] (syncuser is also the account I use to sync my calendar and contacts)
I have turned on the mail server, made a new account on my Mac in mail:
Description: OS X Server
Email Address: [email protected]
Full Name: syncuser
Incoming Mail Server: myserver.local
User Name: syncuser
In the user account I have added the email address.
Im guesing I have to make the mail account somewhere in the server settings but I cant find anything. If turn off SSL in the mail settings I at least get a response from the server:

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “OS X Server” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “myserver.local” on port 143 failed (error 49: Can't assign requested address)

Alerting for System Event 6005 on Windows 2012 R2 clients.

I am trying to figure out why an Event is not showing up in the Windows System Log except when a Filter is applied.
So, open up, on the same server (2012 R2), side-by-side, two windows showing the System Log. On the RHS window only apply a filter for Event ID 6005.
Then try and find the top 6005 Event on the LHS window (which has no filter applied). The event is not there.
What am I doing wrong?? I cannot get SCOM to trigger an alert for 6005 as the Event is not showing up on 2012 R2.
(This behavior is not occurring for Windows 2012 or 2008 R2 or 2003 R2)

never go for event id monitor/rules for shutdown of a server, as scom agent will be stopped on shutdown and agent will not able generate alert for shutdown.
SCOM has default monitoring for Heartbeat to alert on server down

If the heartbeat interval is x and count is y then scom will generate alert if agent is down for x*(y-1) (example: if heartbeat interval is 120 and count is set to 3 then scom will generate alert if agent is down for 240 seconds.i.e you will never get an alert
if agent reboot <240 sec.
The port monitoring is best way to monitor serve availability.

It's showing do not have feature of .Net Framework 3.5 and installation is getting closed suddenly. I tried to download .Net Framework3.5 but not able to install it as showing not supported or showing alternet path. I am not holding any CD/DVD of Windows
2012 server. Only ISO.
