Bash not available in Software Updates

When checking in software updates for Bash patch, it shows no updates available for either a Mavericks machine or a Mountain Lion machine. Who knows why going through software update doesn't show anything available.
I did get the download at Apple - Support - Downloads (http://support.apple.com/downloads)

I installed update for BASH 1.0 as instructed during support phone calls Saturday - my computer States Successful - BUT I can't find it listed in my updates - should I install BASH update as told by senior advisor yesterday , a second time?

  • HP Driver "Can't install because it is not available from Software Update Server"

Proplem: Can't use my HP Officejet 6500 E709n on my MacBook Pro, even using USB connection.    I click on sign, get add printer window showing the HP 6500 printer as USB Multifunction.  I select and press 'add'.  I get 'setting up ...' window.  After a while I get the error window, "Can't install the software for the HP Office jet 6500 E709n because it is not currently available from Software Update Server."  Only option is cancel.
HP site says that it supports Mountain Lion and the only way to get the driver is through Apple's Software Update.
Apple's site says Mountain Lion supports HP 6500 printer.
The Windows 7 computer on the netword prints fine to it.
I would really like to get this connected.  Does anyone have a clue why the driver is not on the Software Update Server what the fix is?
    Thank you for the help.

Fantastic, Mene1 & John.  Thank you.  I deleted the HP Folder, deleted trash, reboot, and reinstalled.  USB installed like a charm.  Was able to print and scan.   I even noticed that the Fax printer came up for both USB and 192.168.1.65.  I installed the fax printer for the network and it works great without USB.
However, the network for the printer never showed up in the list.  I tried IP option and entered the address.  It correctly identified the printer in the "use" field.  However, when I click on 'add' is has a window that says, "Unable to verify the printer on your network.  Unable to contact to '192.168.1.65' due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?"   I choose Continue, and it creates the printer.  Printing, it just sits there trying to connect with the printer.    Again, the printer is hardwired into my home network and I am using my AT&T U-verse Wi-Fi connection to my MacBook Pro (which works for Fax on the printer).
    Any ideas?

  • Canon MG5220 driver not available on Software update server

I'm receiving the following error everytime I attempt to add the Multifunction Canon MG5220 printer ... Connected via USB and WiFi both modes fail to install the printer driver.
"Can't install the software for the canon MG5220 series becasue it is not currently available from the software update server"
I've downloaded drivers from the Canon site, however the Mac continues to attempt to reach the update server to get the driver without success. So I've not been able to print.
Strangley enough, the scanner driver portion is seen, but not the printer.

Resolved after downloading and running the setup file for this multifunction printer from Canon site.

  • Software not available from software update server

I have a MacBook Pro, mid-2009, 2.53 GHz; 8 GB memory, running OS X 10.9 (13A603). Yes, I upgraded to Mavericks just this afternoon. And now I want to use Boot Camp to install Windows 7. This is the first time I've tried to do this.
I read through all the information I could find about using BCA. I know my machine won't run Win 8, so I'm going with Win 7. I finally found a thumb drive that was big enough for the job and reformatted it. I launched BCA, and it headed for the download thing. But then it hit a snag: a little error box that reads, "Can't install the software becase it is not currently available from the Software Update server."
I have no idea what that means, so please ... someone tell me what to do next. Please, please don't tell me that I can't get there from here.
For what it's worth, my machine started out running Snow Leopard, and I've dutifully upgraded every time a new OS comes out.

I got past this problem with help from another post in this forum. Now I have another problem: an error that interrupts the partitioning. I'll ask about that in a new post if I can't find an answer here.

  • Since I installed Mountain Lion operating system, I cannot print.  I have a HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one printer.  I get a message when I try to update the software "Server not available  The software update service is currently not available."

After installing Mountain Lion, my printer doesn't work.  I know it is connected as it shows up,  The message is:
"The printer software was installed incorrectly.  Please reinstall the software for this printer or conact the anufacturer for assistance."
I used the disk that came with the printer as when I go to the HP site, it tells me that Apple has the drivers needed.  I unistalled the printer and reistalled.  Previously, I just went to the HP website an everything worked fine for drivers, program, etc.  I never had to use the CD that came with the printer.  My printer is:  HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one, it is wireless, but I even took the computer and plugged it into the printer to make sure that everything was connected.  Can someone please help me to get this working,
    Thank you,
    Cheryl Paul

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Mavericks update not listed in software updates on server

I have several Mac clients enrolled with OS X server. They are set to look to this server for software updates to reduce bandwidth usage. When they search for the update, it is not available. The 10.9 update is not listed in Software Updates inside of OS X Server.app. Any ideas on how to import that so my users can download it?

A generational OS upgrade like Lion to Mountain Lion, or in this case Mountain Lion to Mavericks has never (and still is not) been counted as a software update and hence is not available via Apple Software Update Server.
Even though it is now free it is still done via the App Store. If/when a Mavericks update comes out e.g. 10.9.1 this will only update earlier Mavericks versions so will not help you. However as Mavericks is free for all compatible Macs the following are solutions you should be able to use.
Greg Neagle of Disney Animation Studios and the author of the administration tool Munki, has written another tool called createOSXinstallPkg which will let you take a full operating system as downloaded from the App Store and convert it in to an installer Pkg file which you can 'run' on a Mac to do an operating system upgrade.
    See http://managingosx.wordpress.com/2012/07/25/son-of-installlion-pkg/
I don't know if it has been tested or if it will work but in theory it would do Mavericks as well as Mountain Lion. You could therefore (hopefully) use it to build a pkg and push it to your clients via for example Apple Remote Desktop Administrator or Casper or something else.
In terms of bandwidth saving, while as mentioned above a Mavericks upgrade is not available via Apple Software Update Server and therefore running your own SUS will not help, you can run Apple's Cache Server which is another module in Server.app this will cache downloads from the App Store including the Mavericks download and thereafter anyone else requesting it will get it from your local cache.
    See http://krypted.com/mac-security/the-new-caching-service-in-os-x-server/
