Bash patch for Mountain Lion has been posted

Apple has just issued a patch for the Bash vulnerability and after installing it, it passes the three tests currently available. It hasn't yet turned up in Software Update but it's available from Apple Support.

It's over 4 GB, so depending on your network connection may take a while.
If you've gone over quota on your connection and your ISP has throttled you it will take even longer of course. Hopefully you're not using a connection where you pay by the MB!

  • Now that OSX Mountain Lion has been released, can I still buy OSX Lion to update my 2009 Mac?

I have a 2009 MacBook running OSX Snow Leopard with the latest update.  I wanted to upgrade to the new Mountain Lion but I got the message that my system couldn't run it.  So now I'm wondering if I can upgrade to the Lion 10.7 OS but I can't find it anywhere in the iTunes store or the Apple online store.  Plenty of places to download the 10.7.x upgrades but not the OS.  So, is it no longer available now that Mountain Lion has been released?  Or do I have to visit a store to buy the disk?

You have to Call Apple, 1-800-My-Apple, and order it over the phone. Apple will then send you a email with a Code in it to download it from the MAS.

  • OS X Mountain Lion has been updating for 2 days

Hi, i purchased the update two days ago, after downloading and installing, my macbook pro needed to restart, as expected. although, my computer is still not updated, it still displays the blue screen with the little wheel of death. Is it normal for this update to take more than 2 days? if not how to i stop it and restart it?

A new version of Mountain Lion 10.8.4 has just been released.  Maybe the MAS servers were down for the changes to be made.  I would turn off the computer by holding down the power button for several seconds and then restart it. Check the version you have installed, by going to"About this Mac"
If it says 10.8.3, go to Software Update and get the point release.  If it is still Snow Leopard, go to the Purchases tab and download the full installer again.

  • Why has my redemption code for Mountain Lion not been sent?

I signed up for the up-to-date thing at noon on July 25th and I have still not recieved the email from apple. I bought my macbook pro on June 19 and I am elligible for the update.

I submitted for mine 15 hours ago.  I posted a complaint and they deleted it right away after someone told me to call and complain.  Nice moderators on here.  Well I already did call and complain today.  You know what they told me?  Sorry, its the design of the program and you have to wait for your code just like everyone else and it could take up to 72 hours.  Nice help they offered.

  • Mountain Lion has been purchased, but won't download

I have purchased a copy of Mtn Lion, but can't get it to start downloading from the app store. It shows up in the "purchased" category. When I try to download it, all I get is the windmill like icon in the top left of the window by the arrows. If I switch categories, it stops, and it's like I was never downloading it in the first place. Any suggestions about how to get past this point?

Try to download from iTunes.  Restart your MacBook Pro and try again. Make sure your updated.

  • HT1338 OS X Mountain Lion has been he most disastrous thing that has ever happened to Apple

I keep thinking that the updates will umprove all the problems but this ast update affected my calendar.  I can no lnger imput an event and edit it into the proper calendar - is anyone else having this problem?  No can I any longer sync mp phone mail, contacts and calendar without it wiping them ot on weither my phone or my computer and calendar ill ony show up for the curren wee and surounding 3 weeks, all my years are gone, all y fture appointments are gone. Help?

    That's a bit of a run-on sentence, but:
    1)  You can also edit an event by selecting it and hitting "command-E" to edit it.
    2)  In Calendar preferences, there is a setting for default calendar.  Set it to the calendar you want events to be created in by default.
Open Calendar's help file for some more tricks:
Click Add at the top of Calendar.
Events are added to your default calendar.
To add the event to a different calendar, click and hold Add (+), and then choose a calendar.
To change your default calendar, choose Calendar > Preferences, click General, and then choose a calendar from the Default Calendar pop-up menu.If you set your default calendar to be the selected calendar, then whichever calendar is highlighted in the Calendar list is the default calendar.
You may wish to show the calendars in the sidebar by default if you want to regularly create events in a bunch of different calendars.

  • The download for Mountain Lion

The Download for Mountain Lion has been running for eight hours now. What's wrong???

Try clicking Store from the App Store menu bar top of your screen. From the drop down menu click Check for Unfinished Downloads.
If you have a slow internet connection, the download may have timed out before finishing.

I am still in the return window but i really do not want to return my mac as i know it has the ability to do what i want, my problem is just finding the software that will work as i know there has been a lot of complications with OS X Mountain Lion with softwares that caim to be compatible but then later turn out not to be.
I have been a windows user for years and this is really my first mac but apart from the hole software issue i find the mac 10x better than any windows computer i have ever used. For example i bought a HP laptop 4 weeks ago and has nothing but problems. At first the fans stopped working and making weird noises and then it began switching off when ever it felt like it and freezing like mad when i was trying to access the smallest program. I have found that now a days you dont get what you pay for with Windows especially since Windows 8 was released. Also Laptops such as HP now are just crammed with cheap parts, they dont take pride in their systems like they once used to unlike Apple. I know i will get more than a year or 2 out my mac (hopefully a lot more) but with windows systems it just seems to break all the time costing more money on extending warrantys. Also i like mac because i dont need to send it away if i ever get a problem, i can just take it into the apple shop half a mile down the road and they will fix it in store. Where as with windows i am waiting 2 weeks+ to just hear back from them.

  • For some reason osx mountain lion has disappeared from my purchases and now when i want to install mountain lion on another mac with the same apple id it wants to charge me for the program even though i have already purchased it. what do i do?

Open the Mac App Store on the other Mac and in the Quick Links sign into your account. See if the Mountain Lion purchase is among hidden apps in the iCloud area of your account info.

  • Install for mountain lion is not progressing - for about 3 hrs now. It went to the launch pad and just has a dot, saying it is "downloading", but no progress. Shouldn't i get a "time remaining" somewhere?

The Download is about 4GB, it depends on how fast your internet connection is and how busy Apple computers are. Have you any way of checking if your Internet is downloading, I.E activity lights on you router. My Internet is 8Mb/s download and it took just over an hour to download earlier today.
I am not sure about a "time remaining"icon.

  • HT1338 Attempt to install Mountain Lion has highlighted need for internal disk repair. Even after "repair" ML still says disk is damaged. Attempt to restore from Time Machine back-up failed - cannot 'see' internal HD to restore to. Help!

Attempt to install Mountain Lion has highlighted need for internal disk repair. Even after "repair" ML still says disk is damaged. Attempt to restore from Time Machine back-up failed - cannot 'see' internal HD to restore to. Help! Has attempt to install ML caused these problems or just highlighted existing need to Repair Disk? Even so, why can back-up from Time Machine not see the internal drive to restore to?

Csound1, William & Sig .... thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I fear you are right - I'll need a new disk. I'm booked in at the Apple Genius Bar in Bordeaux, France on Wed ... quite a challenge as my French isn't great! The current internal disk is 500gb, does anyone know whether I can upgrade my 21.5" iMac (circa Oct-2009 vintage) to a larger size internal disk, 1Tb or even 2Tb? I already have one external 2Tb drive and another one on order (I have masses of media stored and more planned as I've just taken up photography). Seems a bit of a pain managing with only 500gb internal storage. OR, can you advise me on how I can store all my photos on my new 2Tb external drive - I can't seem to figure out how to set the path for iPhoto to see them (I can't even figure out where they are stored right now!). Same with iTunes, how do I set the default storage to the external drive (I moved everything manually and then imported them all from the new drive - it worked but seemed very convoluted). Any advice on how to manage multiple drives gratefully received. And thanks again for previous replies.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t have Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there.  https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

  • How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion?

How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion? It's not in the App Store, it is nowhere on the Apple website . . . OK, so I guess it is supposed to be part of Mountain Lion, but I am running Mountain Lion and whatever version of Safari I ended up with would not even run at all . . .  so I trashed it (or at least what part of it I was allowed to trash) and though reinstalling it would be a good idea . . . but I can't find one to reinstall. The latest version I can find is for Leopard, and of course that won't run.
Not to mention that since getting Mt Lion, iPhoto won't run . . . it produces an error message saying I need to check with the developer to make sure it runs with this version of OS X! So I wonder who the developer of iPhoto is, who produces software that is incompatible with Mt Lion???
And even in submitting this there is no option to tag it for any OS later than 10.7.4!!

Since Safari is crashing, post a crash report...   reinstalling the OS X rarely helps a browser crash issue.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Please include the "binary images" section...

  • Message retry count for the message has been exhausted

    Hi,
I am using 'Custom Document Over Internet' with HTTPS as transport protocol. I have set the acknowledgement mode to Sync in order to receive the synchronous response. B2B is able to post the HTTP request successfully and in turn it receives a synchronous response and a MDN message. At the initial stage, after posting the request it shows the state as 'WaitForAck' for request message and for response and MDN messages, the state is completed.
After some time when we check the state of request it is changed to 'Error' with the error message as 'Message retry count for the message has been exhausted'. We have not set the retry count and retry interval and so after retrying for 3 times with an interval of 120 minutes it is showing error state as it is not able to correlate the incoming response to the corresspoding request. We have tried the option of setting the Message id of the request in 'replyToMsgID' parameter of response header and tested the flow. But still I am facing te same issue. Please help me to resolve this issue.

    Hi Anuj,
The property mentioned by NandaGopal has already been added in tip.properties file. I sent the B2B logs in debug mode and tip.properties file to your mail id. Please have a look into that. The result of opatch lsinventory command is
