Basic 3D Effect

I'm trying to have one image A rotate to reveal another image B. I'm turning the image on its y axis 180 degrees. When I attempt to add the second image to the backplate well of the basic 3d filter nothing happens. The well does not accept the image. Image one and image two are both ntsc DV movie files from Final Cut Pro.
Can anyone please provide me a step by step how to do this. I looked it up in the manual and it did not tell me anything.

Basic 3D effects and New Mac Pro

Hi
We are running Premiere CC on the New Mac Pro.
We use a lot of Basic3D effects in our editing in Premiere.
After we changed our machine to new Mac Pro (black),
whenever I try to render the Basic 3D section or export the video that
has the Basic 3D effects, the computer crashes.
While previewing, it gives me some digital noize looking like
the software is having problem processing the video.
How can we solve this problem?
The premiere crashes without any warning.
I can force quit the software.
The only way is to restart computer by hitting the power button.
I restarted the new computer numerous times.

[Premiere]
Premiere pro CC Version 7.2.1 (4)
The type of media I'm using is Avi and Apple ProRes 422.
The effect I'm using is Basic 3D.
I had to restart my computer more than 10 times while I was exporting the sequence by hitting power button.
I finally went in to Project Setting and in General,
I changed the Renerer from OpenCL to Software only, it got stable.
So I guess is that the solution?
Is there other way to solve?

Basic 3d effect is crashing PPRO

Anyone else experiencing PPRO CS5.5 (Win 7) crashing when Basic 3d effect is applied to a clip?
Just started doing so for me but I dont know if its version related or otherwise. I dont use it much.

I now think my issue is a little larger than what I first posted.
I am getting a lot of crashes in what has been a perfect rock solid setup.
Started with a non playback issue which I posted about and progressed to random crashes when doing stuff like applying an effect or adjusting a title. Nothing I could identify or isolate as a single cause.
I have restored the system backwards to before the "troubles" and re installed the graphics driver.
I have deleted media cache and temp files.
I have defragged all the drives (of which only one was fragged 26%)
Still working on it all.....

Moving Anchor point in Basic 3D effect

I need to use Premier's basic 3D effect (Swing in door), but with the anchor point on the left or the right (not default, in the middle), like the one in the transision (3D motion Swing in).
Does anyone know what 3d package, or other source has it?

Thank you for that. It is not quite the same though. To build a door looking effect, I would have to apply several other effects.
I would prefer to find and existing effect with controls, etc.
Do you know of those.

Is there a basic FCP effect that can improve Vintage Footage?

Im very briefly slapping some vintage videos on a DVD for a family member and i wondered if there is an effect in FCP that can enhance the colour etc?
FYI - i dont know how to grade!

Try applying the 3-Way Color Corrector filter. It's fairly simple to use and provides a very wide range of adjustments in contrast, brightness and color. Experiment a bit to see what works for you.

How to do Motion 2's Basic 3D effect in Motion 3

I found it quite useful in Motion 2's Basic 3D to make 2-side images that I could easily flip around. For instance, I could put the front of a coin on the front, and then the back side could be pasted in to show when the object flips over. What's the simplest way to make this 2-sided image with Motion 3's more complex set of 3D features?

Put the two objects in a group, then rotate the group around it's X or Y axis. The lower object will show up on the back.

ALchemy and advanced EAX effects on Vis

After upgrading to Vista, I thought little about the omission of DirectSound until I started playing World of Warcraft again last night. EAX effects are gone!
So after spending a few hours reading up on solutions, I stumbled across Creative ALchemy, which promised a solution. I've installed it and converted the .dll's correctly, but nothing has changed! The advanced reverb effects that previously made World of Warcraft so enjoyable are still gone, and the sound is still thoroughly "flat".
I'm no sound expert and it's certainly possible that basic DirectSound effects were added through OpenAL, but I do know that the advanced EAX effects are gone.
Anyone have a solution? Is this a planned feature in a future release, or does it sound like the problem may be with World of Warcraft, or something with my own driver installation? Thanks in advance,

Photo effects in flex app

HI,
I have implemented basic image effects into flex app, such as opacity, darkness etc. I am looking for some advanced effects such as, paint, cartoon etc, ones you can find in fotoflexer.com or lunapic.com
Can anybody suggest something? algorithms?

FCPX: How to Achieve Weird Effect

I found an effect in a video I would like to do but how would I do this?

Oh - that's just the basic "Edges" effect in Motion. I set it up for you and you can download it here:
http://sight-creations.com/fxexchange/Edges.zip.
To install, unzip the download, move the Edges folder into /Users/YourUserName/Movies/Motion Templates/Effects/Basics/
You will want to color correct the clip and set the saturation to 0, otherwise you'll get color outlines in places. It will also work best if the subject has been green screened as in the video you referenced.

Basic 3d, how do I change rotation axis (anchor) point?

I have a photo in front of me. Now I'd like it to fall toward me, but when I spin the X axis, of course, the focal/center/axis point is the center of the photo. If it was falling toward you as if standing up on a table, the bottom of the photo would be the rotating point. I don't see a way to change this anchor point in the basic 3d filter - can it be done?

The easiest way I found to do this is the following:
Make the layer you want to rotate in 3D (the photo, in this case) a child/sublayer of a new, empty layer.
Apply the Basic 3D effect to this new, parent layer.
Select the photo sublayer and drag it until it's relative position regarding the axis sytstem/anchor point is the one you want. After that, when you animate the Basic 3D filter in the parent layer, the photo will behave as if the axis system was offset to the location you wanted.

Premiere Pro CS6 error - black flashes on frames - Basic 3D bug?

I am currently working on a lyric music video which incorporates video and still image backgrounds with lyrics superimposed over the top in time to the music. I'm adding the lyrics by creating images with the words in Photoshop and then animating them (scrolling, spins, wipes, etc) in Premiere. All was going well until I tried a recent render and noitced that some effects were showing flashes of black on screen during text movement (flips or twists seem to be the culprit). I figured it was a render error but after trying a few different output methods and not curing the problem I realised I was getting the issue on the timeline when scrubbing through frame by frame. I've attached some images to demonstrate the problem. If I open an earlier saved version of the project then effect is fine on render and on scrubbing through the timeline. Have my later saved project files got corrupted at some point? If it was a software or hardware issue I would have expected it to have been happening from the outset but this effect has been fine until now. Is it fixable or do I have to go back a few versions and redo my recent work?
Ok I've just realised while grabbing the attached images that the black frames appear to be occurring on the first frame of each new text still image - I don't know if that helps with identifying the problem?
Ok another update - it appears to be the Basic 3D video effect that is causing the problem - if I remove that and have the text just appear then the black flashes go. But as I said above it worked fine in earlier project versions so it can work and isn't an inherent fault so I really hope I can find a solution and not have to remove the effect.
Really hoping someone can solve this for me, it's only a hobby video not a job but I've put a lot of hours in and am nearly finished so would be pretty bummed if I can't resolve the problem.

An update - this is definitely looking like a bug!
Each of the words is a separate Photoshop image cropped to the size of the word and I have then used the Basic 3D effect to rotate each image in turn from -90 degrees to 0 degrees so it appears on screen. Yesterday I tried changing the settings for the first clip and the black square disappeared if I reduced the range to -63 degrees to 0 degrees.
Success! Or so i thought. I moved the the next image and changed the range to -63 degreees to 0 degrees but the black square remained. In face I had to reduce the start rotation down to -58 degrees before the black square disappeared from that image. This progression continued with each subsequent clip needing a futher reduction the starting rotation so by the time I got to the last image I the start rotation had to come down from -90 degrees to around -20 degrees.
Defintely a bug? (It works the same whether I was using negative or positive start angles btw).
I'll try using a different file format for the word images in case it's an issue with Photoshop image

Blurr effect in Flash

Hi,
I was wondering if someone would be able to point into the
right direction as to achieving this type of blur like they have on
this webpage? I would like to create something similiar where a
user would be able to see some pictures but as the pictures move
out of the masked area they appear blurred?

to do with Flash. Now, Flash "can" help you to create similar
motion effects (although nothing compared to the real thing), but
using various transparent layers of graphical items and

Tabel effect in Flash?

I have a bit of a problem which I can't seem to solve.
I have a large textbox which will load dynamic content
(htmltext). I need something that will look like a table but I cant
seem to do this in flash. The deatails will look something like
this:

I basicly need two colums with the left content aligned to
the right and the right column aligned to the left. Does anyone
know how I can format my HTML like this in Flash?

Getting the error (23::46) when adding effects to comp

Hi all,
If I try to add effects like Text-->Numbers or Obsolete-->Basic Text to a solid in my comp, i get the following error message "After Effects error: could not convert Unicode characters.". I have done some research on this and found people that had the same issue when trying to import footage or images. I get the message just by starting a new comp adding a solid and then try to add the effects mentioned above, so their is no footage or image involved here.
I`m running on Win7 Professional 64bit service pack 1 (english) and After Effects CC (12.2.1.5). I don`t think this is part of the problem but here are more hardware infos (just in case):
- NVIDIA GTX 570
- Intel Core i7 2600K
- 16GB DDR3 Corsair (CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9)
- ASUS P8P67 Mainboard
I`m running AE cc on a Lenovo U310 aswell and do not have any issues there, so I assume something must be wrong with the OS or with AE on my main PC. Does anyone have a clue what`s wrong?

The thing is though, I don`t try to open a project or import a file when the error shows up. I simply start AE, make a new comp, add a solid and then try to add the "Numbers" or "Basic Text" effect to that solid. I simply can not imagine how this has something to do with characters in any file name or path. It doesn`t makle sense to me.
Any other ideas?
