Basic copy & Paste question.

Still new to Logic & just moving over from Cubase,I find simple things like copy & paste so very complex.I am trying to mix down a few tracks from a previous project done on Cubase.I have the vocals on 1 track with just 1 take.The singer has sung the chorus just once instead of twice so I need to repeat the chorus & all I'm trying to do is copy the chorus,split the single vocal track so there is some space to add the repeated chorus & attach the rest of the vocal track following the repeated chorus.
In cubase I would just cut the chorus portion,copy it,move aside the remainder of the song to make room & paste the copied chorus in the empty space.
After reading through the manual I still cant figure out how this simple procedure is best approached in Logic.Do I need to go through the sample editor or the 'comping' thing that involves arranging different takes? In this case this is only a single take.How do I cut exactly the measures that contain the chorus & place it right after it? Can someone please explain a step by step approach as to how to go about?

Thanks a lot for the response.When I tried using the scissor tool & cutting it,the whole track disappeared! Please let me know how to cut just those specific measures & copy those measures alone,so I could drag aside the following measures to make room for the copied portion to be pasted.I spent a lot of tume trying this but just couldn't get it.Is there a video tutorial somewhere? Where/How do I specify the exact measures to be cut?

(Probably) Stupid Copy/Paste Question

Hello, and thank you in advance for your help. This is my first day on the PowerBook Pro. I was previously on a PowerBook G3.
I'm having strange issue: Copying and pasting works fine...exept when copying and pasting from a website onto an HTML editor (like Composer or NVU).
It's very strange. It worked fine on my PowerBook, but now when I go to paste nothing happens. I've tried to find some setting that may have changed but haven't found anything. I'm completely stumped. Does anyone have any ideas?

It doesn't seem to matter what the site is. I've tried copying from different sites onto different HTML editors. I copy (via command C, or edit copy, or control click) and try to paste it into Composer nothing happens. If I paste it onto any regular text editor (MS Word, Stickies, etc) it pastes without a problem. For some reason I'm only having the problem when I paste into an HTML editor.
Very strange, no?? Perhaps there's an issue with copying something formatted? I created a hyperlink in Word and tried to copy/paste it into Composer and wasn't able to do it. Is there a setting for copying formatted text that needs to be turned on or something?

Coordinates x y copy paste Question

Hi,
Is there a way to automatically show the coordinates of a box in Illustrator? I don't mean that i just need to know what the coordinates are... I know how to see them..
What I need is to have the x/y coordinates physically written and printed out and displayed right onto the canvas when I click the top left hand corner of square.
The only way I know how to achieve this is to copy and paste the coordinates on to the canvas each time. It there a faster more efficient way?

Copy/paste question...

I am doing a lot of copying and pasting and I'm getting frustrated because every time I paste my selection, it moves back in my Pages document. I then have to hit tab to put the selection back to where I wanted it. How can I keep the pasted selection where I want it?

What version of Pages are you using?
What you want is a Hanging Indent, where the first line start to the left of the rest of the paragraph.
Menu > View > Show Ruler
To do that drag the Left margin marker on your Ruler to the right, then drag back the top part of the marker to the left.
To continue the paragraph but start a new line use a Soft Return (shift return).
Or if you actual want a List, apply the type of List Style to the paragraph from your Format sidebar.
To demote items in lists you type option tab for each level or shift option tab to promote a level.

Implementing cut, copy, and paste with a multi-touch screen interface is probably a little tricky to get right, and although Apple has not made any announcements if this will be included with firmware update 2.0 or later, I tend to believe this is probably something being worked on.
Firmware update 2.0 will include many more features targeted specifically at the enterprise/business market, but not sure if this release will include the ability to dial a phone number from a calendar appointment, but certainly possible.

Copy/Paste disabled within filenames

(Before coming to any conclusions, the computer I'm referencing to is not my own and is not related at all to my information at the bottom of the post)
Basically, Copy/Paste functions are disabled when editing file names (Such as folders and files). Is there anything that could be causing this? The operating system is v10.5.8.

If you aren't actually editing the file name, copying it is sometimes tricky.
You'll know when you are editing it, when the box around the name becomes a black outline around some colored highlighted text. Usually you have to click inside the file name. Of course locked files won't let you rename, and files written to CD and DVD won't either.

I want to achieve the following tasks:
(1) Copy some texts in a website starting from the cursor;
(2) Analyze the texts.
I am considering the following solution (which is complicated):
Let Robot simulate the copy-paste process, and save the copied texts into a file, then open the file to analyze the texts.
The problem here is the Robot class does not support mouse dragging (does it?) and so copy-paste is hard to simulate. Is there any solution?
Besides, the best way is to copy the texts directly into the Java program. How can I do that?

I think you have rather to read text/html using file reader and analyze the text to search the information you need using regexp

Copy/paste and keyboard question...

1) Is there a way to adjust my imac so that when I copy/paste something it stays where the cursor is?
I do a lot of copying and I use a colon, then skip two spaces and when I paste my selection, it skips back those two spaces after the colon. It's frustrating because I then have to go back and space two times.
I've never had an issue with this in windows, so maybe something in my settings isn't set correctly?
2) Is there a way to set my keyboard up to have a forward delete button? Right now if I hit delete it is really backspace, like the left arrrow in windows. If I hit fn and delete at the same time it does the forward delete, but I'd like to do this in one button, is it possible?

How can we solve this?
Right now, we are using the work-around of set_variable and get_Variable. We are setting the value of CAT_NAME inside an outer loop, and using it inside the inner loop using get_variable.
Is this the proper way to do this or are there better ways to do this? We are running into troubles when the data is inside tables.

the secondary buffer is overly complicated to use, so nothing uses it really (I don't think anything beyond xterm can use it) - basically, the run down is that you have one "selection owner" and two buffers... the application needs to do all this roundabout work to keep the selection owner the same after the secondary buffer is filled... it's wierd and I don't understand it... needless to say, you might be able to copy *into* it, but out of it is beyond that...
most people (including the FSF) just recommend against even trying to understand it...

This one kills me as well - editing phone numbers in the keypad/dialer is a pretty basic function, I could never fathom why it didn't exist. We need to be able to place a cursor, and copy/paste part-numbers! I'm constantly trying to paste just an area code, or an extension, or insert the country code, and I should not need to create a new number in the contact directory to do it!
Currently I do the copy/paste editing in Notes, and then paste the corrected number into the dialer - pointless and inefficient, and contrary to the Apple philosophy of making the user experience easy and seamless...

Why can't I copy/paste tables correctly? (CS6)

Sorry for having to ask such a basic question. I am new to ID.
I am following this tutorial:

At 25:10, he creates a 2x16 table into which he pastes a table from iWork Pages. He does this by:
- Selecting the entire table in Pages
- Selecting every cell in the blank ID table
- Copying the Pages table and hitting paste in ID
The Pages table is mapped, cell for cell, to the ID table.
However, when I try this method, only the lefthand side of the ID table is populated. Every Pages cell ends up in the left hand column (the number of rows increases to accommodate them) and the right hand side is left empty.
What am I doing wrong? Is this the standard way of copying/pasting tables? Is there a better method?

Arghh. As far as I can tell, I'm doing all that. It just won't paste properly.
Here's what I do:
Using type tool, I click on the destination frame.
I insert the 2x16 table.
I select all the cells in Pages and copy them.
Using type tool, I select all the cells in ID.
I hit paste.
The only thing I can think of it that ID is expecting the table in one format, and Pages is copying the table to the clipboard in another format.

How to initiate copy/paste from menu in projector?

I have a projector that uses a MenuMember to create a
standard menu across the top i.e.:

I have several text, (not field), but text members that are
editable where the user inputs text information. Pretty basic and
simple. If they use the keyboard commands for Copy, Paste, Select
All & Cut those commands work fine in the text field and behave
as you would normally expect.
My question is, under my EDIT menu, I want to have the normal
CUT,COPY,PASTE,SELECT ALL selections that you would expect to find.
Right now I have no behaviors attached to them in my menuMember so
they don't do anything if you go to EDIT -> PASTE.
I have been looking for a handler to attach to the menuMember
that would perform those functions. For example my menuMember text
would look like this:

Quit | quit
menu: Edit
Copy/C | CopyHandler
Paste/V | PasteHandler
Select All/A | SelectAllHandler

So far I haven't been able to figure out any handler that

Copy + Paste Photoshop cs6 Error

I'm sick en tierd of copy pasting text and get another output of my fontsize. For example: I copy a text with a font sz of 16 px, that size become 15.98px.
