BASIC emulator for Mac OS X

Hello,
I just received a fascinating book on the Apollo missions full of BASIC programs. I'm not a software developper (otherwise I would create an OS X version with all the equations in the book) so I'm looking for an emulator. After searching the web I found "QuickTerm 1.0.1" but I can't use it. Then I found the C-64 emulator "Power64", which will remind me my first computer.
The objective is to type, save and run the programs. Would there be a better option than Power64 ?
(I also thought about an HP scientific calculator but apparently they don't run BASIC).

Take a look at Chipmunk BASIC it's free, and might be what you're looking for.
I actually use REALbasic for a bunch of database administration, and I don't think it's all that much like the BASIC I remember from high school. It's more geared toward building GUI apps.

  • What is a safe reliable playstation emulator for mac

What is a safe, reliable playstation emulator for mac ?

I have yet to see a 'safe & reliable' PSX emulator on OS X - they crash and are buggy & generally unreliable from the few I have seen.
You can look at PCSX (PS1)
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/pcsxosx/
    and PCSX2 (PS2)
    http://pcsx2mac.net/downloads/
These are cumbersome to install and may require you to get files from your original Sony hardware.
I'm hoping someone else can post a better option, these are not that great.

  • I have downloaded an emule for mac, but it is not working.  There is an amule, it works, but slow.  Why

Can some one tell me if there is an easymule for mac.  I have downloaded one, but it is not working.  There is a amule, it works, but very slow.

Sniper Elite doesn't have a release for Macintosh as far as i know. It was only released on Windows and other gaming consoles, but not on Mac OS X.

  • Can anyone recommend a basic spreadsheet for Mac?

I'm looking for a basic spreadsheet to use on my iMac, as similar to Excel as possible. Excel is the only one I've ever used, but it's on my work PC - I need a spreadsheet for home use on my Mac. What I'd like to do is find one in the App Store, either free or fairly cheap. There are so many choices on there I don't even know where to begin. I need something very basic, similar to Excel with columns and rows and such.
I apologize if I'm asking this question in the wrong category - I've been finding it hard to get used to the new Apple forums.
    Thank you in advance,
    Sunny

NeoOffice was a OS X adaptation of OpenOffice because there wasn't a OS X version when the "Mac" came back from the dead basically.
Sun which owned OpenOffice, was bought by Oracle, which all the developers left finding out Oracle wasn't going to support OpenOffice anymore.
The developers of OpenOffice went and formed LibreOffice, which got some serious cash donations and now is the new fork of OpenOffice.
So if you have files in NeoOffice, OpenOffice or Microsoft Office, they will work just fine in LibreOffice.
LibreOffice is getitng all the attention now that's it's truly "free" and many more developers worldwide are looking at the code and contributing to it.
So LibreOffice is what you need. It's also cross platform, Linux, OS X or Windows. AND free. (but you should contribute funds)

  • Basic instructions for MAC for Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder?

Could someone please give step-by-step instructions of how to upload videos and pictures from a Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder to a MAC OS X? I downloaded Quicktime 7 Pro, but I still can't figure it out. I'm pretty NON-tech savvy, as you can tell, and now have 3 memory cards to upload. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP!

DCIM is a common folder name for digital images not videos. You should find actual photos in the DCIM folder or sub-folders of this DCIM folder, somewhere, with the usual JPG extension.
Without going into impossible detail there will be folders for stills and folders for videos on the SD cards in this type of camera.
You need to use iMovie , part of iLife 09 (which you buy not download). The issue with the videos is that there are data files (large video files) and there are index type files on the card.
The index files describe the videos start and stop times and where they are. They do this because usually the video file can get only so large (say 1 or 2GB)then a new video file is started. But that video file might have two or three clips on it and even may have a clip that started in one file and ends in a new file.
With me so far? So the indexes sort all this out. iMovie can read these indexes and import the clips by using the index to find each separate clip even if there are several on one card.
Quicktime is the wrong program and I am not sure that it can even read the raw video files and frankly if it could I think you'd be better served with a program that manages the process for you.
MPEG Streamclip MIGHT open the video files and it can string them together, allow basic trimming and editing and exporting to a Quicktime or iPod type format but that may be too daunting to explore. If you want to try, drag one of the big video files to the desktop and open or try to in MPEG Streamclip - if it opens then you can export to MPEG-4 and press an iTunes button and pick an ipod device and get a little stand alone movie.

  • Wyse 50 Emulation for Mac Terminal

Hi. I know there are a lot of terminal emulation apps out there, even for the mac. But what I'm wondering is this; is there any way I can add Wyse 50 emulation to my macbooks Terminal app? I would really like to not have to download another terminal program for my mac. I find it redundant to have two terminal programs installed on one computer. Let me know what my options are.
    Thank you in advance

This has been a work in progress goal of mine as well. I was able to get WYSE 60 emulation going but I have an ongoing problem with time-outs and function keys.
I've only found 2 third-party emulators of WYSE and I've demoed both. They work alright but I feel that none compare to Anzio who's product is windows only. For that reason, I'm using Parallels Desktop to virtualize windows.
    Good luck -GDF

  • IOS app emulator for Mac

i'm wondering if a product of this sort is somewhere in the pipeline. i have a bunch of referential and productivity apps on my device that i would love to access on my macbook, which i have spent some good amount of money for (eg, black's law dictionary).
    please make it happen. cheers,

surely it's necessary for developers, but i'd like to see a product made for consumers. perhaps it's a legal issue where the current developmers contract doesn't cover devices outside of iPod and iPhone.
either way, OS X emulator should happen.

  • Adobe AIR ANE for Mac OSX 32-64bits Error

    Hi,
I'm trying to build a ANE for Mac OSX. I setup XCode 5.1 and was following this two tutorials:
    http://riawanderer.com/2012/03/27/working-with-air-native-extensions-on-the-mac/
    http://quetwo.com/2011/12/03/working-with-air-native-extensions-on-the-mac/
    To get the project setup.
I'm finding that Adobe AIR.framwork in folder /runtimes/air/mac is 32-bit, but XCode has deprecated 32-bit...so I'm finding this error when I try to build the project:
error: -fobjc-arc is not supported on platforms using the legacy runtime
Command /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/cl ang failed with exit code 1
So right now ANE development for Mac OSX is broke since I can't build a cocoa framework library due to 32-bit deprecation and Adobe not updating the library since 2011
I'm right or maybe I'm missing something.
Hope someone could give some path to solve this since it's very frustrating to deal with this stuff to see there's no update for this basic libraries for Mac.
If what I'm seeing is true, I see another error in Adobe stack that make people like me supporting the platform tired of deal with this kind of things. Sorry to be sound so frustrated but it's a very negative experience for the Adobe AIR platform since you see that a part of the platform is not updated for 3 years!.
    Thanks
    Carlos

Does what is talked about here help in any way?:

  • Help with GBA Emulators for Mac?

    Hey there,
I recently tried to use a GBA Emulator to play Pokemon FireRed.  I used VisualBoyAdvance with no issues at first, except it seems to not to save properly.  I can save from the menu, get an error message, quit and the save will be there, but the save file doesn't appear in the VBA folders and if it quits/crashes or anything else I lose all my data.
My charizard was nearly level 40, now I have to start again....
I've been trawling the internet for solutions to the save issue with VBA, but nothing seems to work.  I've looked at other emulators like No$GBA and Boycott but they seem to all come with issues of their own before I even get to saving anything.
    I'm using a Macbook Air, OS X 10.9.3
Does anyone have any solution that actually works to make VBA work, or know of an emulator for mac that runs smoothly?
    Thanks heaps!
    Nyx.

  • Pe-OSX Emulator for OSX 10.6

Is there an emulator for mac OSX 10.6 that allows you to run OS 9 or earlier apps? I'm not to Mac-savvy, so an emulator that does not require the doing of 36.3 things would be nice. I looked at Basilisk II and SheepShaver, but those require you to make a ROM (which I have no idea how to do) and this and that. Ideas?

Since you want the information mayby you should do a Google search yourself to get it rather having one of us doing it for you.

  • Looking for iPhone emulator for MBP..?

I'm looking for iPhone (or iPad) emulator for Mac. There's some software I need to run for work that only available for them, and I'd like instead to run them on my Mac.
    Anything available?
    Cheers!

A bit of Googling confirms what I thought. You can only runs apps in the simulator that you have the source code to. When the SDK compiles an App, different code is used in the simulator to what is sent to the AppStore.

  • Need a Firehand Lightning emulator for the Mac

My daughter's wedding pictures were put together by the photographer with a program called Firehand Lightning. Is there an emulator for the Mac for this software? The photographer has given permission for me to use an emulator to open these pictures.

Ya, he's giving you the BS treatment.  After doing a bit more reading, Firehand basically allows someone to take a set of pictures they have and package them together in a single .exe file that becomes a sort of slideshow presentation.  You need to go back and read what your contract with this photographer said, because if you paid him to take pictures and provide you with those pictures for said price, then he needs to provide those pics to you.  If the contract read something along the lines of you're paying him to take pics which he will provideo to you in an album or slideshow encapsulation for said price, then you're hosed because he's basically getting away with charging you for doing half-*** work really.  Any professional photographer should be giving his/her clients full rez JPEGs of the work they're doing and getting paid for, not some bundled junk presentation/slideshow, unless you asked for that specifically.  Either way, you need to go read your contract with him/her.  If you didn't have one, then you need to confront him/her with your demands.  Paying an additional $1500 just for him/her to take some pics off a card and put them on a CD or DVD for you is outrageous and ground for taking him to small claims court in my book... unless a contract was signed or verbally agreed upon that allowed him to swindle you because you didn't understand what he was selling you on.

  • How to save a Module in Visual Basic with Excel for Mac 2011

On the MS support pages it shows how to create a module that will turn digits into written words:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/213360/en-us
so if you enter $32.50 it will convert it to Thirty-Two Dollars and 50 cents. Perfect for batch payroll work!
Using Excel for Mac I open the Visual Basic editor (which I clearly know nothing about!), paste in the text provided by Microsoft and it works perfectly.
BUT... if I close that workbook that module is gone.  I can't use it again in the next workbook.  Surely there's a simple way to save the module so it is available in all future workbooks... yes?  This one has stumped several MS techs so far.

    Hi,
I have no Excel for Mac, so I can't test this issue .
Did you save the Excel workbook as Excel Macro-Enabled workbook(*.xlsm)?I guess Excel would prompt you if you want to save the VBA code when you close the workbook.

  • Can I use Word for Mac 2004 to write basic solver/Macros programs?

I just bought the new macbook aluminum unibody. I am in college and am taking computer programming in fall, I need to be able to write basic programs that utilize macros and solver. I spoke with one mac person who told me I would need to buy parallels, the microsoft OS and then microsoft word for Microsoft OS.
However, that costs upwards of 200$ for a class I am only going to be taking for 2 months. Someone else has told me that the 2004 version of Word for Mac has macros abilities on it (those that are not on the current version, but that the 2011 version will have). Can I just use the 2004 version? Or does anyone have other suggestions?

Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)
