on my home screen, on the left hand side of the battery percentage there is a locck symbol with a circled arrow around it. what does this mean?

Basic icons at the bottom of the phone

My sons have gotten hold of my iPhone. Safari has disappeared from the basic four icons on the bottom.... how do I get it back on there?

errrrrgh. Now my two year old did the same thing to my husband's iPhone.... and resetting didn't work for his Anyone else have any ideas? I really don't want to restore (and lose a bunch of stuff) if I don't have to.

Missing 'Basic' Icon

I need some help with Lightroom3.
In the DEVELOP mode on the right side of the screen there are functions for TONE, DETAIL, EFFECTS etc.
The top one is BASIC.
Somehow my "BACIC" has disappeared from the list.
How did that happen and how do I get it back?
I can't edit without it.
I can CROP, STRAIGHTEN, SPOT, etc, but not FILL LIGHT, CONTRAST, etc. There doesn't seem to be a icon to get it back either? Do you know where it is?

Right click In Develop the right side panel and recheck Basic or Show All.

First off this is not a problem it inquery into how to change the color of your basic icons so they are easier to recognize among the rest of my icons.

I have used different version of FF before and was not able to change the appearance(to be able tweak it with color or style to fit my personality or mood) of the toolbar icons so I hoped that FF 4 would have added that option although I have not found that to be true as yet or am I not looking in the correct place to find that feature.

If you do that your device restores to factory settings. However, if you just want to remove settings, then just Erase All Settings. It's much faster.

Changing the order of icons on iPhone

As you know, 16 icons can be displayed per page and 4 basic icons (phone, mail, safari, ipod) are at the bottom.
However, my order of icons has been changed. 15 icons per page, and 4 basic icons (phone, safari, ipod, mail)

If you want to move an icon to a different page (you have 9 of them) then hold the wiggling icon and slide it to the right edge of the screen and try to push it off the side of the phone. It will appear on the second page. The pages are shown as a series of small dots at the bottom of the screen.

No previews to eps icons in Bridge CS4 with OSX Leopard 10.5.6

Crippled Leopard or Bridge too far...
Recently upgraded to an iMac and Leopard 10.5.6 and gone the
Adobe Creative suite CS4 route and find that I cannot preview eps
documents as images and just get basic icons in Bridge which is
very inconvenient.
Have Apple decided that we don't use ai eps anymore or is it a
problem with Bridge CS4!
Bridge CS3 works and previews are visible.
I don\'t seem to be able to find anything on line that will work.
Just downloaded Quicklook and that does not work either!
I would contact Apple if only I could get hold of them.

But to get back to point, upon your advice, I did check out the Photoshop Macintosh Forums. 227 results popped up for "EPS"; and as I didn't check out all of them, the ones I did read refer to the EPS files when used with raster files. But my inquiry was about vector files (logos for example). Since you don't seem to want to help, I will check out the Illustrator forums instead.
And Tim, I'm sorry that this has veered off topic.

10.2 update - after exiting folder, my bottom phone/search/camera icons missing

After I updated my Z10 a couple weeks ago, I started noticing that after I click on a folder I created to store my app icons and then exit the folder, my bottom 3 basic icons are missing and will not return till I reboot. When I click the center of the area that had the icons, a blue line appears just above the center area and if I hold it a "rename folder" box appears. Is this a known glitch or am I just lucky?

I'm having the same issue. Did you ever find a solution?

Java Icon set: Hour glass??

Hi y'all!!
I know of the free graphics repository that provides a set of basic icons

but this set doesn't contain what I need for my app:
I would like an hour glass, like the one displayed when you change the mouse cursor to a waiting cursor, but this should be in the Metal Java look and feel.
If anyone out there knows of anyother graphics repositories which may have an hourglass.. or if you know how else I can obtain one.. please, please could you tell me! You'd be saving me a lot of unnecessary time in painfully drawing one in an icon editor.

Windows 7 Device Icons

I installed my HP printers on Windows 7 recently and noticed the icons for the printers, plotters, and all in one devices were the same icon (an all in one icon).
Now HP has some great products which is why all of our printers/plotters/all in one machines are HP!
Windows has supplied the basic icons for devices and as nice looking as they are they do not represent the devices very well.
Does HP offer icons so when I open my printers folder I see a plotter or a printer (different types) or a all in one device?

There are some different icons supplied with drivers on some models. Below is a section of my printers folder showing a number of different printer icons.

Screen sharing icon in Messages dimmed out when it shouldn't be

Running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 on 2009 27" iMac. I was attempting to share my screen with another person also running OS X Yosemite (also 10.10.2) via Messages and the screen sharing icon is dimmed out (while both FaceTime video and audio icons are NOT dimmed out). I went through creating and entering an app specific password for both Messages and FaceTime and my iCloud account is signed into both. Tried signing out and back in as well, but that did not resolve it. Tried rebooing as well, but the issue remains. The other person is able to screen share with other individuals running Yosemite so I assume it's something on my end, but I have no idea what.
Ideas?

The App is Messages.
It can have an iMessages account is use.
This distinction is becoming more important as time goes on.
In Yosemite the Messages App can start a Video (or Audio and also Screen Sharing) two different ways. (it's related bear with me).
As the iChat app the AIM and Jabber accounts have been able to Video chat within the app since iChat 2 for AIM accounts and iChat 3 for Jabber when it was added. (Screen Sharing is added at iChat 4)
This needs the Video Menu > Enable the three items for Video, Audio and Screen Sharing.
In Yosemite the iMessages account can start a video from the Main window when a text Chat is going on using the Details option to right.
To start an AIM Video chat (same for Jabber and Bonjour) you need the Buddy list to be displayed, Highlight the Buddy and then use either the icon at the bottom of the Buddy List or the Buddies menu.
To Start an iMessages Video chat you need to first set up FaceTime with the same Apple ID account (it can be done with a different ID but this can cause confusing at the other end about who is calling).
Then you use the Details option having started a Text (iMessages) chat with them.
This in turn Invokes the FaceTime App and 'Calls' the ID your are iMessaging to. If you are using a different ID in FaceTime they see that and not the one in the iMessages account.
Screen Sharing
Screen Sharing is similar in that it (iMessages account) invokes an outside app to do the Screen Sharing.
You first need to go to System Preferences > Sharing and enable the Screen Sharing item.
Then in Messages in the Main window during a iMessages Chat/conversation with someone you need to use the Details option top right and select the Linked Squares for the Screen Sharing.
This invokes the Screen Sharing App (System/Library/Core Services/Applications) and connects the two computers with and Audio chat along side.
For the iChat type accounts (AIM, Jabber and Bonjour) you use the Buddy list like the Video chats.
NOTES.
If you have other Macs on your LAN and they appear in the Finder's Side bar as Shares you can select them and use the button in the Finder Window to Screen Share with those Macs.
This too invokes the Screen Sharing app.
Another way is to use the Go Menu in the Finder > Go to Server and enter VNC:// and the IP address instead of AFP or SMB (Or Browse instead)
In the System Preferences > Sharing you will also find Remote Management.
This cannot be on the same time as Screen Sharing. However in use from the Finder it allows the Screen Sharing described above.
All of these use the Client end of Apple Remote Desktop (ARD).
However the Finder methods described do not come wither Audio Chat described for the iMessages or AIM/Jabber/Bonjour way.
Also if you try to use the Details method with an AIM or Jabber of Bonjour Buddy it will not work as it tries to do this the iMessages way.
Basically "icons" and "Messages" is not enough to say where you are in the app to pin point this further.

I have a lot of video files like TV shows, and I was wondering how I could add an image for the series so that when I have the files in icon view (tiles) I see the image I have assigned and not a preview of the video.

If you are interested in changing the icon for your video files, you may find the following article helpful (to the best of my knowledge, it should only show a preview as the icon if there is not already a designated custom icon):
