Basic Menu Button, Background, and a:hover question

Yes, I'm probably the newest DW CS3 person on this forum.
I've looked at many of the forum entries and haven't found what I'm
looking for...sorry.
I'm building a menu bar and would like the entire background
image for the button to show up when the mouse is hovering over the
menu list item. When I hover, the background only fills the space
behind the text and not the full button size. I've tried combining
Rollover Image but the Original and Rollover images are always
skewed one way or the other. There must be a fairly easy solution
but I haven't found it. Yes, I've ordered The Missing Manual for
DWCS3 and have viewed Total Training, but of course, there's much
much more to learn.
I actually did build a working menu with 8 items using nice
3-d images from Fireworks. Each button was a custom image with the
menu item included (like Home or Contact Us), which drastically
increased my web size. I'm at 625k with just the template layout so
far, no content or other images in the editable area. This seems
too large and so I feel I need to scale back my graphics and reduce
color palets, including the buttons for the menu. This is why I'm
here...to learn.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated,
Jim

  • Clickwheel/Menu buttons stopped working + ASP/Warranty question

Today, my year old 2nd gen nano's clickwheel and menu button stopped working. The hold button works, Itunes sees the thing, disconnecting the headphones does what it supposed to do and everything appears to be in order, except for the buttons. Neither resetting, nor restoring the software did resolve the issue and I am left with a small, elegant, brushed aluminium finished brick with music in it.
Luckily, an Apple ASP isn't particulary far from where I live and I could and probably should bring it there. However, I am currently in a country that is not the one I bought the Ipod in and my purchase receipt and anything else that might have came with it is some 3000 km away.
Does anyone know if bringing just the player to an ASP (it does have a serial number) has any remote chance of getting a warranty repair? And, if not, is it worth it even bothering with the repair, in terms of cost?

  • The light on my apple tv is blinking furiously.  i've held down the menu button, plugged and unplugged it, and just tried restoring it via micro usb.  but the restore downloads then says it can't finish because it can't write to the disc.  lost lost

how do i get the light on my apple tv to stop blinking?  have tried all the recommended methods, including holding down "menu" on remote, plugging and unplugging etc.  when i try to restore via itunes it downloads then when it's done says it can't write to disc.

    Hi lostinmedford,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that the light is quickly flashing on your Apple TV and you are unable to restore it. According to the attached article, you are working through the correct steps by trying to reset and restore the Apple TV. In this situation, if the restore did not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to have the Apple TV evaluated for service by using the link in the attached article.

    Flashes quickly
Having issues. Try restarting or waking your Apple TV. If your Apple TV does not start up properly, you might need to reset the Apple TV or restore it to factory settings. See Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Restoring your Apple TV. If this does not resolve the issue, refer to the Service FAQ for additional assistance.

  • Menu, Button, Menuitem backgroundcolor

is there any way to change the menu , button , menuItem background color,
i know there is hastable for maintaing ui component color. and one can get the
that defaults value using UIManager.getDefaults(). which returns a hastable . and you can set the key with corresponding value for some component.
    UIManager.getDefaults().put("win.menu.backgroundColor",Color.RED);
    but that doesnt work.
    but the following line works
    UIManager.put("TableHeader.background", Color.RED);
but the following line doesnt work.
    UIManager.put("ScrollBar.background", Color.RED);
i dont why swing team exposed the api , and that api doesnt works. :)

While it would be nice if we could expect all LookAndFeel implementations to use the same keys in the UIDefaults table, and while most implementations I've seen do make every honest effort to do so, it's not guaranteed. There's no reason why an LAF couldn't use a completely arbitrary set of keys, as long as all its associated UIs were geared for it. So... when you're trying to make changes to the UIDefaults table, it's always a good idea to check the LAF class. For example, let's pretend like we're working with the Metal look and feel (javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel class). It subclasses the javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicLookAndFeel class, so remember to look up the heirarchy.
And we'll see that the key for the background color of a JMenuItem is "MenuItem.background", a JButton is "Button.background", and JMenu is "Menu.background". Those are the keys you set in the UIManager.
Personally, I prefer putting in a javax.swing.plaf.ColorUIResource instead of a straight java.awt.Color. But that's me.
As for why "ScrollBar.background" isn't working for you, well, it seems like it should, but you might double-check the ScrollBarUI for the LAF you're using and see if maybe it's not looking somewhere else.

  • Push Button look and feel

    Hi,
    I am using forms 10g
I have a requirement to make the look and feel of the push button like a hyperlink.
Basically the button background should merge with the canvas background and text should appear on the canvas.
I have to use push buttons only as i have a require setting mouse navigate property for the buttons to function correctly.
I tried using image instead of buttons but image does not have mouse navigate property.
kindly reply as this is becoming a show stopper fr the proposed look and feel in the current project.
    Edited by: user3067156 on May 4, 2010 6:01 AM

One use case for setting mouse navigate property to yes is mentioned in this link
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_as_10g/bi/forms/formsmasterdetailobe.htm
When Mouse Navigate is No, Form Builder does not perform navigation to the item when the end user activates it with the mouse. For example, a mouse click in a button or check box is not treated as a navigational event.
Form Builder fires any triggers defined for the button or check box (such as When-Button-Pressed), but the input focus remains in the current item.
When Mouse Navigate is Yes, Form Builder navigates to the item, firing any appropriate navigation and validation triggers on the way.
if the button performs query or cancel mouse navigate is set to No
if the button performs first ,next, commit record mouse navigate is set to Yes.

  • Xfce4 no background and right mouse button menu

    Hello.
Everything worked great so I decided to try Xgl. I put Shadowhand repo in my pacman.conf than I ran
    pacman -Syu
    and than
    pacman -S xgl-cvs compiz-cvs mesa-cvs cairo-cvs
first I lost my right mouse button menu and than background. I recovered bacground by running
xfdesktop in terminal. How do I get my right mouse button working? This is when I run startxfce4 as root. When I try as other user everything work like before.
I tried to remove xfce4 and install again. I tried to remove .config directory from root folder and replace with one from users on the system(startxfce4 as user everything is there). Still the same black background and no menu on right mouse button.
    Thanks for help.

  • Spry vertical menu button shows background color instead of image in preview

Hello All, I'm a newbie (to the forum and Dreamweaver) so my apologies if my question is not in good form.  I've searched for this issue but cannot seem to find the exact problem I have.
I've created a website (my first) and used the spry menu bar.  It works well using the default blue and grey colors for button and hover.  However, I decided I want to spruce it up a little and change the buttons to use a background image (rainbow pattern) instead of background color.  I internet researched this for some time and watched all the youtube videos people have posted for this process and editing the spry vertical menu bar CSS.  Using the .a and hover lines from the CSS, I was able to add my background .jpg image file.  In the design view, the button look exactly how I want them to.  However, when I attempt to preview in IE, Chrome, or FF, the buttons still have the default colors and no image.  I've gone back and deleted the default blue and grey, but then the preview just shows dark grey and white for the buttoms.  is there something that I am overlooking that would cause the background color to show instead of the image I have attached to the buttons.  I can't figure out why it looks right in DW but not in preview.
BTW, I'm editing a template file and all the pages are updated with the new image buttons, but none of the pages show correctly in preview.
    Thanks

    Point taken :-)

  • Background and pop up menu in ENCORE CS5

    Hi everybody,
    I have a problem.
I try to create a pop up BD menu from a preset found in Encore (cloud pop up menu)
If I change writtings on buttons, some red collision square appears.
Then, using photoshop I take all the backgrounds of all buttons to make an unique background image.
Now if i use this image as an object it disappears.
    like this
If I use it as a button the red squares appear.
    like this
    The question is this.
How can I use a background for pop up menus?
    thanks
    I apologize for my english

The red squares are showing you that there are buttons that are overlapping. With the Marquee Tool (m) on Photoshop just select the part you want for the button from your background and then right click & select Layer via Cut and then put the new layer you made into the folder that belongs to that button. You can put a background on any pop-up menu but you have to cut it into pieces and put them in the folders of the buttons, and also make sure that they are not overlapping.
Here are some pictures I did for my pop-up menu (it has 8 pages with around 9 buttons each page & with each button with a background):
Also here is a link of a blu-ray I did with this pop-up menu: http://youtu.be/pEjKmIYM_8I

If this happens on monitor 2 of 2, this problem has been solved here:

Go to "Firefox"--> "Options" --> "Advanced"
Then un-check "Use hardware acceleration when available"
While not verified, I believe this problem is due to an SLI configuration where the focus is on monitor 1. (I.e acceleration is available, but only on monitor 1.)
