Basic question on getting started

I'm new to iMovie 09, I'm finally making the leap from '06 but I don't know where to start. Do I do my editing in the Event Library or the Project Library? What's the process? I'm lost without my '06 timeline.

I noticed that when I placed my first marker (at the 2nd point of the movie) it labelled it "1". Is 09 the same as 06 in that I shouldn't place a chapter marker at the beginning?
I have had no problem putting chapter markers at the beginning in iMovie 06 (or iMovie 09). I just re-tried it on a iMovie 06 project I am doing now (iDVD 09 took it fine).

  • Basic Questions on Getting Started with MDK

    What I discover at this point is that I can't see any sign of the MDK in Eclipse. There is an article that talks about installing the MDK, but what it really talks about is installing the client engine. For the process, you need a live SAP Web Server to talk to-- i.e., a backend.
    I don't see any samples that were downloaded with the MDK. It just consists of a set of plugin jar files for Eclipse. No samples whatsoever.
    I'm not sure where to go from here. A contact at SAP would be helpful to help me figure out what it is I need to look at.
    One thing I have found out: The SAP Mobile Infrastructure (MI), which is what I am looking at, is for developing either thin client applications using JSP or fat client Java programs, both of which rely on a local run-time engine that talks to a real SAP backend. It would be impossible to do any development or even run a pre-built application without having a backend to talk to.
    We do not have SAP installed, so we need some help with connecting to a backend system and getting the MDK properly installed. Thanks.

    Hi Brent,
    First of all, thanks for checking out the MDK.
    If you want to use the MDK, you can install the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS). You can see the MDK in the Help menu item. From there, you will be able to navigate the MDK documentation.
    I strongly suggest you to use NWDS instead of Eclipse. MDK is a set of documentation, tutorials and examples; together with a plug-in for the IDE to develop MI-based mobile application.
    Mobile Infrastructure comprises of a client and server components. The MI Client component runs on the mobile device while the MI Server Component runs on the "middleware" server (ie: the SAP Web Application Server). Starting SAP NetWeaver 2004, the MI 2.5 Server component ships with the SAP WebAS 6.40. You will need a backend server (eg: R/3, ERP2004, etc.) to get the business data as well.
    You can check out the MI online documentation for more information:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a7/893a5889e08b41b615688b1a93b559/frameset.htm
    Hope that helps.

  • Basic Questions for Getting Started

    I want to make a DVD with a menu that will link to video files that will not be compressed at DVD SD size 720 x 480 (I think that is the right size for DVD?) Instead, I need to make the window size of the videos smaller so I can fit as many as possible on a single-layer disc.
    1. Will there be any issues with linking to video files that are not full screen, whether it is played in a computer DVD or a home one?
    2. What is the best format for bringing video in from FCP for doing this? I am guessing that since DVD SP compresses as MPG-2, I should bring the video in a non-compressed format so it does not get double compressed.
    3. Does anyone have any recommendations for a smaller window size that displays well on screen? 400 by something???
    Thanks for any help in advance!!!

    1. Will there be any issues with linking to video
    files that are not full screen, whether it is played
    in a computer DVD or a home one?
    I can only suggest that you try it and see, or ask on the Final Cut Pro discussion forum and someone there will know.
    2. What is the best format for bringing video in from
    FCP for doing this? I am guessing that since DVD SP
    compresses as MPG-2, I should bring the video in a
    non-compressed format so it does not get double
    compressed.
    Yes. You should bring it into DVD SP as a QT file (.mov) which you export from Final Cut, presumably using the option "using QT Compression" which I think gives options for size. However, I have never had luck when using the QT compression option. There may be other utilities which can reduce the size of a QT movie.
    I suppose that you know to use Compressor to make a more efficient compression than the one built in to DVD SP, and to use APack (or whatever it is called in DVD SP 4) to compress sound - that saves a lot of disc space.

  • One basic question to get started.

    Hi,
    I am a web developer for a long time. Now want to learn Java to code JSP. One question.
    What should I know to code JSP. To create comple dynamic website.
    anyone please

    I suggest reading a book cover to cover on JSP/servlets. Then download and install Eclipse IDE and tomcat and the Eclipse tomcat plugin. Then create a hello world jsp, then hello world servlet. Then install Oracle Lite (or similar free database). Then implement a web application per my previous post at http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10786901 Then, refactor it over and over. Next, read a book on Spring framework and create a new project with it.

  • General questions to get started with virtualization server cluster.

    Hello all, this is my first time posting here in the tech net forums. I am a software development student and have been spending most of my time lately in Linux.  First I would like to apologize if I am at all not complying with the forum ethics or
    protocol based on the fact that I am rushing to get this post in and wasn't able to do as much reading as I would normally like before posting. If my questions seem to be to noobish feel free to just tell me so.  That being said, I would appreciate some
    help. My systems have been down now for the better part of a month with trying to figure out, not how to configure the system I want, but rather to find a system to configure and be able to stick with it without running into issues that make me start researching
    a whole new system.
    So for a quick explanation of what I am trying to accomplish:
    I am looking to utilize the equipment I have, and put together a small virtual machine host.  The last few weeks I was working on building a Proxmox cluster which overall seemed to be pretty close to what I want, however the compatibility just isn't
    there yet in my eyes for a home use server.  I am trying to take basically the 5 or 6 PCs that I have already built, and configure them into a cluster that will be able to hopefully utilize as much system resource as possible.  From what I have learned
    in recent, this is referred to as a Beowulf cluster, or just a virtualization cluster.  So ideally I want to combine the 5-6 processors to form one "super computer" that will serve as nothing but a virtual machine host.  I am sorry if I
    am using the wrong terms for any of this but like I said, I am just trying to figure it all out still.  What is the best Microsoft OS to use to do this?  I am currently looking at either Server 2012 R2, but I have also looked briefly into Systems
    Center 2012 R2 and really like the look of this.  This is just for my personal use.  The reason I am looking to do this is that I currently use many different OSs and have many different tasks that require different configurations.  The bulk
    of the work I am doing, coding, 3D rendering, video editing, a lot of Autodesk and Adobe work.  Then of course I would like to be able to do some gaming still but haven't even begun to research to feasibility of gaming on a VM because of course my main
    priority is the work.  So is there a way that I can pull this off?  I am planning to start purchasing some server racks, like a 9 or 12U wall mount rack that I was planning on putting about 4 or 5 2U atx cases in.  Right now in my small office
    I have 5 fully built atx towers and then multiple laptops and tablets and chrome books and bla blah!  It is just too much so I am looking for a way to consolidate.  Also, regarding the 3D rendering, if there is a way to utilize multiple processors
    at once in this same config, that would be great.  I have again done some research on "render farms" which sounds similar to a Beowulf but I just need to focus in an area that I can research more thoroughly because right now I just keep jumping
    around every time I think I have found a better solution.  Please help!  Thank you very much to anyone who takes the time to help me with this task.  It is very much appreciated!

    import java.awt.*;
    public class mp3Player extends Frame {
         public mp3Player() throws java.io.IOException, java.net.MalformedURLException, javax.media.MediaException {

              File f = new File (fd.getDirectory(), fd.getFile());
              Player p = Manager.createRealizedPlayer

    First of all the corect version of JDK should I work with for JMF, JDK 1.6.0_06 ?Any one can work, but I guess JDK1.3 onwards is better.
    It compeli nice, and the FileDialog open ice and I can select an *.mp3 file. But then I get an NullPointerException:From when, mp3 files have Visual component ?? They don't have any video, do they?
    I think you should do this:
    Player p = Manager.createRealizedPlayer
                   (f.toURI().toURL());
    Component vc = p.getVisualComponent();
    if(vc!=null)add (vc,BorderLayout.CENTER); // row 22
    Component cc = p.getControlPanelComponent();
    if(cc!=null)add (vc,BorderLayout.SOUTH);    //add control panel component also
    p.start();
    pack();                                  //size the frame automatically
    setLocationRelativeTo(null);        //display the frame in the middle of screenThanks!

  • I'm a Newbie - Hi!: what is the best way to get started?

    Hi,
    I'm retired but used to be a Senior Design Engineer with an aerospace components manufacturer.  The questionnaire didn't ask if I was retired!
    I have a basic working knowledge of computers and applications but I struggle with jargon, (i.e. I prefer the simple approach).
    My copy of Photoshop Elements 12 arrived yesterday.  I've just finished installing it!
    The instructions were quite clear as far as the installation went but I got a bit lost when the booklet started with the "Create an Adobe ID"
    It didn't seem to give any direction.  Any way somehow I managed to get here in the end having registered my product (twice - because I didn't see any activity after I hit the button the first time!).
    I own a Sony Alpha SLT A57 camera and also a Casio Exilim FH100 although the Sony is my weapon of choice for the most part.
    I'm on a basic photography course which leads to an intermediate and then ultimately an advanced course.  I also hope to follow on with courses that have been set up for Photoshop Elements too which are also available.
    I will be feeling my way for a while yet and I would appreciate some help (which will be needed inevitably).
    First of all, what is the best way for a guy with only basic skills to get started?
    Is there a page I can go to for help from first principles?
    I look forward to being a part of this community!

    Help> Getting Started is a good starting point, as is Adobe TV - Quick Links to Elements Adobe TV Tutorials.

  • Basic question, how to create rtf template with a given xml file

    Hello guys
    I am new to BI publisher and I am learning how to create rtf templates using given xml fiel definitions by following the bi publisher guide
    The steps I am following is:
    1, create template using template builders, which is downloaded into MS words.
    2, In the empty template, map the xml columns with template field using BI publisher tag
    3, upload the template to BI Publisher as a layout.
    That's all I can understand.
    My question is:
    1,in which above step do I import XML file into template builder (if not bi publisher), how to do so?
    2,After template is created, how to associate this template layout with existing reports in BI Publisher, or is it necessary at all?
    3,In the template content in MS Word template builder, what should I enter other than BI publisher tags for mapping XML field to desired template field
    Or, if my understand of this process is entirely wrong, what's the right process of creating rtf template with a given XML file definition
    Thanks

    If you have a BI Publisher desktop installed, have a look a the demos,.. should answer most of your basic questions.

  • Just getting started - coupla newbie questions

    Please bear with me, I'm new to IM and iChat.
    I may be jumping the gun a bit here, but I just wanted to ask a few very basic questions:
    1) iChat is 'compatible' with AOL/AIM. I have a .mac account. If I use this as my IM account does it mean that I can chat with people from a Windoze machine by using AIM? If not, am I better setting up my IM account via AOL?
    2) If I use my .mac account does it mean that anyone I chat to can also see my e-mail address?
    3) If I set up a IM account via my .mac does it mean that I could chat to somebody when they are at work on a PC - perhaps if they are using AIM/AOL (my Mac is purely a personal computer that is at my home)
    4) I've managed to set up my Sony DV camera as a webcam - the image is there on the screen when I launch iChat AV (with reference to my first question I think I set myself up via my .mac account). However, I noticed from the writing on my T-shirt that the image is reversed - the lettering was like I was looking in a mirror. Is this right? If not, how do I change it so that the video picture is the right way round?
    This looks like a great way to keep in contact with friends and family. So much so that I think I'll be getting all my siblings and their children a webcam for Christmas. But I need ot make sure that they will be able to set themselves up easily and be able to communicate with a Mac user. On that note, if they are all PC/AIM users will I be able to see three images at once?
    Thanks

    HI TWH3,
    1) Ralph Johns (UK), "FAQ 1: How do I Get Video and Audio Chats with PCs ?", 03:13pm Jul 25, 2004 CDT
    2) Yes if this is your iChat name. Many people use a trial account that wil stop it's email functionality after 60 days or use and AIM name.
    3) The .Mac names work with the AIM servers and anyone else who is connected to it (iChat, AIM, AOL package, Trilian on the AV side and many Text based clients that use the AIM servers like Proteus (Mac) AduimX etc)
    4) Yes this is normal. It is the way Apple have choosen to do things. With a USB cam or an iSight there are two Add-on utilties that can flip the pic, http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/ and iGlassses from the same site
    Last question. At tis time you can not multichat to a PC AIM/AOL or Tillian user. This an Apple iChat to iChat only feature.

  • Getting started question

    I'm sure I'll have fewer questions as times moves on, but here is another newbie question.
    I've gone through the initial getting started chapter on the 'Calculator' stateless session bean J2EE project.
    At the step:
    <i>Deploying and Running the Calculator Application</i>
    I think I successfully deploy my EAR.
    The page won't load in my browser.
    I've tried many flavors of localhost, localhost.corp.adobe.com, AHAMILTO1-XP and AHAMILTO1-XP.corp.adobe.com to port 50418/Calculator/Calculator.jsp.
    For example:
    http://localhost:50418/Calculator/Calculator.jsp
    Am I using the wrong port?  Is the port 50418 not an http port?  I guess I'm asking how do I determine my http port number?  I also tried 50000.
    I get the response during deployment:
    <i>Jan 11, 2005 2:27:57 PM /userOut/deploy (com.sap.ide.eclipse.sdm.threading.DeployThreadManager) [Deploy Thread] INFO:
    CalculatorEar.ear -> Successfully deployed file:/C:/DOCUME1/ahamilto/LOCALS1/Temp/temp54088CalculatorEar.ear
    DEPLOYMENT ...
    ==> SDM host : AHAMILTO1-XP
    ==> SDM port : 50418
    ==> URL : file:/C:/DOCUME1/ahamilto/LOCALS1/Temp/temp54088CalculatorEar.ear
    ... FINISHED SUCCESSFULLY</i>

    Hello,
    1. Does your browser show the startpage of your local WAS if you try URL http://localhost:50000
    2. Where does your port 50418 come from? It seams that you have several instances on your computer, maybe you should try http://localhost:50400/Calculator/Calculator.jsp to reach your application. XXX18 is normally the sdm port through which you deploy your application to j2ee engine.
    Maybe that helps,
    André

  • Three Getting Started Questions with RV180

    I recently purchased the RV180 router. I have a few quick "getting started" questions about using it:
    1. Is the "Static DHCP" the screen I need to use in order to reserve DHCP addresses (see attached)? That's where I've been reserving all my DHCP addresses with. I'm just making sure I have the correct screen.
    2. Do I need to do anything to "backup" my configuration, or will my settings still be around when the RV180 reboots?
    3. Do I need to run a check for firmware update on the RV180, and how do I update the firmware on the RV180 (as well as the SG200-18), or does it usually come with the latest firmware out-of-the-box? If I go ahead and put a service contract on the RV180 and SG200-18, will I receive my firmware updates automatically? Are the part numbers for the service contracts the same for the RV180 and SG200-18?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    1. Is the "Static DHCP" the screen I need to use in order to reserve DHCP addresses (see attached)? That's where I've been reserving all my DHCP addresses with. I'm just making sure I have the correct screen.
    Yes, that is the correct location to set DHCP reservations.
    2. Do I need to do anything to "backup" my configuration, or will my settings still be around when the RV180 reboots?
    Whenever you hit save after making a change you configuration is saved and will survive a reboot.
    If you would like to save  backup copy of your configration file just go to Administration >> Backup/Restore settings.
    You will need to manually update the firmware on the RV180.  That firmware is available here:
    RV180 Firmware
    It is simply one file, that you upload under Administration >> Firmware Upgrade.  There is no bootcode for the routers (like there was with your switch)
    You can locate this in the future the same way you did the SG200 firmware (because this link may change) on the Cisco website.
    As for the service contract, the part number for both of those devices will be CON-SBS-SVC2.
    Hope that helps, and I will try to get to your other questions sometime today as well.  Also since you just bought there you are of course welcome to call in and get some support over the phone, both your devices do come with 1 year of technical support, and it sounds like you are getting or have contracts, so I guess make that 3 years.
