Basic questions regarding installing Forefront EP Client 2010 on Windows 2012 R2

Hi,
We have a handful of servers and client machines (although these always seem to be expanding) and as such have previously just installed the Forefront Endpoint 2010 Client manually onto the various endpoints with updates being pushed via WSUS from a Windows
2008R2 machine, without running to a full installation of SCCM or the Forefront Endpoint Server. However, trying to install the FEP 2010 client directly onto new Windows 2012R2 servers result in a "This OS is not supported" error.
After checking some articles it appears that FEP 2010 might well be supported on Win 2012R2 (and Windows 8), but only if installed via SCCM. Is this correct?
We do have access to SCCM 2012, but again I have shied away from this. I had hoped that maybe the SCCM Endpoint client could also be installed manually once more, but trying to install this on a Windows 2012R2 machine results in a "Windows compatibility
mode is not supported by this program" error.
Am I barking up the wrong tree and will I now have to finally learn and install SCCM? If so I take it that I can update my 2008R2 WSUS server to firstly Win 2012RS WSUS, then add SCCM 2012?
Cheers
Chris

Hi Joyce,
Thanks for the feedback.
Hi,
>>After checking some articles it appears that FEP 2010 might well be supported on Win 2012R2 (and Windows 8), but only if installed via SCCM. Is this correct?
According to the blog below, Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 with Update Rollup 1
is supported on Windows Server 2012 R2.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2013/09/16/support-questions-about-win-8.1-and-winsvr-2012-r2-for-configmgr-and-endpoint-protection.aspx
Please make sure you are running FEP 2010 update rollup 1. You could get it from the following link.
http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2907566/en-us
Thanks for the feedback. I should have said that I have indeed tried this. From the initial link you posted I found the "Update Rollup 1 for Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010" (http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2551095/en-us), however, this update
itself apparently requires a prerequisite. Whist I have tried to install the prerequisite (http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2554364/en-us) and the Forefront Update Rollup 1 directly onto a a Windows 2012 R2 machine, I end up with errors:
Installing the Prerequisite result in a "Error code: 1642" in the log file. Have have tried to chase this error, but have not spent too much time digging as yet, but this appears to be more to do with the FEP server than the client.
Installing with the FEP Update Rollup (obviously without the prerequisite), give us three folders (FepExt, FepReport and FepUx), none of which seem to be the client per se
>>Ah, the later problem of trying to install a client from SCCM 2012 onto Windows 2012R2 maybe because I have been using SCCM 2012 SP1, and not SCCM 2012R2??
In SCCM 2012, Endpoint Protection 2012 is integrated so you cannot install FEP 2010 in it.
Best Regards,
Joyce
No no, What I meant was that I had hoped that I could install the client contained within SCCM 2012 R2 installation material manually onto a vanilla Windows 2012 R2 box (which is what I'm trying to do), in the same way that I could install the FEP 2010 on
previous Windows OS. The ISO that I have currently from our systems team is that of SCCM 2012 SP1, not SCCM 2012 R2, and the client within the SP1 package does not install in Windows 2012 R2. I'm tyring to get hold of the SCCM 2012 R2 ISO now, which (from
what I read) should allow me to manually install the client.
I may well play with SCCM later, but is a little over kill for our estate (read 10's of servers and clients, rather than 1000's), however, we should have a campus licence for SCCM.

  • Basic question regarding SSIS 2010 Package where source is Microsoft Excel 97-2005 and there is no Microsoft office or Excel driver installed in Production

    Hi all,
I got one basic question regarding SSIS 2010 Package where source is Microsoft Excel 97-2005. I wanted to know How this package works in production where there is no Microsoft office or Excel driver installed. To check that there is excel driver installed
or not, I followed steps: Start-->Administrative Tools--> Data Sources(ODBC)-->Drivers and I found only 2 drivers one is SQL Server and another one is SQL Server Native Client 11.0.
Windows edition is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, Service Pack-1 and System type is 64-bit Operating System.
    We are running this package from SQL Server Agent and using 32-bit (\\Machine_Name\d$\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\DTExec.exe /FILE "\\Machine_Name\d$\ Folder_Name\EtL.dtsx" /CONFIGFILE "\\Machine_Name\d$\Folder_Name\Config.dtsConfig"
/MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E) to run this package. I opened the package and tried to find out what connection we have used and found that we have used "Excel Connection Manager" and ConnectionString=Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data
Source=F:\Fares.xls;Extended Properties="EXCEL 8.0;HDR=YES"; and source is ‘Excel Source’
I discussed with my DBA and He said that SSIS is having inbuilt Excel driver but I am not convinced.
Could anyone please clear my confusion/doubt?
I have gone through various links but my doubt is still not clear.

    Hi S Kumar Dubey,
In SSIS, the Excel Source and Excel Destination natively use the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider which is installed by SQL Server. The Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider deals with .xls files created by Excel 97-2003. To deal with .xlsx files created by
Excel 2007, we need the Microsoft ACE OLEDB Provider. SQL Server doesn’t install the Microsoft ACE OLEDB Provider, to get it we can install the
2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components or
Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable or Microsoft Office suit.
The drivers listed in the ODBC Data Source Administrator are ODBC drivers not OLEDB drivers, therefore, the Excel Source/Destination in SSIS won’t use the ODBC driver for Excel listed in it by default. On a 64-bit Windows platform, there are two versions
of ODBC Data Source Administrator. The 64-bit ODBC Data Source Administrator is C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe, while the 32-bit one is C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe. The original 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC drivers are installed by the Windows operating system.
By default, there are multiple 32-bit ODBC drivers and fewer 64-bit ODBC drivers installed on a 64-bit platform. To get more ODBC drivers, we can install the 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components or Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable.
Besides, please note that 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components only install 32-bit ODBC and OLEDB drivers because it only has 32-bit version, but the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable has both 32- bit version and 64-bit
    version.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

  • How to manage Forefront Endpoint Prorection Security Client 2010 with SCCM 2012

    Hi
I've sucessfully installed System Center Configuration Manager 2012
and now I 'd like to push/deploy Forefront Endpoint Protection Client 2010 on client machines.I also know that Microsoft embedded Forefront Endpoint Protection in SCCM 2012 so that you can manage FEP from single SCCM 2012 console. Now
when I try to push FEP client on client machines using Default Client Settings
then I've found that all Endpoint Protection settings are greyed out !
Do I need to install Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 or 2012 Server (which is beta) with SCCM 2012, in order to deploy FEP client or is there a workaround or solution to resolve this ?
    Thanks
    Sohail

    Hi,
Endpoint Protection 2012 is builtin in SCCM 2012, you simply add the Site Role called Endpoint Protection either on your CAS if you have one of those or on your Primary site Server. FEP is no longer a standalone installer and it is a released product and
    no longer Beta.
Then the Endpoint Protection Client Settings will no longer be greyed out and you can deploy the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection client.

  • Steps to install Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010?

I've been searching on how to install Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Server.  I can't seem to find anything about this.  Can someone tell me the steps I need to take.  I installed SQL 2012, then SCCM
2012, but when I launch the Forefront 2010 installer its saying it can't find SCCM 2007.  I take it its not supported in Forefront 2010? Anyways, if there are instructions on how to install the Endpoint Protection and Exchange Online protection I'd appreciate
    it.
    Fernando

    Hi,
In SCCM 2012 Endpoint Protection 2012 is integrated so you cannot install FEP 2010 in it. Add the Site System role called "Endpoint Protection" on your Primary site server, CAS if you use a CAS and then you are good to go.
    the steps are described here:

  • Installation of Exchange 2010 in Windows 2012 Server

    Hi all,
We are planning to upgrade our current Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, Need some help on installation and Support of Exchange 2010 in Windows 2012 Server, as per the

You can easily install Exchange 2010 (SP3) on Windows Server 2012. If you are working with previous SP version’s you can easily upgrade after installing server. And registry settings
are used to fix an error which may occur during migration, so it is not mandatory to correct registry settings each time during migration.
You can find detailed information about installing Exchange 2010 (SP3) on Windows Server 2012 at this blog :http://oxfordsbsguy.com/2013/03/24/how-to-install-exchange-2010-sp3-on-windows-server-2012/

  • A very basic question regarding data block

    Hi All,
I've a very basic question concerning data blocks in oracle forms 10g.
I want to make a view only screen (only query allowed, no update, insert or delete).
I'll have 6-7 fields on the screen but all the fields are not from a single table.
For e.g, let say we've field names to display on the screen are f1, f2, f3, f4..
Out of this f1 and f2 will come from table A and f3, f4 will come from table B.
Now, my question : Is it possible to create a data block using the data block wizard for such situation if we select create data block from table options?
If no, can you please tell me an approach to do this.
    Regards,
    Navnit

    Hello ,
First write your query & select datablock property.
    just change the below properties
Query Data Source Type=From Clause Query
Query Data Source Name = (Paste query here)
now you should add the block ITEMs and give their names according to query columns names. shows the column on canvas and run..

  • New files and folders on a Linux client mounting a Windows 2012 Server for NFS share do not inherit Owner and Group when SetGID bit set

    Problem statement
When I mount a Windows NFS service file share using UUUA and set the Owner and Group, and set the SetGID bit on the parent folder in a hierarchy. New Files and folders inside and underneath the parent folder do not inherit the Owner and Group permissions
    of the parent.
I am given to understand from this Microsoft KnowledgeBase article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951716/en-gb) the problem is due to the Windows implmentation of NFS Services not supporting the Solaris SystemV or BSD grpid "Semantics"
However the article says the same functionality can acheived by using ACE Inheritance in conjunction with changing the Registry setting for "KeepInheritance" to enable Inheritance propagation of the Permissions by the Windows NFS Services.
    1. The Precise location of the "KeepInheritance" DWORD key appears to have "moved" in  Windows Server 2012 from a Services path to a Software path, is this documented somewhere? And after enabling it, (or creating it in the previous
location) the feature seems non-functional. Is there a method to file a Bug with Microsoft for this Feature?
    2. All of the references on demonstrating how to set an ACE to achieve the same result "currently" either lead to broken links on Microsoft technical websites, or are not explicit they are vague or circumreferential. There are no plain Examples.
    Can an Example be provided?
    3. Is UUUA compatible with the method of setting ACE to acheive this result, or must the Linux client mount be "Mapped" using an Authentication source. And could that be with the new Flat File passwd and group files in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
and is there an Example available.
    Scenario:
    Windows Server 2012 Standard
    File Server (Role)
+- Server for NFS (Role) << -- installed
    General --
    Folder path: F:\Shares\raid-6-array
    Remote path: fs4:/raid-6-array
    Protocol: NFS
    Authentication --
    No server authentication
    +- No server authentication (AUTH_SYS)
    ++- Enable unmapped user access
+++- Allow unmapped user access by UID/GID
    Share Permissions --
    Name: linux_nfs_client.host.edu
    Permissions: Read/Write
    Root Access: Allowed
    Encoding: ANSI
    NTFS Permissions --
    Type: Allow
    Principal: BUILTIN\Administrators
    Access: Full Control
    Applies to: This folder only
    Type: Allow
    Principal: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
    Access: Full Control
    Applies to: This folder only
    -- John Willis, Facebook: John-Willis, Skype: john.willis7416

I'm making some "major" progress on this problem.
    1. Apparently the "semantics" issue to honor SGID or grpid in NFS on the server side or the client side has been debated for some time. It also existed as of 2009 between Solaris nfs server and Linux nfs clients. The Linux community defaulted to declaring
it a "Server" side issue to avoid "Race" conditions between simultaneous access users and the local file system daemons. The client would have to "check" for the SGID and reformulate its CREATE request to specify the Secondary group it would have to "notice"
by which time it could have changed on the server. SUN declined to fix it.. even though there were reports it did not behave the same between nfs3 vs nfs4 daemons.. which might be because nfs4 servers have local ACL or ACE entries to process.. and a new local/nfs
"inheritance" scheme to worry about honoring.. that could place it in conflict with remote access.. and push the responsibility "outwards" to the nfs client.. introducing a race condition, necessitating "locking" semantics.
This article covers that discovery and no resolution - http://thr3ads.net/zfs-discuss/2009/10/569334-CR6894234-improved-sgid-directory-compatibility-with-non-Solaris-NFS-clients
    2. A much Older Microsoft Knowledge Based article had explicit examples of using Windows ACEs and Inheritance to "mitigate" the issue.. basically the nfs client "cannot" update an ACE to make it "Inheritable" [-but-] a Windows side Admin or Windows User
[-can-] update or promote an existing ACE to "Inheritable"
Here are the pertinent statements -
"In Windows Services for UNIX 2.3, you can use the KeepInheritance registry value to set inheritable ACEs and to make sure that these ACEs apply to newly created files and folders on NFS shares."
"Note About the Permissions That Are Set by NFS Clients
The KeepInheritance option only applies ACEs that have inheritance enabled. Any permissions that are set by an NFS client will
only apply to that file or folder, so the resulting ACEs created by an NFS client will
    not have inheritance set."
    "So
If you want a folder's permissions to be inherited to new subfolders and files, you must set its permissions from the Windows NFS server because the permissions that are set by NFS clients only apply to the folder itself."
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321049
    3. I have set up a Windows 2008r2 NFS server and mounted it with a Redhat Enteprise Linux 5 release 10 x86_64 server [Oct 31, 2013] and so far this does appear to be the case.
    4. In order to mount and then switch user to a non-root user to create subdirectories and files, I had to mount the NFS share (after enabling Anonymous AUTH_SYS mapping) this is not a good thing, but it was because I have been using UUUA - Unmapped Unix
User Access Mapping, which makes no attempt to "map" a Unix UID/GID set by the NFS client to a Windows User account.
To verify the Inheritance of additional ACEs on new subdirectories and files created by a non-root Unix user, on the Windows NFS server I used the right click properties, security tab context menu, then Advanced to list all the ACEs and looked at the far
Column reflecting if it applied to [This folder only, or This folder and Subdirectories, or This folder and subdirectories and files]
    5. All new Subdirectories and files createdby the non-root user had a [Non-Inheritance] ACE created for them.
    6. I turned a [Non-Inheritance] ACE into an [Inheritance] ACE by selecting it then clicking [Edit] and using the Drop down to select [This folder, subdirs and files] then I went back to the NFS client and created more subdirs and files. Then back to the
Windows NFS server and checked the new subdirs and folders and they did Inherit the Windows NFS server ACE! - However the UID/GID of the subdirs and folders remained unchanged, they did not reflect the new "Effective" ownership or group membership.
    7. I "believe" because I was using UUUA and working "behind" the UID/GID presentation layer for the NFS client, it did not update that presentation layer. It might do that "if" I were using a Mapping mechanism and mapped UID/GID to Windows User SIDs and
Group SIDs. Windows 2008r2 no longer has a "simple" Mapping server, it does not accept flat text files and requires a Schema extension to Active Directory just to MAP a windows account to a UID/GID.. a lot of overhead. Windows Server 2012 accepts flat text
files like /etc/passwd and /etc/group to perform this function and is next on my list of things to see if that will update the UID/GID based on the Windows ACE entries. Since the Local ACE take precedence "over" Inherited ACEs there could be a problem. The
Inheritance appears to be intended [only] to retain Administrative rights over user created subdirs and files by adding an additional ACE at the time of creation.
    8. I did verify from the NFS client side in Linux that "Even though" the UID/GID seem to reflect the local non-root user should not have the ability to traverse or create new files, the "phantom" NFS Server ACEs are in place and do permit the function..
reconciling the "view" with "reality" appears problematic, unless the User Mapping will update "effective" rights and ownership in the "view"

  • Problem installing Crystal Reports 2013 on a Windows 2012 R2 server

Sheesh.  One of my users needs crystal reports and still uses it weekly.  It's time to update off of an old 2003 server so I setup a new Windows 2012 R2 server so that she and others can RDP into it and use the application and reports (it's a payroll thing so they want limited access).

I can't find any information on this!  I have found a similar message that refers to a 2011 install that was fixed with a SP9?  But this machine has no current install.  I did buy the full version two days ago online from the sap store.

There is an older C++ library that you need that is not available by default on Win 2012.  You can get the install for this here:
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update from Official Microsoft Do…
Also, be sure you're logged in with Administrator rights, the right-click and "Run as Administrator" when you run setup.  You might also have to turn off the Windows Firewall when you run the install (you can turn it back on again after the install is complete.)

  • Install Remote Desktop Services Failed on Windows 2012 Server

I understand RDS is not recommended on DC due to security consideration.  However since I want to play it at home, it is not much a concern.  Such scenario works fine on Windows 2008 R2.  But on Windows 2012, the RDS (session-based, have not
tried VDI, but expect same result) installation always fails and is incomplete on DC.
In \Administrative Tools\Terminal Services, I only have RD Licensing Diagnoser and RD licensing manager.  The remote desktop service management service cannot be started (Error code: 0x88250001).  Is there any extra configuration needed for RDS
working on Server 2012 DC or before the installation?  Thanks.
Update: this issue has been solved in Windows 2012 R2 Server.  According to
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2013/07/09/what-s-new-in-remote-desktop-services-for-windows-server-2012-r2.aspx
"Single server RDS deployment including Active Directory. We now support running our RD Connection Broker role service on the same physical instance as an Active Directory Domain Controller.  In addition, we published
guidelines for how RD Session Host could be used without the RD Connection Broker."
The guidelines (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2833839/en-us) primarily apply to Windows 2012 Server.

Asinine.  Simply Asinine.  Microsoft took it out because of $GREED$.
RemoteDesktop has become so popular, they had to break it to make more money.  Thats why they discontinued SmallBusinessServer.   If this practice is so tabooo... Why did MS go the opposite direction with SBS 2011 Premium Cal's?  SBS2011
had DC, Exchange, RDS and Sharepoint,SQL, RemoteWebWorkplace, OWA all working in perfect harmony.  It is an untrue statement then, that it was "allowed but not recommended"
Now you by Server2012 (core + two virtual) and its not enough for all this.
You need at least another $700 for another sever licence to have it all
and who knows if SQL will run on a DC, or Exchange, or R-DERP server.  Another reacherous bridge to cross.
By far, the absloute worse release since Millennium.  The product is not ready for production, we broke our rule of waiting until the first SP1 upgrade for this and Exchange 2013.  Problems with USB drivers and networking running extreamly slow.
Our 2003 SBS server was at least three times as fast, and this server has SAS and SSD drives running.  It can't get out of its own way, and IE10 is the most unstable piece of crap to come out of Redmond.  Open wide and swallow - Mother Microsoft
knows whats best for you.  YOU WILL EAT OUR SLOP AND LEARN TO LIKE IT.   Server2012 AKA  "METRO-SERVER"
Now here I sit after 50 Hours back to back setting up a new R-DERP server 2012, AD, Have my RDP licences in my hand at $100 each, and WTH does Microsoft care if I install it on my DC.  ITS MY DC.  And the cost savings versus the "risk" was
    previously MY decision.
Sure, I can install a couple of Virtual HyperV sessions but they are so tempremental to a power-outage in a small business its not worth it.  I have to double up my server hard drive resources, buy a $800 battery backup unit and make sure to attach
the cable, and even then, if that Bi**H does not shut down properly, one bit goes awry in a VHD or VHDX file and you are screwed.  Restore from lastnights backup and forget about todays work.  Not to mention it will probably take a half day to try
to fix it, then recover it then tell the 30 users they lost a days worth of work.
HYPER-V is for test servers and has no place in a small (micro) business environment. 5-30 users.
Microsoft's solution, buy another server.  Need Exchange?  Buy another server or take the risky cheapskate route and spin up some VHD's.  Might as well put a gun to your head and play russian roulette, at least you know you have a one in six
chance of failure.  With MS, its a 100% failure for a dirty shutdown power loss, motherboard blows, memory goes corrupt in a few years, your conventional method of recovery is gone, and you have some upchucked VHD file to try to recover some of TODAYS
    data from.
    Screw server 2012 forever.
I will sell 2008 and SBS2011 Premium unitl it rots in hell like XP (of which there is NOTHING wrong with for the average, WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK and QUICKBOOKS that all SMB's use.  Its MS $GREED$  Grab the world by the B**ls and squeeze with all
your might to squeeze every dime you can out of *SMB* because big business is going to run thier 2003 Exchange and 2008 servers into ground before they switch to this garbage.
YOU CANNOT INSTALL EXCHANGE 2013 on DC , OR on R-DERP server.
Go buy another server license and server or MOVE TO THE CLOUD and get fleeced every month.
I have 30 DC/R-DERP/Exchange and SBS2011 Premium servers all running for years in perfect harmony, locked down with security so the users can't even WIGGLE with something they are not supposed to work with.  They get their apps, cannot install anything
and all these servers are running just fine behind the firewall and perfectly save.  The track record of this combination is 100% stable and is up 24/7/365 with no problems.  Do yourself a favor and throw this 2012 into the river, you don't need
any weights because it is LEAD and will sink to the bottom by itself.
Why, you ask?  Official is "Its for your protection"  The real reason?  To sell you more $700 server licences.
Maybe for SMB, we start selling Linux NAS Servers, host the Exchange in the cloud and be hearded like cattle to the Microsoft slaughterhouse.  One way or another, you are going to bleed.    A little each month to move to the cloud, or
a small fortune if you want to have it in house.  Microsoft wants it to be more expensive to have in house.  No more buying a server and running it for six years before you upgrade.  They can't have in house servers competing with their cloud,
and small businesses are the low hanging fruit  ripe for the pickin'.

  • Cannot Install Embarcadero Interbase odbc driver on windows 2012

    Hello
I am trying to install Embarcadero Interbase odbc driver on a windows 2012 server. But the installer does not load the file into system 32 folder which should contain the DLL for the 64 bit driver. The 32 bit dll goes correctly into syswow folder and the
driver works. Even if i try to copy the dll from a windows 7 machine and register it succesfully using elevated permissions .The driver shows up under 64 bit but does not load the database. I feel something is off with the permissions on system 32 folder under
windows. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Contact the application vendor.  This is not a Windows issue but an application issue.  If they do not support running on 2012, there may be nothing you can do.

  • Can A Windows 2000 Client Join A Windows 2012 Domain ?

I have set up a Server 2012 VM that I have configured as a DC.  The desktop environment consists of Windows 7, Windows XP and a few Windows 2000 machines.  All desktops can JOIN the 2012 domain, but when I try to add domain users to any of the
Windows 2000 (SP4) workstations, it fails with the error "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed".
Unjoining the workstation from the domain (or going into ADUC and deleting the Win 2000 computer from the domain) and trying again yields the same result.  I do not have this problem when the Windows 2000 machines are joined to a Server 2008 R2 domain.
At this point, I'm leaning towards setting it up as a 2008 R2 DC, and moving to a 2012 DC once we have weaned ourselves off of the Windows 2000 desktops.  Is there any hope of getting things to work with a 2012 DC from the start ?

    Hi,
Based on my research, Windows 2000 client is not supported for Windows 2012 DC.
Windows client and Windows Server operating systems that are supported to join Windows Server 2012 domains
The following Windows client and Windows Server operating systems are supported for domain member computers with domain controllers that run Windows Server 2012:
Client operating systems: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP
Computers that run Windows 8 are also able to join domains that have domain controllers that run earlier version of Windows Server, including Windows Server 2003 or later. In this case however, some Windows 8 features may require additional configuration or
may not be available. For more information about those features and other recommendations for managing Windows 8 clients in downlevel domains, see
Running Windows 8 member computers in Windows Server 2003 domains.
Server operating systems: Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003

  • Basic question regarding c210 install

    Hello,
I have installed UCS C series server and able to access CIMC. But, when I try to install ESXi vsphere, I am not able to launch virtual media from Virtual KVM console. On the console, I have this error message. Can anyone explain how to fix this issue?.
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    Thanks,
    Karthik.

    Karthik,
Sound like you have a couple issues.
    1) Unable to launch virtual media - which sounds like you've resolved if you've launched the SCU utiility.  Please confirm if this is now working.
    2) Issue with RAID controller.  Can you detail which controller you have?
If you're using the onboard LSI controller you have the BIOSO set correctly - "SWRAID".  If you're using an LSIMegaRAID controller, you'll need the BIOS setting for "Enhanced" SATA mode.
    Regards,
    Robert
