Basic sites (google, youtube) will not load, and intermittently, images on forums will not appear without clicking refresh multiple times, what is wrong?

Some sites and images will intermittently not load or make me click "try again" several times.
For example, a forum with a picture thread will not load the pictures, even if they are from multiple reliable hosts.
Also, I can attempt to visit youtube and must click try again several times to reach the site.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Slow DL/UL Speeds, Pages not loading, and inability to play games online

I noticed bad connection speeds on Wednesday and called tech support. They sent a technician out who replaced the modem and did some work on the lines. Long story short, my speeds are still poor, pages are not loading, and I am unable to play computer games without lag so significiant that playing becomes frustrating. This has been 5 days of awful connection (Thursday through Sunday I was without wireless because the tech support agents were not helpful).
I am really fed up with the way that Verizon has handled this issue. They have been very good in the past, but this situation has left me in a situation where I might have to cancel service since what is being provided is insufficient. Any help with this would be great, since I would like to give Verizon one last chance before I go look for a new provider (I have called tech support 5-6 times, tried their chat service, and also sent an email to customer service)

If the following things are true:
#1 You did not follow the advice in http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13600
#2 You did not change the LAN IP of the Westell (still at 192.168.1.1)
#3 You changed the LAN IP of the Linksys so it's LAN IP does not start with 192.168.1 (for example 192.168.2.1)
#4 The WAN port of the RJ-45 WAN port router is connected to the modem.
...Then
#1 Visit http://192.168.1.1/ for me and do the following:
a) If you see a Blue and White Westell page, mouse over Troubleshooting, go to DSL, and choose Transceiver Statistics. Copy and Paste the information on that page.
b) If using the Red and Black Firmware: Go to System Monitoring > Advanced Monitors > Transceiver Statistics. Copy and Paste the information on that page.
c) Try visiting http://192.168.1.1/transtat.htm which is a direct link to the Stats on older modems.
d) If you need a Username and Password, try the following:
admin/password
admin/password1
admin/admin
admin/admin1
admin/Serial Number
By Serial Number, I don't mean type in the words Serial Number. I mean find and type in the serial number found on the bottom of this router.
If you followed the advice in that FAQ, then I need more info from you:
#1 Does your Linksys have offical Linksys firmware or third party firmware?
#2 If the Linksys has third party firmware, which one?
For example DD-WRT.
#3 While I know your Linksys has a built in switch, do you have a switch that is not part of a router?
#4 Do any of your computers have at least two NICs and one of the NICs is wired?
#5 Do you know how to manually setup a Static IP on your computer?
#6 What kind of connection does your Linksys handle?
For a Verzion DSL connection, as far as I know - they only offer:
a) PPPoE
OR
b) DHCP (before setting the modem combo not to handle the public IP by folllowing that FAQ, the modem combo was set to Bridge-Routed Bridge-DHCP Client Enabled)
OR
c) Static IP.
#7 Does your Linksys have at least two RJ-45 LAN ports not occupied / not in use / nothing connected ?

"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

My girlfriend is having the same issue w/ Vista since she updated to iTunes 9. Can't figure out the problem for the life of me and contacted support and they sent me here. You have got the "Backups.backupdb" folder in the root level of your hard drive. This is the folder used by Time Machine to save backups to, and the OS X Mavericks installer thought that your hard drive is being used to store Time Machine backups
To fix this, open a Finder window, select the Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type:
Then, delete "Backups.backupdb" and empty the Trash. Finally, open the Mavericks installer from the Applications folder and follow the steps

If you are getting the blank app update screen, many, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days. It is a problem that Apple must fix now.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
1. Go to App Store
2. Select Purchased
3. Select All
4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.

PROBLEM SOLVED! For me at least!
Apple Support gave me the clue - I had run Migration Assistant, and it had obligingly replaced a system file (/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager) with the equivalent from my old system.
I reinstalled 10.6.7 using the DVD supplied and all is well.
The moral is - don't use Migration Assistant.
Along the way Apple Support provided me with a link to download Combo update 10.6.7: this could not be installed on my iMac.

I have an Iphone 3G about 5 years old and tried to sync it for the first time with microsoft outlook 2007 on my laptop and completed the sync for my contacts. After that, when I tried to used any downloaded apps, they will not load and start. I powered off theiphone and restarted it -- no change.
When I touch the app, it fills the screen for a split second as if it wants to start, but nothing happens. This is with all downloaded apps (free or paid for) only. Everything else works fine.

Applications not loading and possible malware, please help.

I got my mom a mac because I knew she would click on anything, and this way her chances of doing anything too deleterious might be reduced.
Anyhow, I think she downloaded something malicious. Now the screen saver, which originally pulled pictures from a folder in iphoto, now goes through a random set of photos in iphoto and also shows some really pixelated images that are superimposed on the photos. For example, there will be a photo, then the next image is a large, pixelated heart superimposed on the same photo. Then there will be another random picture, and then a different pixelated image on top of that photo.
Then I noticed that applications were not loading. So far, software update does not work, safari does not work, and itunes does not work. She says she only uses firefox though and now it loads by itself on startup even when I never applied that setting. I saw another post where it was recommended to download clamX, but it would not load. I went to the apple site and downloaded the latest software update, but it would not open. I tried the disk utility, but it only showed green-nothing was wrong.
I am at a loss of what to do, and even what is going on with the computer. I'm wondering what information has been compromised. I've tried doing a search on previous discussions, but am unsure of what key words to use. My mom does not have administrator privileges. This computer is mainly used for a filemaker pro app (which still works) and the internet/email.
I appreciate any thoughts you might have and any advice. Also, if you have any ideas on how to make this more "mom-proof". She has a hard time knowing what should be avoided as there is some language barrier.

You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
     1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
         with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
         After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
         a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
     2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
         button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
         After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
         size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
         partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
         and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
         (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
     3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
         with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.

I have a similar problem. I restored my iPhone 5 to the latest available OS. After completing the process the phone never restarted. The phone was fully charged when I restored it but now refuses to charge past the red battery icon. I have been able to get the phone in UFD mode several times and have been able to load the new OS on the phone. The Apple logo does come on and the software fully loads. iTunes tells me the phone will restart but never does. I left it to charge all night but it never appeared to load the battery. This morning I went to the Grand Central Terminal apple store for help. A woman at the store plugged the phone in but it never charged. She absolutely refused to believe that I got my phone in UFD mode and loaded any software on. I don't think it is a battery issue. The only solution I was given was to buy a new phone. Repairing it was out of the question. At this point the phone is completely useless. Thanks in advance for the help.
